Over the years, I have attended several Spanish immersion programs in both Mexico and Argentina, and Livit Immersion Center was by far the best. I participated in the four-hour morning instruction and my husband and I stayed in an on-site private apartment (more about that below). The full program offers lunch, two hours in the afternoon with guides to practice conversation and visit places in the interesting and historic City of Pueblo, a weekly excursion, and a homestay with a local family. The teachers at Livit are excellent. The school itself is bright and welcoming and comfortable. My husband, who speaks Spanish, and is a linguistic anthropologist, reported that he has seen a greater improvement in my Spanish than ever before. The whole atmosphere of the school is relaxed and permission is given to speak Spanish as best you can without feeling uncomfortable. At the same time, the lessons are aimed at speaking Spanish well, with a variety of activities and drills. Given that I seem to have a second language learning and speaking disability, I really appreciated the patience of the teachers. I also took the online classes offered by Livit via Skype for three days a week for a month prior to arriving in Puebla, and am currently taking a one day a week class since returning. I highly recommend these classes. They would be an excellent way for people who cannot travel to Puebla for the immersion program to learn or improve their Spanish. My instructor was very good at identifying my strengths and weaknesses and creating an individual program for me. The onsite apartment where my husband and I stayed while I took classes at Livit was great. The apartment was quite private and very quiet, especially since Mexico, in general, can be pretty noisy. It was located at the back of the main house and language school facility, all of which is on a private street. The apartment is reached from outside steps off a lovely side garden, and had an automatic light at night. While small, the space was very well designed. The lower floor has a nicely equipped kitchen with good counter space and a clever dropdown table, and a little sitting area with a comfortable couch, TV, and a good-sized worktable. The upstairs included a bedroom with lots of storage areas, and an enclosed. The apartment is light and airy and attractive, with lots of windows and a skylight, and you can see “Popo,” the volcano, outside the bedroom window. There is another smaller accommodation for guests at the front of the property. The area felt very safe, and was only a couple of blocks from the Plaza del Carmen, which is a pleasant leafy place to hang out, surrounded by a couple of coffee shops and an excellent ice cream store, with a zillion flavors.

This is a great school for people who want to study Spanish as a second language. The directors are great people. They are experts at teaching Spanish, they are attentive, paciente, and generous with their knowledge. Courses are personalized to meet the goals of each student. The spaces are comfortable and inviting. The location is just a short walk from the colonia center of Puebla. Livit is a great option for those who want to learn more about the Spanish language and the culture of Mexico!

Working with the Livit Immersion Center has been an amazing experience! I am taking a series of private lessons with Scott via zoom. In the first lesson, he was very quick to determine my current level of Spanish proficiency. He then created a customized curriculum just for me. Scott is extremely flexible and didn’t push a ‘one size fits all program’ that would force me to waste time on concepts I already knew. His style of teaching allows me to focus on relevant topics at my pace. My favorite part of working with Scott is that he takes the time to personalize every lesson. He creates the homework to include specific questions and topics we discussed in the lesson, which reinforces my comprehension. He continues to exceed my expectations every time we meet. If you are looking to deepen your knowledge of Spanish, definitely consider Livit Immersion Center. I highly recommend their programs for new and experienced students.

Great experience. High quality instruction by owners who care about the product. They were able to provide each student a level that suited their needs, Warm and intimate environment. Puebla is a great under-rated Mexican city with great food, activities and a good place for walking. I give Livit the highest recommendation and endorsement.

Awesome two week immersion class! Great overall experience. I definitely recommend it. The people who run the school are awesome. Our classroom teacher superb, guides in the afternoon hip (que padre), the home stay generous and accommodating, the food amazing, the field trips mind blowing, and Puebla is awesome and safe. Go...

Incredible experience. 4 hours of classroom work plus 2 hours of conversation with guides in the community. You will work hard and your Spanish will improve. Everything well organized and professional. Covid protocols are excellent. Home cooked lunch is included. The hosts feel like family by the end. If possible, stay in one of their apartments. Also, Puebla is a great choice: safe, friendly and lots do. Don't hesitate.

