Gorgeous place to relax and hike through a botanical jungle. Bring hiking shoes and bug spray (they sell bug spray at the front desk too.) Also pay attention to the maps, my husband and I did all of the small trails but missed the two larger trails because we didn't. There's two restaurants, we went to the bigger one above the gift shop and the view was amazing (pictured below.) The food was delicious. I will be coming back for sure.

I highly recommend a visit to the Vallarta Botanical Garden. We took the bus from Vallarta to the botanical Garden, which was very easy and enjoyable. It is one of the most beautiful and experience I've ever had. The flowers, the birds and all its beauty. This is my second time visiting the garden and always has so much to offer. There are nice trails to walk on and lots of trees and beautiful views. There is also a river you can hike down to as well. The surrounding area of the garden is very relaxing and calming. You get to see nature at its best and enjoy the birds chirp. There is also pieces of art displayed all over the gardens, there is also a gift shop and restaurant. We ate at the restaurant and had some drinks. Everything was amazingly delicious and great service, and Mariachis! Give it a try you will be so happy that you did.

I really liked the botanical garden because of the location where it was set up, the beautiful restaurant where we were accompanied by humming Birds and the different trails and the river. It also had a cool explanation of the origins of chocolate and vanilla in mexico. Highly Recommend

One of the best botanical garden experiences I’ve ever had. Gorgeous gardens, the options for more difficult trails to hike, including down to the river, a great restaurant with a stunning view, great service and fun menu with a little something for everyone and this place is well worth the trip! Plan to spend the entire day, you can take an Uber or Taxi down and once there at the gift shop you can schedule a taxi for pick up at a chosen time.

My wife and I had a good time visiting the Vallarta Bontanical Gardens. Visiting in October may not be the best month to go unless you enjoy the high heat and humidity. It's also the tail end of the rainy season. The area was very green and I was hoping for more variety of colorful plants. There are great hiking trails and will tire you out with various elevation. The restaurant on site was 5 stars! The food and ambiance provided a positive emotional sensation. The view is relaxing while fun with hummingbirds hovering around. Restrooms are also located nearby on the ground floor.

Manicured jungle is the best way to describe it. I wish I could have stayed longer! They have so much to explore, the main gardens, the greenhouses, and expansive trails including a vanilla plantation, small waterfall, and river access for swimming. They have a bar and restaurant, the bar tenders are exceptionally kind, the complementary hibiscus tea is delicious, and the cold towels were just what I needed on this hot day. Be sure to bring bug spray! Be prepared for a lot of stairs, a LOT.

The gardens are beautiful with many of the plants marked for reference. There are several walking paths throughout the gardens and there are several located off the central beat. While there is a map you can scan or take a photo of... I wish the paths would have been defined with signage pointing you in the right direction. Trying to read a map based on a picture I took with my phone proved challenging. There are many butterfly species through the gardens and I did see a chart on my walk to help id the different varieties you may see. We were told that they had a hummingbird area where you could purchase hand feeders and they would come to you to drink the nectar. We went ahead and purchased the feeders and were told to go upstairs to the restaurant where the staff would fill the feeder for us. Once we got to the restaurant we were told that there were too many people and the hummingbirds were only active early morning or late afternoon. I just wish I would have known this before buying the little feeder. Even though we went in November it was hot and humid so bring or buy plenty of water to keep hydrated. I did take the walk down to the river which was nice however due to recent storms parts of the trail looked like it was washed out and the water was running fast and muddy in the river. We did not eat upstairs at the restaurant but enjoyed a cool drink of hibiscus water on the lower level. The waiter even brought cool moist towels to wipe our faces which was a wonderful treat We came to the gardens as part of a tour so only had about 1.5 hrs here and didn't arrive until almost noon. My advice if you love plants and walking/hiking is to take a taxi and plan to arrive when the gardens first open which I think is 9am. There are several taxis waiting that can take you back when you are ready. Wear good shoes if you plan to hike some of the trails that aren't in the central garden area, bring a small backpack with water and snacks and some wet wipes and possibly a bandana. If you just want a short visit and to just walk the easy trails around the central garden area then it would probably be easiest to actually do a sponsored tour with a company.

Beautiful gardens, gorgeous pink chapel, restaurant/gift shop with a lovely swimming hole nearby. We went on a hot day in November and wondered around the gardens and through the mini vanilla plantation. I recommend the trail out the back of the main building through the jungle. Halfway on the trek we took a lovely dip in the cool water of the river to refresh ourselves so wear a suit and bring stream shoes. I recommend grabbing some blown glass hearts and some vanilla extract as souvenirs.

