Wow! Without a doubt the best tour we've ever done. Kissmart, Donga and Cheddaz provide a personal, unique, at times harrowing, and incredibly important insight into the incomparable city of Nairobi. We left inspired by the work of these gentleman, enacting positive change across the city they love. Don't think, book it now.

We were walking downtown Nairobi with Quick. The story of his youth is confronting and sad but with his job as tour guide his future has perspective on a stabile living. His positive look on life is truly inspiring. Me and my daughter of 9 had a great experience with him and I would recommend anyone with children to take this tour.

Based on the previous reviews, I knew this tour was a no brainer to start my Nairobi (and African) adventure. Mrembe was of course 5min early and made me feel at ease immediately. I gave him my list of personal tasks I needed help with that I was hopeful to accomplish over our 3 hours (SIM card, lunch at a local spot, $$ exchange) and he executed those with ease - best sim company, 5* meal at a very local lunch spot and the best exchange rate I have seen in Nairobi to date. On top off all that, the actual tour - uptown, downtown, and a few others that I would never had dared to walk on my own, but was awesome. Mrembe kept barters and others away from me and it was so interesting to see daily Nairobi life in these different parts of town. Above all, was getting a glimpse of Mrembe’s life, on the streets from 6 to 18, and able to turn his life around - Hollywood could make a blockbuster movie out of his story. You won’t go wrong with Nai Nami Tours!!

Amazing tour in the slums of Nairobi with the fruendliest local guides who grew up as street kids and know many locals. The energy and joyfullness of the people are both fantastic.

Very interesting to see the non-touristy side of Nairobi. A fascinating relaxed tour with really nice and genuine guides who take their time to answer questions. Definitely should be on every visitor’s itinerary.

Probably the best thing to do in Nairobi. I had a great time and it was a fascinating experience. I always felt safe and welcomed. I recommend this to everyone in Nairobi! Thanks a lot!

This is a very interesting approach and something I've never done before. We were shown around a few of the grittier parts of Nairobi and the team at Nai Nami really made the effort to make us feel safe and secure among the hustle and bustle. It's quite amazing to hear the stories and backgrounds, and to see the places where they came from or spent a lot of their childhood lives. We were guided by Priest who was really nice, but told many of the same stories on repeat. Would have been nice to balance these stories with some more context of Nairobi, history ( even if very recent), the social/cultural landscape, political issues and what's being done or not to try to improve the situation.

Cannot agree more with all the 5 star ratings of this 3h walking tour of downtown Nairobi. We were with Priest and Typhoon, felt safe at all times and it was so interesting to see a part of central Nairobi that you wouldn't usually venture to. The guys are excellent storytellers, guides and give you a real impression of what their life was like as street children navigating these streets. Highly recommend!

This was one of the most unforgettable tours I've ever done in my life. Listening to the story of King almost made me cry. They are so good at sharing their stories and showing you a side of Nairobi that tourists don't often get to see. If you want to do something that helps people of Nairobi, do this tour!

It was a very unique experience to have a tour through Nairobi and learn about the stories of the tour guides, how they grew up in the streets. Totally recommended. The guys are very open, friendly and securely lead you through Nairobi.

Brilliant tour, allows access to parts of Nairobi most tourists will never see. We went as two adults with our 15 year old son. The guides are great fun, and know the area and people intimately. We felt very safe and well treated. Downtown Nairobi is a jamboree of sights, sounds and smells and unlike anything we've ever experienced. It was an amazing few hours and along with all the hope and positive outcomes of this social enterprise we would thoroughly recommend.

I like many tourists came to Africa to see the wildlife. Once you are here the lions and leopards seem less frightening than engaging with a culture that is so foreign to the world we have previously experienced. It may be tempting to visit another wildlife experience but this is the experience that will change you. You will have many opportunities to see the wildlife you will only have one opportunity to met the real world of Nairobi. We all want to know more about the city. This is a safe and fascinating way to learn about Nairobi through the words of someone who has lived here all their life. My guide Typhoon was to generous with his time and in sharing his story. He gave me the courage to step into a world that is completely foreign to me and allowed me to understand just how blessed I am. Frankly this tour should be your priority when you visit Nairobi.

