That was toooo bad experience being here. If you want to die in severe pain still in hospital without treatment then Blacktown emergency hospital is the best place for you. They don’t even provide bad while patient having a intravenous fluid. You can see in picture. I know I m wasting my time to write this review because there are so many bad reviews and still situation is same. But if someone counts the bad reviews then definitely I want add my one. Hope for best. They ( whole staff) really really really need to know the meaning of emergency. I want to give -10 star rating. 😡

I don’t understand why they even call this place emergency, because they have no clue what emergency is. Staff needs to take work seriously or even decently. Nursing staff don’t have decency of being human being, they don’t care of how serious you are- if you have emergency please don’t go there. If I could give less than one rating than I would love too. I have read so many bad reviews about them and I wonder what’s the point of putting reviews here, if your a staff in Blacktown emergency and your reading this- big shame on you ( try to be a normal human being and at least try to do half decent job. Or leave this work it’s not for you)

If I could give a zero I would. Took my 15 month old in because he had really rapid breathing and a temp of 39.8 and I sat in the childrens section for hours watching whilst every other child was seen (even though I was the first one in there). Not 1 nurse came and saw him, did any checks on him or even noticed we were there. I had to go ask the nurse if I could administer panadol because he was due and 25 minutes later she comes over with nurofen and panadol- which I had told her I had already given it to him when I asked. I find it ridiculous and negligent that not 1 nurse or doctor came and saw him knowing his breathing was between 45-55 breaths per minute (average is 35 which the health line told me when she told me to get straight to the emergency department) and a temp close to 40.

I am here with my dad 90 years old 24 hours in waiting room 🙄🙄 they want to do treatment but no bed available. Isn’t it joke? For half of the patients they put needle in the arm in advance for further treatment ,it’s very hard to sit on chairs with folding arm.don’t understand their plans.

I wish I could give them negative rating. We waited for several hours and did not even get to meet the doctor. I'm going to try my luck in a private hospital but looks like it's the same situation everywhere. It makes me think are we in a healthcare crisis. Honestly I used to feel sad for nurses and gp's that they had a hard time during COVID. After my experience today at this facility I have no sympathy towards any of these people. It's understood they are burned out. But treating patients with disrespect is totally unacceptable especially in this field. I was being very polite yet the response from the nurse was completely pathetic. Clearly not fit for this role. Wonder how God created these kind of people in the world. I wish they are put through a similar situation and go through same pain that each patient is going through here.

Went for 10 months infant injury at 6 pm. After 6 hours wait till midnight, our turn didnot come.Hospital staff had no idea when the peditrician doc will be available. There usual answer is we are short of staff and it's very busy day for us. Eventually, came back home around 1 am as kid could not be more patient and gave up finally. Its hard to believe that we live in developed country and one of the biggest council of Sydney and still medical infrastucture is so poor that infant patient has to wait for 7 hrs and still didnot got treatment in emergency department. What type of emergency tratement facility is this??

They don’t know meaning of emergency. Not enough doctors at night time, junior doctors doesn’t know what to do. Triage 1 and 2 nurses are not helpful even patient is standing outside waiting them to respond, they don’t care. More than 30 patients were there, some were waiting since more than 10 hours, only 1 doctor was coming to call patients after long gap. Sitting for long time is hard for a patient who is already unwell. Going to GP is still better than this experience. It was really horrible experience and hopefully I will never go to Blacktown Hospital emergency again.

I got cut on my left hand. It is bleeding and it need stitches. Have been waiting from last 5 hours. Asked receptionist 2 times why they are not calling my name. But no response at all. One of the worst and slowest hospital ever. If you have an emergency then don't come to this hospital.

Visited emergency with a very bad toothache, the receptionists were busy taking calls, though I was in pain and was standing there for good 5 to 10 minutes but receptionists were taking calls on calls. When attended, the receptionist was rude and again took the call, later she said that it could take hours to see doctor, does that means emergency?

Don’t believe what you hear in the media about Blacktown Hospital being “fixed” and improved staffing ratios etc - especially when it comes to paediatrics. We made the stupid decision last night and got rushed to Blacktown instead of Westmead Childrens after being told it’s “much better” …. When we arrived, from the outset it was organised chaos and the nurses were not pleasant to deal with. They may have been nice humans but unfortunately being understaffed and poorly treated within your workplace by an employer slowly seeps out of them and onto patients and their level of care. We were also told that there was ONE Dr in the whole of the ED shared across 8 sections covering both Adults and Children. This was ridiculous - there was a medical emergency requiring all hands on deck in the adult section which left the paediatric department with one nurse on the desk and about 12 children all quite sick and waiting 4-6+ hours to be seen. If you ever, god forbid need a hospital for your child GO TO WESTMEAD CHILDRENS! After I arrived at Blacktown via ambulance I learnt that Blacktown was actually busier than Westmead that evening. Something you can actually Google and obtain accurate information on prior. I’m sure they have good intentions and I’m aware staffing shortages are across the board in hospitals but Blacktown was next level and I truly feel for the staff and patients as the care is significantly reduced as a result.

I was admitted to emergency unit on Big Friday. As for having big reservations I have to admittedly say I was left with only good experience after all. Firstly medical officer P Smith and orthopedist were very thorough and patient. Everything was greatly taken care of at a very high level of medical care. Really happy to have been taken there by ambulance. Seriously couldn’t ask for more informative and helpful staff in such position. Thank you and keep up the good work.

