Hotel Quinta Maria Cortez is nothing short of magical. The entire experience is sublime. First, the design of the inn and the rooms is spectacular. Heavily influenced by Mexican design and artifacts, as well as other influences (like, Roman columns), each room has its own personality. The common areas are well appointed and complete the package. The design is classical, not modern yet each room has every modern amenity you want. In terms of amenities, there was nothing lacking: - Daily breakfast made to order - Butler-like service available all day (until 8pm) - Menu of food, drinks and wines available all day, including on the beach - Kitchenette including coffee maker toaster oven fridge and blender - Air conditioning, ceiling fans - Luxe rain shower and soaking tub - Plunge pool on premises, Massage available Direct access to a fairly secluded beach is a hallmark of this hotel. The beach in front of Hotel QMC is spectacular, and is perfect if you prefer not to be packed in with others (as with at the “chairs” resorts down the beach). There are some craggy rock formations, which provide privacy, with smooth sand between allowing for swimming and access to the water beyond. Snorkeling can be done just off the beach, and sunrises and sunsets are amazing. And drinks available all day, just call and order! The service at this hotel is five star. From Sara the service manager, to housekeeping, breakfast staff, and butler/security staff everyone is incredibly friendly, accommodating and service oriented; and make you feel like family. We had breakfast one morning with one of the hotel owners (who is also a frequent guest) who was charming and told us about the history of the hotel and some of the characters and urban legends of Puerto Vallarta. There is a menu of food and drink items (including bottles of wine) which can be delivered to your suite, the beach or anywhere on the property - and are just a phone call away. There is an Oxxo convenience store a 5 minute walk from the Inn. A few things worth noting, which may make this property not right for you: The Inn is built into the side of a cliff, you enter on the top level and rooms are spread over 4 or 5 levels all connected by stairs, if you have difficulty with stairs or mobility this it not the right place for you. They do have a plunge pool, but not a big resort-style pool. It’s all about the beach. The Inn is located in the affluent area known as Playa Conchas Chinas. It is a 15 minute walk to the Malecon, or a 10 minute cab ride. Cab ride is 70-100 pesos, so not really a financial issue but might be a convenience issue for some. All told, this is an ideal place if you want to split your experience between luxurious quiet beach time, and the buzz of in-town time. We can’t wait to go back!

Overall, I really enjoyed the Quinta! Several of the shared spaces were decorated fabulously (think old world Mexican antiques). Love the 1600’s vibe of the hotel. The ocean views amazing. Staff incredibly kind. Complimentary breakfast was the same daily but still delicious and plentiful (choose the Huevos Rancheros and fresh fruit!!!) Coffee excellent. Bed and linens were impeccable. Enjoyed having lit candles in the room. I would agree that folks who find climbing lots of stairs painful or hard likely will not enjoy their experience, but I used the climbs as a great way to work my thighs. Wearing a bikini after all. The website states you can arrange a ride from the airport, which is no longer true and they need to update. There are a couple updates they could do that would elevate the hotel, including replacing or painting the rusting light sconces.

Where to begin: quaint, rustic and romantic. Boutique and eclectic. Ocean breezes and beach views, breakfast and snacks and drinks and the pool and the staff and the location…we love this place, one of our most magical stays in our beloved Mexico. Thank you, QMC, thank you. We will be back!

We stayed 7 nights at this beautiful hotel and had a great experience. It is in a quieter part of town, which was nice. The rooms are beautiful and very clean. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a comfortable stay. The complimentary made to order breakfast is delicious! Would definitely recommend staying here!

We stayed in the Ocean front Guadalupe Suite. It’s literally right on the ocean with access to the sand from your balcony which is why we chose the room. The entire staff is absolutely amazing especially Giovanni— they pay attention to every detail for you. The beach the hotel sits on is very private and most times we were the only ones out there. The staff has beach beds and umbrellas put out for you and you can order drinks and snacks beachside. The menu throughout the day is small but the made to order breakfast is amazing, had the Huevos Rancheros three days straight and still not over it! There is also two restaurants walking distance on the beach, La Playitas was our favorite and Le Set is also next to La Playitas. Would definitely stay again!

