The raw material of steak is good, but after cooking, it’s ruined. (AAA Rib steak 14oz with 35days aged is 36 CAD) I ordered a medium rare, but it tasted like medium or even medium well. The grilled smell is heavy, and even covered the steak. And the French fries is deeply deeply fried. The bread before main dish is also not good. If really want to try their steak, better make sure they could cook it as you want. Thanks for the restaurant's response, which is very brave and responsible, should be encouraged. Yes, I did give comment when I was right in the restaurant, and the waiter just showed "sorry for that but can't do anything for you". And also, I was expecting the waiter should wait for customer's response right after serving if the steak is served as requested. Unfortunately it didn't happen.

Unfortunately have to leave a 1* review for 2 main reasons. First of all, our food arrived (spouse and I) 20min before our child's plate. Yes, 20min. We had both finished our plates when the kid's portion mac n cheese arrived. We shared our respective plates with her while we waited... and waited. The waitress was kind and kept saying she would check up on the hold up but it still arrived 20min after our own meals. With a 2.5 year old at the table, so you can imagine how well that went... Also, during the entire time we were there, we were not offered / given a single water refill. We both ordered wine and cocktails but not once did anyone refill our water glasses. Seems like pretty basic stuff to me. Had the bill cost 30$, wouldn't care but this place is not cheap. I absolutely don't mind paying a premium price as long as the service goes with it. Absolutely not the case here, unfortunately. Food itself was good but as far as the experience, definitely not.

Initial entrance: we were told to walk upstairs to be seated if we please. As we walked upstairs, we were told there was no space; so we got sent down to the bottom floor. This was a red flag and lack of communication/logistics. Why would you send someone upstairs not knowing its full. Anyway me and my partner stayed positive throughout the entire process… but I would not go back to this place… the service was very slow.. we felt ignored at times.. We ordered: 20oz ribeye ($88) 16oz steak, forget the name ($56) (2) creme brulee (1) pasta ravioli dish (2) wine $300 all in with 11% tip/taxes. The food was good, server was professional, the price of the premium selection steak(s) were on the pricer side..only downfall is the wait time for the food was longer than expected. About $130/ person.

While the main course and appetizers were great, the dessert was unfortunately not that good, which is not a great way to end the dinner.

Such a wonderful restaurant! Beautiful decor and the service was amazing! Our waiter Alex was a charmer and made great recommendations. The Onion Soup left us speechless and deciding it was the best onion we ever had. Our steaks were slightly overdone but the Porto sauce made up for it. The desserts were outstanding my dark chocolate caramel lava cake was decadent and luscious all at the same time. We will defined be back when we return to Quebec City.

Not good. Went in looking at the menu outside without knowing what to expect and came out with subpar food, mediocre service and a very expensive bill for steak that was not worth the price. We came in and were given a seat at the bottom near the bar. Which in theory is fine if the service is at least good. Which it wasn't. We waited there for over 20 minutes before a server came, weren't even given water (I haven't been to a restaurant that doesn't give you water ...) and then were finally able to order food. It took forever to make, tasted worse than steak I could have made at home (and I'm not even a good cook) and then to top it off, was obscenely priced. Don't make my mistake, avoid this place.

Service was okay. Food took long time to come. Place is decorated in a nice traditional atmosphere. Drinks are delicious.

Hands down one of the best restaurants we have been to. The steaks were cooked to perfection. A bit of a wait to get your food but well worth it.

During our visit to Quebec City to celebrate my husband's birthday, we decided to dine at the highly acclaimed steakhouse in the old port, where I had made reservations for 8 pm on a Saturday night. As avid steak enthusiasts, we were eager for a delightful culinary experience, given the restaurant's top-notch reputation. Unfortunately, our evening did not unfold as smoothly as anticipated. To start our meal, we ordered the steak tartare, burrata, and onion soup. While the overall quality of the food was acceptable, we encountered a hiccup with the tartare, which arrived without crostinis. We brought this to the server's attention, and by the time the issue was addressed, it was already 9:45 pm—just 15 minutes before the kitchen closed. The prolonged wait for our appetizers dominated a significant portion of our dining experience. Feeling pressed for time, we hastily placed an order for steaks and a couple of glasses of wine. Additionally, we requested the sides to be packed in a to-go container (which they didn't do). Regrettably, the steak arrived late and cold, accompanied by fries that were stale, imparting an unpleasant oily taste. Furthermore, the wine, ordered before the steak, arrived a staggering half an hour late, adding to the overall frustration of the evening. Anyways, we rushed out of there without even having a cake for the birthday. Food was good, service not so much.

Wonderful window view of city, service was excellent and the food was very good. One of the best French onion soups I've had. The aged steak was tender. Good price point especially due to US dollar value.

