Buyer Beware. The photos this hotel showcases are not remotely close to real life. Travelodge by Wyndham Hotel & Convention Centre Quebec City is very old, tired, and needing a full demolition. The “suites” have ZERO WINDOWS, stairs in the middle of the room, and the bathrooms are crumbling apart. They attempted to update with new pillows and flooring, but you can’t hide the decrepit foundation. Every surface had significant damage; every wall, floor, corner, ceiling, everything was badly damaged. The bathrooms were at best renovated in 1980, and hallways feel like a 80’s hockey arena. Zero ambiance, zero comfort, overall terrible. We booked a room, advertised on Expedia as being “Wheelchair accessible” when it clearly wasn’t. When we asked for a suite without stairs, they did not have any to offer. We left as soon as we could, and at the time, the hotel promised us a refund. For over a week we have been trying to get a refund, but the manager of the hotel is coincidentally not available. We have called 11 times in 7 days, simply asking for the refund promised to us. Our recommendation is to avoid at all costs.

The entire hotel was damp and dilapidated. Our room smelled of pungent sewage, and the air conditioner barely cooled the room. This hotel is not worth the price. Staying at a motel at the side of the highway would be a better value. It’s the epitome of “lipstick on a pig”. It’s a VERY old hotel, that they have “renovated” by updating the foyer and adding some new pillows to the room. The core is still something very much from the 70’s and it shows. Also, I’m sceptical they purposely gave us a horrid room because we were English speaking.

I stayed for two nights during their renovation period, which I only noticed on the day of checkout when they were painting elevator door frames. The staff was polite, and the check-in team was both professional and friendly. They even offered me a 10% discount on breakfast due to the ongoing renovations. The room offered ample space, clean, and at a reasonable price. Situated on the 11th floor, it provided a view of the highway and connecting roads, though I barely heard any noise at night. The location is perfect, providing easy access to several areas. This was my first stay, and I would choose them again. While they have a small pool, I didn't have the chance to explore the fitness room. Plenty of free car parking is available in front of the hotel - well lit parking space.

Had to stop in Quebec on my road trip to Prince Edward Island due to snow and getting dark so early. Chose Travelodge because it was a cheap 3 star hotel. The first thing I was so grateful for was the free underground parking. Didn't have to worry about clearing off snow from my car in the morning. Check in was very pleasant because of the friendly staff. I barely speak French so I was pleased they all spoke English. Cons: Facilities work well but are old and the hotel needs some updating. The location is not walkable. There is nothing around except a Coreen BBQ restaurant. Pros The beds were very comfortable. Hotel is quiet. There is a fitness center. It was cheap

I had the experience of staying in the prestige suite. For the most part, it was amazing. You get 2 full bathrooms, one of which has a spa tub. You get a fireplace, a/c, dining room, living room and a king size bed. The downfall was that there was not enough towels for our 4day stay. I think you should be given fresh towels everyday, especially when you have the best suite in the hotel. The restaurant downstairs was amazing. Me and my girlfriend enjoyed the cheeseburger and the calamari. It was the best food ever, the chef is a genius.

For the price I paid (~$175), this place was well worth it. Big clean room, working AC, fan, and fridge, nothing was broken, and fast WiFi. The washroom was stocked but just missing a place to hang the used towels. We also didn't hear anyone on the neighbouring rooms. Service at the counter was VERY friendly. She really stressed the point that she would do anything else she possibly can to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. My only complaints would be the room's floor had all kinds of stains on it and the luggage trolleys always had one loose wheel that would rattle without some weight on it.

Much better than last year, during the power outage. The pool was disappointing: too cool for standing still, and too small for swimming to keep warm. Jules Verne was good for evening drinks and next day's breakfast. Good, friendly service.

Where to begin. On the plus side, the hotel is in a decent location and some of the staff were helpful and friendly. Oh...the showers are nice. On to the negatives - 1) the soundproofing is virtually non-existent and we could hear our neighbors talking as though they were in our room. 2) to counteract that in most hotels, we turn the fan on to add some white noise - which didn't work here. Despite being set to "On", the fan on the HVAC turned on only when the AC kicked on regardless of how it was set. 3) when the AC did kick in, you could hear the gears loudly clunking and rattling to life and then what sounded like a tornado ripping through the room, complete with a high pitched whistle. Between #1, 2 and 3, sleeping was a monumental challenge. 4) the rooms had recently been "fixed up" but the furniture is about as cheap as it gets. Bottom line - don't let the very nice lobby fool you - this is a sub par hotel even for a budget friendly one.