Wow! What a great environment for learning. The small staff was friendly, warm, funny, and focused. Classes were small - the first week I had two other students in my class, and the next week it was 1:1. No hiding! While 2 weeks is not much time, a LOT was covered for practice and my proficiency in speaking and listening/understanding increased. (and still a long way to go!) The model of class time, lunch, afternoon guides (1:1 practice with a local person), and an excursion on Thursday afternoons was intense. By end of the week, I was tired! Homework was a good mixture of practice from the day, plus a little push to move me forward a bit. The instructors were able to spot my needs and focus on teaching to those needs. The intangibles that were great included teachers who cared a lot about balancing challenges to the students and encouragement to keep moving forward. I stayed at the school, in an apartment above the classrooms, and it was a terrific relief to just be able to walk upstairs and relax. I hope to be returning to get another dose!

I recently spent a month in Puebla with the Livit team, and the program, city, language, and Mexican culture left an indelible mark on me. Balanced Immersion and Enjoyable Learning: The Livit program perfectly balances intensive language immersion and enjoyable learning activities. The immersive and dynamic classes fostered a supportive environment that encouraged participants to use Spanish confidently. Whether structured classroom sessions or interactive group activities, every moment felt purposeful in enhancing language proficiency. Cultural Integration and Exploration: What sets the program apart is its commitment to integrating students into the rich tapestry of Mexican culture. Beyond the classroom, the program facilitates ample opportunities to explore the local area, practice our language skills with native speakers, and immerse ourselves in the day-to-day life of Mexico. This hands-on approach accelerated our language learning and provided a deep understanding of the cultural nuances that make Mexico so unique. Warm and Open Staff: The warmth and openness of the staff were vital contributors to the program's success. From day one, the instructors and support team created a welcoming environment, fostering a sense of camaraderie among participants. Their passion for teaching and dedication to our progress was palpable, making the learning process practical and enjoyable. Additionally, the staff is approachable and open to feedback of all kinds. If you're looking for a program that accelerates your Spanish language skills and immerses you in the heart of Mexico with a supportive and welcoming community, look no further. This program is a gem that will undoubtedly leave you with lasting memories and linguistic proficiency. ¡Altamente recomendado!

I recently (Jan. '23) attended 4 weeks at the Spanish language Immersion Center, Livit. The program is well organized with classes 5 days a week for 4 hours, followed by a delicious home cooked Pueblan lunch. After classes and lunch, students spend 3 days a week for 2 hours each time with a local guide wherein they can practice Spanish. And once a week the students go on a field trip to a community about an hour from Puebla to learn about history, culture, and anthropology. I learned more during my 4 weeks at Livit than I did the past year taking Spanish classes at college and studying on my own. The staff is excellent, friendly, and supportive, giving students many opportunities to practice what they learn everyday in formal and casual conversation. I highly recommend the Livit Immersion Center to anyone wanting to exponentially improve their Spanish language skills.

We were a family of 3 at the school, 2 adults and one 11 year old child. We absolutely loved our experience at Livit. It is family run, the facilities for the school are clean, excellent quality, and the food at lunch is homemade and superb. But the best thing about the school is the professional quality of the teaching and the personal touches of the family on the whole experience. I would highly recommend this school to anyone, and if I were to return to Mexico to continue spanish lessons, I wouldn’t hesitate to come back. It was super special and well worth the cost. Do not hesitate to book your experience. We booked our own accommodations through Airbnb, but I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at one of the school’s accommodations next time based on how they run their beautiful school.

Livit manages the lovely trick of making the running a highly professional immersion language school look and feel easy. I came home after four weeks there with a really good grounding in Spanish, a deeper interest in Mexican history and culture and a delight in Puebla and its people. I had met lots of interesting fellow students and had eaten far too much really good food. And the sun shone. Thank you Livit!

