Spectacular display of the history of the battle on The Plains of Abraham. Artistic deputation of some of the great historical figures explained via audio tour. Highly educational and not boring. Amazing movie telling the story of the epic battle…plays in both French and English depending on time. Knowledgeable, friendly staff dressed in period costumes and bilingual. Interactive displays to keep children interested as well. Clean, bright. A gem!

The presentations and displays are excellent. The uniforms on display are representative of all involved in the conflict. Taken together with other historical presentations around the city really gives a full picture of the challenges of living here in those early days. The artifacts uncovered in archaeological excavations helps to connect with common people living day to day. I commend this museum to anyone with an interest in Canadian history and heritage..

Amazing place to learn about history. Kids and adults would enjoy equally. Museum is quite economical. Easy access via bus. Car parking available at the site for 9$. The movie of 30 mins was worth a round up of history of battles. Has a small yet interesting souvenir shop as well.

We didn't get to see anything because we were informed by the lady 40 minutes before closing that we should have arrived before 3:30pm, because the museum takes 1hr and a half to see. Not sure if this was really the procedure but I just want to warn people especially foreign tourists like us to plan accordingly because the posted operating hours on Google and the door are both false.

Very immersive experience, well worth the time especially if you're into military history. A wonderful artistic surprise awaits at the back part. Then enjoy the walk across history outside on the plains. Nicely done from someone who has been a geek about the 7 Yrs War since a young age.

An immersive experience that has no equivalent anywhere else. The museum is filled with artifacts and accurate reproductions of the French and Indian War (Guerre de la Conquête) depicting the lives of French and English soldiers, Canadian milicians, and Indian warriors between 1754 and 1763. Pictures speak for themselves. As a history buff (particularly the seven years war), I was delighted by this museum and highly impressed. If there is one museum you should visit in Québec, that's the one. The staff is very nice and helpful.

For a child with a short attention span this is a pretty nice way to kill time as the museum is small with many interactive elements. But as a museum, it does not have enough artifacts and most the items are reproductions. The cost should not $16 per person. The reception man was very pleasant and helpful. If you travel to a British/French war battlefield museum in Canada I recommend Fort York in Toronto

For the size of the building, I felt overall a little underwhelmed by the what was available to be seen. If your legs allow, just take the stairs between the levels - the elevator seemed incredibly slow. The display of arts and crafts done by children, located on the entry level, showed an impressive level of skill. The included bus tour of the Plains of Abraham itself was quite enjoyable, with the guide dressed up in period costume and playing the role of a historical figure while delivering the commentary. This was probably the highlight of the museum visit for me.

I hiked up over the Citadel to the Museum, the restoration work on the fortifications is massive. The museum was interesting although a little sparse, most disappointing was the film about the 7 years war and battles in the area. It was narrated ONLY IN FRENCH! Museums are tourist attractions, this is a missed opportunity to educate others about the battles that laid the foundation for our country. If Francophones want to retain their language and culture they need to realize that education is the best method, and that means making information accessable in English as well as French.

Recommended. Great museum and lots of interesting items. Lots of interesting history. Staff are very helpful. Interactive and 3d movie about the battles is an extra bonus. Very reasonable prices. Our tour was very interactive and interesting. The tour guide was very informative, funny, and stopped at various locations to explain the Plains of Abraham, and the battles that happened. The tour drives around the entire Plains of Abraham, and stops at different locations. Very clean and well maintained. Our tour guide interacts with the children and people on board, to make it funny and more enjoyable. Kid friendly.

Beautiful park with an esplanade in front of the Musée de Armes, and a short distance from the Parliament of Quebec and the Citadel. It also has beautiful views of the river and paths with good spots for photos.

A jolly walk through history. Every visitor to Q-City must stop at the museum for an informative session on the war at the plains of Abraham and other wars between the French and the British.

I never knew the history of the Plains of Abraham until I went to this museum. The rich history, and the culture and the detailed information on history was above and beyond and phenomenal. The stories and the visual presentation literally makes you feel like you were there in history. I loved every minute of visiting this museum, and would definitely come back and all my friends and family to come to this museum to learn the rich history that beautiful Quebec has to offer

This museum was incredible! It may not be the biggest but they make up for it with interactive exhibits. I had a lot of fun but my ten year old had such a great time. We both really got a lot out of it and the staff were really kind. Probably our favorite touristy thing we did on our visit.

Awesome exhibit you can actually interact with and the film portion is well done. Our guide was very committed to his character and my kids enjoyed the tour. They also rent sleds which my students loved getting to play with after!

We toured the museum, interactive and nice for kids. Lots of history. The best for me was the bus ride with "Abraham". The guide drove us around and told us stories and Abraham and how the area was named, the battles fought there in the 1700's and how the area has evolved. The bus as air-conditioned, so that's a bonus on a hot day. Walking around the viewpoints is worth the steps.

