Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights with my significant other. We got a room facing Rue Saint-Jean but were surprised by how quiet the room was; looks like the hotel did a great job with their noise-cancelling windows. Check-in and check-out processes were smooth and expeditious. Location of the hotel is excellent, being just minutes away from all the main tourist attractions. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quebec City. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful hotel in Old Quebec in walking distance to lots of sites in Old Quebec. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are very nice. The King room with fireplace was a nice size room. The Continental breakfast served in the picnic basket is worth it!

We stayed here 10 years ago and loved it so much then that we wanted to come back. We stayed for 2 nights which was perfect! Be sure to get breakfast as it is delivered to your room and hung on your door in a basket! The rooms are quaint but comfy! Lovely lounge to sit in as well! Our whole experience here has been lovely! I highly recommend it!

I 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Québec City! Had an absolutely wonderful time. The room was very clean and cozy, the staff were so helpful and friendly, the breakfast delivered to my door in the morning was great, and I loved the lounge area with the coffee machine. Rooms have a coffee maker and a mini fridge which was appreciated, as well as the free bottled water (in a glass bottle which was refilled). Also, the restaurant connected to the hotel, Bistro Hortus, was delicious. The hotel is also in a fantastic location, just a quick walk from so many things. Would definitely stay here again!

Stayed there with family 7/17-7/22/23. Great location to many sights, our room was very comfortable and nicely appointed. Loved the Breakfast Basket. The front desk staff gets 5 stars for their attentiveness and personal attention to each guest that comes in. I've not seen that in the States. The Housekeeping staff was friendly, polite and accommodating. The owners of this hotel take pride in their hotel and those who work there. We hope to come back some time. Wonderful vacationexperience.

Fabulous experience!!! Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room had great character, loved the picnic basket breakfast delivered to the room each morning. Location is perfect for all there is to do and see in the city…you really are in the heart of it all. Parking was close and convenient. Complimentary espresso based drinks in the lounge was an added bonus.

This is a gem of a hotel! First it is in an ideal location in the city. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. The Salon is lovely with a great espresso machine, filtered water and great games. The staff are EXCEPTIONAL, warm, welcoming, very helpful and just friendly. We’ve stayed at very highly rated hotels and none have come close to this truly wonderful hotel. We will be back and we highly recommend to anyone traveling to this beautiful city.

This hotel was wonderful. It is walking distance to everything in old Québec. The staff were very kind, and the breakfast baskets on the door hook were unique and practical. The check in staff were very accommodating in both French and English. The restaurant is also top notch with excellent food. If I come back to this region this is where I am staying! Trying to come up with something negative to say to balance out this review but I honestly can't.

Fantastic place. Amazing staff who are friendly and bilingual. The room was beautiful. Right in the heart of old Quebec. Parking not too far at City Hall. Great location, a large bath tub. Water and coffee provided with a place to fill up water bottles.

This was a great experience! We are a mid-60's couple from Northwest Illinois and spent 4 nights here. Quebec City is awesome. The location of this smaller hotel is excellent. There are 3 nice pubs within 1 block that have live music nightly. We loved our Deluxe King room 404....it was just right. I'm not a breakfast person ....but they deliver this picnic basket full of great breakfast treats to a hook on your door each morning - I looked forward to this each morning after day 1. They have this really cool coffee machine on the first floor in the public area - I made multiple trips each morning. The price for the room was excellent.....excellent. Hotel Du Vieux is very fortunate to have some great staff at their front desk. There was a man there that checked us in and we enjoyed greatly meeting him each day - he was like an old friend - maybe named Pierre ..or something like that. Pillows were a bit tall. I would definitely go back !

I cannot say enough about this wonderful hotel. I deliberately avoided chain hotels and wanted to stay inside the walls in Old Quebec. Everything about the hotel turned out to be well above my expectations. We arrived very early before check-in, but they said our rooms were ready and we could go up. I was so happy. We were exhausted after our flight. I was very surprised at how beautiful, quaint, quiet, and spotlessly clean the rooms were. The beds are also very comfortable. The front desk staff were lovely. I was concerned about our inability to speak French, but they spoke English perfectly. There is a gorgeous lounge area down the hall from the front desk where you can enjoy a coffee, or several, from their self-serve coffee machine that makes espresso, cappuccinos, or whatever you like to your heart's content. (Be sure to make a reservation to eat at Bistro Hortus next door. We had the best brunch I've ever had in my life!) The hotel is in a perfect location close to fabulous restaurants and shops, and a short, although hilly, walk to the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac and the beautiful park and shops there. You can then take the Funicular and ride down to the lower city which is stunning. Thank you to the whole team there, we had a wonderful visit. I would recommend this hotel to absolutely everyone! Now I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