The food was properly cooked and fairly well presented. Though I had reserved, we were advised that they had a large party coming in for 8pm (our reservation was for 6pm, we arrived early at 5:30pm). Waiter took a while to get to us, had a lot of trouble understanding anything we asked him, we had to repeat many times. They made a mistake with one of the appetizers and said it would take an extra 5 minutes, it took more like 10. The waiter did not return to replenish our drinks, when he finally did, it took over half an hour to get them and our meals were finished. One of the drinks (a beer) was wrong, but with how long it took to get, our guest ended up just keeping it, never offered to replenish any other drinks, though the glasses were empty. He could not understand to bring regular sparkling water with a few pieces of lemon and/or lime on the side, ordering that and sending it back for the requested water took at least 15 minutes. At 7:55pm he came to say they needed the table for 8pm, we could not finish our wine and were pushed out. Mentioned everything to the manager how unprofessional it came across that we took customers there but our business was not important enough. I will never recommend this place! You are in Old Quebec City and don't even have the decency to treat customers with any kind of respect!

I show up on Christmas Eve without a reservation and they managed to find me a table as i was alone. The food was soo delicious and the atmosphere so cozy, the waiters were very kind. It was my birthday and the kind waitress singed for me. I highly recommend for family gatherings.

Management was rude and demanded that we pay. My husband ordered the steak as per the server's recommendation. My husband complained and said that the meat was tough and could not chew it, she offered to change but he said that he didn't want it anymore. He started eating my spaghetti and meatballs and was almost finished when the manager brought another plate with the dinner. My husband said that he did not want it and that is when things turned awful. The manager raised his voice and told him that he had to pay. I paid just because I didn't like their tone and shouting. My husband was so upset that he walked out. This was supposed to be in celebration of my birthday. I do not recommend this restaurant. I read the responses to the complaints to the reviews. Yes, they will bring it to the attention of the restaurant management, seems like this is approach is not working.

Horrible breakfast. Potatoes soaked in grease and old. Scrambled eggs not cooked and smelled rotten. Bacon tasted days old. Sausage full of gristle. Toast was soggy not sure how you even accomplish this other than cooking it all at once then wrapping it over with something to sit for hours. Coffee was cold. Only edible thing on the plate was the fruit. Don’t eat here.

The meal was just OK, far from wow. The service was very long. To have the firs course we waited 45 minutes. Then I got overcooked tuna steak with burned mushrooms. At the end we ordered tall coffee and got filter coffe whoch tasted very bad

Waiter was incredibly good. Kitchen sent out all food cold. Vegetarian wife ordered vegetarian meatball dish and was sent out cold and with no meatballs. Waiter was embarrassed they sent it out that way offered a drink. But no meatballs, they were out. I ordered steak MR came out almost well and was an end cut with fat everywhere. Very poor quality and small. Sent both plates back. Daughter had steak as well MR but was served cold and rare. Very obvious our food had sat on the shelf for a while before the runners delivered it. Would have been okay with mistakes as I am in food service as well and have worked in kitchens for years. Stuff happens. What made it bad was manger lady walked up and without an apology or any even explanation just started rattling off what she was taking off the bill. Talked over me would not look at me. Finished her talk turned and walked away. The waiter however was more than apologetic. Was our last night in Quebec and ended on a poor note.

What an amazing restaurant! Great service and over the top wonderful food/steaks. The atmosphere is beautiful, overall very nice place. Or waiter was so friendly, kind and patient, he even went outside across the street in the freezing cold 40mph wind and hailed a cab for us! There really isn't anything negative I can say, it was Easter Sunday and we had a meal and experience we truly loved and won't forget. Highly recommend.

I have try breakfeast and diner there. Both were delicious, had a good service, many options on the menu and the ambiance was pleasant. The brunch there was also very nice, I hope it will come back with time.

Sadly this was the most disappointing culinary experience during our trip to Quebec. We were seated in a far obscure corner, eventhough the restaurant had ample seating for 2. We ordered drinks and food and then proceeded to wait 45 minutes receiving only bread. When our food did arrive, the plates were very hot indicating they sat under a heat lamp. My steak therefore was over cooked. I showed our server, who agreed that the steak was overcooked and plates were very hot. I sadly will not be returning as I felt for how empty the restaurant was, we could've been better served without delay and error. Once the food arrived corrected, it was good. However no gesture was made to appease the error beyond a verbal apology. My husband had finished his food and waited for me to receive and finish mine. He sat there not really having dinner with me. A disappointing experience.

I'm actually giving it 3.5 star because of the service and atmosphere. We went in November 2021. For the price, I was a little underwhelmed with the food. I've had better steaks that were less costly. We got the NY strip and Ribeye, and both were chewy. I like the char on my steak but my husband didn't, he said it was a bit bitter, but I didn't mind it. The steak sauce that accompanies it was actually very delicious, but if you didn't have that the steak wouldn't have been that flavorful. Otherwise, it was a nice evening out. Will say this reservations are needed to dine in.

