One of, if not the best restaurant in Puebla. Great selection of traditional dishes, including the best tasting mole in town. The mixed drinks are excellent and the service is superb. I highly recommend this restaurant. Appropriate dress attire is highly recommended.

This is a must of you are visiting downtown. If you want to taste local food / modern cuisine this is the place . All starters are really good and the “mole” sampler is also amazing if you want to taste all different type of “moles”

I loved this place. Service was impeccable and the food was delicious. I got the chicken soup with rice, very flavorful, and my friend got the beef broth which was also delicious. We then had the mole tasting with shredded duck which was fantastic, and each had a main. The shrimps were fantastic. I'd come here again!

The best restaurant in Puebla. Found this place on CNN travel and while it is touristy, the food is amazing. Six months later and I have yet to have mole. Go early to snag a good table!

The restaurant owes its name to the murals depicting famous Puebla figures, which the staff can point out to you. The menu is extensive and traditional, and it makes it really challenging to choose. In the end we went for a mole poblano with turkey and a plate of vegetarian enchiladas with three different types of mole. Absolutely incredible. All was rich, complex and perfectly executed. Worth mentioning also the salsas, very delicious. The staff is fantastic: attentive, prepared, helpful and friendly. Definitely the best service we experienced during our month-long honeymoon. Prices are extremely reasonable, they carry very good wine (not a given), and the coffee is good, plus they have a very good selection of local and national mezcal. 10 out of 5!

Beautiful dinner in the centre of Puebla. The location is so warm and murals make the place colorful. The food tastes very good, and his appearance makes you want to try everything. The service is very attentive and gentle. For sure I would recommend it to others.

Outstanding! The raclette cheese sauce for my daughter's steak was the best I've had anywhere in the world. Food was very flavorful and of great quality. The steak was tender enough you could cut it without a knife. Margarita de mezcal was fantastic! Great service and ambiance. I liked the little bags we could use for our masks while at the table. Absolutely a fantastic place. If you come to Puebla, this place should be on your list.

Nice atmosphere, but the food was less than satisfactory for the price. The bread was cold and hard, borderline stale. We ordered the Trilogía Cemita and the Degustación de Mole. Both, simple plates, lacked flavor. I came with high expectations based off the reviews, but, unfortunately, it was less than sub-par. Our server, Adolfo, had zero personality and didn't make us feel welcome. I wouldn't recommend this place.

We spend a week at Puebla and we could not leave without eat here which by the way is one of the best rated restaurants at Puebla. The place is pretty well located, just two blocks away from the city centre, and its name was set because inside the place you can find several wall paintings created by Antonio Álvarez Morán that shows very important people whose have built Puebla’s history. The restaurant is huge, is a two story building with a little bar and a small store (not talking about the oxo) both part of the place, between them is the main entrance where you will find a friendly hostess who will assign you a table either at low level or up stairs, you can choose which place works for you. Once you are in the table you will be pampered by the cosy attention provided by the staff of the place, in our case Fernando was the one who took care of us while in place, very attentive and willing to assist us. The courses menu is not so extensive, so that, you will surely find something that will fulfill your hunger, but it is all the contrary with the wines and liquors menu, it is pretty extensive, but if you know what you are looking for, you will surely find the perfect pair for your food, but if you have no idea what to ask for, you can request help from your waiter. The food here is delicious, all the elements used in all the courses are brought by local producers, so that, you will taste premium and fresh ingredients. In our case we ordered a “Sopa Poblana” and a “Mole Poblano” with Duck Magret, both dishes where delicious, the soup was very fresh, I mean, you can taste each ingredient freshness. And the Mole, well is one of the best “Moles Poblanos” I have ever tasted, it is a little bit hot but sweet in the same way, just like a “Mole Poblano” have to be. And for the grand finale, we ordered a “Regalo de Quetzalcoatl” which is a coulan stuffed with hot melted cocoa, when you cut it on halfs the melted chocolate runs out on the dish, it really worths to wait the 20 minutes which take to prepare it. There is no dress code in place and you can get in without booking, but I recommend always to have a call so as to schedule a reservation.

I have to start with my wonderful server Lucio. He is very patient & accommodating. His recommendation & service is excellent 👍🏾 👏🏾 We had one of the best lamb , grilled to perfection, no salsa or any additions, enjoyed pure meat ! Mole chicken was extremely flavorful. Happy tummy & wife 😁 Highly recommended 👍🏾 Ambiance was great.

Wow - outstanding food experience in Puebla! One of my highlights on my trip. The food is unrivaled and provides a door to Mexican cuisine. The staff is extremely friendly and helped us chose the best dishes. Also, the place is very cozy and has many rooms to have a private atmosphere while experiencing the view. Can anyone going to Puebla highly recommend going and making a reservation before!

El Mural de los Poblanos has and reputation for its traditional cuisine, which is true in paper, not so much in my experience. I found the atmosphere to be beautiful and The menu selection quite authentic. I wasn’t impressed however by the quality of their food or service, which is very unusual for a restaurant of it’s category. All dishes delivered at the same time (appetizers and entrances), slow service, bread and water that took forever, you get the idea. The deserts however were outstanding! Their flan lived up to expectations! The restaurant also has a charming shop by the entrance which sells their moles, soaps and lotions (sample them in the toilets), Mezcal, and other local delicacies. Worth the stop. It might have been a random not-so-good day at the restaurant, but in any case, my experience.