We have had the amazing tour with Nai Nami last year in September 2022. Its absolutely the best tour we experienced in our life. Nami is an inspirational storytelling tour in the heart of Downtown Nairobi and Mathare (the VIP tour). They share their captivating life stories in which you will get to know how they ended up on the streets, how they survived, and how they were able to transcend their fate and become successful young adults. Special thanks to Ndee, Mrembe, Morasta, Qwi Qwi, Donga and Kissmart. You guys are amazing and an inspiration for others.

I would like to thank our guides for this very interesting tour around Nairobi's downtown area. The storys and insights were very interesting and I felt safe at all times. I had a great time and would highly recommend this to anyone looking for an authentic experience around Nairobi.

Without a doubt one of the best travel experiences of my life. Such a warm, generous and wise crew. Inspiring stories and incredible insight into real Nairobi. Special thanks to our personal guide Quick and also to Tsunami, King, Cheddar cheese, Godfrey and Priest.

My wife and I took this tour in September 2023. The guides are really wonderful and the tour itself is a fascinating glimpse into everyday life in Nairobi. We felt safe the entire time and really enjoyed getting to see a side of Kenya/Nairobi that we perhaps could not have seen on our own.

Can really recommend! I went to Mombasa because of the Visa run and saw this tour in Google. So I decided to go to Nairobi for a couple of days. It was definitely a lifetime experience and absolutely worth it. You see the streets of Nairobi through the eyes of a child These young men can be so proud of the project they build up together Asante sana

Brilliant. Deeply moving. The best city tour I have ever been on, anywhere in the world. It's a wonderful concept and legitimately geared towards helping street kids and former street kids have a real future. The organisers and guides are fantastic guys, each of whom grew up on these brutally hard streets themselves, and they will show you, through their eyes, locations and aspects of Nairobi that there is no way you could see or experience without them. Put simply, don't go to Nairobi without doing this tour.

Worth your time and money, the boys share their stories with you (which are really impressive) and they show you around a part of Nairobi you normally wouldn't visit. Do the tour!!!

  • 5/5 Rya G. K. 5 years ago on Google
The idea behind this is pure genius. It's especially impressive because simple solutions and concepts are easy to miss, but Gian has taken the simple, and made it exemplary! The fusion between tours and street-smarts is so practical and fun!

Nainami is just an amazeing company who offers the best tours ever made. Thanks guys for the great experience

You meet many former street boys. They take you through their Nairobi. They are eloquent and give you all kinds of important insight into the kind of duress that is the burden of the miserably poor. They are bubbly, hopeful, thoughtful men and it was both a delight and a pleasure to spend an afternoon with them. We loved this experience.

They do great work in the local community and can take you on an eye opening tour of Nairobi.

Wow Wow Wow!! I did this tour first in Nairobi and had the amazing Typhoon as my guide - such a special experience and memory from my trip to Kenya. And now, I learned they do a virtual storytelling tour (Due to Covid-19 Lockdown) so signed up to do it online. This time my guide was Donga - Such amazing to listen and learn about living on the streets - Absolutely inspiration stories & so impressive to see how a 2nd chance can create so much good in the world! YOU MUST DO THIS TOUR!!!

Truly a must when visiting Nairobi. The stories of the street boys is incredible to hear and see how residents live/survive in impoverished areas. Very humbling experience. Also as a solo female traveler I always felt safe and looked after by my guide. HIGHLY HIGHLY recommended.

Amazing experience with our new Nairobi-an friends. I didn’t want to tell my wife that we’d be doing a walking tour of a sketchy area with former muggers! She figured it out 20 minutes into the tour but she loved every second of it. What a great time learning more about life on the streets and seeing places you might not want to go alone. Thank you guys for giving us a glimpse into your lives! Recommend this to anyone who wants to see real life Nairobi!

  • 5/5 Maartje K. 1 year ago on Google
Had a great tour in downtown Nairobi with the boys. Amazing to hear about their stories and background, especially while walking around areas in Nairobi where there people struggling as they used to do. Respect for the way they managed to changed their way of living.

Thank you Nai Nami for showing us the reality of life in the streets in Nairobi.. A unique and inspiring project that you’ve created. I completely agree with all the other 5 star reviews on Google, Trip Advisor and other sites. Really cool ! I was just a bit disappointed to not be able stay a little longer and chat with guys ! Cheers especially to King & Typhoon ! We wish you all the best and hope that the project will continue to grow and inspire others. Samuel & Francesca ✊🏼