Our first experience, we walked in, they asked if we had reservations, we acknowledged we did not and they sent us upstairs to see if there were any open tables. Once upstairs, one of the servers said all open tables were reserved. I don't understand how downstairs didn't know this information. Following day, we made reservations for 630pm, and arrived on time. We were sent upstairs and our server asked if we wanted to be spoken to in English or French , we said English and he showed us to a table, we asked if we could sit at table next to us at window, to which he advised it was reserved for a reservation. We sat down and began to look over menu and drinks and were ignored for 30 minutes. When server finally came back, we mentioned about sitting and waiting 30 minutes and he asked if anyone came by and we said no, he replied, I guess I can take your order. He offered no apology. We ordered our cocktails, which came quick enough. Upon his return to take our order, he spoke in French and then said, oh yeah, you are English! My husband speaks French but I do not. He spoke to my husband in French. I mentioned I had a dairy allergy and that we wanted to share the shrimp appetizer and does the foamy butter come on the side, he said yes we could put it on the side but when served it was not on the side. We sent it back and it was taken off our bill. We both had steak, cooked perfectly, rest of meal was delicious. We would not go back, although food was good, service was terrible.

Maitre d' was very accomodating, waiter was attentive without being obtrusive. We spoke with them in English and French, and they were fluently bilingual. The room was tastefully decorated in wood and brass, which gave it a warm vintage feel. Table settings were high end. The steaks were done to our liking, the sides and dessert were delicious. Bathrooms near the bar were clean but a little old. Prices for the steak were reasonable for a touristy place. But some cuts were very high in price, so choose carefully. Overall, we'd go back.

This place has some great breakfast food. I definitely recommend the eggs Benedict here. The service was nice. They accept cards or allow you to charge to the room.

We were tourists in Quebec City this weekend. After walking around downtown we finally decided to have our first dinner in Quebec City at the Beffroi Steakhouse. I eat a lot of steak and I figured the best place to get a proper steak would be a steakhouse. You would think a STEAKHOUSE would know how to cook a steak to MEDIUM. After I showed the raw steak to my server he took it back and they cooked it some more, but when it came back it just tasted very burnt on the outside and dry on the inside - not good. I couldn't eat it. My boyfriend had already finished his meal by that point. I just asked for a refund on the meal, and went without dinner that night. Also, I want to mention that when we walked in, the employee on the main floor told us to go upstairs, and when we went upstairs the employee was on the phone and did not even acknowledge us. Even after she hung up the phone and we asked her for a table for two, and the phone rang again, she picked it up and ignored us again!!! This was SO RUDE - me and my boyfriend should have walked out right then and there. We asked to sit upstairs by the window and instead got put in the basement. Not a good experience and will not good back.

We waited a long time for our food to arrive and when it did it was cold. I believe it was microwaved to heat it up. When spending 46 dollars on a steak you expect it to have flavor and be mouth watering. This was not the case with our food. The server was very good and very busy. It was not her fault that the food was cold. We did receive a complimentary dessert because of our anniversary and because they were out of the dessert we really wanted.

Had the 12oz steak frite dish. It comes with a choice of sauce and a small side salad. You also get complimentary bread rolls. The steak was dry and the dish was served tepid. The pepper sauce however was super tasty.

Unfortunately, worst meal of trip by far. Ordered "prime rib", lobster mac and shrimp provencal appetizer. The appetizer was decent, but not fantastic. We ordered a bottle of wine, and after struggling to open it - the waiter kept sticking his fingers down into the wine to get bits of the cork. Off-putting to the point of unsanitary. We moved on to the main course. We both took one bite of the Mac and realized something was wrong. Unsure if the lobster had gone bad or it was just a poor execution. We sent it back immediately, which seemed to confuse the waiter. He didn't apologize, or ask if we needed a substitute. He just seemed confused that we rejected it immediately. He picked it up and just sort of stood there before wandering off. The steak was actually a grilled rib-eye preparation vs slow cook prime rib. The cut of meat was sub standard and slightly over cooked. That said, the flavor was still pretty good. We ate it because there was nothing else & the waiter seemed to now be avoiding us. I got the check from the hostess and they had removed the Mac. Bottom line, servers are poorly trained, unsure what happened to the fairly basic Mac and cheese. Steak not quite as advertised (I see similar reviews below but missed before I went). Skip this place, head to Le Hobbit or similar.

Atmosphere was very nice. Only two other tables while we ate. Had to wait over an hour for food though. Looked like priority was given for hotel orders over patrons. Service was ok. Food was good. Steak was yummy but not seasoned. Duck was very good. Menu was very well priced. Could see view of kitchen which was cool but the cross contamination was worrisome. Same utensils used for seafood, steak, shrimp, etc.

As advertised- if your looking for a fine dining spot in old Quebec, Then you don't want to miss this place. We got the surf and turf (the steak came nicely charred (they use charcoal) with a medium juicy center) - Also got the ribs which were fall off the bone and full of flavour (could have had a little less sauce) Nice and friendly staff.

Food was delicious, we did have a little wait but the place was packed. Our group had a great time, and Our server louis Charles I believe was his name was wonderful and easy going. We all would recommend and come back if we are ever in Quebec city again.
