Thank you for reading the Honest Reviews4U! This Zoo is amazing 🤩 is very big, clean organized and staff is very friendly with great customer service. I took about 2 or 2 1/2 hours to calming walk around and took lots of personal photos/videos until my phone died (it was fully charged). It houses a variety of animals across the world many which are consider extremely rare and close to extinction. Also on the path you will encounter a variety of different birds and insects many which I personally never seen before. The zoo has 2 fees a general and a special fee. The special entrance allows you to feed the animals as you walk thru the zoo park and at the end be able to actually pet rare animals and obtain a gift of your choice its Totally worth it!!👌 The general admission is about ~$12 USD dollars and special is $90 USD per person. I recommend the special admission. The Zoo has free public bathrooms however no toilet paper is available you do have to purchase your own roll, 1 roll for $0.50 but before you say anything once you walk thru the zoo it will totally make sense. These animals are very very well taken care of and very well feed. In fact they are better looking and feed than many of the USA Zoo animals that i have visited. Take your time and come during the weekdays early morning and hear the Loin roar or Tiger purr loudly as well as many other animals. I High Recommend this place!!👍🏼

This is hands down are favorite zoo and we try going every year. Be sure to stock up on the animal food bags you can purchase at the gate so you can hand feed the animals. Don’t worry if you run out, the small shop along the path also sells them. The animal encounter for the additional fee is a must, you get to hold and cuddle baby animals and it’s a great way to end an amazing trip

Great little Zoo! LOTS of Big Cats, Lions, Tigers, Leppards, Jaguars really nicely built into the hills. NOT good for Wheelchairs or Mobility Challenged visitors. Hills are steep up and steep downs without rails just a stone wall of heights varying between say 40" to 60". Buy the Feed bags if your with children or even for you. The Animals appreciate the Snack. Great visit!

This was one of the saddest places I’ve ever been. The pens for the animals were so dirty and small it was crazy. My heart was broken for every animal there. I would NOT recommend this place at all. The hippo was laying in the filthiest water in such a small pen. When the hippo got out of the water it was the most awful smell ever. I’ve been to other zoo’s in the world with hippos and they swam in beautiful clean water and had large areas to roam. So sad.

Very, very sad. All the animals were in small concrete cages; hardly any greenery, small amounts of such dirty water you can’t even see a reflection, no food in any pens and many animals had open, untreated wounds. All animals seemed skinny and just not taken care of in the least. It was also pretty expensive for a zoo, $10 per person entry fee and then $10 for a small bag of food to be able to give animals.

These tigers are horribly treated. All of them were caged together in a bedroom size cage. No space, completely dirty area, and did not see Any grass. I hope a group and I can do something about this matter.

We took our grandkids to the zoo and had a nice visit. Don't go expecting Brookfield Zoo or San Diego Zoo. It's a small zoo and struggling. The animal enclosures are clean and the signage is good. Turns out many of the animals are rescues from circuses or unfortunate circumstances. We bought food packets that were well labeled as to which animal could have which treats. Our grandkids had a lot of fun feeding the critters. Solid Covid protocols are in place to protect the animals (and workers!). We did not do the other animal encounters that are an extra fee. Well worth a visit.

Best zoo ever! I love the opportunity to get face to face with the animals and feed them. The foods are provided by the zoo and won't disrupt their diet balance. The white tiger at the very beginning of the tour is super friendly and playful with the carrots you give it. And I love the kinkajou that sits at the front waiting for your pettings. Being able to hold the lion and jaguar cubs is also very lovely, and the staff will help you with pictures. Recommend!

This is a very interactive zoo! At the front desk you can buy a food bag for $5 which includes some carrots, peanuts, corn and grain for all the animals. We were the only people in the entire zoo when we went. If you’re driving here, be aware that the entrance is at the end of a dirt road. They do take card at the entrance! However for ease you can purchase your tickets ($12 USD per person) online ahead of time where you will receive a PayPal confirmation code. The architecture here is a little bit run down as you will see walking around. But you are able and encouraged to pet and interact with most of the animals here. Overall it took us about 1-2 hours to walk the entire zoo while stopping at each exhibit. Don’t forget to get a paleta from the gift shop at the end of your visit!

