I simply loved this museum! Make sure you take minimum 2 hours to explore everything. I wish I had extra time to enjoy a cup of tea at their nicely decorated café. Well, next time! You'll learn a lot about the history of the traditional clothing, see some local art (paintings)+ photos of old Oman. You'll also see how a traditional house looks like. The place is not too crowded. You can pay both cash and card.

When you are strapped for time and still want to get the essence of the whole Sultanate of Oman, this highly curated Bait Al Zubair museum offers you just the right avenue to experience it all. There is so much to see and soak in, so make some good amount of time and you are sure to be transported like in a time machine and you will most certainly leave with a glowing smile on your face. 5 ***** stars...!

Very impressive for a private museum and totally in tune with Oman's humble, simple way of life. Personally I'm not really an art lover so I always skipped this and only visited it towards the end but I did enjoy all the collections on display especially the photography exhibition of Syria. In some areas pictures are not allowed but there's plenty of other stuff in there that doesn't mind a camera click at all. Unlike many museums and govt buildings in Muscat that close around 2pm, this being a private remains open till 6pm which is a very good thing because that means its never crowded.

Traditional palace and halls , if your are interested in heritage and ancient cultures of the Sultanate of Oman then you can spend one hour or more inside and see some antiques , national costumes of Omanis men and women , maps and take a rest meanwhile enjoying 😉 your coffee ☕️ and 🥞 or brownie 🍪 in the cafe right there . My visit 📆 was on October 2018 .

A good introduction to Oman history in a manageable sized museum and for foreigners it's a better price than the National Museum. Photo gallery and other personal collections too.

Located next to the National Museum of Oman, this museum showcases the private collection of Muscat's Al Zubair family. The collection consists of specially selected, inherited or donated pieces spanning a number of centuries and regions that reflect Oman’s rich cultural heritage and unique identity. The artifacts include traditional Omani weaponry, jewelery, costumes, household utensils, furniture, coins, stamps and musical instruments. The colorful oryx in the garden surrounding the museum building are interesting. It was so hot and sunny 46 deg day when visited but it well worth it.

This is an Omani cultural heritage museum that is well maintained and very specific. You can buy tickets at the entrance, and walk through this place. 30-60 minutes is good time to spend here, and it is not usually crowded. There is a cafeteria outside for some quick snacks and drinks, and restrooms are available. They accept payment by card or cash.

Well maintained private museum in Oman, you will get to know a lot about the Omani culture when you visit here, place is very clean and well organised. Ticket price is 3.2 OMR. There is also a cafe and restaurant in the museum premise. Staff is really friendly. When I went place was really empty with just few other tourists.

Bait Al-Zubair is a private museum located in old Muscat city and contains relics from Oman’s military, social, and cultural past. It opened its doors to the public in 1998 and is founded and funded by the Zubair family. The family’s extensive collection of Omani artefacts such as weapons, khanjars, jewellery, household items and costumes are considered to be the finest privately owned collection that offers an insight into Arab and Omani heritage. The Bait Al Zubair complex is an architectural icon. It consists of 5 buildings (Bait Al Bagh, Bait Al Dalaleel, Bait Al Oud, Bait Al Nahdhah and Gallery Sarah) and a garden, as well as a café and a gift shop. It has four floors of an ever-growing permanent art collection and is considered to be the most extensive art collection by Omani artists. Bait al Dalaleel allows you to see how Omanis lived in rural and urban Oman over 100 years ago. Gallery Sarah is one of Oman’s houses of contemporary art and even allows local Omani artists to sell their artwork abroad. The gallery also doubles-up as a meeting place for artists. From the gift shop, you can choose from a hand-picked selection of handicrafts, books, postcards, jewellery, clothing, and much more. Head to the garden to see the barasti (traditional hut made of palm fronds), frankincense trees, and local herbs. There is also a model of a traditional Omani village which shows the Aflaj irrigation system used in Oman.

Perfect location to learn about Oman traditions and culture. Many halls within the meseum showcasing different aspects. One of the halls is a real time traditional Omani house fully furnished as it was in the past. Receptionist gave us discounted tickets because we reached at 4:30 and place closes at 5:30 😅

To make it short: If you come to visit Oman, this place ist a must-go, espacially when you're not familiar with the omani culture. And other countrys should have a counterpart to this. For those who want a full resume: this museum gives probably one of the best impressions of a culture you are able to get from a single place. It ranges from traditional clothing and weaponry, to architecture and even art from today, all of this is enough resembled, that you get a feeling for ist. Because the museum is not a big deal in terms of its size, but if you'd like to you could spend hours in it learning more about the omani culture. In all I'd say that in terms of representing a culture it is better than close to every other museum on the planet right now, which I am serious about, and very experienced too. If you're still reading this are planning to visit Oman, then just go there, it'll help you to understand this culture more than a guide could ever do.

Samira Al-Yaqoubi and Rahma Al-Hajri’s exhibition in Bait Al-Zubayr in the Wilayat of Muttrah in Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman, entitled (Pastel Cities). The exhibition is at the top of splendor and beauty, reflecting the Omani environment in ideas and materials. It’s open from 5 Until 9 o'clock every day for a month , for all tourists and visitors to the Sultanate of Oman, it is good to visit the exhibition and acquire one of his paintings to keep you a beautiful memory forever from Oman.
