Been here a few times and always been really happy with the food. Sadly now I won't be going back. The waiter told us and another foreigner nearby that the 15% service charge on the receipt was actually tax and we should add more. (VAT in Uzbekistan is 12%) This isn't true and it says service is covered in the menu. We queried it, but he claimed it was tax - we saw through the scam and left.

I heard this is a quite highly recommended restaurant in Tashkent. I thought it would be nice to visit but I didn't make any reservation and so happened I walked past on the last night so decided to try my luck. Arrived at dinnertime and the place was crowded. Asked for a table and was rejected by the staff saying its full for the night. I was disappointed but then I decided to stand at the entrance for a while and see if luck would be on my side. True enough, a couple left after 10 minutes and I got the table. Came to see if there was anything to try for Uzbek food that was in my list. Saw the Mashkurda and Samsa Parmuda which looks interesting and decided to order. The soup was good and I liked the Samsa a lot as well, though the size was a bit small for me to feel satisfied. Saw the chak-chak under dessert and it sounds playful and mysterious and wanted to give it a try without knowing what it was. Turns out its a deep fried snack with honey. It was good but it tasted familiar as it resembles something we have in Asian dessert like the sachima. Food was good overall but price was a little expensive. Service of the staff was average, would be good if they were more attentive. Raised my hand a couple of times they were standing in front of me but didn't see it. Those who saw me would signal they come back to me after serving food to another table but then was forgotten after. Nevertheless its a good experience to dine here and would recommend it if you are in Tashkent.

It was okay. We've been traveling all around Uzbekistan for a month and today is our last day here. Last night we wanted one last Uzbek meal. I searched for a nice Uzbek restaurant. Mostly we've been eating at small side of the road type places and way off the beaten path places The reviews for this place were all really good. I just wasn't really that impressed. The tomatoes were bland while I've been raving about how UZ has the best tomatoes in the world for the past month. We didn't order lamb chops, but here you see we were served them and they were served well done, or in other words, ruined and we couldn't get what we had really ordered because the restaurant was closing early due to quarantine restrictions.. The norin, and the laghman were good, the plov was dry. And this one last thing didn't actually bother me at all I'm only throwing it in because I know it's important to some people: I've been living outside the US for over 7 years and no one around me speaking my language has just become part of my everyday reality but the reviews said the servers spoke English and were very helpful, in case that's important to you, that was not the case for us. Our server knew the menu in English but that was it. He didn't *speak* English and when we tried to ask him questions he was lost, so don't expect an English speaking server, but if you're traveling outside your country and still expecting people to speak to you in your language you're being a jerk, we're all in it for the experience, right?? You'll be okay! Go! Explore! Don't worry if someone can't understand you. They're nervous too.

This restaurant was one that some of our group had been to the day before we arrived and was recommended by them. It was about 10 minutes walk from the hotel and the service was a different level to almost every other place we'd visited in Tashkent - excellent English and engaging staff/ The menu had plenty of choices and proper English descriptions rather than just a couple of words or something poorly translated from Russian. There were loads of options I could have chosen but I settled on chicken with mixed veg and roast potatoes. This was beautifully presented and a decent portion size and the veg was actually properly cooked and still crunchy, delicious! As we were chatting together and not in a rush I opted for strudel as a dessert, good choice as it was superb. Certainly a good choice of restaurant with food as nice as Basilic but better service and less than half the price.

We visited Afsona twice to eat while we were in Tashkent. The first time the service & food were excellent, we had Samsa, bread, Shashlik, Afsona meat plus other dishes, which were all delicious. The waitress was really helpful, made suggestions & did her best to help us enjoy the best of Uzbek food. This was at lunchtime. The second time we visited the waitress seemed disinterested. The food was still really good but after our salads, we waited almost an hour for any sign of our further courses. The waitress was chatting away to her colleagues. She then disappeared off to a car parked outside during our wait & did not come to see why we had not received our next dishes at all. Completely disinterested. In the end, we asked for our main dishes to go as it was clear they had been forgotten. I had to get up, walk into the restaurant & ask what was going on with our main dishes. She said it would take 10 minutes, they then promptly arrived. So clearly, they had been forgotten about. It was such a shame as the food was really good. Great first visit, very poor second visit.

