I almost didn’t come here because the reviews are all over the place. I got a tasting menu but had to remind the staff there I had prepaid for the tasting menu. Other than that the food was outstanding. Service was pretty good aside from the mishap. Full of flavor, seasoned perfectly, cooked well and paired well with each wine. Deff get the tasting menu & splurge and get the wine pairings. Also sit in the garden it is absolutely gorgeous. The 1-3 star reviews are dramatic this place is great.

This is the BEST restaurant experience I have ever had. The service was exceptional, the food was beyond delicious and the portions were perfect. The restaurant itself is a piece of art with multiple individual and symbiotic pieces of art all over the restaurant. We were a party of 6 and we did a wine pairing 5-course meal. there were two choices per course, and each couple ordered one of each so we could taste everything offered. I especially loved how special we all were made to feel. It was my husband’s 60th birthday and they made him feel celebrated in a way that we was blushing and laughing (he’s a humble guy). We toured the restaurant, and know if we come back, we will be booking a table in the rooftop (enclosed) garden, that looks like a lush hidden jungle. The musicians entertained us with a violin /piano mini-concerto of the Game of Thrones theme and a “Texas-themed fiddle” song. Such a perfect way to spend an evening with friends and loved ones. Highly recommend Cafe des Artistes!

I’m giving this place five stars with an asterisk. I fully enjoyed our meal; the location is beautiful and serene, the violinist going around is a virtuoso, the food was good, made to perfection, and the service superb. The asterisk is that I felt the food was pretty basic. I’d didn’t have a specific cuisine, or any imaginative twist. With so much great things going for it, I think an exciting menu would have made Cafe des Artistes on a whole different level. I still recommend going there for a great meal.

The restaurant is set in art district and blends well with it's artistic lounge with live piano and other modern artwork. Outside ambiance is vibrant and outstandingly appeasing for nature lover as it feels like eating in a jungle. Service is very nice with polite waiters who explain your food and can suggest what to eat. We had couple of drinks which were pretty good. For food we had their famous pumpkin soup which tasted good. We had ordered two fishes one was halibut filet and other was red snapper. The fish specially halibut was very dry and tasteless which took whole thunder from them as the main course was the heart of this whole experience

The experience is a delight. The atmosphere is certainly something special, and the service was handled well. The food, though it was beautiful, left me wanting more. More flavor, more depth, more richness. The tasting is a delight to behold but falls flat in flavor. With two pork belly dishes, both had a taste of water. I will say the ice cream with pepper left my palate exited and did not disappoint. Overall, I would recommend the experience as a whole.

We had an amazing dinner at Café des Artistes. The food is delicious. Cocktails are amazing and the garden outside is something really special. We do have some suggestions to make the dining experience perfect: 1. It may be better for one person to take orders and serve a table. I think we had our oders taken and delivered by 4-5 different people. This takes away from the experience. 2. There is a lot of movement around tables throughout the night. Last night was specially busy so that's understandable but at some points, there were 5 servers gathered around close to our table as they were waiting on tables and sorting through orders. This also takes away from the guests enjoying a relaxing meal. This place is real special and we will definitely come back!

This was a super cool place, the atmosphere was top notch with live violin and piano. The food was good, but not that unique, same with the cocktails, they were all good but I was hoping for more creativity in the food/drinks. Still the place is amazing and worth a visit.

Absolutely magical. From a foodie and high end catering company owner - I can say this experience was unmatched. I’m beyond impressed. Carlos/Jorge were amazing as a server team. We have the chefs dinner with pairings. Worth every penny. There’s nothing like this around. It’s incredible.

My wife and I stopped in to get some dessert on our anniversary. We didn't expect much but they made our stop very special. They brought us our dessert very nicely decorated (including a hand-made candy heart). They let us walk through to see the beautiful setting they have and there was even live piano/violin that played beautifully. They convinced me I definitely have to come back.

My partner and I came here for date night, it was a spot my partner used to come to have family dinners so it held a lot of fond memories and I can see why! Our servers were Jorge and Giovanni and they took such great care of us, we wanted for nothing! The food was delicious, it's not over priced for the level of service and quality. We had regular table touches, wine was replenished and we had some lovely additional taster items brought to the table in-between meals! A must visit if you are in Puerto Vallarta

I have been dining here for 19 years, and it never fails to amaze, delight, and just plain wow me every time. When you step into the art filled lobby and wait for your table by the piano bar, you get the feeling that it's going to be a magical evening, and it never disappoints. The waitstaff are meticulous in their attention to detail, the menu is seasonal and fresh, and each dish had been well thought out. Beef cheek tacos and tartare were beautiful starters, the sea bass was sublime, as was the pork belly. The pulpo was so perfectly cooked it was amazing, and since it was a special birthday we had an assortment of desserts delivered as a beautiful presentation with a sparkler candle for dramatic effect. Highly recommend.