Worst hotel stay I had ever ...1) Front desk is not friendly\helpful 2) Room main door didnt work fine , need to press hard to work, we thought room is locked and some stranger entered simply, luckily its day time and we are on alert. 3) Reason for poor rating - Big sounds in hotel room when others rooms\floors flush\use the water, big inconvenience for family with kids with no sleep in the night

Terrible staying hotel ever.!!!DO NOT COME. Never!!!!!!!!!! receptionist and workers are very rude, and unkind. When I check in 2 rooms, they ask me 400 Hundred dollars deposit but they didn’t pay back into my account for 1 week. After a week I called to hotel,They told me, want to receive ‘ come back to the hotel’… all workers are yelling and ignoring me. Too dirty, bad smell, bugs, and so on, if you want someone to have bad experience in Quebec, plz recommend here. This is more than that. Thanks you for having the hell~

First impression only. We arrived for a conference a bit early on a Monday, probably 3 hours before check in. The parking lot was virtually empty. Very few people coming and going. For whatever reason, the desk clerk was adamant that our room would not be ready before 3pm. I've stayed in a lot of hotels all over Canada and have never received this response, even when the hotel is visibly busy. It is usually "let me call and check" or "give us a half hour" or "you know what, we have a room ready for you." Maybe I'm overly critical and I truly hope our experience gets better. But, my experience is first impressions can set the tone. Stay tuned! Well, experience wins again. We did get checked in a few minutes early by a lovely front desk person. Room was satisfactory, although the flies between the window panes were a bit distracting. No wow factor from the room or entire facility. Breakfast was incredibly slow our first morning. On the second morning, we arrived at 7am for breakfast so as not to be late for the conference a second time, and were told we could not be served for at least an hour because a tour bus had priority. They did have a lovely lounge, or so it appeared through the glass doors. Sadly, we were told it didn't open until Thursday. The conference ran from Monday to Wednesday. No evening social space on site. I could understand this if it was slow season, but the hotel was full. Not a property we will be returning to anytime soon and definitely not a place I would refer family, friends or followers to. We will be back in Quebec City next summer for an event and have already made reservations elsewhere.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel! It deserves every one of its five stars. The cleanliness was impeccable, and the service was top-notch. The bed and mattress were incredibly comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The air conditioning worked flawlessly, keeping the room at the perfect temperature. To top it all off, the price was reasonable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I can't recommend this place enough – it's a five-star gem!

Our room was large and had a lovely view. I was disappointed that for paying over $210, i expected more... Like breakfast included, a choice of coffee and tea, body lotion. The first day, the elevator wasn't working. There was a damp smell as you came toward the elevator. On a more positive note, the service was good. Our friends who came asking with is and who had a physically disabled adult son, had to move in the night twice. The AC did not work in their first room, so they moved in the middle of the night to a second room which was worse and finally they were moved to the third room at 12:30 in the night.

Would have given negative score if I could. Had a medical emergency with a family member and called to cancel our stay a few hours before check-in time. The hotel management refused to offer any refund whatsoever- they pocketed the whole amount which was quite significant. I hope that the hotel was able to rent our room to someone else even with a higher charge (since it would have been last minute) so that they could make a double profit.

Honestly for how much cheaper this place was compared to where we usally stay I can really complain too much. The room was quaint. The Ac worked well and the beds were comfortable. The water stayed hot for showers and the fridge had a small freezer in it. The downsides are exactly what I suspected, the service was lackluster. We had to ask for the right amount of towels for how many guests we booked for. The tv was literally miniature. There wasn't any continental breakfast and the overall vibe of the hotel was friendly but rundown.

Rooms: For the price don’t expect too much Service: terrible, specially the lady in the checking counter, very rude y zero concept of service client. Location: ok Time for check in 4 pm, and check out 11 🤨. If you arrive even at 3 forget about to so the checking, they respect strictly the schedule ☹️🤦‍♂️. Answer to the hotel: after I wrote the review was a change of personnel in the counter and a new lady came in and after I explained the situation and the fact that I drove 8 hours she give me the room. Please say thank you to her. She was nice. But the previous one…. No more comments. Dinner: spectacular french fries! Comes as a side of a delicious Angus beef bueger

Horrible public bathroom. No cold water in bathroom. Low pressure showers. Bar staff underqualified and unfamiliar with basic drinks. I witnessed them being confused about a rum and coke.

This hotel is a 2 star. Rooms are outdated. Room smelled like urine, toilet and bath were clogged, beds were harder then the floor, carpet was stained, restaurant food not so great. Positives; working a/c, warm bathroom floor, spacious, cleaning crew was great every night, extra pillows. I think cons outdid the pros.

