I was struck by its calm and peaceful atmosphere. The temple exudes a positive vibe that is both relaxing and rejuvenating. One of the great things about this temple is that it is less crowded in the evening, which makes it easier to appreciate its beauty and tranquility. Additionally, there was ample parking available.

Haripad Sree Subrmanya Swami temple is Located at Haripad in Alappuzha district, Sree Subrahmanya Swamy temple is one of the oldest temples in Kerala, which is known as the South Palani (Thekkan Palani) is enriched with the existence of the almighty Velayudha Swami who is merciful and a protector. It is believed that the idol has been used by Parasurama for Poojas. Sage Parashuram left the idol in Kandanalloor in Govindamuttom Backwaters. All the landlords of Eakachakra (the then Haripad) had vision regarding the idol and they recovered it from the backwater. The presiding deity of the temple is Murugan in four armed form with Vel in one hand, Vajrayudha in another hand one hand bestowing blessing and the other toughing its thighs. The idol is about eight feet in height. The idol is believed to have presence of Vishnu, Shiva and Brahma. The idol faces east. Beside the main deity there are many other deities which include Dakshina Moorthy, Lord Ganesh, Thiruvambadi Kannan, Naga, Shasta, Keezhtyar Kovil Subrahmanyan.

The Sree Subrahmanya Swamy Temple (Perumthrikkovil), also known as Kerala Palani or Dakshina Palani (lit. 'Southern Palani'), in Haripad, Kerala, is one of the oldest and largest temples in the region. According to belief, the temple predates the beginning of Kali Yuga. This temple holds the distinction of being the largest Subrahmanya Swami Temple in Kerala, and features the longest golden flagpost, known as the dhwajastambha (kodimaram in Malayalam). The temple's main deity is believed to embody not only Subrahmanya Swamy but also Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, making it a highly revered and powerful place of worship. Legend has it that the idol of the temple was previously used by Parasurama for pooja and was later discovered in the Govindamuttom backwaters of Kandanalloor. It is said that all the landlords of Eakachakra (then Haripad) simultaneously had visions of the idol, leading them to find it in Kayamkulam Lake. The idol was brought ashore at Nelpurakadavu. To commemorate its retrieval, the Vigraha Labdhi Jalolsavam festival is conducted in the Payippad River for three days after Thiruvonam. According to legend, the idol was temporarily placed for public viewing for half an hour under a banyan tree belonging to a Christian family, Tharakanmar. There is a small temple at that location known as "Ara Nazhika Ambalam". The temple was consecrated on the Pushya nakshtra (constellation) of Makara Masa, which is annually celebrated as the founding day of the temple. It is believed that Lord Vishnu appeared as a saint to consecrate the temple, which led to the name "Harigeethapuram" for the present-day Haripad. In the Malayalam year 1096, the temple suffered a fire, but the golden flag mast and the Koothambalam were fortunately saved. During the reign of King Sree Chithira Thirunal Rama Varma, the temple was rebuilt, and the golden flag mast was reinstalled. The presiding deity of the temple is Karthikeya in his four-armed form. The idol holds the divine spear Vel in one hand and a Vajrayudha (thunderbolt) in another, with one hand bestowing blessings and the other touching its thighs. According to belief, the idol embodies the presence of Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma. The idol stands at approximately six feet in height and faces towards the east.

This temple is dedicated to lord Subramanya Swamy. It is very near to the Mannarsala Nagarjuna temple. Though the temple is small compared to other famous temples in Alleppy region, it is very beautiful and worth visiting.

The temple was rebuilt during the reign of King Sree Chithira Thirunal Rama Varma and the golden flag mast was re-installed.It has a golden flag mast on eastern side. The temple's sanctum sanctorum is round in shape. The temple compound also hosts a Koothambalam (the third largest of its kind among Kerala temples). Peacocks, Murugan's vahana, are protected and housed in the temple premises. The temple pond, popularly known as Perumkulam is one of the largest temple ponds in Kerala, stretching over about five acres. The unique feature of this temple is that having 3 kodiyettu (hoisting dhvaja on dhvaja stambha) utsavas in a calendar year. Another specialty is that these festivals are observed on the basis of Tamil calendar. The Avani Utsavam in Chingom, Markazhi Utsavam in Dhanu, Chithira Utsavam in Medom form the Utsava Trayam. In these three utsavas, three bhavas are attributed to the deity such as Lord Vishnu in Avani, as Lord Shiva in Markazhi, as Lord Subrahmanya himself in Chithira. Therefore, Chithira Thiruvulsavam, the annual festival, is the most important here. Thrikkarthika in Vrischikam, Prathishta day in Idavam, Skanda Ashthami in Thulam, Navarathri in Kanni and Thaipooyam in Makaram are some of the other important festivals of the Haripad Temple

Really we loved this ancient subramanya swamy temple. Massive praharam as well the moolagraha. Main deity subramanya idol is almost 6 ft Height but placed on elevated steps, so if you want to worship from outside, you have to bend or almost kneel down to see the idol. Yesterday was aarattu festival for the god and we were blessed to see the good taking holy bath. Temple timings are between 5 to 12 noon and 5 to 8 pm. You love the peace and serenity when the temple is not crowded. Temple is very near to Haripad railway station.

You can see the unity of people at time of Thaipooyam Utsavam .It's famous for the longest golden flag post or Kodimaram (dhwajastambha) and one of the largest temple ponds called Perumkulam that stretches over 5 acres.. The road approaching to the temple is very narrow. The temple is near to one of the other famous temple know as Mannarassala Naga Raja Temple.

Unusual portrayal of Lord Subrahmanya, he seems be on his proverbial hillock even inside the sanctum. Notably tall flagstaff or Dhwajastambham - கொடிமரம். Blessed indeed to be able to visit here.

Among the most prominent Muruga Temples in Kerala. Located at the heart of Haripad town, this temple is on the way to Mannarassala Nagaraja Temple. The temple spans over 10 acres and is built in typical keralite architecture. Along with subramanya, other deities include Ganesha, Krishna and Ayyappa and Nagas. The temple Pond is also big. A small Hanuman temple is also present just outside the temple complex. Parking space can be a bit squeezy as there isn't much available. Devotees going to Mannarassala must definitely stop by this temple also.

This beautiful temple is surprisingly less well known than the famous Ambalapuzha Shree Krishna temple in the vicinity. I would encourage all visiting the Krishna temple to also visit this place of worship also. The place gives a very devotional vibe and the ambience and temple is well maintained. There is a Hanuman temple at walkable distance from this place which is also a nice place to visit.
