Really welcoming fully vegan cafe and warm place with good vegan selection, teas, coffee and alcohol. Good little back garden for when the weather is right. The food is really tasty, presented well and comes fairly quick! Would like a slightly bigger portion but other wise delicious.

Always a wonderful location to visit. Been eating here for over 20 years at least. Returned after a long time this weekend to discover it thankfully remains the same and not devoured by local developments in Bethnal Green! Super tasty food choices, all healthy vegan options. Sat outside in the garden and felt a world away from the hustle of everyday life outside on the main streets. It's a wonderful little mecca to relax for a moment. I love the large salads and cakes. Yes, I can't resist the sweet treats :-)

Don’t get into London as a couple often, so we always research for the best vegan food before committing to travel and eat. Several websites had this café as ‘number 2’ on their list of best places for a vegan breakfast. It had mixed reviews and there’s always idiots who post, so thought we’d give it a chance, so here goes …. ‘Full English Breakfast’ - It looked good! The mushroom, tomato and toast were nice. I can accept a shop bought processed sausage as they’re really difficult to make, but a Linda McCartney sausage??? They’re so bready, dry and dated you’d think the big GC would upgrade, especially when it costs a tenner? The beans were pretty bland, the potatoes also bland and the kale was mushy. What really disappointed us was the scrambled tofu - it was tasteless and the carrot didn’t add (could have been blanched as far as we could tell as it provide zero flavour). I finished it, so it wasn’t a disaster, but very ‘bland’ overall. ‘????’ - It looked good too - bags of colour but completely unbalanced. The toasted ciabatta was nice as was the cucumber ‘dip’ in the middle. The beetroot hummus was delicious as was the roasted veg and jackfruit in the middle, but the rest was odd. She loves anything pickled but the red cabbage was even too much for her. The falafel cakes were hard and having being warmed up, they were dry and pretty unpalatable to both of us. If you didn’t know better, you’d have believed they’d thrown whatever they had left onto a plate to fill it. Overall, there were some delights in this rather eclectic plate of food but it was confusing, lost and went unfinished. ‘Dirty Chai’ - Wowwee. What a difference a shot of espresso makes. Even if you don’t like coffee, try it - it just adds a twist. We’ll done you - my new fave treat. ‘Juices’ - Amazing. The green one with apple, spinach, ginger, lemon and cucumber was uplifting. The pineapple orange and carrot a great breakfast drink. Sitting in the back garden on a sunny Sunday morning gave the place a relaxed, sedate, get away from it all feel, but neither this, the amazing dirty chai or wonderful juices could make up for the mediocre (at best) breakfasts. Sadly, with so much choice, we’ll not be back and won’t recommend. Sorry 😞

The Gallery Cafe is one of those rare oases in the city. Its garden is quite large with a nice lawn and beautiful trees. The food served is delicious. Some of my friends didn't like the sausages in the full English breakfast because they were too close to those minced meat sausages they didn't like when they still ate meat. I devoured them :-)

This is my favourite breakfast place if I'm in London. During the summer you can find a perfect spot in front of the cafe or in the backyard. The most important 5-star motivation is the food. The food (vegan) is awesome. Also my not vegetarian-friend was impressed and satisfied. Also as the most importent start of the day is coffee. The coffee is perfect and there are also vegan cappuccino's and flat white coffees for the special coffee lovers. The staff is also very helpful and friendly and love and you can find some (local) art at this cafe. Just an awesome place I hope to visit soon again. Cheers

Nice stuff and a well range of choices, and all vegan! I had a turmeric latte which was very nice. As being in a old house and a gallery the bar looks unfurnished and cold, but during the summer you have a fantastic view of the garden and you can eat/drink in the garden as well. I'll try the breakfast for sure one day!

Very excited about this place and the idea of a vegan English breakfast. When we walked in we weren't greeted, more accurately we were completely ignored. It's not like it was busy either. The menu that only has 5 items was "sold out" of two. 10 minutes after opening. Leaving the options of porridge, special porridge, or avocado toast. If your going to risk a visit here, maybe call before hand to see if they have any food.

Great vegan cafe with nice 'healthy' options. I chose a small salad plate food where one can add 4 options - these are limited though and would be good to stretch it out (the large plate has falafel and other extras you cannot choose on the small). Was a good lunch, but could be tastier with sauces or more seasoning. The cake my friend had was a bit on the dry side but fine with the nice latte.