Iconic restaurant with great local dishes and top service Located in a beautiful inner-City building near the cathedral of Puebla, the inside of the restaurant is decorated with wall paintings. Authentic and charming! Typical food of Puebla are available making it a great stop for every person visiting the city. Moles are excellent and the restaurant respects the season for specific dishes (Chile en Nogada for example, only available from July to September) underlining the desire to offer quality food. We went for a mole degustation which was a great way to try several variants of these unique dish. Plates are decently served but a 2 courses are required for a proper meal. The service is like in many places across the country: excellent.

The most delicious meal I had in Puebla. As a vegan, it’s hard to find creative dishes without meat. El Mural de los Poblanos had a vegetarian menu and were incredibly accommodating to update dishes for a vegan. A definite try for vegans and vegetarians in the area.

Christmas dinner at Mural was excellent, we always love coming here for special occasions. Highlights included smoked cheese stuffed chipotles in a Christmas mole, and the incredible turkey special. The tostadas with chapulines were also lovely. Service is always top notch. Prices are very high, but worth it. Nice wine list. They could use more local craft beer.

This was the best restaurant we dined in in Mexico. The price was reasonable. The service was soooo attentive, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Every dish was unique and the flavor has many different subtle layers. Not to mention, all the sauces tasted fantastic.

Pricy but great food, ambience, and service. Try the chalupas, any of the mole sauces. The location is just 2 blocks off the main zocalo. The murals on the wall are cool and depict historical characters and events. Service is friendly as usual and they have a very clean restroom.

We had a lovely dinner here. It’s a little pricey but in return you get very attentive service and simply very good food! We wanted to try the famous mole poblano and it did not disappoint. Such a rich taste! We were also offered a side of some salsas with bread which we expected to be charged but it wasn’t. We also received a tasty appetizer on the house. To top it off we tried the warm chocolate cake and it was delicious. The staff here are very friendly and correct. Some speak English and those who don’t were very patient with our non-existent Spanish. There is a menu in English and also plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommend to have a meal here.

Excellent Mole, different and better than the time I had Michelin star Mole in New York. With just a hint of bitterness and a sweet floral taste, it was a heavy meal and extremely enjoyable. Had a Cholula lager which was also delicious. They also served me this rice thing that I didnt order but was incredible. I also love that they give you a bib when you order mole. Would def come back.

You NEED to visit this place! Everything is perfect, the service, the setting, the food, EVERYTHING! They were super kind to us and the food is heavenly, a must try. A bit pricey of course but it is worth it ♥️

Had an amazing experience here. While on holiday we visited this restaurant for our anniversary, the food was delicious, the staff waiting on us were amazing, they even surprised us with a complementary dessert for our anniversary. We loved this place.

Fantastic! My wife had the Enchiladas with 3 different Mole, I had the shredded beef salad "Salpicón de res". The Mole's were delicious and the beef salad had a wonderful flavor. The side salsa was good with one being very spicy which I love. Staff was very friendly and patient with our lack of Spanish. The digital menu in English made it easy to order.

I wasn’t at all impressed with the food in Puebla and even resorted to eating at McDonald’s one night. I asked a local to recommend a place he would go to eat and it brought me to El mural de los poblanos. WOW! The best Chile en nogada I’ve ever had in my life. It is perfect and I can’t wait wait to go back, just to eat here. Delicious!!

The food is nice and tasty, you can try a mix of moles. Though, I'd rate the food as good, but not exciting. The service and atmosphere were great though. They have a very broad wine selection. Tried Robu Nebbiolo and we're excited.

Absolutely amazing service! Make sure you ask for the separate vegan menu if you're interested, the tacos de canasta and the sopa de frijol was delicious! Highly recommended adding the avocado sauce from tacos onto the soup :) very beautiful atmosphere, and the wine was delightful. Perfect for a date or solo like me :)

We loved this restaurant. We tried the nopal salad and the mole sampler and both were great!! Loved the local bread and tiny taco as a sample appetizer too. Would absolutely return.

  • 4/5 Gabriel Q. 9 months ago on Google
The food is good, well prepared and with nice presentation. The flavour and technical achievment is a mixed bag. Thing is they charge for excellence. So if you go to any other restaurant in the are you can have anything thenoffer at half the price; grantedbthe atmosphere will be lacking but the food will be much more closely matched by the price.

A great place to come for dinner. Lots of meals to choose from and a good place to try mole. The mural on the wall is very interesting and makes for a nice photo. The ambiance is nice. The food is good. When we came the service was good too. It’s a close walk from the old town square. Worth a visit.

Great moles to be eaten here! I recommend the mole sampler plate especially, since you get to try 5 different mole specialties of the region. The service is very good as well, and overall the restaurant has a great value for the money.

The place is gorgeous 😍 and the service was fast. The food was delicios, the portions weren't really good but they were enough. I strongly recommend the trilogia de moles and the chile ancho with cheese, these were my favorites! Absolutely will come back! About prices, it is a little bit expensive but it is worth to try!

If you are in Puebla, you are in Mole country and this restaurant has great mole. I had the sampler from mild to hot. Great!

Stumbled upon this spot my first day in Puebla and came back weekly. The menu is traditional, the food is fantastic and the service is always incredible. Definitely stop into this restaurant for a great meal. Don’t miss out!

Very nice restaurant, very close to fine dining. The mole selection was excellent, and I especially liked their sweet in-house mole. I don't think paying extra for the duck was worth it in the tasting that I did. Their beer selection was acceptable.

Great food, great service and not expensive. We were staying at the Quinta Real nearby and having eaten the previous night at our hotel we decided to go for something different. We were not disappointed. This restaurant serves local food and does it well.
