Hotel location, rooms and structure are very best BUT staff are pathetic and terrible. I arrived from airport at night as my booking was in this hotel when reached reception they asked me for extra 100 dollars despite i had paid them online in advance after 30 minutes of arguments i had left no other option and paid them because i was a foreigner and secondly tired from 12 hour long journey.. This hotel Need serious improvement in staff behaviour and ethics they are completely greedy and fraudulent and even lower staff members e.g security guards and restaurants waiters always insist to provide escort services! I was shocked like what insane people are these!! if guests don't need it why you people are insisting?? I suggest DO NOT stay in this hotel other then emergency. Wish i could slap each member of their poor management. Shame on all of you guys. You not only disrespecting your guest but you are actually destroying your own country international tourist industry that could benefit you more then your sinful approachs. You people are unfaithful with your own country as tourists come and go but they will never recommend nor come again that will massively effect your tourism in a long run. Be ethical and be faithful atleast for the sake of your own country.

The Uzbekistan Hotel is one of the oldest hotels in Tashkent and offers a high level of service. Located just 100 metres from Amir Temur Square. The interiors are decorated with dark wooden furniture and elegant fabrics. Guests can benefit from free parking and there are excellent public transport connections.

My stay at Hotel Uzbekistan was a dive into Soviet history. Staying at Hotel Uzbekistan is like traveling back to the Soviet era. This historic hotel, one of Tashkent's oldest, showcases Soviet modernism. Its unique architecture, resembling a large open book, adds a distinctive touch among modern buildings. With seventeen stories rich in history, the hotel captures the essence of old Soviet Tashkent, especially in its ornate concrete facade. Located in a vibrant area near the Amir Temur monument, the hotel offers a prime spot to explore. While the rooms are comfortable, the service, though adequate, could see some improvements. The staff's friendliness adds to the overall experience. The staff at Hotel Uzbekistan are friendly and welcoming, adding a warm touch to the stay. Their eagerness to assist and pleasant demeanor contribute positively to the overall experience. However, it's worth noting that while the service is decent, it may not meet the standards of a modern luxury hotel. It's important to manage expectations regarding this aspect. The service is adequate but not exceptional, which is something to bear in mind. Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Uzbekistan for a short stay, especially for those interested in experiencing the ambiance of the Soviet era. It's a place that offers more than just accommodation; it provides a glimpse into a significant part of history.

The hotel was built during USSR and I doubt renovation was ever done. So, while they have a very nice lobby, the rooms have got an old furniture and so the bathroom. The bathroom wasn't cleaned when I checked in, and even the towels were old, but after cleaning the room on the next day it felt a bit different))) Basically, fine hotel for a few days stay as the location is very good. They do offer nice breakfast buffet.

Hotel is a classic soviet vibe. I liked it but the rooms are very tired, however good value. The service from the front desk was friendly and very efficient. The bar / restaurant downstairs was decent.

Stuck in the past The building is iconic, and if you ever fancied staying in a soviet hotel, you can still do it here since little has changed at this hotel The first room that we were allocated did not have a working aircon, and the balcony door literally fell off Thankfully, the staff allocated another room. Even the renovated rooms are dated. Food was just about okay

This place is a joke. Super nice lobby and the nice things about this hotel ends here. Was given room 610 my mom couldn’t sleep because of the smell so she went and sat in the nice lobby till the morning. There are no mattresses for humans you will be sleeping on wood like mattresses. On pictures you will see wooden piano like thing that will be your AC it is probably older than my grandfather and that AC will not be blowing cool/cold air just a fan. They making crazy money they are packed most of the time why not invest and fix things

The air condition is barely working, we're are sleeping in a room at 30 degree Celsius. The water coming out of the shower is brown and our keyes stop working all the time. Can't recommend it.

The only 2 things good about this place was the location and breakfast. I made a mistake by booking the room here for me and my wife . She was visiting the country first time and first impression sucked due to this hotel .

The classic Soviet hotel, once the only place foreigners could stay in Tashkent. Great architecture and a superb position with the Amir Temur Metro station at its doorstep and good restaurants and shops all walkable from it. Rooms are a little dated but that adds to the Uzbekistan ambience for me. Comfortable beds and a large bath to luxuriate in after a days exploring. Fairly large spread, but still basic, breakfast. This is improved by a short order cook to quickly produce a very decent omlette or eggs however you like them. Don't miss the simple bar on the top floor. Great views as you sip a beer.