The best chai tea latte I've ever had! It tasted homemade for me. Loved the back garden especially during the warm weather last Saturday. The staff are very nice and friendly.

Wonderful vegan restaurant, fantastic food every time. Unfortunately most of their savoury food was sold out by the time we went there and when they changed over to the lunch menu, one of the mains sold out instantly. Hopefully they make more of the savoury food at the weekends. Regardless of things selling out, I would go here every time I'm in Bethnal Green

Very nice and cozy place to enjoy a coffee with oat milk and vegan food! super nice staff and good wifi to stay there for hours working on your computer. You may share a table but they are large and people going there super cool. at the evening they have some beautiful lights that will maje the place even cozier.

What a cutie! This was our first choice to have brunch on a sunny Saturday in London. The English breakfast was beyond perfect with the grilled tempeh, scrambled tofu, the spicy potatoes crunchy and soft with the fresh tomatoes on the side… yummy. Also, we asked the bread with the tofu and hollandaise sauce and, I cannot describe it better than: marvelous. To finish, we tried the blondie and the lemon cake. The blondie was delicious without a lot of sugar which was a huge highlight for me 🌱💚

It’s a nice place to have a tea or coffee. They normally have a tasteful music going on on the background. Their breakfast selection it’s not great, and sometimes the kitchen staff overcook the ingredients. There are normally lots of fellas working behind the screen of their laptops in this café, very hipster lifestyle.

Absolutely wonderful coffee, even though rather pricey I can disregard that because the taste is pretty good. I have been going to this cafe for a while now and I can't help but notice the staff and rather unfriendly. With quite a sweet interior I wouldn't mind sitting in sometimes but with their sour attitude I'd rather not. No smiles, no hello, just an overall quite unwelcoming attitude. On two occasions now, staff have got my order wrong (which is ok everybody makes mistakes) but rather than an apology and a smile it seemed like I was inconveniencing them and it was my fault that they misheard! Won't be returning anytime soon!

I'd been here 4 or 5 years ago and immediately fell in love with the location and food. My first stop has been the Gallery Cafe since I really missed it and looked forward to get back - we ordered the Full English Breakfast twice, a flat white and a hot chocolate. The drinks were great but the breakfast wasn't what I remembered. I asked the counter lady (which has been quiet uninterested and harsh) if it's served with Linda's sausages still - she approved - but it came with totally different and very disappointing herb (?) sausages. The scrambled tofu has been more like a curry explosion than a substitute to an egg. The whole food has been over spiced - I'm allergic to chili so I couldn't eat much of it and even my mum didn't really enjoy the taste. I remembered the English Breakfast perfect and adapted it to my own Cafe but this experience has been so sad!

Unfortunately we felt like this was the kind of place that gives vegan food a bad name. We were given dry bread with our full English breakfast and there was no sign of the baked beans or scrambled tofu. The pancakes were under baked and inedible. And the porridge was tasteless and watery. I'd say you are safe to have a drink here but would not recommend the food!

Pros: I loved the range of options on the menu and the creative options offered. Good vibe in the restaurant Cons: Food & Drink - I would agree with others on the notes about coffee and food flavour. Coffee was ok but I felt was quite mild for my taste, but this is a preference, it was still a nice coffee. Food - ok value but I do agree with others about being overcooked. Service - agree with others in terms of the services one staff member on the till can be a little cold and disinterested.

I visited Gallery Cafe for a breakfast. The place is 100% vegan which is amazing, and there are plenty of breakfast options. There is a nice terrace and the customer service was friendly and fairly quick. 4 stars instead of 5 because the place looks a bit run down and needs refurbishment. Also, I ordered a cappuccino & the full English Breakfast. My cappuccino was great but the breakfast was just average. Next time I will try something else. Positive experience overall & will certainly be back.

Wow what a find, worth the walk from the Young V&A. Excellent vegan cafe, great staff and service. Good selection of drinks, cakes and food. Given an extra slice of cake as the first slice was apparently too small, I would have never known. Great prices and menu.

A brunch here is a must whenever we come to London. The English breakfast is very good, the croissant was excellent, however the pancakes were too chewy .. Also try the back garden to spend a relaxing moment eating good vegan food!

