Choose a different company, wish we would have done some research about the tour to the islands. We booked our tour through islasmarietas.com.mx expecting a great experience. This company is unorganized they never said to us that they will be docking near the islands and from there they’ll be transporting us in smaller boats to do the different activities. From the moment we docked they started barking orders to load to the smaller boats to go snorkeling, and then to the hidden beach. We were told we would have 30 minutes on the beach my clock said 19 minutes and the guide started corralling people to head back. Smh that’s not enough time to enjoy the beach. It took us like two hours to arrive to the Islands and another 2 hours to return to the port. If you go a little faster you can get there in 45 minutes and maybe spend more time doing the activities.

Snorkeling was only 20 minutes most of that was swimming to the island and onto the boat. They only rinse the used plastic cups, no soap. Had to wait 90 minutes at the restaurant which is more of a hut on the beach than a restaurant, to be served. I was sick to my stomach after eating there. Then another two hours in the baking sun waiting to leave. No horseride or waterfall after the beach.. instead they zig zagged through the bay for two hours making up time.Bad organization, poor communication throughout the entire ordeal.

I didn’t like it at all, I felt like a sardine. Not well organized since the begging and the snorkel time was super short ( I asked one crue member why so short and replied me “ we didn’t said for how long” it felt like a scam) all hurry up. At the beach the bar “ Las brisas” was also bad organized the ppl little rude. The activities meh.. overall I don’t recommend so much. Btw, we notices Thats their rates goes so high with other ppl rather if you paid directly there.

We purchased a boat tour from Guy on the beach at Puerta Vallarta . It was to go snorkeling and visit Los Arcos then go to a beach have lunch and go home approx time 4 to 6 hours .we were to have breakfast and lunch and unlimited alcoholic drinks . We were told to get to Puerto Magico ...by 9 am the tour was to start at 10. Puerto Magico is where the big cruise ships dock. We found out later as we watched a massive 14-story high carnaval cruise ship dock. That was impressive. Our tour was delayed. The start was more like 1030 . The boat called Beach Boy was 2 deck catamaran that could probably hold 200 people . They had plastic lawn chairs lined up for us to sit on for the trip . There were maybe 100 people on this trip . They served a surprisingly good hot breakfast , scrambled eggs , potatoes , pancakes, and coffee . The cruise out was quite rocky, and my son got seasick ..he lay on the floor the whole way out . I enjoyed the snorkeling although the water was a bit murky. I saw some cool looking fish but mostly disappointed at how murky the water was .I was used to crystal clear water like they have off Cozumel. The beach visit was an eye-opening experience. They had to dock in deeper water and then transfer people to a smaller boat to drive them to shore. The ocean was rocky, and it was tricky stepping off the big boat and into the smaller boat. I felt bad for some of the older people. This was a bit athletic in nature . Getting out of the smaller boat on the beach was tricky, too, jumping off the edge onto the sand . The crew was very helpful and made sure everyone was safe . As far as I could tell, every other tour that arrived used this same double boat maneuver . The beach was beautiful but the ocean quite rough . Lunch was served here I had a fried fish it was yummy ! The crew went above and beyond to walk to a nearby place to get my son some drammamine so he could enjoy the trip back . It worked ! They wouldn't take payment . All in all an interesting experience!

After reading the reviews, I was super nervous what to expect. I already felt a little like we got the 'bait and switch,' as we were offered two tickets to whale watching for watching a timeshare presentation. They made it seem like it was with Vallarta Adventures, but it was this company instead. We had a great time, though! The breakfast was basic, but decent, and they brought margaritas around multiple times (open bar). The staff was very knowledgeable about the whales and respectful. We saw a mom and calf, MULTIPLE male and female mating, dolphins and a sea turtle. It was a 4 hour excursion that left on time. (That said, there were no cruise ships in port.) They also take photos during the trip, but those are an extra $400 pesos - and another $100 for the photos they took as we got on. We skipped buying the photos, but had an all in all a really nice morning!