This is not a pleasant place to stay. Surrounded by motorways/roads, no amenities (ie restaurants/bars etc) in or around the hotel. No pleasant places to see or stroll to. On our visit to this hotel the restaurant/bar was closed during the day & evening. Vending machines, sandwiches sold at reception & microwaves in the corridors are apparently what amounts to amenities!! What at travesty of a place. As a visitor from the UK on a managed tour through First Class Holidays & Jonview it’s been a shock to find that these two companies are prepared to place clients in this type of accommodation.

Friendly excellent staff and service. The washing machine wasn’t working, so the housekeeping volunteered to do my laundry for free. Their team is excellent - front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and other behind the scenes staff.

Friday November 10, After 11pm I was hearing music that was NOT coming from my room. Called the front office twice. Security, unannounced knocked on my door. He came in and my French is not the best but he asked if I have ear plugs. The music ended at 1155pm. The music last night lasted till 1130pm. Spoke to reception yesterday morning about the night before and that the safety lock did not work. I was asked if I wanted to change rooms not that maintenance will fix the lock. Guess not the first time they were told.

didn't use the pool or gym but asked about them and it seems that you can use them with some restrictions. Great room, nice atmosphere. Pandemic definitely means less services but that is everywhere. Easily off the highway when coming from out of town.

It didn't include breakfast for the amount paid while the shower tap was jammed due to that water temperature was irregular. While the room was nice and comfy with a view of both old and new bridge.

Nice large windows, stayed in the tower section and it had a great view of the city near by. The room was clean and had a remote for the fireplace/heater to keep the room extra warm. I read other reviews complaining about a coffee maker, I think the hotel reacted to them because I have a Nespresso maker with really nice mugs to use with it. The lady that checked me in was nice and very helpful.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. The hotel was very clean and quiet, the beds were comfortable, and we slept well. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The only downsides were that the restaurant was closed (we didn't know this before we arrived), and the pool is only 3 feet deep at the deepest part (the kids were disappointed by that). For an easy, pleasant, and comfortable stay only 20 minutes from Old Quebec, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Looks great when you walk in but it ends there. We stayed for 2 nights and there is a smell in all the hallways. Ice machines don't work, pool is very small. The rooms with 2 beds only come in double they don't have queen beds at all so it's very uncomfortable for 2 adults to sleep comfortably. Chips were all over the floor on the steps for 2 the days we were there. The bathrooms are oddly Designed with very poor lighting. They don't do room service. For the price you can find much better options.

A wifi code or instructions were not provided and reception did not pick up the phone 3 times. The location is far from all attractions but that explains why it was one of the cheapest hotels in the area. The washroom is TINY and the design with the sink in a different area is strange. Washroom also needed more toiletries, only soap and shampoo were provided. Overall an okay stay for a quick stay while on the road.

We have stayed at a number of Travelodge's. The room was clean but dated. There was no breakfast available. The hotel restaurant is closed Monday & Tuesday and doesn't open up until 3 pm on Wednesday. This was disappointing. We stayed there for a night on our way to New Brunswick, late check in and early checkout. I left a special hair towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door by mistake. We returned on our way back from New Brunswick, 6 days later. We asked the desk clerk on check in if they had found it. We never heard anything so asked again in the morning at check out. They were unable to locate my towel. It was quite expensive as it was bamboo. You would think they would put lost items from guests it in a lost and found box and kept it for at least a month prior to throwing it out or allowing staff to take it home; certainly influenced my low rating. For a one night stay, Thursday to Sunday, might be ok if you don't have high expectations. Just don't forget anything in the room as it will be gone.

  • 2/5 Dan C. 1 year ago on Google
Service was good. Room was ok, but a little weird. While hot water was plentiful there didn’t seem to be any cold water available in the room. Hotel felt sort of abandoned. Fire alarm went off at 10:40pm the first night we were there and there wasn’t much communication from staff or anything. I mentioned it when we checked out and the staff acted like this was a pretty normal occurrence. Location wasn’t great if you’re looking for anything walkable nearby, but it was close to the highways and bridges.