It was an amazing experience! However, like many before said, the living conditions for many of the animals are terrible. With facemasks, the smell wasn't horrible, but that's all depending on your olfactory tolerance. Out of the countless zoos we have been to, this one by far had the most active feline life we have ever seen. Not just the tiger, panther, or loin cubs, but in each of the adult pens. Although their pens were small, almost every cat was active and visible. I've never been so close to an adult lion in my life. Obviously much of all of the animal activity is due to us being able to feed them, but we had no food for the cats so that was odd. As many others have said, if you are active on animal rights, THIS PLACE ISN'T FOR YOU! I was on the thought process that it's already occurring, at least I can go see and possibly go provide some financial support. It was worth it.

First of all they charge for toilet paper. Second, we were bit by bugs all day, and lastly- the animals look so sad- barely any water for the poor hippo, even the tigers didn't have much water and if they did it was very dirty and almost nothing. We waited while another group held all the animals which took quite a long time, as we went for our turn we were cut in line by a group of 2. The guy working wouldn't let us in even after we told him we had been waiting the whole time the previous group went. All in all it was just for the experience but I wouldn't go again. Give those sad looking animals some food and water atleast. They don't have any room to run either. I edited my review to add photos of my bug bites when they were fresh and now a week later..

This zoo is interactive. There are bags of feed available with instructions on the bag as to who gets what items from your bag. The animals all know you will feed them and are friendly and come up to the fences. There are no workers around inside the zoo. No seats on the toilets, or running water in the bathrooms, or toilet paper. Jungle chickens laid eggs in the bathroom. There is a Mexican hairless dog on exhibit and he is alone in his enclosure. Dogs are social buddies and this broke my heart.

Although this was a great experience for us to be able to get up close and personal with animals, we left feeling super sad for the poor animals that were left in deplorable conditions. The water was horribly green, murky, and smelled of sewage. We felt bad for the animals that we bought plenty of food for them to eat. Coming from my hometown in San Diego, ca., maybe our expectations were set higher for proper maintenance and care of these beautiful creatures.

This is a very cool activity to do with your family! Very interactive zoo where you’re encouraged to feed the animals and can get very close to some incredible animals too. Our toddler loved it! * they will offer you bug spray and I highly recommend you get it.

Underrated and totally worth a visit, animal snack bags sold in entry, buy a couple extra as you're gonna love treating the animals across the zoo. It's larger than I thought it'd be after having read some reviews and loved the single track layout that made it a journey of exploration. So many of the animals are closer than you'll see them in many zoos and the place is both clean - I surprisingly didn't have an issue with biting bugs - and very affordable. The upgrade to the animal encounter is steep price difference but in line with other zoos and you may want to decide at the end - in many respects this is a great zoo and deserves the support. So much potential for longer term investment and some exhibit upgrades, but it's authentic right now and a great half day out. Note if you find it hard to walk, some parts of the zoo get pretty steep.

Dirty small cages. Some with no water or very dirty water. Some with barely any room to live comfortably. Lots with single animals living alone with no companions. Very sad conditions. The zoo itself is falling apart. The cleanest part was the entrance store. They charge you $100 USD to spend time with their cubs or baby animals. With all this money you could update the zoo. But they don’t. I also heard when the babies get older they they sell them to hunters (not sure if this is true but I’d imagine they sell them somewhere). My mom left crying after seeing the bear with its broken teeth panting heavily. This is not a place you want to visit. I’m embarrassed I took my children and I would never recommend it.

The zoo must be closed! The conditions are dramatic. Please! Please do not visit the zoo! I will do everything I can to involve the authorities! There is excrement everywhere, the animals are not cared for and the living conditions are indescribably bad.

An absolutely once in a lifetime experience! We got to pet a baby Lion, Tiger, Lemur and Boa. The animals were well loved and clean and beautiful! Their keeper was very nice and accommodating. We also got to feed dozens and dozens of different species of animals throughout the park. Highly recommend!!!

These animals need to be rescued. They are neglected, some appear to starving. Monkeys and giraffe alone. Water is filthy. Ponies spine showing Manes matted, hooves need trimming. Shameful. Filthy. White tiger cubs in cement enclosure with several broken panes of glass taped with duct tape. There was a black panther pacing the was skin and bones.

