If you swallow water here youll get sick. The sewer water from the river has been a problem for ages here. Dirtiest beach I've ever seen in Mexiko.

An alright beach. It was a little crowded when I brought the family. There were people selling knock off sunglass and handcrafted goods. Also, got a little performance from the locals while eating at el break cafe (see other review). Had a good time. 4/5 enjoy the video.

Nice beach. Sand is dark and kinda sticky. Lots of rocks on the beach due to the recent storms. Love the beachside food and drink options. Chairs and umbrellas are reasonable. Daily rate with bar service. Lots and lots of people will come try to sell you stuff. Oysters, shrimp on a stick, fruit, clothing, etc. great place to spend the day. Surf is ok, but the waves are a little strong and frequent to play in the water. Lots of people get knocked down when the surf is up.

Stunning beach, huge waves in January and plenty of surfers. Lots of people trying to sell stuff and it can get busy but it's big enough to cope. Great day out.

Good beach for surfing and spending the day. Cheap surfboards or boogie boards for rent right on the beach. My family bought food on the beach and said it was gross, so don’t recommend that.. probably better to walk around the town and get tacos on the street.

I love the view, and the water is so warm, you can rent chairs and table for $15 all day, and they offer drinks, so you can spend a great day in here! 😍

I bet this place was amazing 20 years ago. Such a colorful and unique town with a great beach. But it's no longer a hidden gem, it's very well known, and is PACKED with tourists.

Loved it. But it does depend on what you are looking for. Super busy, umbrellas for rent, town is right behind the beach with lots of places to eat, lots of inexpensive massage tables on the beach, and great waves for a beginner to surf. Tons of people coming around to sell you things so if you don't like that I'd go somewhere else

Very cool place. Lots of people flock here. I suggest you take a walk and find a not so crowded area away from the crowd if you don't like having neighbors at the beach. Lots of eateries and places to grab a drink.

This beach is beautiful loads of vendors. One minus star because the beach is aggressive and just wading in it you get rocks tossed at you and get cuts on your legs. Wear water shoes for sure!

Coolest Mexican beach town I have ever been to. You could spend years happily exploring all the little shops and eateries or just lounging on the picturesque beach.

Nice drive from Puerto Vallarta to Sayulitas.. It feels more like somewhere in the states. Lots of gringos. The water was sooo warm and nice for a swim.

Great place to relax and not do anything. If you want to try surfing, it's a great location. The instructors seemed decent. The food was decent for the location. Servers knew the menu and were pleasant. Drinks were great.

Picturesque town, it's great to walk around and see all the craft and clothes stores. The sand looks like it has gold in it. The down is that it has been taken by foreigners and has become ridiculously expensive.

Playa principal is a great place to spend a day with the family. Very laid back with multiple vendors selling various items. Large umbrellas with multiple chairs for rent and food can be brought in from local restaurants with a simple phone call. The town itself is very cool and has a hippie vibe

Beautiful large beach and good surf spot. Plenty of chairs, tables and umbrellas available for rent.

Warning! Swim at your own risk! This beach is polluted with sewage from the town. My partner and I got EXTREMELY sick from this water. The city is beautiful but does not have a proper sewer system! Please do your research before visiting Sayulita, plenty of people got very sick here—it’s really unfortunate. I would revisit San Pancho which is the neighboring town!

Beautiful beach looks like you're swimming in Gold it's very colorful very unique. the locals are very nice the shops are very eye-catching and colorful. And you can get a 1-hour massage on the beach for $25.

Good reef break as well as smaller, learner waves. Lots of chairs and umbrellas. This is not the deserted Mexican beach of your dreams but it's Sayulita. Enjoy the vibe now before its popularity changes it forever.

Beautiful location, but super crowded beach. Lots of bars around, surfing rentals.

I did not like sayulita beach at all and it's sad to see how much tourism and money has destroyed what was once a beautiful piece of nature. It was only a few years ago when you could come to sayulita and see only a few beach chairs, umbrellas, and people. Now when you come to sayulita, the beach is extremely crowded, there are so many chairs and umbrellas that you barely see any actual beach sand, there are tons of people in the water you can barely surf, and you are harassed non stop by vendors. Such a shame!

  • 3/5 Mark C. 2 years ago on Google
Not my favorite. Lots of people, very touristy.

  • 5/5 Chad L. 4 years ago on Google
Wonderful beach that can get a little crowded.

  • 4/5 Alan H. 3 years ago on Google
Fun beach and city. The city vibe has a more surfer feel to it compared to other cities. There are lots of bars and restaurants. The beach is full of beach clubs and open beach. Chairs with umbrellas are free at most beach clubs. You just need to buy some drinks. You can swim in the ocean. The water is warm. But when I went it has quite a bit of seaweed and floating leaves. Further out it was a bit rocky. But parts of the water near the beach were rock free. The crowd at the beach is all ages but tends to be more families. Overall the gay scene in Sayulita is minimal.

Beautiful sunny and the ocean is warm. Highly recommend Sayulita .the town is quaint and friendly .Surfing is great and the food scene is vibrant.

Was great because wasnt as crowed as it normally is due to covid!!o

The town is cool, nice night life hip etc. But Beach and surf itself wasn’t that great IMO, brown water, rock bottom, seemingly one peak which everyone crowds.

👍 I didn’t have much time to tour this cool surf town with the group I was with but it is very colorful and clean. It is also very picturesque and nothing is real far from the beach.
