This is more like a 3-star hotel pretending to be a nice resort hotel. Most of the staff are not friendly at all, so don’t expect a warm greeting upon arrival. The front “security” do not make you feel welcomed and are indifferent to the guests (like majority of the staff). I don’t think they understand what hospitality is, and the manager of this mayan palace location is even worse. We went during the rainy season, which is also their slow tourist season, so a lot of the amenities closed earlier than advertised. When it’s time to pay for your bill at checkout, they are sneaky and will put charges on your bill for things you did not use or agree to. For example, coffee and bottled water in the room are not free, and if you use them then you will be charged but we did not open or use any of these things during our stay and they still tried to charge us for it when we checked out. They also placed a “donation” to some children’s charity without asking for consent so we asked them to take it off. We will not be staying here again for many more reasons, but mainly because of their outdated rooms and lack of hospitality. It’s not worth the huge resort fees they charge here, as it is too expensive for what you actually get during your stay.

I would consider this a moderate resort. It's definitely not luxury and would lean more towards budget. The room was spacious and the bathroom was large and fairly updated. The bath/ body products were very nice. The grounds are well kept and there are plenty of lounge chairs around the pool and beach. My main complaint is the front desk. The women spoke very little English and was unable to answer the few questions we had. The concerierge was amazing, though, and made up for the front desk. Location is great for visiting the many fun places at the marina. The housekeeping staff was friendly and did an average job....they got the big stuff.

Know that they will do what it takes to make it happen. Your a special guest and they know that you are special. Love the atmosphere and happy ness they bring.

Rooms are very bare bones. One hand towel. One wash cloth. Limited power outlets for recharging cellular. No instructions book . No extra blankets. But the ocean view is great. Long walk on path to reach the pool/beach. This property seems to have been developed on land leftover by Westin Hotel next door. The hotel has doors to adjoining rooms that are paper thin. The guests next door are having a SenataSanta party with yelling and music from many guests starting at 12:30 am. Not the quiet place we assumed.

Very pleasant peaceful ambiance. Friendly, helpful staff. Several pools with room for children and separate area for adults if wanted. Varied activities. Comfortable beds. Safe tap water to drink all over the city. Not fancy but very pleasant. Everything kept very clean. Staff stay masked. Clients by their own choice. Doctor on site 24/7. Also Covid testing personnel with rapid (1-3 day) results to prepare for departures. Good snack bar at the pool. Healthy and well prepared. The buffet breakfast/ brunch at the restaurant is varied and tasty. Small but warm swim area at the beach. Family friendly. Polite vendors stay below the wall on the beach. Good merchandise. Taxis or bus available in front of the lobby. Marina an easy 5 min walk. Many many restaurants, pharmacies, beauty and massage salons. Thurs nights vendor's market all around the marina. Good artisan handicrafts and foods for sale. Very pleasant place to vacation.

The Grand Mayan was where we stayed and it was great with good service for the 1 week we were there. The service was great, the food was great, and we loved that it was so big you could go somewhere different everyday to explore and eat. They have a shuttle service that takes you places that was very nice as well. One more thing is they have a place called "La Plaza" where you can go buy groceries and drinks to take back to your room which is nice so you don't have to keep buying drinks at the bar every time. Now on to the not so great part. The first day we got there they ask if we want to meet with one of their sales reps to get a free breakfast and just listen to a 45-1 hour pitch about some packages. So we decided sure why not. Well the sales rep will eat breakfast with you which isn't a problem and then they take you up to the top of the hotel with a great view and then starts the sales pitch on trying to buy vacation packages with them for the future. At this time we didn't want to do anything to extensive but we did end up buying a lower tier package. With this package they said that they would give us 2 FREE cruises and 2 FREE flights to come back to Vidanta. Perfect! sounds great, Well later we found out that their were ACTIVATION FEES for every single one. The activation fee was $749 for a high tier cruise or $549 for a lower tier like carnival or royal Caribbean. If any of you have been on a cruise, that's more than what the 7 day cruise cost. I was very disappointed in this part and honestly ruined if for me because they were not truthful and could have told me that from the beginning. So the first day we were on vacation there we spent prob 3 hours with them and hadn't even stuck a foot in the pool yet.

Best because of the location and if want a small resort experience. The amenities are limited. The restaurant on site was good. The rooms really need to be renovated. Old, bit smelly, humid, AC does not work well.

I found a place that I enjoyed all to myself, yet it is very family oriented, quick trip oriented, wedding destination and honeymoon spot. Lots of activities, restaurants, shops, and more. I enjoyed the quality and care that the staff gave; very friendly and inviting.