What an amazing zoo experience! This was probably the best zoo we have ever visited. The kids got to feed most of the animals, got up close and personal with the cool giraffe and flamingos, and enjoyed the whole morning. Tons to see! Highly recommend 👌

Wow. This zoo is like nothing we have in the states. You're encouraged the feed the animals with the food you can purchase (50 pesos) and it adds to the experience. There are fun animals I had never seen in person, and it's like walking through a jungle as you go through. I did feel sorry for the poor animals, especially the big cats, but I always feel that in zoos. Sigh... Anyway, please note that if you need to use the bathroom, you have to buy a roll of toilet paper (I guess idiots would steal paper from the bathrooms and it would end up in with animals. Apparently, this solved that problem) So I would just bring some with you so you don't have to carry a roll around like I did.

WOW!!! What a great experience, I’m so glad I ignored the negative reviews and came to see for myself, even the older kids really had fun. Took about 1.5 hours total to make the rounds, came on a Friday morning in March. No crowds, lots of shade. Plenty of interaction with the residents that we wouldn’t see anywhere in the USA. The trail is paved cobblestone and can get somewhat steep so where your shoes and BRING BUG SPRAY! The gentleman at the front counter greeted us kindly and explained our options. As cool as it seemed we opted NOT to spend all the money to hold the tiger cubs.

We went first thing around 9am for open. We had the park to ourselves for a while and beat the heat for a bit. I wasn't so sure about the feeding component but it ended up being truly fun. Plus when you're there early the animals haven't been fed so they are all wanting some of your treats. We had two bags of food between 5 adults and 2 kids and it was plenty. Highlights were the giraffe and hippo. The birds are cool though as well. We paid for 1 tiger experience which was a big hit for our nephew.

We got there around 1030am. The weather was just right and we were some of the first ones there. What a great experience. My only regret was not buying extra food for the animals. Great time. I loved the antelopes and giraffe. But to be fair, they all were amazing.

This zoo gives you an incredible up close experience. They allow you to buy food to feed their animals. My kids got to feed a giraffe directly from their hands. They loved it! The animals are so close and visible. The terrain is gorgeous but on an incline so make sure you have good walking shoes. You can even see wild indigenous animals on the trail as you’re walking- just don’t feed those animals or they may become aggressive. You can purchase an expensive experience to hold a wild tiger, we didn’t, but viewed another family doing so. The tiger was not happy to be held and touched so I would not recommend this.

Had a great time here. Interactive with animals, got to feed some. And yes, although it's sad to see animals in an enclosure.. it made me feel better knowing most were rescues. I would recommend supporting this not for profit organization.

I visited the zoo. Then I read reviews here "best zoo experience", "hands down best zoo". I must've been to a different zoo. Staff please get a water pump and just wash the enclosures with water stream. The conditions must be made better for animals. I understand the funding may be limited to replace two-layered metal mesh with contemporary design. But please clean the cages with water and provide clean water to inhabitants.

Fantastic experience. To be up front, the ticket you’re gonna want is $100 USD. It gets you everything… full interactive experience to feed essentially all of the animals. You’ll also get to hold, play with and take pictures of the baby tigers/lions and lemur (who are all very friendly if you follow the rules). You also get a souvenir from the store. Truly a once in a lifetime experience. So glad I did it. Highly recommend. To rebut some of the comments about the cleanliness of the zoo—this is a facility built in the middle of the jungle where it rains multiple times per week. There will be mold, mud and bugs. Bring some bug spray and cold water… if you don’t you can always buy some in the gift shop but it will be a little more expensive. We hope to visit again someday!

Overall it was a decent zoo. It was definitely a bit sad as a lot of the animals were just stuck in an empty cage and looked visibly sad. However, they had a lot of very interesting animals that we haven’t seen elsewhere. There was also a lot of different animals, a lot more than we expected. The guy at the gate recommended bug spray but we opted not too and deeply regretted it. WEAR BUG SPRAY! We still have bites on our legs a month later.

