In a grandma’s yard one of the best restaurant I’ve ever tasted. From the first course to the amaro at the end. Welcoming and simple the atmosphere, perfect the owner, absolutely MAGIC the food. I wish all the best to this special place that has created a special memory.

What a wonderful experience! After checking all the comments about this restaurant, we had to make a reservation and see for ourselves. We ordered two dishes, and they split them in half for both of us, so that we could get to taste them both. Expectations were met, as we really enjoyed all the tasty combinations. Definitely a restaurant one simply has to visit, if he spends one or few days in Pula.

We ordered our own dishes, specifically tuna steak and risotto with cuttlefish, and they suggested making two plates from one dish so that we could both try both dishes without awkwardly swapping plates, which was excellent for me. The dishes were delicious, and the ingredients seemed to be of a higher price range. The waitress was extremely friendly and accommodating. The ambiance was very pleasant and comfortable. The prices were slightly higher than expected, but still a good value for the quality. The gin tonic dessert was very tasty, although the rosemary was slightly overpowering. Overall, it was a great experience. I recommend it.

A really nice find. Clean and contemporary interior. They have an excellent menu and food presentation is top notch. However my tuna was slightly over cooked. I still recommend as a place to stop for dinner.

You can probably find the best restaurant in Pula in a backyard! Fine dining in an Istrian family setting: authentic, local ingredients and wines, fine dining, personal and great service! Istria 2022!

Amazing food, amazing place with an amazing host and staff! If you want a perfect mediteranean (sea food) dinner with a modern twist I would definitely recommend. The service is one of the most welcoming I have experienced, and the food is made with love! Don't forget to reserve in advance. One of the best places I have eaten so far!

Luckily we called and made a booking because this little endearing place will surely always be full ! Peter was the most amazing host, spent time explaining us his concept, approach and menu selection. Places with minimal menu delivering the best ingredients and care simply rock if you’re a foody looking for a unique experience and local wines. Make sure to have a shot of sage rakija made by mom (with mom!) at the end of your dinner. Call a cab or walk home by the Roman colosseum ;)

So grateful that we got this restaurant tipped by locals. Really nice and thoughtful staff and the place was very cozy. They were almost closing when we came, but even that was no problem for them. The food was delicious and the fish was daily fresh. Definitely we will come back when we are in Pula. We would recommend everybody BACKYARD, just walk a little bit out of the center with all the touristic restaurants and find this place.

Our first night in Pula and maybe the best place for dinner. Only a few tables, very private atmosphere and really really good food! We loved to be there. We will come back for sure.

Delightfully cozy and charming restaurant with friendly hospitality and delicious food. I had grilled octopus and it was prepared beautifully. My partner had seafood of the day and it was equally enjoyable. The wine was also paired well and desserts were a treat! Strongly recommend.

I visit Backyard once a year, and the verdict always stays the same: the best intimate and local place in Pula for enjoying downright mouthwatering sea specialties and heavenly desserts. Petar and his team even went out of their way to split two main dishes and serve them like that. Love, love, love this restaurant.

This great restaurant is located only few steps behind Pula's amphitheater. Its a small yard inside buildings and it has its magic and individual character. Staff is very nice. And food is fantastic. Omelette and orange fresh were great. We were highly satisfied. If you travel to Pula definitely don't forget to visit this restaurant. Highly recommended. Peter & Lena.

We went here for late breakfast (scrambled eggs, mixed plate), which was amazing. Everything was very tasty, nicely presented, and portions were large enough. Coffee and cold drinks are included in the breakfast's price - would recommend elderflower cocktail. The staff is polite and friendly. The only downside is a bit higher price, but considering the quality, you will get your money's worth. We would come here again next time we're in Pula.

Wonderful meal and great wine. We had a fantastic lunch of delicious local tuna steak and garden greens paired nicely with a white wine. The very knowledgeable and friendly staff elevated the dining experience. Highly recommend this spot for a fine meal and drink.

