Hola Amigos. I lived for one year on the fourth floor of this great hotel for an entire year. Two bedroom, two bath unit. Hotel Santa Maria for the long term quest is absolutely the best Hotel to stay at because: location next to Mega Grocery Store, Fed Ex, best gym in Vallarta.(has a lap pool, yoga classes, great equipment, air conditioned for $50 a month). The hotel is near the library Las Mangos which is a social and exercise center featuring yoga, Tai Chi, movie club etc. Hotel Plaza Santa Maria is on the bus line so no need for a car. Forty minutes from airport. Fruit Breakfast every day is available in the hotels elegant lobby for 50 to 70 pesos. Other long term Plaza Santa Maria quests are interesting and easy to get to know. If you want the other long term guests will help you join all the meet up interest groups in Vallarta. I have never had the pleasure of having my sheets and towels changed and my living unit cleaned weekly. Absolutely no need to clean up after yourself. Lazy living at its best. A pay to have them do you laundry is close by and is so cheap it was idiotic to do my laundry when for $5 to 6 dollar all my dirty clothes were cleaned, ironed and put on hangers. Many restaurants of all price ranges within two to ten minute walk. Safe. Finally, the staff is very helpful in helping you with odd ball and normal questions. Staff for the most part speak English well. Learn Spanish schools are within walking distance too. I have never lived with so many nice people in such close proximity as here. You will love it. It took me about 6 months to appreciate how easy living can be. I have no financial interest in Hotel Santa Maria. It is just that nice of a place to live I wanted to write them to pay back for all the favors the staff did for me. This is the best "only local would know"advice I can give you. Bottom line the hotel is in the easiest place to live zone but only fifteen minutes from the popular and often obnoxious Malicon zone.

Very central located in the hotel zone. Very quiet if you get a room that faces the courtyard and pool. Mega Store is right next door. The complex is on the older side but is kept very clean. The beach is a 5 minute walk away.

Dirty and neglected place without minimal details for a comfortable stay, without internet, without filter for the coffee maker, without soap for dishes, useless air conditioning. For the same money you you can find something much better

We did an ABNB here. It was sufficient for what we required. Beds were VERY hard- I like a hard bed! These were very hard... I would suggest bringing a tenting pad if you want to sleep! Our condo was nice and quiet, however not great if you like to cook for yourself. There was 1 pot and a medium pan. 1 not so sharp knife... so it's a place to sleep. Pool is nice. Lots of different levels- good if you have young children or if you just want to sit in pool. Located pretty much next to a grocery store- the HUGE bonus. I'm not 100% certain that I would come here again... but it did serve a purpose. The price was $90 with all taxes in. So I do think there are better options. But I will have to check them out to find them!!

For me, good price, convenient location, parking for my rental car. The kitchen was nice to have. Was traveling alone. Didn't always want to go out. Plus, I like the food in Vallarta so much, if I over ordered, I could warm it up later.

The place is walking distance to the beach, the malecon, the market and the room had everything to stock drinks in the fridge and a stove to cook as well.

I lived on the fourth floor at Playa Santa Maria when I was a lecturer at British America Trilingual School. Playa Santa Maria was a heavenly place to life. Great vistas of the Mountains on one side of my condo and a great patio deck with a suburb view of the pool. I thoroughly enjoyed the competition with other tenants as to who had the best decorated patio deck. At Christmas time the patio deck competition was really serious. All of us tenants enjoyed decorating against one another. A lot of camaraderie existed between us long-term tenants. I learned how to speak some French, for example Passe une bonne journée means "have a good Day not Journey" you silly American. Have a good journey mon ami is "Bon voyage" means have a good journey."
