visited here as part of a city tour. Not my kinda thing but others liked it and it was a real riot of colours. Heavily used by locals and far better presented wares than in a UK supermarket. Prices were ridiculously cheap too by our standards. The bread making was impressive, you could feel the heat of the ovens from 6m away.

It's a very lively, vibrant market where you can get anything you need. It's a huge compound where you may spend a day exploring. You can find fresh ingredients of vegetables, fruits, meat, fresh water fishes, breads, honey, tableware, kitchenware, live stocks, clothes, accessories, alcohol or beverages etc all in one place. If you are not cooking, you can find some delicious meals at local eatery or street food here too. There were parking space available, public transportation also available as it's located in the city center.

Absolutely loved this bazaar - a do not miss when you're in Tashkent. The market is HUGE and had everything from breads, fruits, vegetables, and meats to textiles and random trinkets. The quality of the fruits and veggies was incredible - we actually opted to eat the food here for lunch in lieu of a meal. The experience also felt totally authentic and unique - we were by far the only tourists as far as the eye could see when we went.

Chorsu Bazaar is a traditional bazaar located in the center of the old town of Tashkent. The bazaar is like no other one and has its own unique charm and ambience. Hundreds of stalls selling meat, fruits, nuts, breads and all daily necessities and its usually packed and crowded. A must visit place for tourists visiting Tashkent city.

Located in Old Town, this iconic and famous market is a shining example of business, trade and informal merchandise. Impressive structure from outside, a giant dome, two floors of products, meat and fish at ground floor, mountains of spices and dry fruits arranged in attractive fashion, fruits, vegetables outside, this market caters to the needs of one and all. But the problem is we really did not appreciate to be aggressively sold to by the locals. Also don’t bother bargaining. They will try to push and force more products on you. If you don't intend to buy, just ignore the sellers. Hopefully, the government should take responsibility of this matter. Thanks 🙏

The hustle and bustle of the market makes me wish I can travel back in time! They sell everything from dried goods to meat to vegetables. They tried to sell their giid but none were pushy. It's a great experience!

“You call that a market? Now this is a market.” It’s huge, not as modern as its sibling in the city; it does though have much greater choice. The bread section alone is as big as some bazaars. I loved the central Chorsu Market building complex. There is a fountain at its centre, an immensely high ceiling and consists of 2 floors. Have a nose around and get ya bargains!

An experience not to be missed when visiting Tashkent. All our interactions with the vendors were great - they were friendly and excited to see tourists. Chorsu offers lots of things and you can find authentic Uzbek cuisine, traditional clothes and decor, and so much more. The bazaar itself is quite big. My favourite part was visiting the stalls inside as there was SO many different types of nuts to choose from. They also allowed us to try some. I loved the Halwa and I also tried the yogurt snack. The second part I really loved was the outdoor food market. Do not miss it. The food is so delicious and very affordable and you can easily have a very filling meal to share here. We tried different dishes such as plov, their bread, tea, chicken and more.

Chorus bazaar ... one of the lively places in the Capital city. Here you will find almost everything that the country produces ranging from spices, nuts, dairy products, meats, fruits and vegetables ... and much much more. It is also a cool place to enjoy a local meal. Easily accessible by metro. One of the cities sites to visit for sure.

Huge market place with beautiful building. They are, you can buy and find practically everything from food, apparel and appliances. Worth visiting just keep in mind that you have to bargain a lot otherwise you’ll pay double price. And don’t go on weekends, you’ll be lost in the crowd.

It’s a market. You will find local customers more than tourist. You will find many vegetable and fruits shops. It’s not only inside the dome. You will see many shops all around the dome. And if you are vegetarian then better you don’t go inside . Because all meat shops inside and it’s very scary.

I found it was overrated. Yes, it's very big, but it's nothing special. If you are looking for souvenirs, you'll only find the cheap, tacky stuff.

(Translated by Google) Chorsu Bazaar in Tashkent is one of the largest markets in the country and throughout Central Asia, known since the Middle Ages and of great importance for the Great Silk Road along with another major market in Tashkent - Alai Bazaar. And even the name of the market is translated from the Persian language as “four roads” or “four streams”, since in ancient times it was in this place that all the trade routes of the East were connected. And in modern times, Chorsu Bazaar stands in the center of the intersection of the four main shopping streets of Tashkent. The history of Chorsu Bazaar is rooted in the distant past. A millennium ago, a settlement was formed in the basin of the Chirik River. According to tradition, the bazaar became the center of the settlement. The market began to overgrow with various buildings, people led an active lifestyle around the formed fair: exchanged goods, received nomadic tribes. Over time, the fair attracted the attention of foreign merchants. Traders from all over the world began to come for local clothes, spices, and fabrics ...