Great hospitality, be advised that during Ramadan the evenings get busy - so book ahead. Some menu items might not be available due to the high demand.

Excellent Uzbek place ideal for someone looking to dip their toe into the cuisine for the first time. The food is delicious but not as authentic as in other places in Tashkent. Super clean and very friendly staff. Beautiful interior.

Very annoyingly long awaiting for the order. It took them 30 minutes to bring tea, and 40 minutes to start bringing the order. The food itself is not outstanding. There were 3 pieces of meat in the whole plov, the cheese pie was only dough with a slight taste of cheese. The place was recommended, but we left absolutely disappointed Btw the tips are included!

I will never ever visit this place again! And I do not recommend to come to it to anyone! Our last experience was terrible. We ordered a Baktria salad and some pilaf for take-out for the first time. The salad was not fresh at all. It seemed like they cut the ingredients yesterday and just mixed them. The cucumbers and greens looked disgusting that I was not brave enough to taste them! You could have taken your time and cut the veggies freshly. It was so disappointing! And the waiters were standing in the line, talking to each other and staring at us! Is it polite to act like that???

I like the design of the restaurant. Food was good but it took a really long time between the courses, they had too many large groups to serve. I didn't like that nobody took care of the used dishes, I got quite a large pile at the end of the courses and had no space left.

We had a fantastic time at Afsona. The food is traditional Uzbek and absolutely delicious. Our waiter, Daler, was incredibly kind and recommend delicious dishes. Definitely a must stop if you want some traditional dishes.

We came here on a recommendation from friends who had visited the year before. The menu offers all the Uzbek classics "refined for tourists, with less fat and oil." We tried about seven dishes, all of them delicious. A few options available for vegetarians. Our server Saddam was lovely, helpful and informed. Would go back and recommend to others.

The prices here are very high by Tashkent standards but the food is good. Their plov, chicken shashlik, and bread were delicious. However, I wouldn't recommend their beef shashlik as it was tasteless and difficult to chew. Service is mediocre like most restaurants in Tashkent and there is an automatic 20% gratuity charge that they don't deserve.

One of the finest restaurants in town, on a wide boulevard in a lovely part of the city. Their food is accurately self-described as a contemporary take on Uzbek cuisine. Do try the breads, which were heavenly.

Very popular place especially at lunch hours. So better to reserve table in advance. Tasty business lunches, varying depending on a week day. Good variety of the local traditional food. Freshly baked traditional bread -lepeshka. Nice and fast personal. Highly recommended to visit.

The food is quite good and nicely presented; loved the desert! People were friendly and the atmosphere is nice. However service was very slow and the price is a bit too steep in comparison with similar places in Tashkent and Uzbekistan. Also, they allow inside smoking which for us is no longer normal or desired when having dinner.

To be honest! this is the best restaurant from 100 places that I had ever tried in this country, namely, the price is cheaper and clearly reasonable as well as the taste is superb! Every waiter and waitress can speak english and they provide an English menu as well. I am pretty sure you will be satisfied and enjoy with every dish in this restaurant.

I was in Uzbekistan for a bit over a week and on the first evening we went here. It was the best restaurant of our Holiday that's why we even came back for our last night in Toshkent. Amazing food, nice atmosphere, uzbek food but more elegant.

good ambiance, outside, very good local soups, shaslık and salads. however something wrong with their service, first They forgot to reserve our table, they forgot to get our soups what we offered, wine had waited to be opened 20 min nearby. Probably it was so crowded because of the religios bayram. At the end When we complained about the service the owner lady come and she was sorry , apologized and serve dessert free and also made a %20 discount. As it's the first day in Uzbekhistan, we dint mind the service too much, hence taste are good enough..