The Hotel du Vieux-Quebec provides impeccable comfort with historical character. The staff and service are equally outstanding. Be sure to book your reservation through the hotel's official website to get the delicious basket breakfast!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel du Vieux Quebec, a unique establishment nestled in the heart of Old Quebec. The hotel exudes a distinctive charm and an aura of history that blends seamlessly with modern comforts and conveniences, ensuring a stay that's both memorable and relaxing. Upon arrival, my attention was immediately drawn to the intricate architectural details of this historic hotel, reminiscent of Quebec's rich past. Yet, it was the warm, welcoming staff that truly set the tone for the duration of my stay. From the reception to the housekeeping team, every member of the staff was attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. They went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and satisfaction, often anticipating my needs before I even had to ask. The rooms were spacious, clean, and well-maintained, with plush bedding and modern bathrooms. The decor tastefully combined elements of Old Quebec's character with contemporary touches, creating a delightful blend of past and present. What really stood out was the lounge area. This cozy space was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Quebec City. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with comfortable seating and a wide range of books and board games to enjoy. Complimentary hot beverages were a thoughtful touch, adding to the overall homely feel. The hotel's location couldn't be more perfect. Situated in the heart of Old Quebec, it was just a stone's throw away from some of the city's most renowned attractions, such as the Château Frontenac and the Quartier Petit Champlain. Numerous quaint shops, local cafes, and gourmet restaurants were within walking distance, making it easy to fully immerse in the local culture. The Hotel du Vieux Quebec managed to provide a true Quebecois experience through their dedicated service, comfortable accommodations, and an unbeatable location. I can confidently say that this was one of the best hotel experiences I've had to date, and I eagerly look forward to my next visit. If you’re planning a visit to Quebec City and want to experience the best of what Old Quebec has to offer, the Hotel du Vieux Quebec should definitely be on top of your list. Its unique blend of history, comfort, hospitality, and location is guaranteed to make your stay a delightful and memorable one.

I will give 6 out of 5. A boutique hotel located in the central of old town. Plenty of eateries, places of interests are within walking distance. Room is spotless clean, staff were extremely helpful and friendly. A lounge area provide coffee and fruits daily. This place is one of the highlight of our two days stay in Quebec City.

Wonderful stay centrally located in Old Quebec. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with plenty of USB outlets. Beds are firm. Housekeeping was very attentive and detailed in maintaining our rooms. Our family enjoyed the lounge for games, puzzles and coffees. The in room breakfast service was a top notch treat. During our stay our host and front desk clerk Pierrot was obliging and helpful with recommendations and assisting with services. It was always a delight to see him in the evening. We had an early departure at 430A and he was kind enough to not only arrange taxi services for two cars but also make sure to send us with breakfast care packages for our travels. We would happily stay here any time.

We started our Quebec City trip at this absolute gem! Our room was amazing, but the staff was even better!! I saved the best for last...make sure you eat at the Hotel restaurant. Farm to table and everything was perfect!! This place is the definition of polite! You're welcome!

Outstanding staff. Very friendly and helpful. The location was top-notch. Loved the guest lounge where we could fill up water bottles and even get a cup of coffee or hot chocolate. Our room with two beds was very spacious. Although there are air filters around hotel, room had subtle smell, but once we opened window, it was not noticeable at all. Cleaning staff came daily and when we interacted with her once, she was delightful. Also had breakfast delivery to our door with yummy croissants/pastries every morning. This boutique hotel was a highlight to our stay in Quebec City.

We had a great experience here. We especially enjoyed the suggested walking tour itinerary that was thoughtfully written by the owner. I wish we had looked at this earlier in our stay - it was interesting and very informative. The breakfast basket, hung on our door each morning, was awesome: the croissants, jam, yogurt, orange juice and cheese sustained us so that we usually only ate out for one big meal between lunch and dinner. We also took advantage of the complimentary fruit and coffee in the lobby area as well as filling our water bottle before our walks each day. The rooms were immaculate and comfortable — and reasonably priced. The staff were welcoming and always ready with suggestions when we had questions. On one day when it rained heavily, almost non-stop, we took advantage of the small gym in the basement as well as the board games in the lobby area.

We had a mini honeymoon there. Stayed 3 nights. Room was great! Small but didn't spend much time there! Staff were very friendly and efficient when requests were made. The picnic basket breakfast was worth it! Very fresh and delicious baked goods, amazing to wake up too each morning!

Beautiful hotel, very friendly and helpful staff. We had the basement room for 2 nights and it was big and exceptionally clean. It felt like we were the first ones to use it as it was pristine. The bed was also very comfortable and the coffee in the room and in the common room was great. We would for sure stay here again if we are ever in Quebec again.