VITAL -- I read the good reviews so went here to discuss booking hotel rooms for a travel group I organize. This is part of a huge luxury complex, and at least at this particular location (Mayan Palace) I would have been required to buy a membership to stay there or purchase a timeshare -- they would not let me just book hotel rooms. (And they wouldn't let me even look at rooms unless I sat through a 60-minute timeshare presentation -- I graciously declined). Crazy serious (and friendly) security just to get into the property. I didn't want to give them a bad rating (since I never actually stayed.). FYI

I reserved a King size bed. When I checked in they didn’t check my reservation and tried to give my 2 double beds. I refused. Called my agent, they spoke with them. I went back to the checkin desk. They were very awkward, said my room is available and put me in a room with a mediocre view and double beds. Worst service I’ve ever experienced and lying to my face. This is not a high end hotel, 3 stars at best. But less than 1 star for service. I joined the membership, $$$. Still, bad service. Grudges against patrons maybe?

I just spent a week here as a solo traveler and I would suggest the name Mayan Prison. The place got off to a very rocky start with me as I arrived very early at 1130am and was not given access to my room until almost 6 PM. I am not sure if this was a housekeeping issue or logistics issue or some weird process they have as the room I was finally given seemed like it had been open all day. PROS - great daily housekeeping service. They are on it! - nice towels - helpful bell team - great cozy bed - decent balcony (but they placed the railing at a weird height so can't see everything when you sit!) - easy walk to Marina restaurants and shops - wristband makes it easy to enter your room and worked flawlessly CONS - only one way of getting to your guest room or to the pool or beach or into the building. Big pet peeve. - the staff does a creepy hand-on-my-heart gesture when you walk by. It happens super randomly but made me uncomfortable - no guests allowed or more work than it's worth - adjoining door I had made my neighbors LOUD. I think this checked in and out 4 times during my stay and every time was noisy - Friday was super loud even above neighbors dragging furniture - beach area is not well kept and not great service. Often did not see anyone for two hours. They also lack chairs and instead have a strange never used volleyball court. 30 more chairs would be way better. - I had a standard room and only 2 outlets in this room. I had to unplug the TV to make coffee - I understand this is Mexico but no smart TVs and only about 4 channels in English - they have a pool with a swim up bar, but the water was freezing here in January. Can't enjoy a cold beer if the pool is even colder. - the staff is definitely tip focused and I watched several times them chasing people down to sign tip checks including myself and when I was only using the restroom. - Slow internet. Oddly works the fastest on the beach - I was looking forward to evening cocktails at the Sunset bar but very strange layout. No staff and zero bar chairs. They also have weird shallow couches that can't relax into, and outlet plugs that don't work. I used my guest room balcony instead Overall the place needs a-lot of TLC. It has some charms to it but overall I found it very hard to relax. I am not their target market, but this place lacks essentials for me.

We are members and we're told that our room and every room had its own pool adjoined. The model we were shown had a pool. Our first time here finally after spending over 20grand, we have no pool. We have 6 days left and I'm not saying it isn't nice, but we absolutely were sold on the fact we had a pool adjoined to our room. Very disappointed. IT MOST DEFINITELY was a selling point. We also have no communication with our agent and were told she is very hands on and could contact her any time. Meh!!

We visit the Mayan almost every year, and I must say we have never been disappointed. The poolside drinks and food is top tier for hotel food, and the staff is always friendly and accommodating. The pool/beach joy-squad is always a blast too, Agustin, Stephanie, yoceline, Maria, and Pablo are some of the nicest people I have met! Overall another great experience here at the Mayan palace.

Visit with confidence. Love our week here. Lots of things to do within walking distance. Taxis are cheap to venture out. Resort has great restaurants, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stay at the Mayan Palace Marina once or twice a year and we've been coming to this resort for around 25 years. We totally love it, and yes we avoid the timeshare presentations. Took us a while to figure that one out. But everything else about the resort is perfect for my wife and I. People complain about the room decor being dated? Who cares! The beds are comfortable, the shower is great and how much time do we need to spend in the room anyway?

Many things are great. It is expensive so some people will like and others not. It is set up so you stay here and not go into town as much. The front entrance takes 6 minutes or so driving. Then you turn in your car for valet parking and leave a tip. Then wait 5-10 minutes for the shuttle golf cart to your hotel. Check in yesterday took about 90 minutes as they try to convince you to go to sales presentation. Then troubles with the room door for maybe another 40 minutes. Sales presentation they said was 30 minutes. After 90 minutes I said ok and another 40 minutes. Will the membership be worthwhile? That will be the question. If yes it could be pretty great. We will see.