An old soviet hotel near the Timur statue in Tashkent. The hotel is a piece of history and unfortunately the rooms have also stayed this way. The carpet is fairly dirty, the main issue is the bathroom has an old drain smell along with the hot water not even coming out the tap. I still would recommend if you want to stay in a soviet style hotel, if you want comfort however look elsewhere.

The exterior is beautiful and the location is great. My room had no hot water for my entire stay, and the sound of construction was omnipresent during the day. When asked when the hot water would return, or why it was non-existent, I received several different answers, including to 'wait 30 minutes because it was going to come back on', which did not happen. A cleaning person entered my room without knocking and without a reason, and front desk didn't know why. The breakfast was great, and the staff was very friendly. I had a view of the mountains and the sunrise was epic. The price point is accurate for the hotel.

A Soviet era building, but that isn’t the problem. Things just don’t work. It’s different in every room, but they are all bad. In one it’s the air, or the door handle, phone, toilet, shower, etc. Bizarrely some rooms have all British style outlets, so all your Central Asia standard plugs don’t work. Breakfast entertainment each morning was comparing what was broken in the various rooms. I can see maintenance is complicated with different fixtures and fittings in every room, but really, behind the facade it’s junk.

This is the place where Soviet mentality meets nouveau riche style. The personnel is unqualified, doesn't speak English. I'm quite sure they did not pass rigorous recruiting process, but were rather hired through nepotistic processes. They did not allow our friend to invite us inside, cutting some new rules. What rules? — The guy at the entrance referred us to the reception, the reception did not let us in, but couldn't show the documents either.

Attention! The review is not about the hotel but about the BAR on the top floor. One of the best views in town! Especially in the evening. It’s strange that even locals don’t know about it. Grab a beer/tea/coffee, sit in front of an open window and relax. The bartender is very friendly and attentive. The only issue is that drink selection is poor…

This hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever seen. All the services were absolutely good. But, as the number of floors being 16, I had to wait at least 2 minutes to get to one of the 4 lifts available.

This hotel is historical, which is why I chose to stay here. Ignore other people's reviews, it's a good hotel. It was builtbto recieve dignitaries during Soviet times. Yes the building could be renovated, but that's what gives it charm. Easy access right next to the metro and main sights. Taxi service, rental car, cafe, money exchange, rooftop bar, what more could you ask for? The room I stayed in was fine, everything worked and I slept well. I'd come back for sure.

Old Soviet hotel, bit in disrepair in some areas, but for the price paid, was an overall decent stay. + the location was good, metro was close by, so can get around the city easily from there. Didn't eat there so can't say anything for the food there. Staff were friendly and spoke enough English to help with any answers I needed.

Nice to see this long standing structure. Has a lot of history around it and its central to helping visitors navigate the beautiful city of Tashkent. The Metro and the City Tour bus are also at this location

  • 3/5 Martin H. 1 year ago on Google
This is getting dated and a lot in our group had problems with their rooms; dirty, showers not working properly, too hot, etc. Very conveniently located once you find the entrance to the Metro. Big selection at breakfast but for evening meals, go somewhere else.

I’m reviewing this as a land mark and an iconic building. So, I would say it’s one of the must see buildings if you’re in Tashkent. It’s old but still hold that glory of the Soviet era. Access to the top floor is allowed where you can watch the sunset and take a panoramic picture of the beautiful city of Tashkent.

The hotel is located in a very nice location. The hotel staff is supportive of foreigners and travellers. The breakfast was also very delicious. The only thing is that the hotel is quite expensive for the services they provide to you and the building is quite old. The bathroom and rooms are also not upto the standards due to old construction. Rest is good.

Stayed at hotel Uzbekistan for almost 2 months. The hotel location is good and some staff members like receptionists, concierge and wait staff are helpful and friendly but some are indifferent. Location of the hotel is right next to a subway station and also a beautiful park opposite the hotel. At night, there are street vendors selling all sorts of collectables and local paintings. The buffet breakfast is ok but could be more international and freshly prepared. Room decoration is dated and needs updating urgently. Needs better training and building needs updating to encourage more international tourists . Also beware of tourist touts working around the hotel during the morning.