  • 4/5 R M. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely place (inside and garden) for good vegan breakfast. Might want to rethink the bread used for the toast though ? A bit chewy/bouncy. Sometimes "more basic" bread is just better for breakfast toast. Vegan "SC re ambled egg" v good though 🙂

Reliable place for vegan coffee and lunch - it's been here for years and continues to be welcoming and delicious. It has a community feel and is very embedded in the local landscape, linked to St Margaret's house which is worth researching if you live nearby. The garden out back is lovely if it's warm enough to sit outside. You can help yourself to tap water from the little faucet by the bar. Most recently (Sep 2022) I had Mac and cheese with focaccia garlic bread and a little salad - really great value at about £7.50.

lovely cosy cafe and felt homely inside! I enjoyed Marina's Curry which was tasty and filling, however my friend wasn't too satisfied with the vegan sausage sandwich she ordered - the sausage was quite undercooked. cappuccinos are very reasonably priced for london (£2.90!) and service from Zoey in particular was great. was super busy the whole time which shows how popular it is but the manager did seem a little stressed which changed the atmosphere a bit.

The venue is the main draw. Nice conservatory and outdoor seating. Occasional events. Food and drink are vegan. Prices were fair, and hot simple food was very filling.

Found this GREAT cafe just by luck really, I needed somewhere that was both vegan and gluten free, really liked the atmosphere of the place, friendly staff, decent prices and sounds like they do a range of different wellbeing classes as part of the organisation including acupuncture. I had GF pancakes with mixed fruit compot snd coconut yogurt, soo nice!!

We got dirty cups, so pointed it out and got new dirty cups handed. There was a stem of the avocado on our avocado toast and the super bowl was tasteless. But we loved the garden, very nice Atmosphere.

Very nice setting, little bit disorganised but food arrived soon enough. Coffee was lukewarm. Have suggested to change the Linda McCartney rehydrated soya sausages with the new birds eye pea protein sausages, they cook Better and are beettery for you. Will visit again.

Tasty food, all vegan, fair portions. It was raining so the outside sitting area was not available, and it was quite stuffy inside. Not wheelchair accessible as there are some stairs at the entrance. The food is tastier than it looks.

The place is nice, the back garden is beautiful. We have been going here with our little daughter for years and we have loved it. However lately the quality of some food has dropped significantly. We can barely eat the banana cakes. The breakfast bowl couldn't be done with less care and it wasn't cheap. Since we love the place, we wish to go back if there will be more effort towards the quality of the food.

Let me just say that today visit and quick fix food turned out to be quite epic for 2 reasons. 1. SIMONE SIMONE SIMONEEEEE!!! pr. Lovely place with a nice big garden. Don't know if it's always like that, but should have more than one person at the counter—I feel for the barista who was on during my visit. A single person taking orders and making them one by one forms a long queue in a short time, and it's awkward holding up the line just by getting your drinks.

I used to love coming for brunch before the pandemic, and hadn't been back to eat since. It's such a great place to spend time on a sunny morning, the back garden is gorgeous and the coffee very nice. Just a heads up that the online menu is apparently not up to date (they're not doing pancakes anymore it seems) and a few things were not available. Overall, the food offer was less exciting than it used to be, but it makes sense that things change! Would still recommend for a drink and a piece of cake.

Amazing vegan food. Just come and try for yourself, you won't regret it! Ideal for a great brunch with friends. Try the vegan English breakfast if you get a chance, make sure not to come too late as it's so popular that it might be sold out shortly before brunch hours end...

Great vegan full (and filling) English with homemade beans, herby sausages, good bread and tasty scrambled tofu! Only downsides: did have to wait around 40 mins for it to come (nursing nice coffees so all good), tofu was a bit cold (rest was piping), sausages tiny bit too charred, didn't really get the plain and lightly cooked potatoes - surely could improve that component, and only got one leaf of the (nicely dressed) spinach. But still 5* for me as hard to come by such a comprehensive and generously portioned vegan breakfast, and appreciate challenges of keeping consistency with all those elements and an extremely busy Sunday!

The food looked and smelled amazing, but unfortunately almost an hour after ordering my food still had not arrived with the rest of my table's food. I was told it'd be a further 15 mins to wait as they had forgot to put the order in after I'd paid. I was offered a refund for my meal and left hungry. The chai latte I had was great though.

The worst experience I have had for a breakfast. All English breakfast was sold out, there was also not anymore hot chocolate, you had to pay and take your order on your own, it was cold inside and the spoons and glasses were really dirty. I will never recommend it. I forgot to mention that the croissant was horrible.
