Place where silver altar of Saint James the Apostle (Santiago) is. It is worth to see but you have buy a ticket in baptistery nearby. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.

This imposing cathedral is built in Romanesque style with three naves divided by stone pillars, a raised presbytery and crypt. The central nave has fourteenth century wooden ceiling. The Duomo, next to the beautiful bell tower. The church was subsequently re-named after San Zeno, who was much loved by the leading Longobard population. Other saints associated with this church are San Felice, San Ruffino and San Proculo.

It contains surprisingly large amount of art works, in particular the silver altar that is in a separate chapel. Get the audio guide and you will learn so much more about the art works and history of the cathedral. For example Boccaccio’s master, Dante’s close friend, Cino da Pistoia is buried there.

👍 The place is very interesting but weren't satisfied about the guide. That person wasn't maybe very clear in the explanation and also didn't wait for all the group to be near to start talking. We missed some parts and at the end we are confused about the story of the underground. It could have been b...