Amazing during winter! The plains of Abraham is a must-visit place for tourists. For residents, it had a lot of fun stuff both during summer and winter (glissades/slides etc) You may rent a tapis/carpet in the Museum.

Small museum but great exhibit. A good place to start in exploring the city of Quebec to learn about the history of the city and the formation of Canada. Have an art exhibit on the main floor and artifacts display on the third and second floor. Don't miss the informative video which runs in both english and french. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.

Excellent museum. Worth spending just over 2 hours here. There is a replaying video on the top floor both in English and French (at different times).

Fantastic museum with interesting range of artefacts and historical information about the war between France/UK over possession of land in Canada. We watched the 30 minute film which we managed to follow even though our French is pretty basic.

Good for kids.. projection is also nice and an interactive museum. You get a brief idea of the place, would suggest as one of the first stops. Also the parking is very convenient and no since it's 24hrs 365 days we used it as our main parking for the whole 2 days trip

Well done. We had the extended family of six, from grands to age 8, and everyone was fascinated. We love learning history. I felt this was a balanced presentation, including indigenous perspectives which weren't there last time I went many years ago. Overall - great.

The video (30mins) explaining the battle was very good. The museum was interactive so good for good and quite small so you can do in less rhan an hour. Very informative but not boring

  • 4/5 Erin P. 2 years ago on Google
The good: the 30 minute video is high quality, the exhibition of uniforms, the small display of 'law and order', the map of skirmishes/battles to give perspective on the region. Needs improvement: the exhibits lack depth and there are many opportunities to enrich the content. For example, there's a reference to rationing food - why not show approx what/how little that food was?

  • 5/5 Michael J. 2 years ago on Google
They really had it all. It was surprisingly excellent. Located right by the Plains, where the British won the Battle of Quebec in 1759, its interpreters are great. You also get entrance to the Martelo tower which is a short walk away and every bit as worth it.

  • 2/5 Matt G. 2 years ago on Google
The only redeeming feature of the museum was seeing the tower (which I believe is closed after labor day). The museum exhibit itself was lacking substance. Further, the documentary video was of low production quality and lacked a narrative.

  • 1/5 Evan B. 2 years ago on Google
What a waste of money. Very Expensive with limited artifacts of historical significance. Not to mention to start off the experience you are herded into a tiny room with really nothing to learn about other than a variety of old whiskey barrels and grade school level material and explanations. All the while you’re waiting to get into a low budget level film/cartoon with a gigantic wooden beam in front of the screen. This “film” which is narrated by stereotypical figures with no real storyline or indication of which figure is speaking leaves you confused and underwhelmed. If you are expecting an authentic experience book yourself a private walking tour of the grounds. The museum is a waste of time.

Good museum to learn about the Quebec war history. The video did a good job explaining the war and the exhibits contains war uniforms and items. Just wish there are more contents in the exhibits as it only takes an hour to go through the video and exhibitions.

The guy explained a lot about the tools that the people used during the battles , and there was a very interesting documentary for about 25 min!

Good little museum with a theater and interactive displays that tell of the war between the French and Indigenous peoples vs the British. Good for families. Takes about an hour to two tops to see it.

The right place to learn about the history of Quebec and Canada. We entered through Battlefields Park, discovered the Art Museum, then continued to the Plains of Abrahams museum.... The entrance fee covers a bus tour as well, but when we arrived all the tours were sold out. The good thing, is you can come back the next day to finish your tour..just keep your receipt.

Good rundown in the french and English and the war. Very interesting.

  • 5/5 Guerlens Robert F. 2 years ago on Google
Amazing... there is interactive games and people are there to answer all your questions and teach you the 40 steps to load that old gun... it so was so fun we have learned a lot... and there is that 4D movie about the war... it was well worth that 15$/person

  • 4/5 Laura C. 1 year ago on Google
Some of the exhibits are geared towards children; others not. The film about the battles provides interesting information, although it runs too long for children’s attention spans. Included in the entry fee is entry to Martello Tower 1, a bit of a walk away from the museum. I found the tower more interesting than the museum. At the tower, you’re given a screen and headphones, which convey the construction of the tower and the life of soldiers posted there.

An educational museum that provided lots of information about the historic battle site and Quebec City history. Although both provided some unique information, we would recommend viewing EITHER the exhibits or taking the shuttle tour - doing both felt a bit redundant. Our shuttle guide was very funny and made the ride enjoyable despite the relative lack of new information. Worth a stop if you're a history buff.

A very interesting museum with some interesting exhibits. The staff were very good.

  • 5/5 Jerry K. 1 year ago on Google
Nice museum though there are not many exhibits so you can watch the 30 min film and tour the rest of the museum in about an hour - the artist sculptures on the first floor made out of paper are powerful when you read the words

Interesting little museum that adds to the understanding of the site
