We had some time to kill after we checked out of our hotel but before we went to the airport so we were recommended La Palapa beach club as a place to go. It was so great! We got 2 comfy beach chairs and an umbrella for $500 pesos a person for the day (just the adults, our little girls were free) that we were able to spend on food and drinks. The food was EXCELLENT, much better than we had at the resort we had stayed at and the guys working there were very attentive. It was a great spot right on the beach and perfect for us to relax in our last hours in Mexico. We will definitely be coming back. Only negative was the vendors on the beach were pretty in your face but we still had a great time.

Lovely lovely meal on the beach. Oceanside experience that can’t be beat. We ordered coconut shrimp, duck mole enchiladas, beef short rib, and local catch of the day - sea bass. For dessert, churros and mascarpone flan. Cocktails and espressos 👌🏼 Lots of local vendors pass by on the beach. A great mariachi band played us one of their favorites. Also enjoyed the fireworks that are set off along the coast every 30min or so!

Beautiful seaside location with food to match. A perfect sunset view. Efficient service. Good food. If you want to go at sunset in the busy season, make a reservation. I got in, but had to sit at a table in the bar. Still worth it.

Amazing views and the sunset is beautiful. The boats right next to the peer look great. Our waiter was good but the ribs were not very moist. If you get the salmon make sure it's cooked and not just seared. Although my girlfriends shrimp and mash potatoes were amazing. Great flavor so I would get those. Thanks for a memorable night.

Very good food and EXCELLENT service. The waiters were very attentive and we enjoyed the views from the lovely outdoor tables. Beautiful food presentation and very tasty too. We decided to share appetizers -- the guacamole was very good and we enjoyed the coconut shrimp too. We couldn't resist ordering the dessert because the appetizers were so good! Great spot on the beach to enjoy Puerto Vallarta's beautiful views.

The tuna tataki appetizer was the best seared tuna I’ve ever eaten. Highly recommend. For the entree we had the local fish fillet which was also delicious over a pile of cheesy garlic rice. The meal may look small but it was super filling! Tons of seating on the beach with beautiful view of the pier. Service was amazing here. Food came out in a timely manner and waiters were always available to come check in with us. This restaurant definitely isn’t a cheap or causal one. If you’re looking for a very nice sit down experience with beautiful views and delicious food, definitely come here!

La Palapa is a very cute restaurant right on the beach in Puerto Vallarta. We celebrated my friend's birthday here and it was the perfect spot. I highly recommend visiting during sunset as the views are incredible. Everything we ordered was delicious. I highly recommend the tortilla soup, it was top notch. I had the short ribs for dinner which I would definitely order again. I will definitely return on my next visit to PVR!

Fresh, delicious! Great restaurant on the beach, beautiful views with on sand or under roof seating. The Tortilla soup was the best I've ever had. Shrimp and crab enchiladas were amazing. Coconut shrimp, lobster, fish tacos...all delicious and the drinks are very good.

Haven't even left my seat yet to write that the tuna sandwich was one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. The bread was soft, the sauce was amazing, and the tuna was super flavorful. Tempted to come back again tomorrow just for that. Coconut shrimp also plump and very hearty. Very good. A little bit more pricey than places away from the beach but service was good and the beach views were nice.

Great place for brunch right on the beach right next to the pier. Really good selection of fresh drinks and food. The vendors are a little bothersome but definitely not overwhelming. We didn't need reservations, but visited on a Monday morning in May so that might have helped.