Absolute gem of a place. Waking up to this view every day is the best way to start each day in Puerto Vallarta. Enjoying it with evening cocktails isn't too bad either. All the staff were fantastic, breakfast was fantastic, and the beach was fantastic. We'd be back here in a heartbeat and would recommend to any friends, family, or strangers visiting Puerto Vallarta.

I can’t say enough good things about Quinta Maria Cortez. It was the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The decor to the location are top tier. We stayed in the smallest room… the Jessica. They reached out to me before hand to warn me about the size but it was perfectly spacious for my partner and I. I imagine this means that their other rooms are nothing but incredible. The breakfast was amazing each morning and the staff is so accommodating, bringing margaritas and beer to the beach for you if requested. The general manager Sara is so lovely and stopped by each morning to chat with all the guests. I hope tp come back many more times because it is now one of my favorite places in the world.

Absolute magic!!! I am beyond thrilled with my stay and cannot wait to return. The staff and hotel were absolutely fantastic and they made my birthday just an incredible experience. Everything is SO well thought of: the decor, the privacy, the accommodations. More below: Location: There's a private beach in the back which is super cool. Before the tide rolls in at night you can take a hike to downtown or to the left to other beachy areas. It's also a short distance for Taxi/Uber, but not too long of a distance to be cumbersome. It's a tucked away location so it's really actually quite quiet and peaceful at night. If you want to be in the nightlife then I would consider a place down town, if you want to relax I'd look here. Rooms: Fantastic, unique decor in each and every room. This isn't a standard hotel, it's custom curated with all kinds of stylistic and thoughtful additions. Great art, great antique and custom furniture. We even had candles to keep mosquitos away. Cleaning: Spotless, flawless staff. They never missed a beat and we never lacked clean linens or towels. Food: Convenient, cozy breakfast daily provided in house. It was nice to remove one more meal to "think about" and was also super tasty. If you want a beachside snack I would recommend a bucket of beer and the guac. :) Staff: I cannot. CANNOT stress how nice everyone was. It comes from the top down, Sara has created a community here and she worked hard to bring together people that work well together to create a seamless experience. We had a fantastic check in and check out process and she created a system that fairly rewards all employees involved in your stay. Thank you Sara and Quinta Maria staff! (I'm honestly floored. This is literally non-sponsored I swear, I just want to share this fantastic location for whoever wants a little get away!)

We were in the Maximiliano suite, very top floor. The view is spectacular, but the room is very run down and has no a/c. The small room with a queen bed was A/C'd. Also from our room to the beach is 111 stairs...one way! No elevator. Not ideal for older folks. Beach is very rocky. It was a fun trip, but will not return to QMC.

Staying at the Quinta Maria was such a treat. The staff were attentive, the breakfast was delicious, and the views were wonderful. Everything about this quaint little hotel made our trip to Mexico so relaxing and enjoyable. My only complaint about the Rafael suite is there is no privacy when using the toilet. There are several bathrooms separate from the suites where you can use the restroom. Highly recommend and would stay again!

My husband and I stayed at the Quinta Maria Cortez and it was the best decision. The stay was absolutely perfect. The architecture alone speaks to you. The ocean view room was amazing. The staff was the best. We will definitely stay again.

We stayed for a week in the Maximilian suite. Our experience was exemplary. The staff are warm, friendly, and attentive, and the location is beautiful. You can easily get a cheap taxi or Uber to the Zona Romantica. Walking takes about 20 mins. The place itself is charming, with an old world feel. We will likely be back.

Wonderful! Alejandro suit is just like sleeping on a beach in most comfortable bed! Also no AC which was a huge plus as you have nice ocean breeze!

Second time here. Love this place and the staff is amazing. In Conchas Chinas so south of town, but an easy 20 minute walk up the beach to get to the thick of it. Alejandro-the rooms are named after people-is my favorite room with a huge bathroom and fun outdoor kitchen. All room are quirky in their own way and all offer an unparalleled view of the ocean. Such a little gem this place is. Do yourself a favor and save yourself and try a Quinta like this—you won’t be disappointed!