I had no idea that this botanical gardens was ranked fourth out of the top 10 in Central America. It was amazing. Hot and you need bug spray but breath taking. The river is cold and is at the back of the property. Beautiful pictures and plants. The food in the restaurant was really really good. The wait staff is fabulous. We will be back next month when it cools off for sure. Thanks for a great day.

Such a beautiful, tranquil place to be. As if Puerto Vallarta wasn't beautiful enough, then you see this...no hustle & bustle constantly. Just walk at your own pace and enjoy the beauty of which the Botanical Gardens is extremely full of, all natural beauty. I hope you enjoy my photos.

Highlight of our Puerto Vallarta visit! The gardens are beautifully maintained, and are densely planted with a wide variety of fragrant, colorful flowers. There's a shady suspended bridge trail to a brook when you need to cool off. Other highlights were the lavendar chapel and the painted tile memorial benches around the grounds. It's a haven for bird lovers too.

Best fish tacos tempura style in all of Puerto Vallarta. We came two times during our 12 day stay. So worth it if you love nature, good food, good service. It is so beautiful. Highlight of our trip definitely.

What a unique and fun day trip. Started out by having lunch in the restaurant which was amazing. The restaurant overlooks a gorge and the mouth of a beautiful waterfall. Spent the day exploring this magical place. Very beautiful! Admist the beautiful and lush plants and flowers there is a beautiful chapel, pet cemetery and a real cemetery. Everywhere you turn there is something surprising and unique. Definitely recommend!

Wonderful place to visit. This was the highlight of our trip. I highly recommend checking out these beautiful gardens and eating at their yummy restaurant. We took a private rental car and it was super easy to get here. I'd say don't bother with a tour company because you can very easily navigate this place and enjoy it's wonders yourself. It's 300 MXN at the door and give yourself 4-5 hours to check everything out.

The place is super awesome, so quite and serene. There is an interesting mix of plants in there, many in forms of pots which is a little different from most botanical gardens I’ve been to! The chapel is also very nicely decorated with floral designs and has a very inviting feel! There are a few maps on stands around the gardens, I think it is hard to get lost! There was some hurricane damage and restoration in progress when we were there as well! I’d say give it half a day to do it justice! Make sure to not skip on the restaurant! The restaurant was hands down one of the most relaxing restaurants I’ve been to! You will be greeted by cool towels that smell minty to get the heat out of your face, and a cool Jamaican tea, there was some one playing the violin going table to table and some one else playing an electric piano, mixes with nature’s music, good drinks and the views of the creek.. it is really hard to beat! The goft ship is also there under the restaurant! Be ready for a no-cell-reception possibility. Most the walking is rather easy but there is ups and downs .. quite a few stairs too!

We have heard about the Gardens for years, but have not taken the time to visit. Beautiful property, very well maintained. Varieties are gorgeous. The hike down to the river is beautiful. And definitely plan on eating at the restaurant, they go far above with their service and food.

The gardens have expanded substantially since their opening in apx 2004. They now conserve species of orchids and vanilla, and are aiming for expansion again. The restaurant is expensive but is also a fine dining experience. Natural paradise very close to the city. You can spend a full day here.

Visited in April and were very impressed! Not only were the grounds beautiful but we were also able to swim in the river and have some drinks (and eventually food) at the bar because it was just so nice up there. Unlike some other attractions geared to tourists, the gardens and the restaurant were not a hassle or ripoff. Great gift shop with local wares as well. The bartender said June was the peak season for verdancy but we were quite happy with the gardens in April.

Visited the botanical gardens during my trip there. Took an Uber there, ride was pretty scenic along the way, nice to see all the cliff side properties along the water. The garden had a few dogs roaming around, maybe they belong to the staff, they were super cute and friendly. It was really nice to see the variety of plants in the area. There were also hiking trails, one of the trails led to a quiet river that you could swim in, the water was calm and clear. We had lunch at the garden, the view was gorgeous, there was a hummingbird that came to visit the bird feeder throughout our meal, it was so cute. Food was delicious and service was great. The food is more westernized and on the pricier side since this is a tourist attraction. Unfortunately there’s no service in the area to call an Uber back, so your options are to get the place to order you a taxi or take the bus directly across the street. The bus comes every 30 minutes, sometimes it is a few minutes late. The bus is a bit cramped since there’s not a lot of leg room but it is a lot more affordable than taking a taxi back to the city. The bus back to the city is 50 pesos per person.