Great Zoo to check out! Zoo needs more visitors to get more funding but absolutely worth the time and money to go there. AND you can hold baby tigers and lemur for a cost ($100/person). Totally worth it, once in a lifetime experience. Half way through zoo walk is sn area to buy snacks and has indoor seating for resting and lunching. Kids ages 1-7 all loved it.

Probably one of the coolest things my wife and I have ever done impromptu in Mexico. Make sure and get some food for the animals and spring for the experience of getting to hold baby lions, tigers, etc. You'll be glad you did. The only drawback is the smell. Make sure and bring hand sanitizer.

While the experience at this Zoo is very unique to any thing I’ve experienced in the US, it was over all pretty horrible what I saw. These animals are held in horrible cages with very little space. Lot of them resembling concrete jail cells. Several of their big cats were horribly malnourished to the point you can see their bones. ALL of the water was very dirty and there wasn’t much of it. I don’t think a single animal I saw looked happy. They were all very sad looking. It was heartbreaking. I understand the laws and standards are different in Mexico but this is just disgusting treatment of animals. I urge you not to spend your money here. It will only support there terrible treatment of these animals.

Key points: - take a taxi all the way to the entrance if you don’t want to walk 15 minutes in a gravel / cobblestone road - there is an oxxo and 2 farmacias on your way up the road to the entrance - bugs weren’t horrible, but spray is advisable if you are sensitive - 2 bags of food for feeding the animals was adequate for 3 adults and 2 small kids - giraffe and monkeys were the most enjoyable feeding experience - watching the leopard eat chickens was mesmerizing This place is similar to a mediocre zoo you would find in a major city. The animals seem well attended to and the kids loved it. It is VERY steep at parts so bring your best walking shoes.

Well worth the cab ride and the money. There are tons and tons of fun animals, many of whom you can feed as a visitor. I recommend getting a couple snack bags for them. It’s a blast! The gentleman working the desk spoke impeccable English. Stop by while you’re in Vallarta! It’s a blast.

This zoo was amazing. Staff eas very friendly. All animals were able to be seen. We arrived when it was raining. Pretty much had the entire zoo to ourselves. Purchase a bag of feeding food for the animals and feed them along the way... If you run out of food there is a halfway point where you can purchase more. Best zoo experience i have ever had ! Even though it was raining. Great experience!

The cages, especially for the animals like the tigers and similar animals that need space, are enclosed in dingy spaces that need major upgrades including water that looked dirty. Many of the animals looked completely unkept. The three of us who went together found the entire experience depressing, especially after visiting the fantastic Guadalajara Zoo.

This is not a typical zoo. It is very simple, yet somehow nice. When you enter you can purchase a bag with food and you are allowed to feed the animals. You definitely have your close encounters. You find out how tall the giraffe truly is, when you hold out a carrot . Tigers just a foot away from you. Enjoy the oder and graul. It was awesome. For a little extra money you can even hold baby Tigers. Monkees, hippos, wild pigs. All there. Again very simple, nice trails and a lot of fun.

The best zoo hands down. Reasonable entry fee, and animal snacks are a must to purchase. At least one per person.

  • 5/5 Tina I. 11 months ago on Google
We had a lovely time there. Buy feed bags (50 pesos), they are so worth it! Zoos are tricky because you never like to see animals locked in a cage but on the other hand, seeing animals close up causes people to care for them and raises public awareness for those in the wild and the fate of the species. The animals here are obviously well cared for, there are signs in Spanish and English telling about the animal and how endangered it is. Being able to feed the animals and be so close to them was awesome! Look for the white plastic feed tube to drop food through the wall instead of through the bars. Wear bug spray there are biting insects. There is plenty of shade through the entire walk. The path is uneven stones with some steepish small hills. Would be ok for a jogging stroller but not ideal for a little folding one. Getting uber there and back was easy. Loved feeding the animals, surprised at how gentle they all were. The giraffe is SO sweet and SO gentle, a toddler can feed him. He takes the carrots with his tongue and lips, no teeth. We had a great time here, spent 2 hours or so. Store there sells drinks and snacks and bug spray. Best way to get close to these beautiful animals.

This is by far one of the best zoo experience I've had in my life. It is integrated, without the forest, which makes it the perfect location for that zoo. Grab some food for the animals, so you can feed them.
