Writing this on behalf of my husband and cousin, who are sitting here with me. I was in charge of finding a shared fishing charter for them and based on reviews and services offered, I chose Mike's. Leading up to the tour they had great communication. I was told the tour would be either in or off shore based on sea conditions but that it's geared toward in shore in order to let less skilled fishers have a chance to catch. This worked well for us because though my cousin and husband are skilled, they wanted quantity vs size. However, the night before we reached out to them to confirm whether the tour would still be going out (based on that days weather conditions) and whether it would be in or off shore fishing. We got limited responses and eventually they stopped responding. The day of they got on the boat and another couple were the only other people on board. (They also had a bad experience and I hope they leave their reviews as well.) The tour ended up going off shore. At the time no one on board knew why because the crew didn't speak to anyone. It wasn't until later that we found out it was because a red ride came through that was killing a lot of fish. No one on board touched a fishing pole for the entire 8 hour tour, much to the dismay of my husband and cousin and the other couple on board, one of which who was a semi pro bass fisherman. Not once was it offered to choose a different location to try or was it explained that a red tide was causing bad conditions. Now, as a group who are familiar with fishing, excursions, and the unpredictability of nature, we understand that catching anything is never guaranteed. However, what's upsetting is that we were never given the option to rebook for a different date after the red tide passed through. As a fishing charter company, they would have been well aware that fishing in those conditions would be extremely poor but still chose to take everyone out. We communicated this to the company but the declined to do anything to rectify the situation. Needless to say, we don't recommend this company.

8 hour trip in a half broken down boat with no sonar or fish finder. Boats all around us caught fish. We were told the fish finder and GPS were in our Captains head. Miguelā€™s performance came up well short. I have been on 50 other fishing tours and this was by far the worst. ****** In response to owner:

Our group went with Izzy, Oscar, Mary and crew to Los Arcos PV for snorkeling February 24/19. The crew was amazing! Spoke great English and was super funny! We were lucky enough to see a baby humpback whale and itā€™s mama on the way, the captain got super close to shore for great photos of the Malecon and the boat was super clean. When we stopped to snorkel/swim they were very clear and strict on safety procedures which I was happy with as I was a first time snorkler. Once in the water saw huge amount of fish and a stingray! For me it was a quick in and out of the water as I didnā€™t feel I was a strong enough swimmer But others In the group was in the water the full time. On the way back to port the food and beer was flowing and music pumping. It was a great event!

Had a great time doing the half-day snorkelling tour. The boat was lovely - very clean, different seating options, and had basic washrooms on board. The staff were all amazing, very helpful and friendly and excellent at their jobs. The provided food was pretty good - ceviche, taquitos and more snacks. The drinks were also excellent. The snorkelling itself was decent. We went to Los Arcos park and there was a bit of a red tide but visibility was okay. Saw a lot of fish surprisingly and were also able to swim around the islands a bit. We brought our own gear but they had it available I'd you didn't. Next we went to a different spot for more activities - jumping off the boat, swimming, and paddleboarding which was fun. I found the tour good value for money and really enjoyed it.

I specifically booked the Karina because we have had great luck on it and it has two fighting chairs, they changed the boat to the Isabella and did not tell us. We have been out on the Isabella and did not like it and had terrible luck. It also only has one fighting chair. We were told we would be leaving the marina at 5AM, the boat was twenty minutes late. A photographer was also on the boat, which was awkward. We booked a 10 hour trip. The trip out to the fishing grounds took about two hours. The photographer used one of the state rooms so we had to sleep on the couches in the main area. The Captain and deck hand smoked cigarettes nonstop. The captain took several naps and let the photographer run the boat. I am guessing that the captain would know the fishing grounds better than the photographer. We asked to come in 2 hours early. In the end I wasted $1300. This was our 4th and final trip with Mikes...

If interested in fishing as opposed to site seeing tour Iā€™d recommend another charter. I have been on many guided fishing trips and this by far was the most disappointing. Youā€™re never guaranteed to catch fish thatā€™s just part of fishing. However it become clear very quickly the captain was only interested in trolling around doing the bare minimum to get through the 4 hrs. Few observationsā€¦.. 1) captain wouldnā€™t shake my hand when I introduced myself. Just fist bump. No biggie I thought. Looking back it was a sign of him being disinterested in making the experience good. 2) made a big circle trolling and never changed lures once. 3) Captain never said a word the entire 4 hrs. Never explained how weā€™re fishing, where they normally catch fish, what theyā€™re doing to try and change things up to get on fish, no communication. 4) the last hour of the trip was inland and more of a site seeing tour than fishing. Very obvious we werenā€™t fishing at that point and not an area where one would expect to catch fish. I spent $640 to fish not go on a boat tour. 5) at the end of the trip we caught one 8ā€ fish. The captain did not say a word. Did not climb down to say goodbye or even attempt to explain why the fishing was poor. Pathetic in my opinion!! Have had rough fishing days before but still enjoyed the experience. Not this time. The one good review Iā€™ll give is the young man who tagged along to take pictures was very pleasant and talked with us a lot at the start of the trip. That said I think he knew the trip was bad because he didnā€™t even offer a card or provide a way to get the pics he took. He knew the service had been poor. He even apologized for the fishing being difficult. Just a polite young man. The captain should have been the one who explaining why the fishing was poor or at a minimum level setting expectations when we went out. Bottom line if you want to go site seeing Iā€™m sure itā€™s great. If you want to fish, not so much. Just glad I didnā€™t book an 8 hr trip. Would have been the biggest waste of time ever. First review Iā€™ve ever written and only because of my disappointment.

