I was taken to Hospiten by ambulance after my wife discovered me unconscious sitting in our condo. She told me the paramedics thought I had suffered either a stroke or heart attack. Dr. Robles identified an infection in my brain (brain abscess) and performed emergency surgery. He advised that often a second procedure is necessary to remove any residual infection. The second procedure, done at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles, confirmed the need for the initial surgery and validated the high quality of Dr. Robles’s skill. Dr. Robles reviewed with me and my wife, each MRI and CT scan within minutes of the procedure. He explained each in detail and was extremely patient in answering our volume of questions and concerns. When we returned to Los Angeles, after spending 5 months on Vallarta, my local physicians were astounded by the surgery and general medical care I received. My neurologist in LA repeatedly stated that Dr. Robles saved my life. My cousin and son-in-law are both physicians and were on the phone with Dr. Robles. Both were highly complimentary of him. Aside from his skill as a neurosurgeon, he is a personable and genuinely nice guy. In addition, I can’t say enough about Hospiten and the quality of its physicians. Who would have ever thought such high quality medical care would be available in a tourist city deep in Mexico.

My husband had double stroke and Dr Robles saved his life the same night. Dr Robles is not a doctor off many words but he absolutely has magical hands. I will be forever grateful to him. One year later the stroke is a history and my husband is 100 % back to normal. Thank you so much!

My husband needed emergency surgery for a head injury while we were visiting Puerto Vallarta Mexico. The whole experience was very scary. We were directed to Med Assist Hospital after visiting a clinic there. We were assigned what they described as the best neurosurgeon in all of Mexico. We were very fortunate to have Dr Robles there to do the surgery. He took very good care of us and put our minds to rest. He spoke very good English which is very hard to find in foreign countries. He was very informative and followed up with his treatment. He saved my husbands life and he has fully recovered with no side affects thanks to Dr Robles expert skills. Everyone at the hospital was very professional and caring. We highly recommend Dr Robles! We can never thank him enough for all he did for us!!

Dr Robles diagnosed me with a cancerous brain tumour, got me in for surgery right away and removed the tumour. Excellent service and most importantly very successful. My neurologist back in Canada was amazed at the procedure performed. Thanks Doc

I recommend Dr Robles very highly. His expertise is clearly apparent. His patience while explaining some very complicated processes and procedures was most impressive. In addition, his memory of my spinal issues and the treatments I had received prior to visiting him was remarkable.

My wife had experienced acute back pain for 5 years after a (successful) surgery to repair a herniated disc. Dr. Robles diagnosed the need for a spinal fusion after carefully assessing the pain and exploring all other options. The spinal fusion was a success and her back is fully stabilized and functional again. Throughout our time with Dr. Robles he was patient, thorough and caring. We were truly "in good hands" at all times.

Upon my husband’s retirement from medicine, we embarked on a long-awaited, relaxing winter in Puerto Vallarta. Two weeks into our trip, I began experiencing severe back pain and within two more weeks, I could not walk. I had some occurrences of back pain in the past, but never anything severe. An X-ray done in the states prior to our trip showed age-related demineralization, raising no red flags for a significant issue. We contacted Pam Thompson at Healthcare Resources, Puerto Vallarta, and she arranged an appointment with Dr. Robles for the following day - a Wednesday. Dr. Robles conducted a thorough interview of my history and symptoms and an examination and arranged for an MRI the following day. The MRI revealed a partial compression of my spinal cord. I saw Dr. Robles the following day (Friday) to discuss the results of the MRI, as well as what was happening and next steps to be taken. After much consideration, my husband and I decided that it would be far too risky to travel back to the US for a procedure, as it would risk compressing my spine further or even severing my spinal cord. In the short time that we had gotten to know Dr. Robles, he made both of us feel comfortable and at ease and extremely confident in his expertise. We made the decision to have Dr. Robles perform the surgery in PVR, and he scheduled it for that Monday. Additionally, lab work and a cardiology visit were done in home over that weekend in preparation for the surgery. The surgery went well, I spent a week in the hospital with daily visits (often twice a day) from Dr. Robles. When it came time to be discharged, Pam Thompson arranged for door-to-door ambulatory transportation and an incredible in-home Physical Therapist who created a program of therapy specifically tailored to my needs and lifestyle. I can vividly remember going into the operating room that day and asking my husband, “Will I ever walk again?”. I am happy to report that I am indeed able to walk … and to enjoy life again. I am forever grateful to Dr. Robles for his kindness, expertise and the expediency that he displayed in his care for me, and for his continued follow up in the months that followed. Puerto Vallarta is truly fortunate to have Dr. Luis Robles -- such a talented, dedicated and compassionate neurosurgeon to care for them.

My husband (Marcel) went to Puerto Vallarta for his daughters wedding in February, a trip which probably saved his life! I would like to take this opportunity to thank the man who saved my life. My brain started bleeding (subdural hematomas) after landing in Puerto Vallarta which required lifesaving surgery and days in the ICU. If it was not for Dr. Robles and his team, I would not be with my family today. Dr. Robles is a compassionate, professional and skilled doctor who cares about his patients. Months after I was back in Canada, I was pleasantly surprised to get an email from Dr. Robles asking how I was doing. He wanted to know if I was having any further difficulties and if I was getting the care I needed at home. We hope to one day get back to Mexico to thank Dr. Robles, maybe buy him a drink and share some laughs. Thank You Dr. Robles Marcel Verlinde

Dr Robles is an excellent Nuerosurgeon I had my back operated on by him in June of 2015. I went to him and he told me what was wrong, I wanted a second opinion, the second opinion Dr told I needed to fuse my back. I went back to Dr Robles and told him what I had learned. He told me I didn’t need my back fused. I let Dr Robles operated on me for a symptom called drop foot. He was very good and knowledgeable. My back or leg hasn’t bothered me since. I would recommend Dr Robles to anyone or to anyone who wants to come for a medical vacation

Dr. Robles preformed emergency surgery on my Aorta that had shut off the blood to my legs October of 2021. Dr. Robles is very talented and in addition a very caring patient oriented individual. He took his time to visit me on several occasions at my home as I was in a wheel chair and he felt very concerned to follow up to make sure I was progressing properly. I would strongly recommend Dr. Robles William Meinhold
