Isla Cuale is a small lush island in the middle of the Cuale River located near where the river flows into Banderas Bay. It has several colorful shops selling a wide variety of handcrafted Mexican merchandise much of which is made by local artisans . There are several restaurants and places to get a cold beverage. The large tropical trees provide shade and there are several benches to sit and relax. There are public restrooms and the walking path is paved and easy to navigate. It is a pleasant spot to casually stroll and shop while taking in the scenery. It is about a ten-twelve minute cab ride from the cruise terminal and gives you a chance to see portions of downtown Puerto Vallarta and ride on the bumpy cobblestone roads. It’s a quiet relaxing spot and well worth a visit. The merchandise runs the from the low quality to wonderful crafted high quality goods. It is a real treat for the eyes. Bargaining is recommended. While there wander along the Malecón and enjoy views of the bay and the many statues. Don’t miss this enjoyable experience.

Worth walking through and seeing. Good prices at flea market. Also had a great cultural museum and local cultural center was cool. My wife and I listened to a local student play piano in an empty square in the Cultural Center for a little while. It was romantic and unique.

A quaint little place amidst the bustle of the city. Easy to miss it unless you go looking for it. If you are looking to buy souvenirs, this us the place to go to and be prepared to bargain! Lots of stores selling handmade stuff...you can actually watch the people make the bracelets next to the stalls. Loved going there!

Just love the Isla Cuale. Beautiful nature abounds, plentiful traditional Mexican shops and the River Cafe restaurant should be experienced. The length of the entire Isla cuale should be walked from Banderas Bay to the Sierra Madre mountains. A leisurely 20 minute stroll.

The walk is nice and worth doing. The crafs weren't really so crafty or nice... except for a few artists that had original work to show.