We had an incredible time whale watching on my birthday. The boat was spacious, and clean. The staff were all incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We took a tour that included breakfast and lunch as well as an open bar, and it did not disappoint! I am celiac, and I brought a Spanish language celiac card, and the chef put together a plate full of food that was amazing (marlin burrito wrapped in ham, vegan ceviche, potato chips, fruit). They really went out of their way to accommodate. They knew exactly where to find the whales and we maybe went 20 mins total without seeing whales out of the 4.5 hour tour. I would do this tour again in a heart beat and would recommend to anyone who wants a stellar whale watching experience!

We had a fabulous time. The crew put up a great show, we managed to see lots of sea life, food was good, and the ship was in top shape. Definitely worth the investment!!!

Fun time whale watching on huge catamaran boat. Definitely a larger tour group my guess is around 40-50 people total. Provided breakfast snacks along with lunch and full open bar. Food was good. Drinks were also good. They tour around puerto Vallarta coast took us to a few spots with other whale watching tours in the area. Saw a few groups of whales. All together good time. Being a larger tour group and boat it was kinda a boat party between to the booze and music.

My mom, brother, and I had a great time on this whale watching cruise. We saw many humpback whales (to our great delight - and surprise - you never know!!), as well as a good number of dolphins. The staff was wonderful on Canuwa. Our host did a great job giving us information about the whales, as well as leading a great round of trivia - in Spanish and English! We were never without a drink in our hand, and the food was also delicious. We would highly recommend this tour! Cheers!

Family (mom + brother) and I enjoyed every minute of the Snorkeling Tour with Panda (aka Aldo) and the crew!! Yes this was a snorkeling tour, but I want to start on a very important topic: food. I was not expecting the quality of the food to be high given that everything was prepped on the boat, but the chef absolutely nailed the vegan ceviche and marlin tacos!! We went back for seconds and thirds (fourths for my brother). The lunch was so fresh and flavorfulā€¦ really a perfect post ocean frolic meal. Oh, and the pancakes in the morning were tasty too! Okay back to what yā€™all are reading this for: the crew. They were excellent! Everyone was so attentive and friendly and clearly skilled at their jobs. They made sure we were safe and well taken care of. Anything we needed (within reason) was taken care of. Okay okay, now to what yā€™all really wanted to know about: the snorkeling. Unfortunately, it didnā€™t happen. The water around Los Arcos was choppy (not a huge surprise given the large waves in PV specifically and the Pacific coast broadly), so the park rangers did not permit snorkeling. Bummer? Yes. Trip ruined? Absolutely not. You canā€™t control the ocean, but you can find alternative ways to enjoy it, which is exactly what we did. Panda and the crew took us out to a calmer spot where we could play in the water (e.g., swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, jumping off the boat). My family and I had the most fun!! Now to the only bad part of the trip: fellow passengers did not know how to use the pump to flush the toilets šŸ™ƒ Thatā€™s it. That was the only issue we encountered. Well actuallyā€¦ there was one more issueā€¦ Panda promised me he would do a backflip but he never delivered. Iā€™ll be back just to see it happen! There is more to rave about (e.g., the boat is way nicer than some others Iā€™ve seen), but this is already long review. Highly, highly, highly recommend that you all book with Mikeā€™s!!

While we didnā€™t catch our target fish. We did catch enough Bonitos for dinner and boat made ceviche for the ride back to the dock. Boat is well equipped and comfortable for 7. It is showing its age. Crew was helpful and amenable to changing tactics.

Alex and his crew were awesome! Great food, great drinks, great service. The dock was easy to find. Communication was easy. Our bachelor party of 10 had an amazing time!

Great tour. 8.5 hours. Breakfast was great, they even served coffee. Lunch was heavy on the meat, not enough vegetables, fruits. It was called a snorkeling tour but they didn't let us snorkel for long. Saw some nice fish but after 15 min they called us back to the boat to continue on to the private beach. I would have loved to snorkel for at LEAST 1 hour considering it was called a snorkeling tour. Where we snorkeled was beautiful. Even though the visibility wasn't great that day it was still amazing and we swam through tunnel in the small island. I give the tour a 4/5 but if you rate the snorkeling, it is only 3/5 not because of the visibility but because of the short time we snorkeled.

