Just astounding to think of all the people that have walked beneath this gate since its construction in 29BC. The monument commemorates a Roman military victory at Actium in 27BC, and pays tribute to a prominent local tribune named Lucius Sergius Lepidus. A good place to contemplate the brevity of our time is in this life. "For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children" Ps 103:14‭-‬17

Very interesting to see while walking through town! Fairly busy unfortunately, a lot of families with kids crawling on the base. Nice for a quick look as you walk through though!

We went on a walking tour with Stefano through Trip Advisor - highly recommended. He was very knowledgeable & easy going - we weren't rushed & learnt a lot on our walk even though it was 32 degrees! Fabulous sunset. Lovely city to visit.

It is an arch on the street - a historical monument that is open 24 hours every day. Lots of detailed work on the arch is still visible.

Very interesting and historical monument! For those who still wonder what the Roman Empire felt like, you should spend some minutes looking at it. Really inspiring and intriguing!

Loved the experience, it was almost trippy. The lovely arch surrounded by lots of tourists and kids and outdoor music was quite a contrast it almost threw me off! There's something almost magical about walking the same steps under the arch which people from the past used to tread. That experience was quite precious!

Interesting place in the centre of Pula. Ancient building. If you go through it, you will find on the street with many shops and restaurants.

2000 year old arch, one of the oldest arches of the Ancient Roman Empire. Even older than those you can see on Forum Romanum. Absolutely worth seeing

What a beautiful monument and archaeological and architectural gem. It's more or less well preserved and having a coffee with this as a scenery is just amazing.

A monument of old, still standing today. In a way it still serves as a gate, separating a more modern Pula from the rustic center filled with shops, stores and restaurants. The road leads straight towards the temple plaza and Arena.

Not sure impressive does it justice, but that's what it is. Pula is too. Well worth the visit we made there

Ok I have never understood the fascination with archways but this one everyone is taking pictures. Ok fair enough usually I don't Google and to fully understand the history.bi know totally lame of me. If it is fantastic I will Google. There are two angels on this arch one pointing it's arrow up and the other down. I always think everything is fake and made old. How could this thing stand all the wars and strife it has had. James Joyce school he taught is right there as you enter. That is cool history.

Super cool place to visit, with many shops, coffee shops and restaurants close by.In the evening you will hear musicians perform right under the Arch, people just chilling, having a good time.It can get crowded though.I recommend to visit any of the sweets and ice cream shops that are located on the street behind the Arch. Also, food is great in the restaurants near by.
