This restaurant is located by the water. You can hear the waves in the background. I saw local residents and tourist alike at the restaurant. The menu had all the great dishes from the island. If you are not Spanish speaking, there were many bilingual staff.

Delicious food, the service could be more swift but the place is a total vibe so waiting for the food is worth it. Fresh fresh and tasty! The langostines a la papi come in a yummy creamy turmeric “curry” sauce. Ceviche is fresh and the drinks are also good! The piña colada “be la fruta” is the best piña colada experience you’ll have in DR!

I don’t give 5 stars. Papi’s is on the beach with a beautiful view of the ocean. We came for dinner with a big group including kids. They were very friendly and seated us right away. Warning: this beach has terrible mosquitos at night. I was attacked up and down my legs even though we got bug spray. The wait staff tried their best. The food was just ok. The pasta was overcooked and the shrimp were not grilled even though we had ordered the grilled version. Overall, I would not go back because of the mediocre food and the mosquitos but if it’s your first time, try it. I appreciate the effort by the staff and the good atmosphere.

The beautiful seating on the beach, beneath the palms and mini lights, just adds to the absolute beauty and tastes of the dishes served. Amazing staff, and proud co owner watching over with "hands on" pride. A "must" to go to and enjoy on the beach.

Came highly recommended from a few friends and Airbnb host but found it to be nothing extraordinary. Small menu of Italian seafood. View on beach is lovely but was not blown away by anything. The juice of the day seemed like it was from a box not fresh, the calamari was good but small, and the fish soup stock was clearly from a stock cube. They accept cash or Mastercard only.

Die Dorada war ein wenig klein für das Geld, aber absolut super. Die Camarones waren genial im Geschmack und auch die Präsentation wie man am Bild sehen kann. Abgesehen davon sind wir direkt am Meer gesessen.

The service is the absolute worst. All the dishes come out separate, I.e. bread does not come with the escargot, bread took an extra 20 mins after asking three times. Steak was not cooked right and we had to go up to the servers several times for additional drinks. When we asked for separate bills at the end of the dinner they initially said no. We asked to speak to the manager, who was the owner and he refused to talk to us. Instead, he told the server to present us with the one bill and we separate it for them. One of THE worst dining experiences of my life. So many better restaurants in the area.

Camarones hatten einen Nachgeschmack nach kloake,die Sauce hat nichts mehr mit der alt herkömmlichen Sauce von Papi zu tun. Langostinos waren OK, gelbe Sauce zu wenig Knoblauch. zu wenig Salz, Gewürz Recept a la Papi ging wahrscheinlich verloren, schade ich war Stammgast die letzten 21 Jahren.

We wandered into this spot on a rainy afternoon for lunch. Three folks, one vegetarian, and we had an awesome meal! My friend and I both went for the prawns “a la papi” while our vegetarian friend had a pasta dish with tomato and basil. Prawns were HUGE and served in a pot of delicious yellow (saffron? Turmeric? Idk) sauce. Prawns came with choice of side - I had linguine. I had a perfectly refreshing passion fruit juice to wash it down. We were the only people there at first, but place filled up as we ate. Great beachside location, and covered from the rain. Delicious! Would absolutely recommend!

This is also on the main strip of Cabarete.. 🐔 with mushrooms was good, but a little dry. Daughter had a 🍤 pasts that was good. Definitely one.of the better locations. Wine glass.tated old. Price was fair.