(Translated by Google) The Eski Zhuva (Old Tower) bazaar, better known as Chorsu (Chorsu - “four roads” or “four streams”) and located in the Old Town at the intersection of four shopping streets, impresses with its colorful goods and architectural structure, a breath of antiquity and folk culture. It can be called one of the oldest bazaars of Tashkent, and indeed of Central Asia as a whole, since it was known as far back as the Middle Ages and was of great importance in the trade route of the Great Silk Road. Imagine you are walking along a noisy bazaar, along the very paths and rows where merchants wandered centuries ago, tall camels laden with goods from distant lands, shopkeepers, craftsmen and ordinary people - buyers. The modern Chorsu bazaar, of course, has been thoroughly restored, many new covered rows and shops have been built, but despite this, it still has a truly mesmerizing cimes of the East. This bazaar is also of particular interest because it is located in the heart of the historical and architectural complex dating from the 16th - 18th centuries - this is the Kukeldash and Khoja Akhrara Madrasahs, the Jami Mosque (Friday). From the records of travelers of past centuries, you can find out that in the main bazaar of Tashkent there were countless rows of goods, small shops, baths, caravanserais, teahouses and other establishments. Already in those days Chorsu was a whole trading city. The goods at the modern Chorsu bazaar are divided as follows: 1) products; 2) craft ranks; 3) clothing market. Of particular interest are the first two sections, they are located under large covered pavilions, most of which are crowned with blue domes of the eastern type. In the center is the main, largest dome, with its size and shape resembling a circus dome (which, incidentally, is located in the same district of Tashkent). Around are numerous rows of fruits and vegetables, household goods.

My number 1 recommended place to visit in Tashkent. 1970's Soviet architecture housing hundreds of stalls selling everything from clothes to cuts of meat you may never have seen before. And the spices, they provide a beautiful aroma to the nose and a colourful sight to the eyes Easy to get to via the Chorsu Metro stop and particularly active in the morning. Great place to have a kebab lunch after wandering around the stalls.

Amazing place to visit for tourists and expats living here. You can find anything if you have the time to get lost in this huge maze of stalls in Chorsu bazaar. The meat market is something I have never seen on such a scale before. I love buying plants from the nursery area and local clothes from the stalls... Also a place to get spare keys cut and buy items for your house.

I’d have preferred some more dining choices and perhaps some juice or water vendors within the market itself. I got so thirsty but to find a drink, you really have to go hunting around. Good souvenir place for plates/scarves/tablecloths if you’re into that. The main bazaar where they sell meats and fruit and plants is pretty amazing to see. I see this place and I realize I could retire right now in uzbekistan. The prices of consumables is incredibly low.

One of the best places in Tashkent to buy daily commodities. I liked the circular row of the shop. It's a bazaar under a huge turquoise dome. Before purchasing any food item they will offer you part of that food to taste. If you are satisfied then you can buy it unless not.

Tashkent Chorsu Market. A place visited by many people as a traditional market. They sell a variety of items, including dried fruits, fresh fruits, vegetables, potatoes, live chickens, and ornamental birds. A place that offers plenty of things to see for foreigners.

It is very easy to find the market. You can get there by bus, metro, or taxi. We chose to get there by metro. The metro station is right inside the market, so it is very convenient. I did not see as many souvenirs for tourists as I saw in other bazaars in Samarkand or Bukhara. There are more local food, fresh food, regular clothes, household items, etc. I enjoyed walking and observing Uzbekistan people’s shopping. Don’t miss the food area. Both sides are packed with street food. Freshly cooked, inexpensive prices, interesting, and delicious food. There are seats that you shared with other people, order food, and enjoy your $3 meal.

Great one. Biggest market with everything under a single roof including meat, dairy products, gold, vegetables, fruits, clothing etc. There's a metro station nearby as well as bus stop for easy commutation . Most of the shops are closed by 6 PM. So ensure to reach there in the day time to cover all shops (though it is not possible)

Chorsu Bazaar  is the traditional bazaar located in the center of the so called old town of Tashkent, the capital city of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Under its blue-colored domed building and the adjacent areas, all daily necessities are sold. Chorsu Bazaar is located across the street from Chorsu station of the Tashkent Metro (Uzbekistan line), near Kukeldosh Madrasah. "Chorsu" is a word from the Persian language meaning "crossroads" or "four streams". Kukeldash Madrasah, built around 1570, is located at the edge of the bazaar and there is a mosque there. Chorsu is very vast and uncomfortly landscaped bazaar. For most people it is chepaer and had many stuff to buy.

