The museum is since more than a year closed. It should be renovated but no workers in sight. Soon reopening unsure. (reported 10/2016)

Beautiful space with free entry dedicated to the study of the origins and culture of the first people on the island. Some of the displays were very unique and could use more clarification for a layperson like me (and sometimes some dating). We felt very welcome.

Best museum in Fuerteventura, great exposition with complete history of the island inhabitants. Free entrance, located in the former capital of the islands. Twisty and narrow road but the effort pays off.

Very friendly staff and the entrance is for free. I really recommend this museum if you visit Betancuria. It's a good chance to learn about the history and ancient culture of Fuerteventura and las Canarias.

Visited today (10th Sept) absolutely amazing. Staff were extremely helpful, very professional, and informative. The place was full of history and artifacts. Exceptionally clean, you walk around at your own pace, and not rushed. Loved every minute of our visit. A great way to end our day in Betancuria. I would highly recommend visiting if you holiday in fureteventura. And just a little note..... entrance to the museum is free 😁😁😁😁

Very nice museum, the architecture is modern style and the story inside of it is very interesting and fascinating. Suggested for a quick cultural stop!

Definitely worth a visit, free entry (and toilets!), Takes about 30 mins to view, lots of information about the original inhabitants and artifacts.

Interesting displays as the main site for archeological finds on the island. The first floor was closed but the building itself was wonderful and airy with a great view over the town.

We spent a half hour enjoying the displays, unfortunately the lift was out of order as I am disabled I could not go upstairs

As I walked between the displays, yearning to know more about the aboriginal inhabitants of Fuerteventura and more broadly, the Canary Islands themselves, I was overwhelmed by a sense of being told a curated version of a story buried by words like "mysterious" and "conflicting theories". I learned very little about the Mahoans at this museum. It wasn't until I left and I gave into this feeling and searched the internet, only to find a record of colonial genocide of the Mahoans being performed by the Spanish which is why there is so little to tell today in a modern museum space. It's my only hope that this tragic misstep in history be more openly and holistically shared, to encourage others learn from and to own their mistakes, show their remorse and not try to bury the truth with time and public money.
