The youngest Croatian National Park, but for many the most beautiful one. It is located on the longest Croatian Mountain and has a lot of trails through nature to discover. The most famous one being Premužićeva trail, which is miracle of construction! Built 1930-1933 with no machinery help, it extends all the way through National Park and beyond, from Zavižan to Baške Oštarije (57 kilometers long!) In the National Park there is Restricted Nature Preserve called "Rožanski i Hajdučki kukovi", rocks with amazing beauty, which are accessible only through Premilužićeva trail. With a lot of peaks, rocks, valleys, huts and shelters it is paradise for hikers, climbers and mounteneers.

The park itself is beautiful, but the road to the park could be better. If you are coming there from the southeast via Krasno town, be ready for a gravel road with big rocks. We were not ready and our car was all covered in a thick layer of dust. The better and faster way is to go to Holiday House Oltari and turn from there to the park. The park has both simple and harder trails (to the Balinovac vrh for example). But I didn't see any signs indicating that, so be ready for some fun :)

Me and my boyfriend we drove there in the middle of October 2021, the view along the road was absolutely amazing, the mountain were fully coloured with yellow and red, we truly enjoyed it. Although the temperature was nearly 0 degrees, we still had a lot of fun.

Such a breath of fresh air after the crowds and queues of some other national parks in the region. We only had a short time to visit, but even just the views from near the car park are stunning. You can see many of Croatia's islands in the Adriatic. We bought our tickets at the House of Velebit, where they can tell you what the weather is like at the summit - very important as the weather can change in a moment. It was 33 degrees on the coast the day we went, and a very chilly 12 degrees and windy when we reached the top. The road up is rough and challenging, but we made it in a Toyota Yaris rental. It was dusty as hell afterwards. Nobody checked our tickets. A woman in a hut waved us through but I don't even know if she was checking tickets or telling us to keep moving!

Beautiful walks and nature. Totally worth the long, windy drive. You drive up to the station where you pay for your ticket on a paved road. However, the 7km further is a very primitive gravel road: very narrow with big stones and few guard rails. (See pictures) Bring a spare tire, but *do* go: it's worth the drive!

Beautiful National Park North Velebit. It is possible to reach Zavižan almost by a car since you can park really close to the top. We went there in October, while the weather was still good. But you should be careful to check the information about the wind since the weather is changing quickly up there. The view is magnificent, you can see the Adriatic sea and the surrounding islands. Worth of visiting again!

Stunning views. "Staza zviri" from the park entrance to Dom Zavižan was exceptionally beautiful.

Fantastic opportunity to visit the high country without having to climb too many hills. Fantastic views and the alpine botanic gardens are a wonderful place to see more of the alpine plants

Most beautiful mountain in Croatia, Premužić trail is out of this world experience. And, of course, best cold beer at Zavižan mountain hut...

Beautiful nature! Very peaceful and quiet place for hiking. Premužić trail like a highway trough mountain, very easy walk. Amazing views of Adriatic sea and islands.

Good for a nice walk. The mountain top Hut is not a restaurant but a mountain hut. You get drinks and can make your own food. Accommodation is also available. The last 7 kms after buying the ticket is the typical mountain road with stones here and there. Good experience going with kid.

Unrated NP, the views and hikes are really nice as part of a day trip. Not much information about the hikes on internet but I recommend you talk to the local rangers as they have maps or recommendations to help you plan your hike

An amazing and great place to relax. You can go directly to Zavizan and there choose easier or more difficult hiking trails or you can just chill on top of the mountain. Food in the mountain hut is not bad either ;) Great in combination with the visit to Kuca Velebita museum in Krasno. You can buy combined or individual tickets and they are not too pricey.

We didn't get that the entrance to the park is somewhere else than the info centre, but the person at the info there was really nice. Everything is organised nicely and the park is beautiful! It was 10 degrees colder than at the coast, and super windy, so bringing long clothes is a must. The road to the botanical garden is gravel.

The place is beautiful between the mountains. Very relaxing to walk around. The last 6 km to reach the parking is a rough road.

Beautiful nature and so peaceful. The House Velebit is worth visiting, not just for children.