Don't order Shashlik. I ordered beef and lamb shashlik. The beef shashlik was smaller compared to most restaurants in Tashkent and the price about two times more, 38,000. Plus the meat was tough and not special. I also ordered lamb shashlik but I was charged for lamb loins. I pointed at the menu and said lamb and beef shashlik but I was charged for lamb loins. The difference in price was significant about 44,000 for lamb shashlik and 117,000 for loins. I was given three small pieces of lamb on three bones, each only had about a bite size of meat on them. I thought that was the 44,000 order, but when I got my bill, it was much higher. My bill for only about 100 to 150 grams of meat was over 200,000. Very disappointed. I tried to tell them that I ordered lamb shashlik not loin, but they said I was wrong. I asked for a discount and I was charged 5 percent service charge instead of 20 percent, but they didn't lower the price for the waiter mistake. In total I had to pay 38,000 for a small beef shashlik, 117,000 for 3 bit size pieces of lamb loins and 20,000 for tea. Very unsatisfied!

Nice place to get uzbek food, especially, if you’re visiting. Shashlik (kebab) is quite good. Pleasant atmosphere. Decent prices, not cheap, but you won’t have to sell your kidney :) We used to live in Uzbekistan and went there a lot. Now this is our go to place whenever we come back to visit.

If you want to enjoy tasty food and enjoyable atmosphere don't forget to book your table at Asfona. The place is packed even in the middle of the week and with good reason, Food is cooked in an open kitchen and really at the last minute. The flames of the grill and the delicious smell of the fresh baked tandoor bread and samsa are wonderful. We enjoyed fantastic shashliks and grilled potatoes. The house serves draft beer and offers a nice choice of Ouzbek wine. We really enjoyed our time there and we will definitely come back.

We usually visit this restaurant once every month. We like the atmosphere outside and inside the restaurant. The food is good, they have only local cuisine in the menu. We usually order the fried lagman "noodles", Chaihansky plov and beef shahslik with a pot of green tea. They serve soft drink's and if you are into alcohol beverages they do have a bar menu. The staffs are friendly and provides good service.

We chose this place based on TripAdvisor reviews. We loved it so much, we are there twice! Both times we sat outside. The restaurant is located off the street so there is no spectacular view but it is cozy enough. It looks nice inside. The food was amazing! We had at least 8-9 different dishes and all of them were outstanding! The wine was very good and there is a decent selection of them. The menu is in English as well. Our waiter spoke very good English and made it very easy to answer our questions. The only minus I would say it’s how they phrase the tip. We were told by our waiter the service charge is for the kitchen only, which I find a bit insulting and cheeky, that we were asked to pay service charge and tip on top of it! Service charge is for the service at all stages of the meal, including waiters.

Good for our taste but nothing exceptional. Professional and efficient service. Beautiful interior decoration, design. We were, unfortunately, too close to the open kitchen and therefore subject to the scents and heat of grilling with a non-existent air conditioning. Salad, soups, bread were excellent but rooms for improvement on mains. Soups and salads were good. Particularly enjoy the flatbreads as they were made fresh in-house and served warm. Chicken shashlik was good but other meat dishes to be a little heavy handed with salt. English menu available and staff speak ok English to get by. If the weather permits, sit outside as the open kitchen left us smelling like kitchen when we left. Service was warm and friendly. Prepare to pay US$8-15 person including wine. (Translated by Google) Nice, cozy place, the kitchen is quite tasty. I ordered Samsa with a pumpkin - it will fly away)), mastava is beyond competition, the barbecue was very tasty. But there is a claim, the waiter had to wait a long time, because he himself did not fit practically, but this did not overshadow the evening.