I had an excellent experience at Livit Immersion Center. Everyone was very friendly, professional and well organized. They keep the number of students in each class low so it makes learning much easier. They serve all the students lunch together so it’s another opportunity to get to know the students from the other classes and practice Spanish. Also the food was great! I also loved that each student is assigned a personal Spanish speaking local guide to spend time with in the afternoons. It was another great way to practice Spanish outside of the classroom. And Puebla was the perfect location. The locals were extremely friendly and easy to talk to and the city had plenty of interesting places to go yet it wasn’t huge and overwhelming. I highly recommend this experience. Don’t bother looking any further, just book this now. You won’t regret it!

I attended the Livit Immersion Center in Puebla for 6 weeks (October 2 to November 10, 2023). I highly recommend this school for anyone wishing to learn Spanish. My Spanish language ability was very basic at the start, so I was placed in a beginner’s class with three other beginning students and a teacher. Our group of 4 bonded quickly as we were challenged by the quick pace of daily classes. I made a lot of progress in the first 4 weeks and I recommend that length of time. The advantages of this program are: 1) An emphasis on speaking, while learning the necessary grammar. 2) Small class size. 3) A positive and supportive atmosphere for students to learn. The teachers are friendly and genuinely interested in helping students learn Spanish. 4) One-on-one speaking with local guides, which was very helpful. 5) Excursions once a week to nearby sites to learn about Mexican culture. Things to consider: - Puebla is at 7,100 feet (2,164 m) above sea level. If you live near sea level as I do, you will notice this climbing stairs, jogging or riding a bike. Otherwise, the altitude was not a problem. - The climate is dry (except during rainy season) and it can be cool at night, so bring a jacket. It can get very warm on a sunny day, but it is not excessively hot. Bring some shorts.

This was an awesome opportunity! I spent a moment before writing this thinking should I write this in English or Spanish? But anyway... First of all the lunch almost every day is by itself worth the price of tuition! The food is delicious, the excursions were fun and educational and I finally found a way to immerse myself in another second language without feeling overwhelmed at any point. In the four weeks I attended class I increased my level enough in my Spanish to skip 3 quarters of the classes I was taking at a beginner level to where I am now in an Intermediate to Advanced adult Spanish Class. All of my teachers were wonderful and teach with a unique style. Puebla is a beautiful city and there were more museums than I could even get through in four weeks. Most importantly upon getting home and returning to work at the school I immediately faced a new challenge which I would not have been able to tackle before. Two students arrived in my classroom, one from Ecuador the other from CDMX, who spoke little to no English and I was assigned to teach them tenth grade math in a school district that lacks a comprehensive ESL Program. Five months later they are still here. We talk to me every day in Spanish, I have to translate for their other teachers, and they are learning to understand and speak English little by little. Livit not only helped me reach and continue to strive for my goal of learning a second language, but they helped me to help these kids. I made friends in Mexico that I plan to go back and see again, and I would recommend Livit Immersion Center to anyone who is serious about improving their Spanish.

Went to Puebla, Mexico to get the immersion I needed to learn Spanish. Livit Immersion Centre offered more than what I had expected. The classes, teachers and staff, facilities were fantastic. I would recommend the program to anyone who wants to learn in a safe, enjoyable way. Martine Quentin

Livit was an amazing experience! You're added to classes based on skill level, and the class sizes are super small. I was lucky enough to be the only one in my class, so the lesson was highly personalized. The school itself is beautiful, and the staff (all of them, even the cleaning staff) are incredibly friendly and helpful. The provided lunches were absolutely delicious, and we had different things every day. After class, you walk around with a local guide, which was especially intimidating since I didn't really know much Spanish before arriving. However, the guides were very friendly and helpful.