They should change the name from Emergency as its obvious they do not know the meaning of Emergency. Nurses do not have any idea when doctor will be allocated or when he/she will be available to check patient. Worst service. Its better to visit Westmead hospital.

I was in Blacktown hospital for MRI and it was on time and accurate but the Emergency service was a nightmare. I went to emergency for aching in my belly at 11:30 pm and the first time that visit the doctor was 9:30 am the day after. Just imagine tolerating severe pain for hours and hours. I think they don’t know the meaning of emergency. 🥵😡 Finally, met the doctor while didn’t have anything for almost 14 hours, and I passed out during blood test. My wife thought I was dying. Never come back to this emergency and will add private hospitals to my insurance to avoid attending the public hospitals like it.

Been here since 3pm Sunday for a procedure that takes 10 minutes. It is currently 2 pm on Monday. I have waited 23 hours in which 14 of those I am not allowed to drink or eat. DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL. They have given me the most vague of responses, a patient that arrived 5 hours before me got the procedure first. When this was brought up they didn’t address it or correct it. Blacktown Hospital needs to be shut down.

My last visit here was on Monday 13.12.21 and it was the second time I’ve had to visit the emergency department at Blacktown Hospital. 1st was due to extreme illness during pregnancy and second for a fractured foot. Both times staff were not only pleasant to speak with but were rather helpful, friendly and appeared to genuinely care for each patients circumstance. The Porter at the door was always quick to help and emergency specialists were thorough in their work. Staff in the hot zone were amazing, handling an array of situations in a pleasant and professional manner. Yes wait times are long but I expect that is the case at almost every hospital especially given the Covid situation at the moment. A huge thanks to all staff for not only assisting with my injury but for also being so professional during wait times.

Could not agree more than the recent reviews. This emergency department is not at all meant to handle the emergency situation and staff is just sitting there to do entry and exit forms, doctors are next to impossible to see and wait time is always more than 4-5 hours and not sure why this is being called an emergency department when there is no one to handle the emergency situations.

STAY AWAY from this place. very rude doctor or “learning doctor” was submissive of my high blood pressure and i went in with sore abdomen and pains and didn’t even check that side of it. He spoke down to me and told me 139/110 is a normal blood pressure reading and why am i even at the hospital ???? well i was seeing blurry, dizzy and strong eye and head pressure !!!! taking bloods was an issue too he and the nurse started slapping the top of my hand quite forcefully that it hurt me . I ended up walking out due to their incompetence and RUDENESS and slapping me so hard ! oh yes the secretary that everyone leaves bad reviews for is terrible ! i’ve been there before and she has always had a bad attitude .

We had the unfortunate luck of being attended by a nurse named Nathan at emergency department. I have never come across anyone as ignorant, unhelpful & insensitive working within the medical field. His attitude towards everyone was sour, he didn’t want to do his job of answering questions & when he did he was rude & cocky. He palmed off all communication to his other colleagues. He fussed over helping a women in a wheelchair because she clearly was in pain & asked for assistance. After being told repeatedly our family member had many fainting episodes at home & came thru ambulance, he pressed on to wait outside in the seats. When family asked if there was beds available, he remarked we don’t offer beds for free. I didn’t know public patients had to pay employees for them to answer plain as day questions? The patient fainted badly & only then to cover his tracks he immediately took care as his others colleagues made comments. Overall the general attitude of this hospital is very unprofessional, nobody seems to want to communicate with patients. Be it the reception staff, nurses & even doctors after half a day’s wait, behave like you are an inconvenience. If it weren’t for the some hard working & compassionate workers I would give 0 stars. Don’t bother coming here if you expect decent amount of compassion.

24 hour wait on the ER waiting room chair while doubling over with appendicitis pain. 6 hours to get pain medication and no bed available. It is inhumane. The experience is consistently bad every time you visit this place.

Nurse Irene was very condescending. Although I complained of long term severe chest pain and lack of circulation to my limbs, I was told to take some panadol and it'll go away.... thank you hippocrates.

Thank you to the team at the Emergency Department. Urology specialist, Doctors, nurses and support staff. You do the job of managing the patient expectations and doctor’s availability very well. Yes wait was killing with the extreme pain, no beds availability, but thank you for the proper guidance and looking after me. I am super grateful that I am no more in pain. God bless you all.

I came to this ED with stroke likes symptoms. The staff was very friendly and very professional to act upon it quickly. There was around 30 people waiting. But the triaging was very efficient to determine what is an emergency and what is not.Their timely treatment (thrombolysis) action saved my life. There was no delay when when it comes to emergency situation. Now I have fully recovered from this stroke and currently undertaking further investigations to prevent further strokes.

Do not waste your time. Your time is better spent rocking in the corner in agony or googling your symptoms then coming to this place. Time after time it fails to manage patients and provide basic care. My partner and I have been here for over 7 hours with a suspected broken ankle, to just have been told by one of the nurses that we were never allocated a doctor so the scans have just been sitting and haven’t been reviewed. He asked for pain relief and was offered ice. We then asked to leave and were told we couldn’t until we saw the doctor but were told we’d be next in. We’ve since seen person after person come and leave within an hour of their entry when they reckon we could be here for another 2 hours. I repeat, do not waste your time. It’s is 100% worth a painful and agonising night then to wait for your local GP to open, then to wait here with 0 pain relief or attention.