My 2 sons (24 and 26) and I went for a lunch and a final night dinner at this facility. The good: Excellent service and very friendly waiters. I am not sure why all servers are male, but all provided very good service. Our drinks were very good but my only complaint was the margaritas are very small, you do order a lot of them. The people watching is great, especially at lunch time. We found lunch was much better then dinner menu. Improvement: The flies are not only annoying but they are disease vectors. If you are using a company, fire them immediately. We asked for additional fans just to keep them off our table but a better approach to this matter is important to your patrons health. The street vendors are cool but being accosted while eating literally ever 5 minutes to buy items is really annoying. I know its an issue on the board walk but this really annoys your patrons. I think if they pest issues were handled better I would have given this a 5 star rating

Highly recommend for a nice dinner out. We came after sunset and it was still a very charming atmosphere - beautifully decorated. The service was amazing. Super attentive, friendly and personable. We started with the Al Pastor Pot stickers! Wow this was beyond what I expected and I think I might have had a dream about them! The Sea Bass was tender, very fresh and the accompaniments heightened the flavor. We also had the La Palapa Shrimp. It came with huge, tender and flavorful shrimp! They had a singer in the lounge which was really nice. I’d rate the service 8⭐️ actually.

I booked a reservation the day before my partners birthday and asked for a table on the beach. The hostess told me she couldn't guarantee it as people make reservations weeks in advance but would leave a note. When we arrived we were greeted and handed a cold towel to cool us down and were walked over to a beautiful table on the beach. The service was impeccable! Never had to ask or wait for anything. The pork pot stickers were delicious and the sauce was superb. I had the chicken and it was amazing! For dessert he ordered the chocolate explosion cake, which takes 15 minutes cause it's made fresh to order. I had the Mexican coffee which is always a GREAT show and absolutely delicious. We weren't expecting anything after that but once the coffee show was done all the waiters gathered to sing with another piece of cake with Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. So even though I was worried about making a late reservation or ruining someone's 60th birthday they did everything and more to make it a perfect night!

Great experience at La Palapa! I called a few weeks in advance to reserve a table on the beach, as we had a large group. They were extremely helpful and our table was ready when we arrived. Beautiful interior and setting. Our drinks and food were delicious and we had great service. The only detractor, were the vendors trying to sell their wares as we dined, but otherwise we had a fantastic time!

Wonderful atmosphere, location, service and the food was delicious. If you're looking for a nice romantic dinner location with a view, La Palapa Restaurant is your spot. We had the sea bass and beef short ribs, with coconut shrimp for appetizers. Delicious!

Had a fantastic dinner @ La Palapa last night, with Mazamitla & beet salads, red snapper filet. The beach sunset was sweet. Their service is fantastic.

La Palapa is a fine dining restaurant, service is great and the food is good. Probably a little bit more spices in the food would be appreciated. We ordered lobster, which was expensive, but everything else was fine. All of the servers were really nice. I would go back.

Great food and drinks, and a great dinning experience! We had our anniversary dinner here, during the sunset hour. The hostess was very kind and I was able to arrange a floral delivery to be placed at our table ahead of our arrival. The service was great here, and the atmosphere and ambiance were just amazing! I highly recommend this beach front restaurant if you want great food and spectacular views!

Location is unique by the beach. You have options to sit indoor, on terrace or by the beach! There was live music on Saturday night! Band was friendly and made the ambient relaxed and romantic. It's mostly a seafood restaurant. Despite not many options but every taste is accommodated. Service was relatively quick and responsive perhaps depending on busy they are. It's a pricy place but could be justified by the location and atmosphere. Overall was a pleasant experience.

Locals raved about La Palapa and, and I was told they have been here since 1959. A timeless place to have brunch and dinner (cena) and celebrate special moments especially anniversaries. Excellent service, good selection of drinks, and an amazing view of the ocean. Really enjoyed the evening ambiance, very romantic. Love the mariachi bands too. Very lively place and great for large groups on the beach, or a romantic dinner for two. Cheers!

The food was good and the location is beautiful but to be honest, I thought it was a bit overpriced. There’s many places to eat on the beach in PV and you can get just as good food for half the price. If you do go, I recommend the salmon! For two people (two drinks, one appetizer, two entrees, two desserts) it was ~$115 USD including tip.

Beautiful place for a sunset dinner. We had a large group with young kids so it was great to actually have the sand for the kids to play in while we ate that longer meal. Coconut shrimp was a favorite and the tomato soup had a really great flavor. Four stars because everything tasted really good, but nothing was out of this world.