Great location near the Marina. Wonderful staff. The breakfast was excellent too. Things that need to improve: WiFi internet speed was excruciating slow at 2 MBPS for the basic free one. No desk or table. Outdated TV. Noise coming around the main door openings to the room. Room gratuity needs to be organized between the cleaning staff. Finally overcharging for unasked items such as charities etc. Must stop!

Worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Bad service rude front desk. Felt like going into a car dealership they try to sell you all these tours and after you say no they get up a leave abruptly without saying thank you for your time and a handshake. After I did not buy them I went to check in. Got to my room it it was 2 double beds when it was to be a king size bed. Went down to ask why did I get 2 twin beds they said they did not have any available when I had confirmed 4 days prior. But they said for a extra fee or I signed up for a time share meeting I could get the king size bed.or pay a extra charge.wil never come back.honestly stay away

Very fun experience. The number of guests was enough that it was fun but intimate in early May. I stayed and used the pools, enjoyed delicious hand-thrown pizza, good strong cocktails, and a fun Karaoke night. The Karaoke was done by Agustin, Maria, Stephanie, and Jocelin. The microphone system was good and I didn't have to sing hard for my voice to be heard. It was great fun! After the first night, because there were so many friendly people, I had friends to talk to around the hotel.

Always pushing timeshare, poor service in restaurants. Took 40 minutes before anyone even brought a menu, we had to get our own water. Food wasn't good.

I think some people are unfairly rating the marina location instead of Nuevo Vallarta. All the bad things they say about Nuevo, I agree with. But this place was one of my favorite Vidanta locations I have ever stayed at. The sales people try to get you to go to Nuevo to upsell you, but once you make it clear you aren't going you get a week in paradise. The joy squad makes beach volleyball a blast, the beach is small but clean and beautiful, the location is perfect, the little shop is well stocked, the staff is friendly, and the pools are great. Also, shout out to the wait staff who trudge up and down to the beach cabanas serving great fish tacos and drinks all day. I will be back.

Room didn’t have much to it. However, we spent little time in our room. Our AC broke & they promptly came to repair it. The walk to the pool & beach was long but pretty… lots of walking here. There were always activities going on. I really enjoyed my stay. The bad side & the reason for not 5 stars is the sales pitch is overbearing

Gave only 4 stars because they really need to have a warmer pool. The pool was so cold we had goose bumps and sadly it wasn't enjoyable. Beach and ocean access was great. Several staff we amazing, like Elizabeth at the Sunset bar and David the waiter/server were friendly and helpful!

A Diamond out side of downtown. The staff are so friendly, the amenities are more than expected for the price. The Uber or Taxi cost is cheap. I recommend Taxi. Uber can take a long time. Highly recommend this resort!!

Smaller facility, easy acces to Puerto Vallarta. Be aware the adult pool above the others allows smoking, nothing worse than being downwind of that. Washers and dryers do not work well.

Came to see resort because of the scam artists at the airport. They were very friendly until it was clear we weren't buying. Then they gave us invalid passes to Marietas island for Monday. Its not open Monday. I am way too trusting but won't ever fall for this scam again. Sad that this is how they get people to view their resort. Would NEVER buy into their resort.

Friendly and attentive staff. Five star accommodations. Pool bar has fantastic food and service. We ordered pizza from room service and it was delicious! The gift shops and dining — all top notch.

Took the family on a little spring break getaway to our usual spot (Mayan Palace). As always, great weather plus fantastic time with the Vidanta Joy Squad! Nadia, Maria, Irma, Agostin, Marco. The team was super friendly and always involved everyone. The kids played beach volleyball, pool volleyball, Karaoke (that was a blast) and bocce ball on the beach.

  • 5/5 Marvin S. 2 years ago on Google
We had a great time around the pool and the joy club was amazing Nadia and Maria were awesome we played Mexican bingo, regular bingo, and cornhole with beanbags. They play great music and make the whole vacation a lot of fun! They really are an awesome team!

Everything is average. The rooms are average, the food is average, and the service is average, with the exception of the bell staff they were better than average. The hotel needs to be updated, especially the bathrooms.

  • 4/5 Oai T. 2 years ago on Google
The lobby, pool area, restaurants and service here is very good. Located just a short walk to the Marina, it is a very chill place, and very very quiet at night. The rooms however are very basic, with the worst I have ever seen in terms of available electric outlets; basically there are no outlets so you have to decide if you want the lamp and clock or if you want to charge your phones. I had to go buy a power bar the first night. Other than the power outlets and the 20 minutes it took to exchange money at the front desk, everything else is good.