This is a well-run school with enthusiastic teachers. The program is professional but delightful. A few days before I arrived, I chatted by phone for 15 or 20 minutes with Scott (owner, with wife, Maru). His assessment must have been fairly accurate because the small group I was placed in the first day was exactly the right level for what I needed. My second and third week, I was the only one in the class since I was apparently the only student at my level. Having a private teacher turned out to be great, but I initially had some hesitancy about not having any other students in my group. I was in a similar situation a couple of years ago—on another subject—and the one-on-one did not give me the interaction that a small group can. However, my “private tutor” at Livit, Luis, got it right. The food—as the other reviews have said again and again—was excellent. I can’t add much to their reviews except to say that it’s all true. How lunch was served is also a small example of how well-managed this school is. One or more of the three central family members who own the school made it a point to stay present during the entire lunch. This wasn’t awkward—they are all three delightful—and I didn’t even realize they were intentionally doing it until the day before I left. What it meant to have them there was that if the conversation lagged, or there were introverted students, they were there to subtly act as host. And it meant that people asked if they were saying things correctly in Spanish, and people could ask where we were going for that week on the excursion, and so on. I realize this is a tiny example, but it is an example of how much thought the owners have put into the school. I stayed in an Airbnb my first week and then moved to the room at the school. The room at Livit was delightful: clean, well-decorated, well-stocked kitchen for easy meals, nicely cleaned twice a week, and obviously an easy commute to class. I felt safe in the central area of the city. I enjoyed the weekly excursions and the food and the surprises (one morning all the classes walked together to the Mercado a block away for breakfast; one day for lunch, instead of eating at the school, we went to a well-known Mexican roasted chicken fast food chain restaurant—which was delicious btw). All of this obviously added to the experience. But what I came for and, for me, what was most important, was the teaching. It was excellent. Professional and subtly sophisticated. The right mix of conversation with gentle corrections, reading comprehension, grammar, explanation of words that came up and have multiple meanings. High quality. I had been planning to go to some other city in Mexico in 4 or 5 months for some more Spanish. Livit was so well-done, however, that I’m thinking about going back there. I would never have thought I would say that because I would like to continue seeing different parts of the country. Compared with my Puebla experience, though, other language institutes may well be a disappointment.

We had a wonderful experience at Livit Immersion Center! Scott, Maru, and family are extremely kind and generous, and our teacher Luis was terrific. Everything was wonderful: the classes, the lunches, the afternoons with guides, the excursions, and the opportunities to get to know our fellow students. Puebla is an amazing place to visit, and we learned a tremendous amount about language, culture, and history. I'd recommend getting yourself up to at least advanced beginner status before arriving to get the most out of the experience (e.g., participating fully in conversations), but they do a great job of catering to different levels.

Livit is a wonderful school both in person and online. The teachers are supportive and knowledgeable. They encourage you to grow and give you activities to do that are appropriate for whatever level you're at. If you're in person, the structure of the classes and the day are excellent--and the excursions on Thursday are fun. The food, of course, is also great! I'm also happy to be able to take classes online to keep up with my courses. Thank you for a great program!

I spent two weeks at the Livit center. The school is very professional but yet has a chill atmosphere. Scott and the rest of his staff truly care about making everyone’s experience an incredible one. My teacher had 10 years of experience and used very effective teaching strategies. My class had 3 students total. In the afternoons (Monday-Wednesday). Each person is paired with a local guide and you explore the many sites Puebla has to offer. Thursday is an excursion to nearby locations. Each day and experience is tailored to maximize opportunities to practice and incorporate Spanish. The meals at lunchtime are delicious and it’s a great opportunity to get to know other students. I highly recommend this school and hope to make it back again soon. Paul

Livit is one of many great language programs that I've attended in Mexico. All of their teachers are attentive, friendly, and helpful. However, there are a number of parts of the Livit immersion program experience that takes it above and beyond any other program I've attended. First, the included meals were always fantastic, and a great way to spend time learning about Mexican cuisine and get to know the other students in different levels. Second, the weekly excursions provided opportunities to see less-traveled parts of the surrounding area and improve knowledge of Mexico's history. Third, three days a week students are connected with a local tour guide after normal class hours have concluded. These tours provided great opportunities to practice conversational Spanish as well as get to know Puebla better. After a month at Livit, my Spanish had improved immensely. I would highly recommend the school to those serious about becoming fluent!

I did a three-week immersion class in Feb/March 2023. It was a great experience. Livit has a relaxed, friendly environment with very nice facilities. My teacher was excellent, and the classes were informative and enjoyable. I highly recommend it. Puebla is a beautiful city, walkable to most sites, and the food is fantastic. A great place to learn and practice spanish.