As is often the case in Mexico, the staff were friendly and worked hard, but the entire experience was ruined by a company that obviously cared only about treating the experience as a cash cow. Boat was in need of much repair, only travelled around 1/2 speed (should be cruising at least 11 knots, but we measured only about 7 knots). Stuck on a boat for about 2.5 hours, snorkeled in small area for about 20 minutes, then quickly corralled back into the boat, then taken to a beach for about an hour, and then another 2.5 hours back. The entire day felt like a complete waste of time. Find a different company, Marietas Island still looks like a beautiful place to see.

Just took their Isla Marietas "cruise" and it was honestly the worst or one of the worst experiences we've had in the past 10-20 years. Between false advertising, miscommunications, and other elements I would not recommend them at this time. First, it started with getting charged for our 2 young kids after being told they were already paid for. Then, due to one of the engines being out and not communicating to us, we went slower than half speed both there and back. For expecting to return by 5ish, we didn't get back till close to 7pm, plus got out to the Island 30-60min after the other boats. When you have 2 kids and pretty limited food availability, this becomes an issue. Then, we were expecting to spend time at the beach, but found out only onsite that it was limited to small groups of 12 for about 20min and you had to swim to get there and leave your cameras and everything on the boat. I understand the restriction due to the habitat protection, but none of that was communicated prior to the trip and trying to do this with young kids in the cold water is next to impossible. Similarly, the snorkeling was billed as being better than Los Arcos (can't compare this), but it wasn't worth the trip for that. Murky water, a lack of fish, and strong currents without the use of fins. We were also told that the food would be quite different from the fixed menu they served, which was not great for kids. Again, this was OUR experience with them. Some people on board seemed to have enjoyed themselves, though most appeared as unsatisfied and bored as us in this venture. So, use them at your own risk...

Such a disappointment! Left the dock 45 minutes late. Breakfast was cold scrambled eggs and chips, at Yelapas we were told the pink umbrellas and lounge chairs would be for us but none available for an hour, lunch was mediocre at best, watered down drinks...and then a birthday lap dance performed by one of the crew members. Not wholesome family entertainment.

Good value for the money but I admit it wasn't exactly what I expected - perhaps I should have looked at a brochure or read reviews on line instead of trusting the sales pitch on the malecon. The boat left approximately an hour late due to cruise ships so maybe that impacted put activities but I was there to snorkel and enjoy the use of paddleboards and kayaks. The morning boat ride was long and the sun wasn't so hot yet. They took us to a shoreline just before we reached Yelapa and gave us 15 minutes at most in the water (including the time it took to corral all the snorkelers to the "spot"). We had to wear life jackets around our waists and were not allowed to go near the rocks (which I'm sure is where the life is). The water was silty and stirred up but we did see a school of beautiful blue fish. I thought we were gathering to go to where the good snorkeling was but as soon as we all were together we were told it was time yo return to the boat!! If you are a timid snorkeler and just want to say that you did it, this might be fine for you. Our use of the water toys included being allowed to circle the boat two times in a kayak then it was time to go. What a tease!!! Yelapa was beautiful, though, and I enjoyed my time wandering off alone to explore the area on the beach away from the restaurants and shopping they wanted us to patronize. The lunch was served on the way back around 3pm after my family had already bought food from the waiters on the beach. The lunch was good, though, especially to me since I had waited for the included lunch. The ride back was better as it was warmer and we saw an incredible school of dolphins. The most I think I've ever seen in my life - and I've seen many so believe me, it was significant! They were bow riding and surrounding the boat for 10 in so minutes. A joy! Also on the ride in the morning we got brief glimpses of two whales and I spotted a turtle. The ride back was upbeat and there was music and dancing and my youngest son had a blast joining in the dancing. Our drinks were always full and the crew was extremely attentive to our needs. I was just disappointed not to get a good snorkeling and kayaking/paddleboarding experience. For novice water people who just want a fun boat ride to Yelapa, this trip is perfect! I was quite pleased that the trimaran was not crowded so you could move about and not feel crushed in a crowd. Overall, it was a fun day - just know what you're getting into- don't expect hours of eco exploration on your own. Don't expect top shelf drinks or even real orange juice. It's a day of boat riding, beach time and music and social time. Very kind and attentive staff.

