This fortification entrance is nicely lit up at night as you walk through one of the main roads where pedestrians can walk through at night. Through the entrance on the "inside" part of the town is a myriad of restaurants and shops, and on the other is a park with a stage where live bands play at night.

The night view of the city from this gate was stunning. The stairways are open, and you can walk up to the top of the gate. A must-visit place for a nice photo.

You can climb up to the old Quebec City walls, to see the combination between the old Quebec and the modern building outside the gate. You can walk until the Kent date which is closed due to maintenance.

A great way to experience the old Quebec City walls. Take the stairs up to the ramparts, giving a vantage point view of Artillery Park. Cannons lined up on the walls, but be careful not to lean over as it is quite a steep drop down to the street. City parking available nearby with affordable maximum daily limit.

The gate looks new. I like so much . For me its only about the feeling, I like history and read everything about this city. And this gate gave me the feeling of the old times and how they were leaving in that time. The cannons in the gate is amazing. It will be so nice is the city got Mounted police and let them walk around the city it will play the role to give the old times image. bty the city is so safe I loved it so much

The Gate of St.John, it’s the entry from Rue Saint-Jean to the fortified city. You can walk up the gate steps and along the ramparts and after, get down back to ground level, turn right and walk towards the barracks, Citadel, and Plains of Abraham on the banks of the St Lawrence river or continue straight and explore other monuments and places of interest such as the Notre-Dame, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Fairmont le Château Frontenac (see my review) Terrasse Dufferin or grab a bite at the many cafes and restaurants

A great place to visit. Lots of things to do as a tourist, tons of excellent places to eat at. We are hoping to return for another family vacation next summer.

A beautiful historical place to visit during the day or at night both times are great, while walking on the tiled road and passing under the ancient gate you'll feel like time traveling. there are tens of restaurants around and many many activities may be happening around such as drawing and playing live music and dancing. It’s a highly recommend place for sure.