This place was so beautiful. There's a lot to see in the gardens. The pathways are pretty clear and accessible. Be sure to bring your sunscreen, bathing suit, and bug spray. Getting down to the river isn't bad but quite a few stairs. The restaurant and gift shop were great too!

Lovely hikes and beautiful gardens. Bring your bathing suit to swim in the river. Hike down to the river by the Jaguar Trail if you want to work up a sweat first. We went in November and although there were some bugs it was not too bad. Swimming in the river was amazing.

This is such a majestic place. We enjoyed every step. Starting the visit off with breakfast in the tea was the highlight. Fresh and delicious and reasonably priced. The view spectacular and the live violinist was a treat. On a hot day you must make the hike down to the river. So refreshing. The native plants were so beautiful and there was something interesting around every bush. Can’t believe I’ve made over a dozen visits to PV but only now made a visit to these gardens. A must visit!

Such a beautiful garden. I loved seeing all the plants, trees, flowers, butterflies, and hummingbirds! The refreshing drinks and snack we had after was marvelous-- they even gave us cold cloths to refresh our hot sweaty faces.

Magical. From the bucolic scenes to the hummingbird havens, our visit was simply luxurious. And the on-site restaurant has really excellent food and service. Spend some time here and you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful trek through curated gardens and natural jungle. Bring water! The staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Everyone in our group enjoyed the restaurant too.

This is a must visit when in the area. The grounds are amazing, there are lots of hiking trails if you choose. If you are not a hiker there is still plenty of amazing things to see and do. Definitely plan to visit the restaurant when you go. Food, drinks and service were 10/10. Our kids ages 10 and 7 enjoyed this as well.

Such a great place to just relax and explore. Bring comfortable walking shoes and an extra battery for your phone or camera. Gorgeous views from every path. I loved the tortoise. Make sure to check out the incredible art installation inside the chapel. The river is great but it's a bit of a hike to get to. You could spend days and not see everything. Make sure to visit the museum above the gift shop.

It is strikingly beautiful.. and I have done my share of traveling... It is absolutely unbelievably beautiful! The trails are not difficult if you take your time. I don't think it's wheelchair accessible. If it is it's only in a limited area. Many of them are wide enough for people to pass each other and there are handrails in the places that handrails need to be.

  • 5/5 Lorena C. 1 year ago on Google
If you like to walk, plants, beautiful views, hummingbirds and good vibes, this is your place! Everywhere you look, is just amazing. The chapel and the restaurant are lovely and the food is really good. The jamaica water with a bunganvilia flower on it is the best way to refresh your body and soul. It is a must-see that enriches all the senses

  • 5/5 Aurora S. 1 year ago on Google
So many stairs, but amazing location. Just wandering the area near the restaurant is awesome. There are so many plants, birds and insects that are different from other areas of the world. If you are interested, you can bring a swimsuit and towel to swim in the river. When we went, the river current did not seem too strong. So, swimming and splashing around is doable. Make sure you bring bug spray because there are “noseeums” that will eat you alive. If you forget, you can buy some at the gift shop. The gift shop also has a lot of great inexpensive souvenirs. The restaurant has a good selection of food and even has vegan options. Plus the vanilla ice cream is delicious.

Beautiful gardens at Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Four of us took the bus tour there - highly recommend it!! Mario was our tour guide - he is very knowledgeable about Mexico's history, culture, wildlife, and many other facts . . . and he was fun to be with on the tour!

Beautiful gardens with birds, butterflies, hummingbirds, and hundreds of species of plant and flowers. This land was acquired in 2004 and the time since has been used to very carefully build walking trails and fauna.

  • 5/5 Daniel H. 2 years ago on Google
This garden was amazing! The plants were huge and colorful and gorgeous! Week maintained paths, a short jaunt down to a gorgeous river and a nice relaxing siege overlooking a gorgeous view. Totally worth the trip out here!

  • 3/5 Rachel Marie W. 2 years ago on Google
They’ve made an effort to have a few nice displays when you enter including a cute little pink chapel if you want to book a wedding. Most of the garden is trails in the jungle and not very well kept in some areas. There’s a river you can hike to and a small waterfall. So it’s mostly wild jungle with a small section of flowers displays. Still worth a visit.