The dinner here was the highlight of our trip to PV. We are foodies who live in a food rich area, but this was a phenomenal. The tasting menu with the wine pairing was worth every bit. The service couldn't be beat. The atmosphere was perfect. This restaurant should not be missed.

Service is awesome. There is a great atmosphere if you choose to seat the the garden. Lots of vegetation and live violin music. Just be sure to take mosquito repellent or ask for one with the waiter. The tuna as an appetizer is a must.

Soooo Goood and beautiful setting. One of the best restaurants in PV. High quality, everything was delicious, from the cocktails to the food. Definitely on the pricier side to other places in the city BUT worth every penny.

Probably the best fancy restaurant in Puerto Vallarta, with its French roots it serves an excellent merge of tastes with Mexican cuisine, all plates are of a high quality and the cava offers a very wide sort of wines. The waiters are well trained and are able to make good explanations and recommendations fore everyone.

One of the best places to dine in PV. I would recommend it to a friend and would come back. Make sure to make a reservation as soon as you can as it fills up very quickly. Their prices are more in alignment with the US but they are worth it. The service is phenomenal, food and drinks are even better. They have live music and are located on a very artistic side of PV.

We went here to celebrate our friends 60th birthday and it is one of the most beautiful restaurants we have been to. The service is amazing, and the food does not disappoint. They opened the garden 1st time tonight, and it was so beautiful we had the middle table, and we were the center of attention. We will come back again. Thank you for making our dinner a migcial experience.

Alexis and Paco were our waiters. They were a great team who really made us feel welcome. We had the Thanksgiving dinner tasting menu. The highlights were definitely the turkey ballotine and the beets, watermelon & peas ceviche.

Wow, what a special place. This restaurant is absolutely stunning, especially if seated outdoor or indoors to the back of the patio. Service was fantastic. They had a violinist playing which made it even more special. We opted for the prix fix and everything was super flavorful and wonderful. I am pescatarian and the chef graciously replaced shrimp for one of the meat dishes. The price is great for the quality as well! My only regret is we didn’t walk around the neighborhood prior to our reservation, super cute art galleries everywhere!

We have been to PV many times and just finally tried this place out. It was our anniversary and the restaurant made it a really special night. The ambience sitting outdoors was incredible. And every dish we had was better than the last. Even the bread basket was top notch. Highly recommend!

Really good food but we ordered the short rib medium rare and got it almost well done so the texture and flavour wasn't what we expected. Everything else was really tasty and the presentation was always awesome, I'm sure you can have a good time here but I'm not sure if I would go back as there's other places in PV with good food for better prices, cocktails are good but nothing too special imo. I would really reccomend to go once, so you can try it yourself! The decorations are awesome and the staff was nice and attentive.

Service is exceptional, unique atmosphere, and an impressive dining experience. The foie gras sweetened with gelato and ceviche served on a block of pink salt was notably good. Highly recommend the octopus, pork, and sea bass. Drinks and wine selection were also delicious. One of the best dining experiences in Puerto Vallarta, don’t miss it.

  • 4/5 Lynn N. 3 months ago on Google • 4 reviews New
The dining experience was mediocre. I opted for the octopus, while my boyfriend chose the steak, both requested medium rare. However, the server insisted all steaks were prepared uniformly, resulting in a tough, well-done steak. On the upside, the octopus was enjoyable, service was excellent, and the garden atmosphere was beautiful.

This is my second time to this gorgeous restaurant and it did not disappoint. Recently renovated, the inside look of the place far exceeds what it used to look like. We sat next to this beautiful window, with the garden and fountain outside. It was my boyfriend's 40th birthday and they did an AMAZING job of celebrating him from the moment we sat down and the host put confetti on the table. Love this touch. We had Leonel and Luis for our servers and both of them were outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgable. They also had a musician playing who played Suman a birthday song. We both got the tasting menu and I got the wine pairing as well. Here's the run down. 1) Amuse bouche with raw tuna - the sauce was outstanding, the tuna - I've had better but it was OK. 2) Tomato fantasy au chintextle pepper - DELICIOUS. A+ Several types of tomatoes in a delicious sauce. This was actually my favorite dish because it was just so unexpectedly good. 3) Morels with fresh truffle ravioli - A+ again! 4) Roasted Sea Bass with beurre blanc and chipotle - Hitting it out of the park at this point!! 5) Roasted pork belly with citrus, spices, and brussel sprouts - Another 5 stars. 6) Foie gras creme brulee - Yup, they're on a roll here. 7) Habanero chilli with passion fruit mousse - Nailed it. Could have been a smidge more with the chilli but delicous. And the best thing I have ever SEEN for a birthday dessert was this incredible dessert plate they brought Suman with a gift made out of sugar. WOW. WOW. WOW. The wine pairings were also impeccable. One thing I do wish for restaurants everywhere - I wish they asked up front which wines you don't like...because I would tell every restaurant that I don't like any dessert wine, ever. It typically doesn't much matter because at this point, as around this time I'm typically hitting my limit...so there's that. I think cuisine in Puerto Vallarta doesn't get the RESPECT it deserves in haute cuisine. I waited 20 years to eat at Le Bernardin in NYC with its MIchelin stars and was wholly unimpressed both by the food but ESPECIALLY the terrible service. Here is one of my favorite meals of all time, but folks don't typically think of this place for high cuisine. Simply put, that's a mistake. BIG mistake. 5 BIG STARS. YES, CHEF. YES.