This well-run restaurant aims to deliver Uzbek cuisine with a contemporary touch, breathing life into old favourites such as pumpkin manty (steamed dumplings), cheburek pastries and hanum (dough roll stuffed with vegetables). The decor is understated, with stylish geometric wood designs favoured over the ethnographic museum approach. The four-course set business lunch is a steal at 30,000S

(Translated by Google) I was a little nervous because it was listed as a luxury restaurant in the “Walking the Earth” section, but the locals looked down and the clothes were just for everyday wear. The staff was very friendly, the food was delicious and the price was low. Medium steak with vegetables, beer 500ml was about 85000 sum. I thought I would do more if I had a delicious steak in Japan. The service fee was 20% (20% was 85,000 Sum), but it was a very good staff, so could it be so cheap? I even thought. Since it is about 15 minutes on foot from the Navoy Theater, I think that it is also possible to stop by.

We were here for lunch and sat in the open area outside. The food and wine were great, prices reasonable, ambience good but the service was very slow and we had to go looking for the waitress again and again to request for the menu and check on the order. As a result, some had finished lunch before the others were served. Too much time was wasted.

Make reservations, especially for Friday and Saturday night! The Manti was superb, as were our kebabs. Good atmosphere. Service was ok, if a bit slow (the restaurant was totally full on a Friday night). Menu in English.

(Translated by Google) We will never come again. I've been expecting, but the image of Tashkent has gone bad. Contrary to the kindness and kindness of other cities, I became cold and sad. I don't see the goodness of Uzbekistan because of the clerical customer service. Drinks are also late and just squeezed between shop assistants. Because the meal is higher than other stores, I am not satisfied with people who are used elsewhere. It was a nasty feeling.

It is a wonderful restaurant, easily my favourite in Tashkent. Uzbek food with a contemporary feel. All starters, soups and mains I tried were DELICIOUS! Nicely priced, very friendly staff who speak good English, and it is just a 5 minute walk from Tashkent Vokzal. I fully reccomend it!

Good food, excellent service. One of the few places where staff can understand English. The lamb shank was well cooked. The palwan steak was a little bit kebab-ish. The meat and potato samsa were goid as well but the winner was the tomato sauce that came with it. We ordered icecream and got complimentary scoops of two other flavours. All three, strawberry, chocolate and vanilla were good. Overall very good lunch experience on our last day here in Uzbekistan.

It’s the nicest place for food at Tashkent. An amazing restaurant with extensive menu on Uzbek food. People at Afsona will help you to choose your dishes as per your preferences. Amazing service and the food is tasteless. The restaurant’s interior is flaunting rich and depicts the ethnicity of the country. Want to eat Uzbek food, visit Afsona

The best restaurant we found in Uzbekistan. Cool, modern version of traditional Uzbek dishes, very good service, you can pay with credit card (not that obvious in UZ). It is also located on a nice, western-like street in Tashkent, where you can stroll around after your meal

We tried Mashkhurda and Qiyma soup, Fried Chuchvara, Beef and Qiyma Shashlik, Fried Lagman. I dont like meats(lagman and beef) cause tough, not delicious. Soups are not good not bad. Portions are small for that price

Lovely and modern restaurant in Tashkent. The food is super tasty and well presented. It’s has a different atmosphere than the more traditional restaurants you can find but still with authentic Uzbek food.

Afsona serves up Uzbek food in a posh ambiance, with a view of its shashlik grill. The experience was excellent throughout, we ordered samsa, a feta eggplant roll and soup for appetisers. I did not rate it 5 stars because its steamed fish really was a big flop. We came from Asia and I guess we were very spoiled when it came to seafood, and Tashkent being landlocked doesn’t help in terms of offering fresh catch. If you must order fish the grilled option would be much better. Otherwise judging from the quality of their appetisers we know everything else would have been very good. It is on the pricier end for what they charge you though, but Tashkent prices are generally higher than elsewhere in the country.

The soup and stuffed eggplants were very good, but the steam fish was truly disappointing and quite over priced for what it was. The fish was not fresh to start with, and the piece was small and tasted really bland. It was just accompanied with steam vegetables which were also very bland. I don’t understand why it took 50 min to prepare. Somsa was also soso.