We have been going to Cabarete for our winter vacation since 2015 ,we usually go for about a month or so . During all our vacations we would dine at least 3 times each year until 2020 ( COVID) limited us to 2 times . So for 2 years we would have mouth watering memories of Casita de Papi and were so looking forward to returning this year 2023 . To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Everything had changed, no longer were you greeted with a smile and attention like before,we weren’t shown to our table by the owner or head waiter after waiting for at least 5 minutes we decided to seat ourselves at a table. There was several staff standing around but none approached us until we raised our hand and said excuse me, finally a waiter came over and took our drink orders which received about 10 minutes later by a different waiter, another 10 minutes went by when another waiter came over with the menus to which we mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary and that it was our tradition to eat at Casita de Papi, no reaction,no comment to our mention. After leaving us with the menus he returned about 10 minutes later to take our orders which was the big pan of shrimp a la Papi with roasted potatoes. On our previous visits while waiting for our meal they would bring crusty bread with homemade bruschetta, not this time . Our meal arrived about 15 minutes later and we had to ask for bread. The shrimps were no longer mouth watering but bland ; the potatoes were cold and dry . No one came by to ask if we were enjoying our meal,no one asked if we would like another drink. When we finished our shrimps they removed our plates but no one asked if we wanted a dessert or coffee to complete our meal so once again we had to get the attention of a waiter who was standing around the service table ( actually he was staring down at his cell phone and talking with a group of other waiters) he finally came over and took our order for the crème brûlée and coffee. The crème brûlée was under cooked meaning the sugar didn’t crack . No mama Juana was offered that was customary before COVID. They brought the bill over ( a different waiter) never once asking if we had enjoyed our evening . No smiles, no banter ,nothing. We were expecting the higher prices, we were expecting that our favorite waitress wouldn’t be there, but we were not expecting that the food and service would be so dramatically different. Before COVID we always would have rated it 4-5 stars,now I can’t bring myself to rate it a 2 star . Now I understand why we no longer need to make a reservation; repeat customers like us are not returning or recommending it to fellow travelers.

This place is amazing. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cool and the service was outstanding. The waiter was kind and professional and also the owner took care of us making us feel good. We also met him in another place (for breakfast) and he said hello to us in such a kind way. Highly recommended.

This is definitely one of the most delicious and interesting restaurants in Cabarete. It was the first meal I had when I arrived in Cab and one of the most memorable. The menu is heavy on the seafood, but they also offer steak and escargot, which are both pretty delicious. I've tried almost everything on the menu and it's.all.good. I had the Shrimp Cream Soup and the Bananas flambé (pictured below). For the main dish, Shrimp "a la Papi" is the way to go (or Langostinos, if in season) - this dish with the yellow sauce is what you see in all the travel pics. They only accept Mastercard or cash. Staff is super friendly and I believe they all speak English (not the case in every establishment). It's right on the beach and does get a bit sandy but it's fine. Quite expensive but worth every penny.

Had the langoustines de Papi, utterly delicious! Fresh, beautifully spiced. It’s pricy but worth it!

Great food, the staff is friendly, the drinks need some improvement. Bad thing is that you are limited to pay with mastercard or cash so had to go to the atm to pay with cash. Overall a great experience for me and the fam.

Excellent menu, exquisite views and lovely staff. Right on the sand, La Casita de Papi has the menu to keep your tummy full and the views to keep your eyes happy. Enjoyed a delicious dinner with my partner on the sand and would 10/10 recommend for coming back.

Slowwwww service, and the waiter only had four tables. White wine served warm, rare tuna overcooked. Salad on the side was simply lettuce, and the linguini was boring.

We were fortunate enough to have a fabulous meal here on my last night before going home. The food was excellent and delicious along with great service and a clean area. We were able to sit in the upstairs area and watch the ensuing thunder and lightening storm as it passed through Cabarete - a night to remember and a restaurant to return to on my next visit in 2023. Great local run shots with Michael after the meal too.

Great food and fun. Your entree sizes are less than stellar. Stop making customers bear the brunt of your greed. You have good options, but im downgrading the stars.

La Casita de Papi delivered a great service. The waiter was very attentive and spoke English. The shrimp or langostinos with their signature sauce is something you should not miss testing out 🤌

We had ceviche and dorade,all very tasty. Also some real bread...soooo good haha Our first meal at Cabarete was a succes,we will come back .

We have eaten there 2 times and every time we felt nauseated from the food. This time we ended up all having food poisoning : vomiting, diarrhoea, and general sensation of weakness. The fish was most likely not fresh due to 2 reasons: - the sea was too rough for fisherman to fish so sea food was not a fresh catch. -heavy rain brought few clients so there was not a good rotation of food and we got seafood that was sitting too long in the fridge. Would not recommend