We had a wonderful anniversary prix-fixe dinner at Cafe des Artistes. We felt like celebrities with the help of Alexis and Daniel, who catered to our every need. The food was next level and our cocktails were delicious. I would recommend coming here for any reason you'd like to treat yourself!

This is a place that everyone recommends checking out in Puerto Vallarta for their exquisite food. Well I’ll give you two more reasons: their two artists Enrique (piano) and Moses who lay live music and songs on demand. They covered everything from Edith Piaf, to the Blue Danube Waltz, to Guns and roses!! Cocktails out if this world and their garden heavenly. A true artist corner!

You can see why this is one of the best restaurants in PV. Well worth a visit esp if its a special occasion. They really make an effort. The restaurant itself is stunning. Tables are spread out amongst the trees with ample space between the tables and on different levels. They had a live piano and violinist which really set the tone for the entire night and you could see everyone really enjoyed it. Food was very tasty and fresh. I had roasted seabass which was incredibly fresh. My partner had the prawns which were meaty and nicely marinated. The bread (like a brioche filled with cream cheese) came with 2 types of homemade butter was so so good. The type of bread where you fill up and can't eat your actual meal. This restaurant certainly knows their stuff and how to entertain on top of that and make that special occasion for you. Will certainly be back (if that wasn't obvious from this review :))

Our second visit. This time we opted for the dinner menu over the Chef's menu (which we loved last trip). Luiz and Giovanni were fantastic with their service and attention to even the smallest details. For example, recognizing that I'm left-handed and resetting my tableware accordingly at each course. We skipped dessert this trip, only because we were so satisfied with dinner. The mocktail selection was really well thought out as well. Some sweet, some spicy, and some frozen options. This is a beautiful restaurant and I highly recommend you dress accordingly.

Beautiful newly done restaurant! The garden is stunning. Although a busy place, it’s not loud at all. We had an amazing dinner. My husband got the muscles and I tried the cheese on the hot stone. Both were amazing. I had the sea bass and he had the other version with the skin on. The food was spot on and we enjoyed our evening! Highly recommended!!! Definitely sit in the garden if possible!

We went for dinner to celebrate my mom’s bday and it was an exquisite experience. The food was OMG, instead of the choosing their tasting menu we picked several dishes and everything was delicious! The garden is beautiful and we had a gentleman play the harp at our table, it’s a must!

  • 5/5 Yasamin R. 1 year ago on Google
I have been to lots of restaurants offering fine dining, and the experience at Cafe des artist was next level. The atmosphere, the food and more importantly the service were all top notch. Bonus was the live music coming to each table to see if there is a request for a specific song and also the natural trees in the dining area. It was definitely a place to go for very special celebrations.

  • 5/5 Hajar E. 1 year ago on Google
Mexican x French fusion at its best. Dinning in their garden was truly a magical experience. Food presentation, service and taste was impeccable. The chocolate mousse dessert that comes in a flower pot was an absolute delight. Only downside is that there is a very strong flower scent. We thought it was artificial as it comes in waves. But we did get used to it after a while.

This is our second time here and the service and the dishes are consistently excellent. Staff are professional and courteous. Live music fits perfectly with the ambiance. Their seasonal special Chiles en Nogada was a wonderful experience. PS: our waiter that day was Luis. He was helpful and excellent.

  • 5/5 Daniela M. 2 years ago on Google
The best restaurant in Puerto Vallarta without a doubt. We had a beautiful elder menu with wine pairings. Kudos to the sommelier for the perfect marriage between food and wine. And kudos to chef Thierry for the most delicious menu ever. We love the authenticity of the menu, with the fresh ingredients that mix French cuisine and techniques with Mexican dishes and ingredients. Our waiter, Giovanni, was the most knowledgeable and polite. Thanks for a beautiful service mate!

I’ll join the chorus. What an amazing culinary experience. Everything you ever want from a fine dining establishment and more. Splurge and get the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Just extraordinary. If you’re ever in the PV area and can afford a nice night out. Go for it.

  • 5/5 Emily C. 2 years ago on Google
Incredible ambience on the patio. You are surrounded by fountains and trees with live music. During my dinner, the live music was a talented harp player. This wasn’t my favorite dinner in PV but it was still delicious and lovely (I think I was just so spoiled with a lucky find the night before). I ordered the pumpkin soup for appetizer and sea bass as an entree. Both were delicious and the plating was immaculate. They serve the pumpkin soup right out of a pumpkin!

Magical garden! Incredible experience with the staff the food and the alcohol. So many special touches for our anniversary. A must in Puerto Escondido. Try the tasting menu !!! So worth it.