We loved it. We would (and have) come back, and would recommend it to a friend. I would recommend you reserve a spot for the beach lounge (they call it Beach Club) area the day before. They require each person to spend $500MXN between food and drinks but that is easy to do. The service staff is very attractive, and their food and drinks are great. You are right next to the bridge which is perfect for some picture taking. Beach vendors are annoying and I hope restaurants could do something to deter them but i don't think there is much that can be done.

I have eaten at La Papala several times for dinner during my visits to Puerto Vallarta, but this was the first time I had breakfast at La Papala. The breakfast was incredible! The eggs were cooked perfectly, and tasted freshly gathered. The service was prompt and relaxing, The view of the beach was perfect to start off a wonderful day, I highly recommend La Papala, and do yourself a favor buy reserving a table on the beach.

I try 2 different tostadas , one with fresh tuna and the other with shrimps. Hard to find the tuna or the shrimps. It was more like a cucumber and red onion tostada ! That’s all I tasted. Food it’s pretty salty ( I think they use soy sauce in their dishes ) I had to order lemon on the side to cut the salt. The service was good and attentive. The green tuna tostada didn’t have a distinctive taste ! And the pineapple shrimp tostada tasted like onions and cucumbers not so much pineapple. Perhaps instead of the sweet salty sauce it came with they should have served it with a pineapple habanero sauce or something.

This restaurant typically has great food and service. This time, food was fair, lobster had a lot of membrane on the meat itself, the tuna was a little over cooked, their attention to detail was lost that night. La Palapa was very busy the night we went to dine. Our server had too many tables and thus the poor service!! Looked to me like they might have been short handed. For the kind of money one pays there, service and food should be superb!

Would definitely recommend for a nice dinner! The food was great, the vibe was amazing, and the service was great. Our drinks & food were delicious. Try the Robles cocktail & the lobster shrimp taquitos- so, so good. We went on our final night and had a beautiful sunset with music in the background. So lovely :)

Amazing food, amazing views, great service. Make a reservation as they get busy! And ask for the price of the lobster before you order. The coconut shrimp and duck mole enchiladas were amazing. Great drinks as well.

The food was wonderful!! Absolutely loved the pear ensalada & vegan symphony!! The coconut shrimp & fish were also delicious. Pricey for the area, however the ambiance & incredible live music didn’t disappoint!

The chefs know what they're doing! I started off with the beet salad which had a perfect texture with the honey, goat cheese, arugula and crumbs. The fish fillet was amazing. It was perfectly grilled and almost tasted like it had some kind of homemade zesty barbeque sauce on it. I would definitely have it many times over. My girlfriend had the fajitas de res. She loved it. I had a taste and the beef was tender, good cuts, salty but not too salty. Well done!

We went here twice, once for a small drink in the morning and again in the evening for a beachside dinner. All the food we ordered was excellent and very fresh, some of the cocktails we didn't like as much. For the sunset dinner on the beach, I think the experience we had was perfect, so beautiful and I couldn't see anywhere else on the beach that matched the atmosphere. It was very romantic, and as such, this place is far from cheap by Mexico standards! But it was quite reasonable for prices back in London. I would say the service generally is actually too fast. A waiter comes by almost every few minutes which is a bit much. I also had to ask multiple times for the table we wanted which was clearly available and free. It would be nice if this could be added more clearly to reservations.

La Palapa has an amazing view of the water and the design of the restaurant and tables on the beach makes for a beautiful experience. The bread that comes to the table was delicious, drinks were well made and very good. The service we received was top notch, friendly, and attentive. The only downsides I would say was that a couple people at my table ordered the Risotto and they couldn't finish it because "it tasted like dirt". We were surprised that we couldn't escape the beach vendors, even while dining at a restaurant. It was very difficult for us to get a taxi after dinner, the location is a little out of the main part of the area of PV.