100% would go back here again. First time in Quebec and first time traveling with our baby and this hotel made all the different. - Amazing front desk service: understanding, flexible, and friendly - King size room is generously size: space to move around and hang out, even with crib. - Rainfall shower - Beautiful rooftop garden visible out the window on the top floor - Lounge area with free lemon water, fruit, and top notch coffee machine - Complimentary water in room - Good location with very nice walk ability - Environmentally forward hotel

I would give this place 6 stars out of 5. An 11 out of 10! They were so nice and accommodating! They were also a life and vacation saver! We had originally booked, what we thought was a quaint and European style hotel by the park, turned into nightmare. We felt disgusted and scrambled to find another place asap! We booked here at the very last minute around 9pm. They were so nice and genuinely sympathetic to our bad experience. They made our check in as quick, easy and as painless as possible. When we walked into this room we were so relieved and happy. Their location is amazing and in the heart of it all. They have beautiful clean rooms with a faux stone wall, 24/7 lounge with books, games, coffee and tea. They also had great in room coffee and tea! Amazing Staff, I can't say enough great things about them. They have parking near by with in and out privileges and the let us use the parking for a bit longer after we checked out so that we could do some last minute shopping and exploring. Whenever we come back to Quebec City this will be our goto and one and only hotel!

This hotel is right in the heart of Old Quebec City and is beautiful inside and out. We were warmly greeted by Pierrot at the front desk and he graciously answered all our questions. Every detail seemed to be thought through… down to the towel warmer in the bathroom. We loved our stay here!

  • 5/5 Josh D. 2 years ago on Google
Highly recommend staying here when visiting Québec City. The hospitality was evident upon booking. Camille went above and beyond when I asked for some ideas and suggestions on places to visit. This kind of extra care was followed through by the genuine attentiveness shown by Pierrot upon checking in. Our room was even upgraded without charge. The parking situation was explained very clearly even including a map and picture. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. The view of the busy street below was virtually silent with the noise cancelling feature of the room, it made for a very relaxing environment. Close to all great activities, wonderful restaurants, historic sites, cobblestone streets, artists alleyways, this hotel has the rating it does for very good reason.

Beautiful hotel, friendly staff, excellent location - we love staying at this hotel. I really miss the croissants! The lounge area downstairs with the fancy coffee machine came in handy after cold walks around the German Market. The staff gave us tips about places to eat. And we feasted like royalty on our daily picnic basket. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel.

This is our family’s go to hotel in Quebec City. Excellent staff fluent in French and English. Extremely helpful, and personable. They remember the small details that make a stay much more pleasant. Great location, and very accessible parking next door in underground parking garage. Tastefully renovated clean rooms. Won’t be disappointed.

Very clean, nice hotel. Parking should be included with the room though. However its not too excessive and the garage is close by.

My wife and I had a wonderful time. Very nice accommodations, super clean and neat. Every single detail is accounted for. Maybe the best part is how attentive the staff was. Especially Pierrot. Such a professional. And second is definitely the coffee. So delicious and free, too. Thank you!

The best part about the Hôtel du Vieux-Québec is it's location. All the famous places of Old Quebec city are at walkable distance. View from the window was nice (specially at night). Cleanliness was impressive. Staff was helpful and friendly. Really enjoyed their coffee in the lounging area. Loved how they presented the breakfast in cute little baskets. Parking was across the street (a couple of minutes walk). Overall had a great experience.

Great stay in Old Quebec City! We missed our arrival to the hotel by one day due to our Covid test results coming a day late. Since we had made a reservation for two nights, this meant we missed one night and instead stayed at a hotel in Vermont. I had informed the hotel of our one-day late arrival, and when we arrived in Quebec City, we were upgraded to a beautiful and large room, fit for a king and queen, which we really appreciate! Parking is off-site nearby. Breakfast came in a basket on a hook of our door - croissants, oj, yogurt with fruit. This saved us time in looking for breakfast outside the hotel. The hotel is charming and centrally located to all the sights inside the walled city. In addition to a fabulous room, hotel guests have access to a lounge downstairs with unlimited fresh espresso and coffee drinks and another place to lounge around. We also consider ourselves very fortunate in getting a table at the hotel's restaurant Bistro Hortus, where we ate dinner. The food was nicely prepared and we had an opportunity to sample some of Quebec's dishes. This was our 2nd stay at the hotel. Our first stay here was 10 years ago. It was fabulous then & fabulous now! Highly recommend.

