If you come from a cruise ship, as we did, just walk about 20-30 mins down the beach and rent chairs and an umbrella from a local. We paid $15 for 4 chairs and an umbrella for a great afternoon. If you walk past several of the inclusive resorts you will come to a bend and a small river. You can buy a bucket of beers from Holi restaurant and snacks if you want, too. Then have the local folks pitch the tent and chairs and enjoy! Much cheaper than an excursion and the sand foot massage is just as enjoyable :-) To find the beach, follow people on feet and turn right after the port exit. There is a neat flea market and good people watching on the way!

It's a nice beach but the Pitillal turned south and passes in front of the Grand Venetian now. If you're using the path next to La Isla from the road to the beach, you'll have to wade across the river.