My husband and I were recommended Livit Spanish Immersion program by an acquaintance who used to run a Spanish immersion school of her own – she said she trusted Livit to do a good job for people she recommends in their direction. Her assessment is correct! Scott and Maru and their team run a terrific program! My husband and I each had a phone conversation with Maru prior to our attendance – this little ‘interview’ was not at all stressful, simply an evaluation tool for them to place us in a class with an appropriate level of learning. The classes are small, thus there is opportunity for personal attention to individual questions! The school itself is impeccably clean, a renovated house with several classrooms, a truly comfortable and inviting space. We have to comment on the lunches! Maru’s mother, Flor, prepared lunch for us at the school, wow. Wholesome, healthy goodness, comida deliciosa! Scott and Maru and their staff were constantly available and interacting among the students, employing and encouraging us to use our Spanish, no matter our level of knowledge. Weekly ‘field trips’ as a group to sites in the area, and individual time one-on-one time with our guides during the week – a lot of opportunity to explore and employ what we were learning. We spent 3 weeks with Livit Immersion in Puebla in October 2022. We can definitely recommend Scott and Maru and the entire Livit team to anyone wishing to learn / improve their level of Spanish! Darla and Bill Stepanko

I can't recommend Livit more highly. Maru and Scott run an excellent school -- and have a beautiful campus where students can study, mingle and dine together. Their educational program is excellent. And the city of Puebla is a beautiful World Heritage Site with much to explore. I continue studying online with Maru -- and hope to return to the campus soon.

This Spanish school and the family who runs it is nothing short of fantastic! My wife is an advanced student and I am intermediate. We both were placed with terrific instructors in small classes. The curriculum with afternoon walking guides throughout Puebla and the excursions are wonderful history lessons in Spanish. We like our instructors so much that we both continue with weekly on-line classes. We highly recommend LIVIT to everyone wishing to learn any level of the Spanish language. Absolutely amazing place. I took classes online for a year and then went to the Livit to visit in person. I am now fluent in Spanish and living in South America thanks to Vania and her family. I did a lot of research on Spanish immersion programs across Mexico and Central America and this one is by far the best and it’s less expensive than most. Highly recommend!!!!!

(Translated by Google) As a complete Spanish beginner, I spent 4 weeks at the Livit language school. I had booked the course in Germany six months in advance. The booking was uncomplicated via the website and later by email. Scott (head of the school) was also available from Germany at any time. In general, he and the entire teaching and housekeeping team were super friendly, courteous, helpful and tried to answer all questions about life in Mexico, travel, internships, etc. I had organized my accommodation privately. I had attended a 4-week course with another language student. Care is taken to ensure that there are students of the same language level in the courses. In general, the groups are rather small, which makes learning all the more effective. In class we mainly worked with blackboards, audio material and worksheets. We were given a folder to collect the worksheets and a vocabulary booklet. The weeks are structured according to a timetable, consisting of a 4-hour language course in the morning (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - with a break in between, of course ;)), a lunch break from 1:00 p.m. to approx. 1:45 p.m. and a subsequent meeting with a local around 4:00 p.m. During the lunch break we all gathered in the garden of the language school and Scott's family cooked delicious (!!!) Mexican food for us. In the convivial round you could also get to know the other language students and the hosts better. The meetings with the locals (mostly students) took place from Monday to Wednesday. Meeting point was the nearby Zócalo (5min walk). With the guides you could discover Puebla, visit museums or viewpoints or just sit in a café. Everyone was always very nice and helpful. Unlike the weekdays before, Thursday was the excursion day - i.e. after lunch we left with Scott and his van for small excursions about 1 hour away. The excursion destinations included markets, monasteries, cities, etc. Depending on the activity, Scott brought us closer to the history and culture of Puebla and Mexico. I always liked these days very much because I got to know and experienced places that I would not have visited as a normal tourist. CONCLUSION: I had a wonderful, educational time from start to finish. The days were exhausting because you hear or speak (or try to) Spanish all day long, but that makes it incredibly effective! The school and the entire team seemed authentic and trustworthy to me. I felt in good hands and safe at all times! Absolute recommendation! Absolute Empfehlung!
