The only place I visited twice during my stay. Stumbled in when I was looking for a place to grab a quick bite before my 10am tour. Lucky me, it was Sunday brunch. The food was fresh and service was fantastic. They had a great selection of traditional Mexican and traditional American breakfast. I came back on a Saturday for their regular menu and it was great.

Food was excellent, service was a tad slow but good, the reason for my overall 1/5 is because there was a table smoking cigars in the restaurant. Not only was it off-putting for the meal but we ended up feeling sick to our stomach after our lovely meal. We were willing to tip more than average for great dinner and service however we left them with our standard 15%. We will not be back and we will not recommend. It started after we had begun our dinner service, had we known ahead of time, we would have selected a different establishment. Apparently it was a favour from the owner for a private party, it's a shame that the rest of the patrons had to deal with it.

Excellent 2 for 1 margaritas at happy hour (12-3). Plus they have the best patio overlooking the water on the river.

Always one of our favorite spots in PV. Start with 2 for 1 margaritas to excellent food and service. Treat yourself to a Mexican coffee too.

Truffle risotto and shrimp super good. Wife got the duck. Really good duck. Only thing that could’ve been better was slightly undercooked scalloped potatoes but it wasn’t really an issue. Service was really good! Overall definitely one to try!

Thanksgiving was my first time there. It's a lovely restaurant with lots of fresh air. The wait staff all wore their masks correctly covering their nose and mouth. The food was good and the passion fruit martini was heavenly.

The service here was incredible. Our server, we don’t remember his name, maybe Giovhanni?) was so so good!!! Drinks top notch. Fajitas were great too. The river view was perfect. Thanks you all

This was our last meal in Mexico, and I couldn't be any happier that we chose to go to River Cafe before leaving. It was some of the absolute best service we experienced in Mexico, and the food was wonderful. The toast and salsa that comes with the meal blew my mind. There is also a basket of pastries, sold at a very low price, that someone walks around with before the actual meal, and I wish that our appetite had been big enough to try one! But even as much as I filled up on the toast and salsa, my chicken and pumpkin flower crepe was so good that I completely cleaned my plate. The green juice was a nice addition to my meal. And the environment can't be beat. It's all open-air with tons of fans to keep things nice & cool, and there is a stunning view of the river. The restaurant itself was beautiful, too. One of the best spots in Puerto Vallarta!

We had a good brunch here, listening to Harpist play in the background. Service was very good, attentive. Food was good, and I recommend 😋 👌🏼

We found this place on a whim and loved it. Dining isn't just about the food, but it's a crucial part. We genuinely enjoyed everything. The decor was gallery worthy, and they had a very talented duet playing great singer/songwriter covers at the perfect volume for a restaurant. The staff was Michelin star skilled. I believe we met the owner on our way out, and she was very polite and kind. Located off the Malecon, it's nestled next to the river and shaded by a canopy of tropical plants.

We found this place while exploring. The ambiance was really cool. It was hotter than hell that day and the tables are semi outdoors. So we were a little tired and cranky and probably didn't enjoy it to the degree we probably would have. But they had mist that helped. The food was very good.

Nice Italian food, it is a bit on the expensive side. But love it overall. They have a separate vegetarian menu! We came here twice and had Truffle Risotto 4/5 Baked Brie 4/5 Asparagus Soup 5/5 Quesadilla Platter 5/5 Everything was very fresh and lovely. Ambience is also nice and is close to the river.

One of the oldest family restaurants in Puerto Vallarta in the magical location of Rio Cuale. It is definetly a must go place to visit either for breakfast or dinner. All the food is delicious and the atmosphere and scenery by the river is one of a kind.

Beautiful ambiance, excellent service, and delicious food. The presentation of the entrées added to an overall great dining experience. We celebrated a birthday and anniversary, they serenaded us...it was absolutely beautiful. A wonderful way to end our visit. Can't wait to go back.

They sat us out by the river and it was so awesome. The staff were very attentive. The hamburger with guacamole was so good on its toasted bun. Wow....

This place is beyond amazing! There were so many vegetarian options (they have a dedicated menu for veg and gluten free). The food was incredible, the drinks were delicious (highly recommend the passion fruit and the strawberry margaritas), and the service and atmosphere couldn't have been better. We were simply blown away, and returned several times during our trip.

Great breakfast. We went here on our first and last day in PV. The only thing that bothered me was there was a large party sitting behind us, they didn’t like their seats and moved, I believe it was the owner( older man) and he cleared the table and another server reused the cutlery that was at this table, this should have been washed. The owner re-set the table and didn’t even wipe it clean.

This is a beautiful, quiet and relaxing place with good service and good food, where you can decompress from the hustle & bustle. It’s one of my favorite restaurants in PV, loved by my family as well.

The kindest and most attentive waiters! The food was delicious and quickly prepared. I had the Omelette Ranchero. Lovely lush surroundings.

Gorgeous open air pavilion restaurant. Visited for the Saturday brunch. Loved the harp player. Service was a bit slow and they seemed to be training some new servers. Food was good, except they added mayo on the egg sandwich despite no mention of it on the menu (yuck!). Thankfully they replaced it with no issue. Shrimp and pineapple omelet was delicious. The drinks were just right. It was the end of the dry season, so the river was mostly dry, but the decor made up for it. The dining rooms are enormous; I can't imagine how loud and crowded this place would be when full. Great brunch.

Beautiful atmosphere, very nice restaurant. We had brunch on the balcony over the river. Croissant sandwich, verde chilaquiles, and a pollo gordita. All was great but the gordita hit the spot, it was really good. We were also spectators of a small alligator taking down a small black bird in the river for breakfast, it was as wild as it gets! Gotta try this place.

The perfect Valentine's Day dessert. We stopped here just for a little dessert and it was fantastic. We had the chocolate mouse and it was very rich- just as we like it The atmosphere was really charming and I hope to be able to come back and try it again some time.

The queso fundido was delicious! We had a bad experience with service. Our drinks were incorrect and we didn’t get our tortilla nor napkins with our meals. We had to hunt down our server every time we needed something because he would not return promptly. Otherwise, good vibes and food! Margaritas were good too!

We absolutely loved this place, came here twice during our 1 week stay and would have come back more if we had discovered it sooner. Amazing food, service, and atmosphere! The staff is so friendly, helpful, quick, and professional. The value is awesome and it stood out from the other places we ate at.

Excellent food as always. Liked the unique presentation of the calamari appetizer. A must stop every time we're in PVR!