This was not a good experience at all. The trip is 80% waiting and 20% actually doing stuff. It took so long to get our receipts verified, balance paid, etc and took another 40 minutes for the boat to start moving once we got in. They then had another really long queue going on in the boat for breakfast, following which there was another long queue to collect snorkeling equipment. They stopped for about 30-40 minutes for snorkeling at Los Arcos, of which at least 10 minutes went in waiting for our turn to jump into the water. We got barely 20 minutes in the water. We hardly saw any fish. And then they took us to Las Animas. The boat stopped in the middle of the sea. And there was one smaller speed boat doing multiple back and forth trips to collect people from the bigger boat and drop us off to the shore. The music was extremely loud and uncomfortable. The lunch was served after 2-2.5 hours of landing on the Las Animas shore. There was no shower to cleanse yourself after a swim in the sandy beach. Overall it was a very unpleasant experience and I wouldn't go again.

We had a wonderful experience with this company. The crew were friendly and helpful without being obnoxious and over the top like I’ve seen with some tours. It was a trimaran so very stable. We had someone in a wheelchair in our group and it was perfect for her (only thing is the bathroom had stairs but otherwise it was very accessible and easy). The naturalist was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot of interesting facts about whales we didn’t know! Most of the bad reviews I read on here mentioned the food. It wasn’t as terrible as others had said but also, who comes on a whale wale watching trip for the food? Especially when it’s one of the most economical! Al in all, a great experience. Thank you!

If you are not a Spanish speaker, they don't care to talk or explain to you what is happening. You will feel left out and miss out a lot. When we purchased the tour, we were promised a totally different experience. When we got to the boat every thing was disappointing. Do not take this tour by any mean. You can do lot more in Puerto Vallarta than wasting your time for hours and hours on this boat.

Arguably the worst tour I've ever been on in my life. Target eta back is 5pm but boat was travelling half speed, didn't get back until 7pm. Snorkeling was cool but we basically had 40 minutes of activities for a 10 hour day. Staff were exceptionally hard working and provided great service. Go with someone else.

Marietas Islands and Hidden Beach: the crew was great! For breakfast we had pancakes, eggs and pineapple. Lunch we had salad, chips and sandwiches. I was lucky enough to go to the hidden beach (if you can’t swim well don’t try it). The crew member who guided us made sure we made it through safely and even took pictures for us once inside.

What an experience. A jammed packed day, but the fun atmosphere that the crew created kept every single person on the boat full of energy for almost 8 hours. From detailed instructions and attention from the crew, to a great breakfast/lunch provided, to the snorkeling and beach experience; my dad and I had an awesome time and met new friends along the way. Although the snorkeling is only 20-30 minutes, they had crew keep careful watch that no passenger was left behind. Highly recommend this excursion with your friends and family!

A fun day on sea with great stops and sights. Great crew, working hard to keep you safe, having fun, and on schedule. Remember to “spit” in your snorkel gear so you don’t fog up, and best fish to see is just outside of the land tunnel.

After reading the reviews I almost decided not to go, but hey we thought of it as another adventure. One tip I wish someone had posted, bring your towels and if you have a small beach umbrella, pack it along. The boat is a little older.and you sit in plastic lawn chairs. Life preservers are provided, but man are they dirty. Its 2 and a half hours there. We did not snorkel.so I can't comment much on that. We did drink, open bar, warm beer, did not enjoy the mixed drinks much. However there were others that enjoyed them immensely. The breakfast not great, eat before you go. The lunch However was surprisingly good. When you get off the boat you get on a smaller boat to get to the beach, its a cluster f as well as when you get off to the beach. Be prepared to get wet. The drinks on animas beach were expensive. The beach there not too great when we went, but because the tides were higher than normal. Overall it was a good experience, the crew was good and attentive and did their best to make it.a fun experience. Don't let the old bad reviews spook you, give them a chance.

