😐 We visited the restaurant in the 2nd week of April. We are not terribly picky eaters and often give the benefit of the doubt. However we experienced pros and cons worth noting. First the cons: calamari was over cooked although tasty. 3 of us order the surf and turf and found the prawns over cooked... People often mention view, good, service, Isabel, restaurant, great, views, experience, Casa, amazing,

We visited the restaurant in the 2nd week of April. We are not terribly picky eaters and often give the benefit of the doubt. However we experienced pros and cons worth noting. First the cons: calamari was over cooked although tasty. 3 of us order the surf and turf and found the prawns over cooked (this results in chewy prawns). We also all agreed the steak was lacking in flavour. It was a first for me to add salt to my food especially the steak. However, the steaks were cooked to our request. The 4th order was the chicken breast and it was chewy (again over cooked) however it was very flavourful. The pros: of course the views are spectacular and offer such a great sunset experience. The service is top notch and we enjoyed our server. They also had music which was lovely. The soup was cream of cauliflower and I can state it was in the top 5 best I’ve had. So very good. The fancy coffee (complete with flames) was top notch and our server gave an incredible show - the restaurant applauded. I am hopeful this review will provide good feedback for the restaurant/chef so they can make improvements as they have the opportunity to be exceptional.

The location is absolutely stunning, although there’s tons of stairs to climb so if you have bad knees or mobility issues this is not the place for you.

We have been to Casa Isabel before and just adored it … In the past, the scenery and food were amazing but this time, we were extremely disappointed in everything that happened. We had a reservation but our reservation table along the front railing was not available despite a confirmation of such Second, a group who came after us were seated along the railing and then another group were moved from the side to the front railing… both groups who came after us and as it turns out had made reservations after us also (we had made a reservation 10 days in advance). We were told reason they got that table was because they bought a drink at the bar. This was just the start of our experience. From there, it went downhill. The bottle of wine we ordered had very clearly turned and was horrible. The meals were cold and the some vegetables such as the asparagus were burnt and extremely tiny (something that never should have been served). Over the course of the evening the wait staff basically ignored us and only responded when flagged down. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend it to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere!

My review is solely related to our dinning experience at the Casa Isabel restaurant. Let me begin by saying that the service was excellent and the view, breathtaking. The food, not so much. We ordered calamari as an appetizer: so disappointing. The calamari was obviously old and freezer burned. Not the chewy plump pieces we normally get at restaurants where we often order this appetizer. We then ordered their signature coconut shrimp plate. Same situation here: dry and obviously freezer burned. An expensive choice and again very disappointing. The other main course item ordered was the ribs. Not a total disappointment but very little meat on the pieces that were served. It was an expensive meal and we felt « ripped off » after our visit. We will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

Wow, wow, wow!!! Had a wonderful first time at Casa Isabel. First off, the views are spectacular and we were lucky enough to take in the sunset! Secondly, the staff is amazingly sweet, attentive, and helpful. Thirdly, food was amazing and beautifully presented. Loved every minute being there, and would love to stay in the hotel! Definitely will be back!!

Casa Isabel is a lovely quaint hotel built into the side of the cliff. We visited for dinner. Take a cab the walk is steep. The views are amazing and we had live music from a one man band. The food was tasty and the drinks choices were solid. A bit touristy but that is to be expected…

Margaritas were made to perfection. Enjoyed our calamari and our supper (Mahi Mahi and coconut shrimp). Watched the dolphins playing in the ocean and caught another colourful sunset. Cannot beat the view, the food was good and the drinks even better. Worth the hike up the hill to reach this place. Definitely a nice romantic area.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The food was well prepared and delicious. The views of the bay and downtown Puerto Vallarta were breath taking. All this for fair and reasonable prices.

This restaurant has amazing views of Puerta Vallarta. Excellent food and service. They have several pools to relax in as well. You could plan a few hours to sit back catch rays and eat. I would take a cab as it's up a narrow winding road. Our F150 was a tight squeeze and not much for parking.

6 of us went to supper and 5 of us had a meal that was definitely not the quality it should have been. 4 people had the Catch of the Day and it was very dry and tasteless. Seemed to have been prepared in advance and left to keep warm. Even the risotto was dry and looked like plain white rice. 1 person had the pork chop which was also overdone, dry, and tough. We have been here several times in the past and the food was always good, but this experience left us very underwhelmed. Jorge, who made our Spanish coffee, was the shining star of the evening

Enjoyed a wonderful evening with great service, food, and live music. Treat yourself when in PVR as the views of the Bay of Banderas and city are spectacular.

This is a beautiful place to have dinner. The view of Puerto Valarta is perfection. The good is good. Service impecable. The one negative, prices shown on website half todays prices. Please update your posted menu. This is obviously an oversite.

Excellent food. Would have given another star but ordered a Spanish coffee and winter said no too early. It was 7 PM. Customer should be allowed to order when they want it. Would still get the effect but perhaps not as clear as 10 PM.

Casa Isabel is a pretty interesting place. There were some amazing aspects of my stay, and some which leave a little to be desired. Cons: - Room was not private. There were no block-out curtains, so I was always worried about people being able to see into my room. The hotel relies on the fact that we're perched up high on a cliff which means you can't see into the rooms from the street, but it's still an uncomfortable situation given there are apartment buildings a block away - Bathroom was very small, and it was hard for me to move around in the space (I am quite tall!) - There were often folks in the street below me playing loud music between midnight and 3AM, which really impacted my sleep. Because the rooms aren't at all soundproof, the music just comes straight through the window. Pros: - The view across town and over the water is superb and the hotel has a fantastic and unique design aesthetic. - Aside from the above, the rooms are beautiful, and the aircon and wifi are both excellent. - The staff are compassionate and do a conscientious job looking after the guests and keeping the rooms clean. Clearly a labour of love!

One of the Greatest views of PVR! Isabella has been greeting our Mexican group for over 20 years! A must visit spot in PVR! The Irish coffee experience alone is worth the visit.

We have stayed at a private villa next to Casa Isabel for several years, and were disappointed the last two times esting dinner here. The view is incredible, but the menu is kind of lame American (but decent), and the margaritas are subpar. The musicians, bless their hearts, do very typical 70's American hits for tourists (we hear it every night from the villa). But, we go once every trip anyway because it sits a little higher than the villa, so the view is more expansive and lovely.