No way! (My 1 star review) The only plus I would agree about all the reviews is their location. *Even if the hotel provides me with free accommodation, I wouldn’t stay with them.* The hotel needs to change all the carpets and clean the rooms.

Stuck in the past, as it was already mentioned. Out of 6 days of my stay there, I had no issues with hot water only like first couple of days, then I had Fanta instead of water 🙃 everything is outdated, bed was kinda rough…..however location is the best for this city, you can’t go wrong with it n also staff was extremely helpful, won’t recommend staying here, unless you’re sovietophil 🤭

Large centrally located hotel with nice large tree parks in front of and in rear of hotel to walk around in. I stayed before and after an Uzbek tour in rooms 617 and 815 both facing the rear. The rooms were quiet and had nice room darkening drapes. Most times there was no hot shower water at random times of the morning or night. The dining room had a large variety of breakfast foods. Nice little shop off of the lobby. Also coffee/tea and snacks available right next to the lobby. I strongly recommend eating at the PIE restaurant about 1 to 2 blocks behind the hotel on the busy street adjoining the park. The restaurant not only has great pies but an excellent hot food menu at reasonable prices

Didn't stay here but went there for currency exchange and to get a local SIM card. The hotel is very big and have heard only good feedback about it. Our booking was done by the travel agency in a nearby hotel for entire group so couldn't change it.

Only the location is nice apart from that everything else is useless. They are trying to charge for anything even if that is clearly mentioned on booking saying this is hotel policy. We are not the only person who is getting duped here.

The worst hotel ever we stayed …you can choose hotel Uzbekistan if you want to get reminded of 19 century hotel services and amenities because ever since then the hotel is neither renovated nor their service improved …we booked for a night to stay in Tashkent and expected a lot from here but just a night was more than capable of ruining our entire trip …will start with toilets 1) The toilets we need to flush out the human waste of the people who stayed the same room before us because they never clean it 2. They won’t give you clean bed bed sheet as well as towels 3. If you want water make sure you go to some groceries nearby to get it because even you call reception and ask they won’t give you 4. Ac - they don’t what is that for because if you want to increase or decrease the temperature call reception AC technician will come with tool and increase it for you coz they won’t make provide you a remote controller because they don’t know what it is 5. Soap tooth kit they don’t even know that exist 6. Customer service in morning breakfast if you want non tasty old food go for it but remember if you about to die and ask a glass of water the waiter will stand nearby and ask you to get that yourself before you die IF YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR TRIP THE WORST ONE GO FOR IT

A fantastic heritage hotel with a perfect location. However, the room facilities and services were terrible. We checked into a room with a balcony, the air conditioner was not working and the bathroom door did not close or lock. After3-4 requests ac was fixed enough to not sweat but the bathroom was not repaired till we checked. There is no tea/coffee maker or tea or coffee in the room. After request kettle was sent and told that they do not have tea or coffee. Again called house keeping for cups and spoons and were rudely told to call the bar for the same. No menu card in the room for room service and initially were told at the restaurant that there is no room service but after various calls menu was sent and food sent from some kitchen. There is no shampoo or tooth brushes etc in the bathroom. The corridors stink with ancient carpets. Rooms are not cleaned only towels are replaced and after request the beds are made. However Reception staff was very pleasant and cooperative. Thats all I remember. Be careful before you book this hotel. Raman Kapur

(Translated by Google) The hotel is located in a very convenient location. The center of the city. Next to Shundok there is a subway, in front of it there is a big garden, and on the back side there is a factory-like tree. This hotel in the center of Leuin, also known as the state, should be 5 stars, not 4 stars. The appearance of the hotel in general use is good, maybe it will meet the requirements of 4-star hotels ... However, in some respects it is no different from a 2-star motel, the sink in the room does not leak water, or the plumber or sink you want to repair needs to be replaced. The TV signal is very bad. In a central location, it is a useful base to explore the city, but this is just about all that is perfect about the hotel. The rooms are very dated, likely not having seen renovation for years. I stayed twice at this hotel (first and last night of my trip to the country) and one room had the standard European style sockets I saw across the rest of the country, whereas the other room had standard British sockets… odd. Breakfast was fine but not the best - the staff should be more attentive to making sure the food looks well stocked. The lobby is oddly poorly lit… I don’t understand it.
