My
wife
and
I
spent
a
week
at
the
Mousai,
from
Christmas
to
New
Year’s.
I’d
been
trying
to
get
there
for
a
few
years
and
it
did
not
disappoint.
The
Mousai
itself
is
the
high-end
option
among
a
half
dozen
hotels/residences
in
the
Garza
Blanca
preserve,
which
is
a
fairly
large
piece
of
land
that
includes
hiking
trails,
the
hotel
properties,
a
couple
of
pools
and
the
beach.
This
was
a
splurge
for
us
so
we
went
for
the
corner
suite
and
an
“ultra”
package,
which
includes
a
higher
floor
and
a
butler.
Since
it
was
COVID-omicron
and
we
didn’t
want
to
risk
testing
positive
we
did
the
all-inclusive
package
and
pretty
much
never
left
the
preserve.
We
felt
very
safe
COVID-wise.
The
room
was
spectacular,
every
bit
as
nice
as
the
photos
imply.
We
looked
out
on
the
ocean
from
the
10th
floor
and
saw
whales
migrating
down
the
coast.
Each
room
has
a
private
plunge
pool,
which
we
didn’t
use
much
but
the
few
times
I
cooled
off
or
relaxed
in
it
were
very
nice.
There’s
also
a
hammock,
which
I
personally
love.
The
Mousai
itself
is
beautifully
maintained,
everything
was
spotless.
The
ratio
of
staff
to
guests
is
high.
We
never
had
trouble
finding
someone
when
we
needed
them
and
they
seemed
genuinely
happy
to
be
working
there
(conversations
with
several
staff
confirmed
this).
On
that
point
I’d
like
to
call
out
a
few
people
who
were
especially
helpful:
Ana
-
pre-concierge.
She
got
us
set
up
with
restaurant
reservations
and
answered
our
many
questions
before
we
arrived.
It
was
really
helpful
to
be
informed
before
we
got
there.
Maria
–
yoga.
We
did
yoga
with
Maria
twice.
I’ve
done
yoga
for
years
and
this
was
just
the
right
class
for
a
vacation.
Challenging
enough
with
plenty
of
relaxation.
Maria
is
also
a
lovely
person.
Tito
–
hike.
We
hiked
twice,
the
second
time
with
Tito.
He
was
very
knowledgeable
about
the
plants
and
shared
all
sorts
of
interesting
facts.
It
really
took
the
hike
to
another
level.
Oswaldo
–
kayak.
We
kayaked
to
Los
Altos
(large
rocks/arches)
twice,
the
second
time
with
Oswaldo.
Excellent
guide.
Eduardo
–
breakfast.
We
had
breakfast
on
the
Mousai
patio
every
morning
and
most
days
we
were
greeted/served
by
Eduardo.
Terrific
service,
excellent
suggestions
and
just
a
pleasure
to
interact
with.
Really
started
the
day
off
right.
Edward
–
butler.
I
was
dubious
about
how
useful
a
“butler”
would
be
until
I
realized
that
he
was
essentially
our
personal
concierge.
It
was
amazingly
convenient
to
text
him
for
anything
that
we
needed,
whether
it
was
a
restaurant
reservation,
a
question,
some
service,
you
name
it.
The
last
day
we
had
to
pack
up
something
we
bought
so
it
would
survive
being
checked
as
luggage
on
the
plane
and
Edward
hunted
down
a
box,
bubble
wrap
and
tape
and
had
them
brought
to
our
room.
Really
above
and
beyond,
and
such
a
nice
person
as
well.
We
ate
in
pretty
much
all
of
the
restaurants.
All
were
good
but
some
were
better
than
others:
BlancaBlue
–
Mexican
restaurant
on
the
beach.
Excellent
flavors,
really
enjoyed
this.
Might
have
been
my
favorite.
BocaDos
–
steak
house.
It’s
hard
to
get
steak
right
but
they
did
it.
I
ordered
an
aged
ribeye
and
it
was
just
perfect.
Barely
medium
inside
but
with
a
nice
crust
on
the
edges.
Fantastic
flavor.
Dao
–
new
Chinese
restaurant.
Very
good
flavors,
interesting
choices.
The
only
thing
I’ll
say
is
that
it’s
loud,
in
part
because
it’s
the
only
restaurant
with
no
option
to
dine
outdoors.
Food
was
great
though.
Hiroshi
–
Japanese.
This
one
disappointed
a
bit,
maybe
because
it’s
their
premier
restaurant
and
I
expected
more.
We
ate
here
twice
and
it
was
certainly
good,
but
nothing
exceptional.
The
sushi
in
particular
was
disappointing.
NOI
-new
Italian
restaurant.
Ordered
fish
(sea
bass)
and
also
a
pasta.
The
fish
was
good
but
the
past
was
great.
If
you
eat
here
stick
to
the
more
authentic
Italian
dishes.