I paid for all breakfast and lunch included package but the check in agent at the front desk charged me another $100 stating breakfast was not included. The guy was even trying to charge extra for changing our menus options which was already included and open option.

Asked for a snorkeling opportunity, got a long drawn out boat ride, instructions not explained. Snorkeling was 15 minutes in murky low visibility waters, turn around get back on boat. Also included docking in resort spot to offer horseback riding and views of secluded waterfalls. In same breath of air "guide" also said there was comped food at a restaurant, so we all went to the restaurant got seated and were told food was coming any minute now. 90 minutes later food arrives and 10 minutes later they tell us back to the boat, didn't see any sites. Also irrate how inefficient and drawn out the docking/undocking takes at beach over 90 mines could be done in 1/4 time. Only shining grace: $75USD with $50 deposit but thankfully no one mentioned the $25 remaining amount. Still lost an entire day. Just avoid. Just avoid. If you have itch for South end resorts only accessible by boat, take a bus/taxi to town of Boca De Tomatlan and hire a boater to transport you to resorts for 50-100MXN each way.

The desire was to have a safe, well skippered sail and not be scammed or patronized. Gravy would be to actually see whales and not whine about the vagaries of whale watching, convenient facts about freaked out whales diving for long periods, and predatory unlicensed tour boats scaring them away. I am pretty jaundiced about tourist traps and was expecting the worst based on some of the reviews here. There is a crossover point when skepticism and pointed questioning yields to “Oh, really” and “Hmm, hadn’t thought of that”. When the process unfolds and all the steps track to the best expectations that you could have designed. Cruceros Beachboy (a name that begs rolled eyes of incredulity) delivered... and more. Priced below anything else available, by far. Professional from the moment you arrive. Uniformed, formal, detailed, crystal clear on the process, polite without being obsequious, attentive without tip-mongering, informative without fluff or pandering, every single person was right there. The staff focused on the mechanics of establishing the tone and executing the safe and efficient boarding, with security and safety rigorous and assistive. The staff responsible for informing, entertaining and managing the sail were beyond the norm in every dimension of their craft. Seriously, as a hard grader of these sorts of things, I spent more time marveling at the ebb and flow of their camaraderie and the masterful way they matched pace and timing to the audience. But, the point was to see whales, and whales we saw. Ahead, behind, under, around, slapping tails, breaching, spouting, lazily rolling and waving fins... within inches of the boat. Away from the gaggles of clamoring ships elsewhere, we had the pod to ourselves. Then, when life couldn’t deliver more, our crew did. Awash in a sea frothing with the undulations of hundreds of dolphins lacing the bow with their dance of welcome, leaping into the air, parading, damned near laughing with the fun of it all... were we lucky beyond fate or were the Beach Boys just this good at finding what we came to see and delighting us with what we couldn’t have imagined? Bottomless drink, credible edible food, vantage points for watching, nonpareil... and just the nicest people I could have hoped for. Over the top? Hyperbole, fawning dramatization. No, you couldn’t pay me to say what I want to say about the experience. My son’s future mother in law was in tears that this incidental little excursion had been so memorable. Nothing else could say it better. Thank you Cruceros Beach Boy, all of you.

An authorized vendor sold us a trip to Marietas Island, which he said it would include the Playa Escondida. On the day when we were checkin in the guy on the counter said playa escondida wasn’t included because it solds out so quick. We got very upset cause the vendor sold us that. We got a discount after all because playa escondida wasn’t included but guess what? They were selling playa escondida apart inside the cruise for $1000 pesos. So it was a little bit of a scam. What saved the day was the cruise crew they are absolutely amazing, helpful and fun!!!! Those people deserve all the recognition.

Really enjoyed the trip with this company. We went snorkelling and to the puerto escondido beach 🏝. Breakfast was coffee, juice, a cookie, apple and yogurt. Nice and simple. We then did the activities and could help ourselves to soft drinks when we wanted. After the activities was a delicious lunch 🥗 chicken salad with bread and pasta and as much beer and margaritas as you wanted. We paid 750 pesos each and I think overall it was a lovely day, amazing sites, good entertainment and food. Would recommend them. 😊 The only thing I would say is everything takes a long time the loading people into smaller boats etc. The trip is not 9-5 more 9-6/7 so keep that in mind if you have evening plans.

