The owner of this hostel is a really creepy little man, likes to hang around with the guests who are 30 years his junior. I found him very rude seems like if your French speaking you should be ok otherwise you will get a cold reception

Great hostel. The host is super friendly and always up for a chat. The room is big and warm (I had a private room). The hostel is a 20 minute walk from Old Quebec, but in a trendy area with everything you need.

Place was near the train station. So that was great. However, it was dirty. Sheets had yellow stains at that body part section of the bed, pubic hair and girl hair on the beds. As for the washrooms, all of them... On all floors are dirty (used q-tips on the ground and even found a used condom on the floor for two days straight). And the water smells like rotten eggs. Good luck brushing your teeth. I've been to many other hostels around the world and around Canada... Seen two others near that same area, and this one was by far the worse. If rooms weren't 400$ a night last minute at hotels, I swear I would have left the second I saw what I saw.

AMAZING hostel, atmosphere, experience, and of course---Roberto/Oberto. Place is clean, you can buy your own beer, you can invite outside guests into the common room [ask permission first], etc. Srsly, you'll have a great stay in this hostel. Just amazing experience all around.

Owner of this hostel is a nice and hardworking fellow. He is maintaining it single handed from preparing breakfast to housekeeping. I will like to stay here if I come to quebec again.

An outstanding hostel. A friend and I stayed 5 nights in a 6-bed all female room. The whole space had such a warm and welcoming feel that I instantly felt like I was at home. The place is very clean and tastefully decorated. Every morning the owners personally make loads of pancakes and bread/biscuits for the guests along with an assortment of jam options, butter and coffee/tea, as included with the stay. A full shared kitchen and fridge is available for guests. Bedsheets and pillow are provided and some comforters were in the bedroom but I'm not sure if they are in every room (bring your own blanket just in case). There were also personal lockers in our room (bring your own lock). The location was perfect, the owners were super friendly and helpful, and the hostel itself was very high quality. I recommend this to anyone and would give it 10 stars if I could! I will definitely be coming back.

We were never told that it was closed from 1pm to 3pm, so imagine us wondering what to do with our big luggages by -10°C in Quebec... We asked for a private room (that we got), but you can hear everything that happens on the same floor, privacy... The shared bathroom has 2 showers, which is nice, but both of the handles to turn on the water stayed in our hands... To be honest you can still take a shower but it shows a lot on the quality of this place! Plus the heater located in this same bathroom burned one of our clothe (yay!) The breakfast is really basic, don't expect orange juice or chocolate. Well, it was cheap at least!

Probably the best hostel I've been to yet. The 6 dorm female room was pretty spacious, and the one bathroom for all 6 of us wasn't too bad. Unfortunately a girl who was clearly sick was also staying there, causing me to become extremely ill shortly after leaving.. The employees were very nice though, and over-all the experience was good. I'd highly recommend it even though it looks run-down from the outside.

I didn't stay here but I spent a little time here as my friend was a guest. I feel the need to write this review because the hostel I stayed in next door was so awful and the owner was so unfriendly compared to at Maeva where I was welcomed with a smile even though I wasn't even a guest! I didn't stay here because it was fully booked but I wish I had the opportunity. If it's a choice between here and La Belle Planète next door, do yourself a favour and stay here!

Excellent hostel for travellers, very close to the Gare du palais and popular bus routes - only a 10min ride on the #1 to Vieux Québec, and a 20min walk to the main street outside of the Citadel and the Plaines of Abraham. Staff is very nice, and held our bags when we arrived 12hrs early so we could explore the city. Pancake/waffle breakfast was yummy (and free!). BBQs are also held. Rooms are spacious with updated bathrooms. Lockers are metal and located inside the dorm room. Outlet locations were more or less good, but if you are in the 6bdrm female dorm, you may want to bring an extension cord! A bit noisy at night, and the neighbouring road is a bit sketchy, but there is a Starbucks nearby as well as Ashton's along two busy market streets. The bunks were also a bit low, so you have to crouch to sit up in bed - this caused pain after a while. Also, lots of stairs! Overall, I'd recommend this hostel, and I would return; I hope the WiFi is upgraded for next time, though.

Worst hostel I have ever stayed at, and I've stayed at a lot. There was absolutely no ventilation in an 8 bed room that had 9 people because they made a booking error. It was so hot no one could sleep except for one guy who snored all night and there were no fans or windows open, let alone ac. Wasn't expecting luxury, but I was expecting at least livability. Also, it's on a run down street and one of the ground floor dorm windows was broken with plastic taped over it. Do not recommend.

Great owners, great location, great price..met great people. But dont expect much..Can be hard to sleep as walls are thin, curtains dont keep sunlight out, and bunk beds are old.Kitchen is a great place to meet people but small, and bathroom are often full. If you keep your expectations low it could be great, but dont expect anything more than meeting a great community of people, and getting a so so nights sleep.

I was conned by the good reviews and regretted it the moment I saw my bed. It was after paying and there is no refund. This was the first time I encounter bed bugs after staying at so many hostels. I book this last minute, wished I had done more research..it's really a cheap place to stay if you are on a budget. It's really what you pay for.I was out looking for alternative accommodation the second day. Pans are all rusty to cook pancakes in. It's old, dirty every where. I must agree that the owners are nice people. But this is just not within my tolerable limit.by the way, the entrance is within a quiet alley, not good when you come back at night.

Nice place and very well located: the city center is just 10 min walking away! Should go and share with the owner: very helpful and nice!