This past Saturday I went Whale Watching with Mike's Fishing and Tours. The boat was beautiful with lots of room to spread out. The staff was the best and always there to assist. The continental breakfast and lunch were perfect. We got to see many whales. I cannot recommend Mike's enough. I will definitely use them again.

We had an incredible time whale watching with this tour. The company does not overbook their boats which allows everyone a chance to see, although some people would still stand up in front of others. I could have said my only complaint was that they didn't remind people to not stand up along the rails or in front of people, BUT, we saw so many whales so often, that you didn't miss out. They also did a great job of respecting the whales. A pod of whales were spotted early on by multiple boats, and though we stayed with them for a decent amount of time, we backed off and went looking elsewhere unlike many other tour groups who stayed and followed them. Coincidentally, the next pod of whales we saw, came right up from underneath us and shocked everyone! The guides did a great job of explaining some of the whale's behaviors as well as how changes in how the tours are operated has impacted the whale migration. The staff was personable, fun and gave a final comedy act for everyone. The food was much better than I was expecting and the drinks were plenty. With there not being a ton of people, it also made it easy to walk around and move to different locations as you pleased. Would highly recommend.

Terrible service. The boat was not the one we booked. No beer on the boat as promised. One bottle of water each. We had one hit in the first hour. The crew did not even check the line to see if the bait was gone.. Dragged that line for another hourwith only the baits head on.We had to ask the crew to possibly change lures and baits. Seemed like we were bothering tjem to do it. The 3 crew members spent the whole time on the bridge not really caring if we caught a fish. After 4 hours we said go home. Sped up the boat and surprisingly caught a small tuna.

We had a great experience with Mike's Fishing on the catamaran. Our Captain and host were truly amazing! We were fortunate to see a few different pods of humpbacks, saw dolphins, and a sea turtle. Food and drink accomodations were delicious.

OMG. 4 of us went on December 9, 2022 and are still raving about this amazing whale watching ride. Best water ride I have ever been on. It was entertaining and educational. The staff were amazing and friendly and helpful. They made us feel we were all one big party. Loved every minute of it and learned so much and admired the boatā€™s cleanliness and respect for the oceanā€™s purity and the inhabitants. Martin at the booth outside was very helpful in finding just the right attraction at the best price. In one word FABULOUS from start to finish. Love these guys and forever grateful to each and every one affiliated with Mikeā€™s tours.

Just booked our second whale watching tour with Mike's Fishing & Tours. Our first experience in February 2022 was amazing - the boat was large and comfortable (and has toilets!), friendly crew, breakfast, open bar and delicious mahi mahi tostados! The price for the experience is very reasonable. We saw a number of whales breach and also saw a giant manta ray. It was so perfect, we're returning in December 2022 and the first thing we booked after flight and lodging was our whale watching tour with Mike's. We have family visiting PV in Feb. 2023 and they have also booked with Mike's based on our recommendation. You won't be disappointed. Make sure you bring some pesos to leave a tip for the boat staff afterward. They are awesome & totally deserve it!

One of the best boat tour experiences to date! Great captain and crew, extremely friendly staff. Highly recommend for a private event. We took a private tour from Marina Vallarta to Playa Quimixto. Such a great way to spend here in Puerto Vallarta

    1. Boat was late. 2. Different boat than contracted arrived. 3. Captain and deck-hand barely spoke English. 4. No real communication. 5. Diesel exhaust coming from back of boat was really bad, made some of us sick. Bad weather turned us around 1- hour out. Total trip was 2.5 hours. Company charged us full amount even though rate advertised online is $159/hr. Get everything in writing.

This was an awesome experience. The boat we went on was literally the best experiences I've had. The specific boat was called "canuwa 2". I highly recommend to ask for this specific boat because it will be the same crew running it. They will take care of you

We had the most amazing time on their south paradise public tour! The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating! It was storming the day I had booked and they we're very helpful in rescheduling us. The package we chose came with an open bar which made it an amazing deal, especially compared to some of the larger tour groups in the area. The owner of the boat was the one to guide us through the snorkeling portion, he was helpfu, and personable. The guide Eddie was full of energy, and entertaining, even though the weather wasn't amazing he warmed us up instead of the sun! At the beach club one of us got ill and a waiter RAN down the beach to get some medicine! Amazing! Lunch buffet was way better than I could have expected, we all went back for seconds!

The finest whale-watching excursion weā€™ve ever had. A professional, fun, skilled crew on a comfortable, spacious boat with ample places for great views. The crew went out of their way to get us close sightings - even staying longer on an already generously timed tour (4 hours!). Continental breakfast, a delicious lunch, and all you can drink included in the price!

The crew was incredibly kind and helpful. They were constantly looking for ways to serve us. We saw a TON of whales and dolphins! The food was delicious and the drinks were plentiful. We were well taken care of and the trip was worth it.