Me and my family arrived 10:30pm on a Thursday evening after driving 1000kms, no restaurant or bar open. From my understanding from the front desk it closed at 10pm. Most restaurants around the area closed at 11pm so by the time we checked in and got our luggage upstairs everything was closed and we were hungry. Nowhere on the hotel page does it say the restaurant and bar hours. Next morning we go down for the breakfast that is not included in the price of the room and it was a mess. Asked for 2 high chairs for the kids, they never did go and get them. We ate a snack and left. Spent the day out and came back expecting to eat at the restaurant for supper. Went down around 7pm and it wasn't open..asked the front desk and apparently the restaurant isn't open at all?? It was ridiculous. Went out for supper and came back to bath the kids only to find no plug for the bath tub. Asked for one at the front desk and by the time they brought one up the kids were in bed. Went to get a shower myself and the handle was missing from the knob to turn the water on and the shower itself was terrible, no water pressure and the removable shower head/handle couldn't be positioned in a way to actually shower without having to manually shower yourself. I then go to mix a drink because the bar is not open but I need ice, there is no ice machine on this floor and found another out of service. If I could of left and got a room at another hotel I would of. Fast forward to the next morning, on the website the aquarium is listed as 0.5kms away from the hotel so we were going to walk but... its not actually that close so we had to drive. All of this for $300 a night is ridiculous. Will never stay here again.

Very good hotel! Very clean and comfortable! I like that it has vending machines at the lobby! The only complaint is the entrance to the hotel which was not very obvious! The first time we missed the entrance so we had to keep driving that lead us back to the highway! Not convenient during rush hours cause it took us 20 minutes to try to get back in! I think there should be a bigger sign near the entrance so we know where the hotel is! I also believe they would benefit a better service if the checkin was faster! Took me more then 15 minutes because there was only 1 person really working in the front desk while the others where chit chatting with each. This is also the first time that 4 out of 5 of my Ubereats deliveries was made by bike instead of by car from all the hotels I ordered usually! Overall I was quite satisfied with my stay! I will keep in mind of Wyndham hotels for my future trips!

  • 2/5 Jake M. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely no good restaurants near by, 20 minute walk is the closest. There is a Korean BBQ in the parking lot however we walked in and only 6 of the 12 visible tables were full and we were still turned away as they only do service at set times. So I guess the restaurant sits empty most of the day. The breakfast is an extra 15 dollars and that's all they do no dinner no lunch. If you stay here be ready to drive for everything you need unless you like eating from a convenience store. Room is ok though.

  • 3/5 Ari 2 years ago on Google
Not up to the Wyndham standard. We came here because it had a pool but the pool area is under construction and the pool is open but the water was cold. The on-site restaurant was also closed for 3 of the 5 days we were here, they didn't mention that on booking. 😡. The restaurant was also closed for two of the days we were here and there is hardly anything within walking distance. The view and actual room were ok.

We arrived after 9 pm on Oct 14, there was no greeting or smile front the front desk. During the check-in, the impression he gave me was " you are not welcome". He told us to pay $100 deposit, and we did without checking the machine. Later we found out he charged us more than $500. We went downstairs to talk to him. He said we haven't paid the hotel, and I showed him I prepaided in AMA. He said there was no record I prepaided in the system, and it was not possible to get that deal. I told him that is the reason I booked thru AMA. I asked him why u never mentioned I was charged ore than $500, and he replied he assumed me I knew $199x 2 nights + $100 deposit. He said he couldn't do anything now, and we needed to wait till tomorrow. His manager would dealt with it. Next day, when I went down, another staff told me the problem was solved, but there was no apology from the hotel.

Rooms & bathrooms are renovated, clean and functional. Proximity to the Centre de Glaces [intact] is excellent. Good budget facility with parking and a restaurant.

The physical building is below average, $20/person breakfast is only food option. We stayed 7 nights and they only came to clean our room twice. Ice machines didn’t work, overzealous security - Plenty of other great places to stay in QC, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Well the place is in urgent need of mantainance, you can notice it all around, but the room was nasty to be honest, the heating unit below the window fell in the middle of the night, the coffe maker was disgusting probably never cleaned, the tv remote was not functioning correctly so they gave us another wich intermittently worked, probably something wrong with it; not that there was much to watch nasty poor channel selection. One tiny bar of soap for the room, dirty glasses and cups, tiny towels for 4 of course they didnt replace or tried to clean the room. The AC was very noisy, at least kind of worked. The buffet for breakfast, dont even try disgusting. The pool, brown yellowish water underlit and depressing. The front desk personnel really tried, but how much can they do. Overall this is a 2 star hotel with the feel of a truck stop mantainance.

The bed in my room (1105) was very comfortable, which is the key to a good hotel room… which is what this was. Very simple amenities, Nespresso in the room which didn’t have new pods replenished until my last of four nights. I ordered from the quick options part of the breakfast menu in the restaurant and waited a full hour for my breakfast sandwich to arrive. I slept well in the comfortable bed but can’t otherwise recommend this hotel.