Whale Watching at its best! The Catamaran is well equipped. The staff are extremely attentive to your needs and requests. The food, for breakfast, is good and ample. The captain is respectful of the marine life and laws that protect the whales. Seating is comfortable and there is plenty of room on the boat to move and view the movements of the whales. My first excursion was in late January and again mid February and each trip was excellent. Whales breeching, whales chasing and fighting, a mother and her calf. It is a wonderful time in the Bay to view the Whales. Beach Boy office is very well organized from the time you get your "ticket" through the boarding process. Definately recommend this service. I have been on whale watching trips in Iceland, Hawaii, Canada and the U.S.A By far the abundance of Whales in the Bay during the mating and birthing season is not to be missed.

Be sure to ask the vendors (Christian Ramirez) what all is and isn't included in the "all inclusive" excursion. They said transport to and from would be included- was not. There were port fees we had to pay. And the activities they include (kayaking, horseback riding, etc.) cost extra as well. I was debating disputing the charges as misleading/fraudulent due to the vendors obvious omissions but the redeeming factor was that the crew was very friendly and entertaining. Just be sure that your authorized vendors are more forthcoming to what is not included.

We had an great time on this tour. We enjoyed the boat ride and the guides. They were a few things out of the guides control that were a bit unpleasant. But the boat/ guides/lunch was worth it. I went on a Tour while in Puerto Vallarta. I was promised pictures I purchased via email by the next day. It's been almost a week and no pictures. I have emailed at least 3 times, no response, no pictures. Yes great customers service by the crew but everthing else a failing grade.

This tour is a no-frills ferry ride with some not-so-great food and two stops 1—snorkeling for 20 Minutes 2. Beach stop, and 10 hours later, you get back to the port. I would not recommend this trip to people who struggle to walk or climb ladders. We had to get our food at the beach stop because it was too far for my elder Mother to walk to their restaurant. I informed them before we left that dock that my Mother could not walk that far. They should have been upfront about the boat transfer to the beach and how far it was to walk to the restaurant. If we had known, we would not have gone. I think this trip is only worth 20 dollars if you do not drink 10 dollars.

Beach boys was a lot of fun. We had a great time on the boat, snorkeling and at Las Animas beach. At the restaurant at Las Animas we had one of the best sea bass lunches on our whole trip to Puerto Vallarta. Snorkeling was fun. A bit cloudy and deep, but saw a bunch of fish and the crew were out there keeping an eye on the tourists. Life jackets, snorkeling equipment included.

The whale watching aboard their catamaran was simply excellent! Was a beautiful day and the crew, service and total experience was just fantastic! Whales were sighted very early into our voyage with many more sightings to follow, it seemed like the captain knew where to go for the best action! Whales surfacing just a few meters away on our port side was really more than I expected!! We were fortunate enough to see a whale jump and make a huge splash! Thank God for such beautiful creatures and scenery!!

Cruceros Beach Boys Marietas Eco Tours! I just went October 31st and loved it. They offer many great activities and time to complete any or all of them. You can even go to another small island beach, paddle board, snorkel, swim inside to the Hidden Beach, and a guided small boat tour around the Hidden Beach Island.

Had a great experience, positive vibes all Day. Great customer service 👏. The only thing I would change would be the food they gave us for lunch. Instead of burgers, maybe do something more Mexican food like quesadillas with some sort of meat or shrimp. The boat ride kind of sucks because it was very long. I wish the boat went a little bit faster.

  • 3/5 Via T. 1 year ago on Google
The crew were extremely friendly and always made sure that you were taken care of. The only downside is the long 3 hours each way boat ride and about 30 min of snorkeling and another 30-45 of kayaking or paddleboarding off the boat. It would have been better to spend more time snorkeling and relax on the beach.