Aloy was amazing! My parents were celebrating their 27th wedding anniversary. He must of overheard that my dad doesn’t drink and brought him sprite to “cheers” my mom for their anniversary. His dedication to serving us a great experience was amazing.

I chose LA Palapa for our first night on vacation in Puerto Vallarta. What a way to start a beautiful trip. We sat right on the beach just in time for sunset. The service was outstanding and always highly attentive. We had the tortilla soup and the seared tuna called tuna tatami for appetizers. Both were picture perfect plates and beyond delicious. For entrees we had the zarandeado local fish and the short rib. That fish was so perfect I actually regretted my short rib which was great but heavy and that fish was to the point that every bite gave you pause. You had to remember what you were doing level good. We ordered a fancy cheese cake to share and they also brought out a sparkler topped birthday treat for us too. We were sated and happy. We finished with a couple margaritas and called it a night. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant if you are looking for fine dining.

La Palapa didn’t blow us away, but we did have a nice experience there. The servers/service was great - very attentive and friendly. The chicken tortilla soup was pretty good but not amazing - didn’t need to order it. The coconut shrimp was good as an appetizer but was too much/too overwhelming as an entree. My husband’s fish entree was quite good, however. The view of the ocean was great, although we were constantly asked to purchase things by local vendors. They were all kind and not pushy though.

LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!! So romantic especially during sunset hour oh my gosh. The servers were so nice, but the food was meh… a lot of reviews recommended the tuna tataki but I found it too salty. My fish was quite good, but my partner and I did not enjoy my partners fish. The crème brûlée was okay, but overall nothing stood out to me except for the view and the service. Would I go again? Probably not because of the price (it was the most expensive dinner my partner and I went to) however, it was a delightful experience that I was happy to experience once.

La Palapa is a nice place for a good meal with amazing views on the beach. The service and staff are excellent. And although the food is good, I have had better in PV. And the portions are very small for what you pay (I think the food is better right next door at El Dorado). But for a gorgeous sunset view while dining on the beach, it is definitely worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Frank Q. 2 years ago on Google
Beef rib plate was outstanding. Service was great. A little on the $$$ side but worth it. Great dinner at sunset can't be beat. Atmosphere is world class and romantic. Came here to celebrate anniversary. We had three parties celebrate their birthday when we were there.

We had an amazing experience. This is a beautiful waterfront restaurant with tables on the beach. Our International women’s day, March 8th celebration was great) I definitely recommend trying Martini there. Everything on the menu is very tasty. The Beet salad was delicious and all the seafood dishes were fresh and excellent. The service staff here is very kind and helpful. I will remember this wonderful restaurant and this day for a long time.

We had breakfast and lunch here and spent the day at the beach club. We are staying at a condo right there so it's convenient. We had planned to also go for dinner during our trip but based on food quality at lunch, we decided not to. Ceviche was the consistency of canned tuna - odd - and not very flavorful. Shrimp tacos were also odd - crunchy fried tortillas that were flat with a cheese crisp on them as the base. And the shrimp didn't taste great. Not spoiled but not really fresh. Breakfast was better but I don't think it warranted the price. The beach club, however, was a great spot to spend the day. It is $500 pesos to rent a chair gorgeous the day but they will apply that toward your food and drink bill. Service was attentive and they even moved our umbrella when the sun shifted.

  • 5/5 Ben N. 11 months ago on Google
Great food! Great service! We had our 5 year wedding anniversary dinner here. They brought out champagne (on the house) after dinner to help us celebrate! Beautiful view of the beach! They regularly adjust the umbrella shades as the sun moves, then take them down to allow the perfect view of the sunset. Definitely recommend for a nice romantic meal!

When I'm at La Palapa I'm in my happy place. Travelling solo you sometimes get a bit ignored by staff, but on the three occasions I dined at La Palapa (two lunches and one dinner) I felt taken care of. For me, the service, the food and the ambience can't be beat. It's one of the best parts of a visit to Puerto Vallarta.