I loved it in here, very affordable food at very high quality. If you like fish, eat here. You will not find better in Pula. Service wss great and it's mot far away from the Amphitheater. I returned the next day for breakfast, and this also was awesome.

Paulicarus used Dr Google to find " best breakfast options in Pula" and this came up. Added benefit of only being a 5 minute walk from where we are staying. Set on a quiet residential street the restaurant open courtyard was fairly busy but we were seated quickly. There is an inside room as well. Breakfast is a set 15€. Includes one hot and one cold drink to go with the meal. Norma and Liza both chose scrambled eggs. Later in the day it becomes a restaurant with prices to match. ( why is wine in Pula so much more than Rovinj?) Madge loved her elderflower cordial, Paulicarus apple juice. We got the coffee. Lovely eggs. Made by a chef who knows how to do it well. Well worth finding.

Best food we've had in Pula - the Risotto and the Octopus Salad were both excellent! My partner and I were sharing everything and they went out of their way to split every dish into two separate plates, much appreciated! Chill vibes, good wine. Slightly higher prices, but absolutely justifiedly so.

Pretty great brunch almost completely ruined by the wait and seating process. We were really looking forward to this place, and if it was just on the basis of the scrambled egg sandwich (highly recommended!) this place would be an easy five stars. Unfortunately, what was meant to be a nice brunch experience was ruined by an inexplicably long wait, when no one attended to us and eventually the staff allowed two groups of people to jump the line and sit themselves at our expense. After that, the staff (who are actually very friendly and want to be helpful) took a long time to bring us the menu, and once the food arrived after a long wait we still had to wait another five minutes before they gave us cutlery with which we could eat it, at which point our scrambled egg sandwich had gotten somewhat cold. Also, the fresh orange juice is much too diluted with water! This place will be an easy five once they take the service part a little bit more seriously.

Me and my girlfriend went there for my Birthday. The waitresses were really kind and welcoming and made sure we were at ease all the time. We sat at one of the outdoor tables that face the kitchen, so you can watch the chefs at work. The food was really good, everything felt fresh and cooked with passion. I recommend the Risotto, it's still stuck in my mind for how good it was. At the end of the dinner they offered us Schnaps for my Birthday, which ended It all with a flourish. Very well done, keep up the good work!

Amazing experience. The food is great, creative and freshly prepared. The menu is small, but delightful. Great selection of Istrian wines to go with your food. The staff is super friendly. The place is not pretentious. Well worth the money.

The only proper breakfast cafe in Pula. It’s has a really cute cosy vibe, and the service is very friendly. For 100kn you get one main dish, a coffee and a water/juice. The main dishes are a good portion and taste really good. The scrambled eggs in particular are really great, and so is the meat & cheese plate. Sometimes the service can take a bit long, but it’s Croatia so things take longer in general. Overall nice little place, we came here a few times

A really nice atmosfere, and really good and sophisticated food! The prices are a bit high, but its worth the quality of the food! -1 star because we were hurried to pay and go, because the next guest was arriving... We never knew our max stay, and apparantly only had 1,5 hours...

AMAZING! The best Octopus I had. We also asked for a vegan option when we booked a table. The vegan option Was really amazing! Best vegan dish my girlfriend had during our stay in croatia! Simply one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. I would recommend to follow the reco and definetly order 3 courses per person. It's a bit more expensive than other restaurants but it is definetly worth it! And also the service was incredibly friendly.

Good breakfast. Had some great eggs with pancetta for breakfast, I didn't like so much the bread so much so I left it to the side. The orange juice and coffee were also great. The breakfast deal is, one dish, one coffee and one drink for 100kuna, good price. And the place is beautiful.

BACKYARD is the hidden gem of Pula. The menu is fantastic with some exciting and innovative dishes created by the chef who really cares about his customers. The service is the best I’ve received in Croatia. If you’re in Pula you don’t want to miss out!