It's an iconic bazaar (market) of city of Tashkent. This market has been around for quite sometime and it carries traditional Uzbek or Central Asian to be more exact bazaar traditions. You can purchase wide variety of products in this market for reasonable prices. Now, I haven't been there for almost two decades, because we no longer live in Uzbekistan. Nonetheless, from what I heard it's still the same as it was when I was a kid. I used to visit this bazaar quite often with my grandparents. We used to buy our groceries and household goods there. If you want to witness typical old-school Uzbek shopping then you can't find a place better than Chorsu Bazaar. Even if you're not interested in buying anything, it's still worth visiting this place because it holds lots of history and custom of Uzbek culture within itself.

(Translated by Google) ADVANTAGES: Good selection of products, location LIMITATIONS: A lot of people, a lot of pesky sellers Before, when I was still living in Tashkent, I often bought at this bazaar and clothes and groceries, and even bought dollars from local hucksters, because there is trouble with official exchangers and the "black market" rules throughout the country, well, that's another story)) Now I’ve been there quite a while already, but I don’t think that anything could change dramatically there, the market is simply huge and you can find practically everything there! Here you can find things and food and households. goods and a tasty snack, in general, whatever your heart desires, probably it will be interesting for tourists to visit here, but actually they always hang out there, because the market is located in such a historical and architectural place and there are many different attractions nearby, for example: Kukeldash madrasah, Khoja Akhrara, mosque Jami. Yes, and probably many people will be interested in bargaining at the bazaar with local Uzbek traders, everyone throws off his own way for this and the bazaar is a must here! It is just as easy to buy local souvenirs or local sweets such as Kurt, if someone has not tried I advise you to try this salty cheese made from sour milk to quench your thirst))) Getting to Chorsu will not be a problem either, it can be done from anywhere in the city and there are a lot of buses and the Tashkent metro, you can wander around a huge market for hours, though if it is VERY hot on the street in the heat of summer and not everyone will be able to master it out of habit.   I still have some things from this bazaar that have been preserved, it is unlikely of course I will ever be destined to see it again, but still the market remained in my memory for a long time, at one time it was a lot of fun! :) Year visited: 2011 General impression: An ancient huge market, it will be interesting for tourists to visit!

This is the biggest market in Tashkent and the suburbs. I didn’t expected the market to be so large. You really can find everything here: meat, bakery, pastry, grocery , milk products, house staff, traditional clothes and etc. I also tasted some national food and it was extremely tasty. The seller here is polite and ready for bargain but you should pay in cash (nobody can accept credit cards)

An amazing experience. A place where you can see and feel the essence of the Silk Road. I imagine the trading style and how the merchants presented their merchandise as an exact version of how it happened here hundreds of years ago. This Bazaar has it all. Food products, meat, vegetables, gold, dairy products, and souvenirs. Also, be mindful that they negotiate and bargain, so prices are not final. Make sure you visit the food court. They have excellent local food and grilled kabob. The place is worth visiting. Visit and take some photos to show back home. 🇺🇿 ❤️

Big place, easy to get lost and hard to refind the metro to haha. Sellers weren't interested in us and didn't want to help us understand anything about their products and the prices they offered seemed way too high. We were hoping to find berries but must be the wrong time of the year. If you've been to other bazaars you won't find much unique here I think.

A must visit to feel the buzz and pulse of beautiful city Tashkent.

Huge marketplace with hundreds of stalls both inside and around the Bazaar building, selling virtually everything there is to be sold. The butcher stalls inside the dome are somehow a little gruesome, but in general, the sights and smells (an assortment of smoked cheese, pickkes, spices, fresh fruit and roasting meat) are breathtaking. It can be easily reached by subway (Chorsu Station).

A wonderful place to see local life in Tashkent. It is quite clean and there are many stalls showcasing the everyday goods that the Uzbeks need in terms of clothing, utensils and of course food. Stop by their food stalls to have a wonderful sashlik, black tea, bread and hunym, which is a potato dough with tomato sauce. There are also touristy sections where you can bargain for souvenir Uzbek crafts, such as pottery.

Such an interesting place. I was short of time so made a quick tour of this market. A go to place for fruits, vegetables, spices, dry fruits and what not. I tried the local veg salad which is available alacarte. So, we have the option to pick the cut vegetables placed in the shelves and they provide them for eating. The bazaar has a huge meat section and is clean and well maintained. A great place to know the Uzbeks way of life.
