Some of the best food I had, also the most affordable. Pretty good service and a light show in the water. This will be my go to for dinner.

During our first night in vidanta, we decided to dine at The Cantina, due to the only restaurant in the compound that was showing the world series game. We ordered a ceviche tostada which was listed as a main course menu item but was definitely a $15 dollar, 4 inch diameter appetizers which sat solely on its 16 inch plate. We also ordered the shrimp which came in its skin and a mole sauce accompanied by what appeared to be a precisely measured ounce of spanish rice. I didn't get 6 shrimp or an even dozen, I got seven. How do they determine what the appropriate number of shrimp they serve only God knows. We had a mixed drink and two beers and by the time our check came we had spent nearly one hundred dollars. A tip to all vidanta guests. Get a taxi and have them take you downtown where you can have a much better meal for less money. Oh if you take a look at the compounds menu listing, apparently The Cantina one of the least expensive dining establishments within the fortified fence lines.

This place is loud an obnoxious. I ordered chicken fajitas. I had just made chicken fajitas for myself 2 nights prior to coming here and they were amazing. This restaurant served the most bland chicken fajitas I have ever had in my life. The service is also terrible. I would have ordered more drinks, but no one came by my table and I was too tired to beg after traveling all day. Terrible introduction to this resort. This is not luxury. This is not even good food.

Great location for watching sports. They even put up 2 projects along with the many tv. Good was good. Only complaint is the Gorditas...maybe hold off on those. But everything else is good and the service is amazing

The enchiladas are very different and extrememly diversely flavored and WONDERFUL. Great atmosphere and service. The bar area has spinning western saddle seats that are fun.

Chicken fajita is really good and better than the beef fajita in my opinion. The ceviche is also pretty good. Great chips and salsa. Great view and atmosphere

Food is okay. There’s so much amazing Mexican food in Mexico, this doesn’t meet that bar. The shrimp tacos had a ton of batter, were chewy and the flavor was just okay. The fish tacos also had a lot of batter although they were flakier. The fajitas were good but not outstanding. The chips are dense. The salsas are very good as is the guac. We’ve eaten at La Cantina twice. The first was a late lunch and it was almost empty, and it took forever for service to come. The second time was on a busy Sunday night and the service was excellent. It’s very loud- sports bar meets cantina. Great place for kids- young and older. But for really great Mexican food head to Pipi’s or Titi’s in town.

Food is good but nothing simple just what I call gourmet dishes with more vegetables than meat.

Great cantina to watch American sports and excellent Mexican food. Salsa tray is a nice touch. Shrimp fajitas were fresh and cooked perfectly.

The ambiance is really nice. Only problem was that it was too dark to see the menus. We had to use our cell phone flashlight. We sat outdoors on the patio for the water show. The shows go on every 20 mins and are pretty cool. The service here is not so great. After 20 mins seated we have to flag down a waiter to order. He told us we had to wait for our waiter and that he'd get him. Few minutes later he arrived and we ordered. We got the cerviche and lobster tacos. The lobster tacos were nice but the lobster was a overcooked. It came with hand made tortillas. The cerviche was so salty that we couldn't finish it. We told the waiter but he just said oh and cleared the plate. If not for the show this would probably be a 2* review. I would say this was the worst restaurant we tried while at Vidanta. Ola Mulata and Blue Fish were much better places to eat in my opinion

Alberto was a fabulous and attentive waiter. We had been to Tremonto and Gong. This was by far our favorite, fun environment, music and sports. Fajitas, quesadillas and be sure to get Mexican fried rice!

Very good Mexican food, not Americanized Mexican food. Service is good too. Took a long time for the food to come out, they were very busy, but the wait was worth it.

We got the Enmoladas de Pollo and the Nachos along with 2 Red Fruits. There was complementary chips and dip at 3 different spice levels. I have to say the mole sauce on the enmoladas blew every experience eating Mexican in Massachusetts out of the water. The sauce was so RICH. It was an experience by itself just to taste the sauce. On top of that the atmosphere was very lively and the staff were great. There was a bit of a wait because of how crowded it was without a reservation but it was worth it.

Decent food. The fish tacos and margaritas are tasty. The place is cozy and the ambience ok. The service is very slow. We had to ask for the menus and the check many times. Not too overpriced.

The place is surrounded by beautiful trees and fountains. The restaurant offers great outdoor n indoor sitting. Great decor, everything we ordered was delicious. I especially enjoyed all the salsas they offer. Great Margaritas too

Just OK. Not many shrimp in shrimp fajitas. Ordered 2 taco soup and they came out with dinner and were cold. They did bring out one hot soup in the middle of the meal. Not wheelchair accessible to outdoor levels. My grandson had to bring the wheelchair up the stairs because no one else working there offered to do it.

Scenery near the restaurant is nice though. Had been here on arrival though, staff seemed in a rush to shuttle me along, good churros.

Very good salsa and chips, followed by an excellent burrito. Friends had the pork belly tacos as well as fajitas and they were good as well. 5th friend ordered cheese quesadilla and they gave her chicken instead. Took quite some time to get our food but it was worth the wait. Would recommend.

👍👍 This is an amazing spot for seafood. Incredible service with large portions. The pineapple sauce was mind blowing together with the coconut shrimp. Huge drinks, free shots and shrimp broth was the icing on the cake. Our server, Alonso was a class act hailing a taxi for us as well.