Honestly, the location is the best thing about this hotel. The personnels were okay, and the breakfast was little disappointing comparing to other hotels that I've experienced for similar value. They give you some snacks in a cute basket, but the basket might be the best part of everything. Lighting is dim, but you will still be able to see dust and everything that you need to see. The lounge is very nice, but you won't really have time to lounge around as there are MANY things to do around the quarter. If you are bored, try hopping into one of those cruises. I failed, but if you make it, leave some reviews for that!

What a wonderful hotel! We spent 3 days there and were blown away by the experience. All the staff were so friendly and helpful and seemed to really care that we were having a great trip. The breakfast baskets delivered to the room were lovely and well worth the extra cost. The lounge was the perfect spot to begin our days with a latte and end our evenings chatting and making plans for our next adventures! We definitely will recommend staying here to anyone considering a trip to Quebec City!

A great hotel. Rooms are beautiful and clean. The bed so comfortable. Hotel is within walking distance to everything. We got the picnic breakfast delivered to our room. Some of the best pastries ever. Definitely would stay here again.

This hotel is wonderful! Small and easy to walk to Old Quebec it is the perfect refuge for couples. The staff is friendly and outgoing. The location excellent and the rooms are quiet and well appointed. 5stars!

Rooms are well set up, larger than you might expect with the location. Building is in the center of old town with nearly every major tourist destination within a ten minute walk. Parking is fast and easy, unload at the front and drive straight to a garage up the street, maybe 200m. Nice sitting room at the reception level and breakfast available.

The most perfect location, super nice and helpful front desk staff, beautiful property with a lovely library, business center, well appointed meeting room, coffee and tea service, gym and workout room. The room is beautiful and the bed is super comfortable (wish I could bring it home). I would definitely book this again. 7 minutes from the train station and in the heart of everything.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel and it's exactly what we wanted for our honeymoon. All the amenities that are needed are provided and the location is ideal. Very close to everywhere in downtown and the old Quebec area as well.

Stayed here recently on a road trip through eastern Canada. Loved the convenient location!! Walked to great dining...a great restaurant right next door...drinking and historical sights! Our room was very comfortable!!! Our biggest reason for our rating was the staff!!!! Everyone made us feel welcome! Especially Pierrot...who went out of his way to help us with travel suggestions for our trip to the Bay of Fundy!! We will definitely stay here again!!!!!

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful hotel, which is conveniently located very close to Old Quebec. We stayed for 3 glorious days and wish we had stayed longer. Everything about our stay was outstanding; from the amenities, beautiful lounge, and rooms themselves to the caring service provided by the professional, friendly, and helpful hotel staff. We would like to thank Nathan, "Tammy", and Sophie for all the help they provided throughout our stay. With a special shout out to Nathan for going above and beyond on the day we checked out; when he helped my husband find his way back to the hotel from the parking lot (after he discovered their was a new detour due to construction)! Thanks and hope to visit again soon!

My husband and I had our first visit to Quebec city to celebrate our anniversary. I researched online and decided on staying at this hotel in the heart of the downtown area. We were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful details and recently updated property. The amenities ranged from a beautiful lounge area downstairs complete with fireplace, a 24 hour espresso machine, and air filter machines on each floor. The staff at the reception desk were all very welcoming and we enjoyed some friendly conversation- especially the recommendations and insights from Pierre. We are looking forward to coming back next year to see the German Christmas market and explore even more of the city!!

Lovely hotel within walking distance of great food and shopping. Absolutely amazing staff, especially Vincent at the front desk. Modern, yet showcases the thick stone walls and other reminders of its history.

Absolutely amazing! 5 stars. From check-in to check-out, a stay at HVQ is a must. I stayed at the Hilton for half the trip but wished i stayed at HVQ for the full trip instead. Not only is the location of HVQ in Old Quebec perfect (walking distance to everything) but the service and amenities are perfect. Let me name a few; - Complimentary water (Hilton didn’t have that) - Waterfall style shower - Modern look in the room - Dimming light switches - USB ports everywhere - TV channel list (tells you which channels are ENG and FR) - Unlimited Tea/ Coffee in your room - A “common” room that is not just the lobby, but a separate room at the back of the hotel, where you can make yourself a coffee/espresso, have ice water, play board games or eat lunch with your family or just chill Parking is really easy, just a minute drive, heated and underground Highly recommend to anyone visiting Quebec city

Beautiful, clean, warm, quiet hotel, wonderful atmosphere, large comfortable room, and a nice common area with board games. The location is fantastic, just a short walk from all the major sights in old Quebec City. The little details were impressive. Chromecast in the rooms, awesome wifi, eco-friendly and sustainable thinking (including our floor being run on alternative energy). What more could you want?
