This is quite a charming little hotel and the staff are very courteous and helpful. They had informed us ahead of our visit that it can be very difficult to secure reservations at restaurants around Christmas and provided a list of the ones that were operating during the season. Our room was quite comfortable, and refreshed daily, coordinated for when we were out. Breakfast provided by 7am, in insulated bags hung outside each room, consisted of muffins, breads and croissants with jams and butter, bottles of orange juice, and cream for the coffee machine in room. On Christmas morning, we found chocolate bombs with our breakfast as well - what a wonderful little surprise! Our room was stocked with a mini bar, fridge, microwave and toaster oven. Plates, cups and silverware are in the room. Considering the convenient location, comfort and cleanliness, and the warmth exuded by the staff, we would certainly book with them again on our next visit to Old Quebec!

This was our second time in Quebec City for New Year's Eve, but our first time at this hotel, and it was a wonderful experience! It's a little further out of the main old town area, but that meant it was quiet, peaceful, and free of traffic and crowds. They provided parking across the street at a very reasonable price (I think it was around $15/day), and everything we wanted to do was within a 7-15 minute walk. The best part about this hotel was the staff. Everyone was incredibly courteous and accommodating, and we felt truly welcome there. The manager even treated the guests to a complimentary glass of sparkling wine on NYE, which we thought was a lovely touch. The room was also very spacious, clean, and well-appointed with a small fridge and basic kitchen necessities. They also have a wonderful system for providing a continental breakfast each day... the housekeeping staff places a little insulated caddy on a hook outside the room, and it contains fresh croissants with butter and jam, along with some other snacks and orange juice. I thought this was a great way of getting a bite to eat in the morning without having to get dressed to go to a dining room, paying for expensive room service that often takes forever, or having to leave the property altogether. Thank you all for a wonderful stay in Quebec!

We had such a great experience at this hotel. It was our last stop in an East Coast trip for my birthday. Justin at the front desk was so friendly and helpful. We booked a dining experience at Laurie Raphael with the hotel and wanted to change it from 6 courses to 9. Justin arranged for the restaurant to be ready for us when we arrived and helped us with parking our vehicle. The room was spacious and modern with everything needed to glam up for dinner. I wish we had more time to spend in Quebec City so we’ll certainly be back and I know my first hotel of choice for next time.

Wow don't let the old vintage outside look fool you its a five star hotel extremely great service (we had an extra special guy at check-in he was as helpful as can be and also very polite and fast it took us literally less that 2 minutes to check in ) the rooms are extremely nice and very clean the beds are very comfortable you can see that someone did a thorough job cleaning this place. I wish every hotel would be as clean and have as nice service like this hotel Keep it up

Really nice small hotel, took a little bit time till someone came after I rang the bell for check-in. Everything went smoothly. Parking is possible on the opposite free outside parking lot (15$ excl. tax). Room is nice, cute, equipped with most necessary stuff, good toiletries supplies. Don't offer breakfast buffet but offer small breakfast in a basked in front of the room, it's enough and quite delicious for 2 people. Check out without any problems Good neighborhood, some nice bars and restaurants around and very fast in vieux-Quebec, old city, touristic area.

Loved this hotel. Customer service from everyone is excellent. Shout out to Pierre and Justin they are employees and are responsible for checking in guest, providing assistance. They were extremely helpful with recommendations, calling taxis, provided us a map of the city's layout and highlighted places of interest. Excellent customer service. The morning continental was delicious and delivered on time. Fresh bake morning breads, yummy cheese, yogurt. The bed was so comfortable one of the best in our entire vacation. The line of products (shower gels, conditioner, lotion, etc.) Are just lovely. Location is excellent. Close to the cruise port, train station, and landmark you will want to visit.

Absolutely fantastic experience at des Coutellier. They were so considerate on everything. The room was clean and quiet, there was complementary breakfast, apples, coffee...the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was also ideal, being close to the st. Lawrence River and most of the tourist attractions there. Old Quebec was a very scenic city and the stay at des Coutellier definitely enhanced our vacation!

Stayed with our two young sons over Canada Day. Location is within walking distance to all of the historical sites. Parking is across the street but reasonable at $15 with in and out privileges - don't pay at the booth, but ask for the ticket at check in. Breakfast was complementary and left the door at 7am in cooler bags, which was a very nice touch. Staff was wonderfully responsive. Would stay here again.

Hotel des Coutellier is a definite 5 stars! Small hotel with everything most travellers are looking for including a beautiful breakfast which is delivered to your room each day at 7.00am. All the staff (Justin, Marie, Pierre and Jean-Sébastien are kind, warm and customer oriented. The bathroom and bedroom were very clean with an abundance of towels, shampoo, soap etc. In-fact, we needed room service just once in 4 days. We were very happy and comfortable during our stay and will return to this hotel - it is conveniently located near to the Via Rail station. We enjoyed the card with the weather forecast and word game! Thank you Marie for the band aid for my blister, thank you Jean-Sébastien for giving my husband and I, spoons to eat our yogurt in the Via Rail!

A great place to get away. Kind staff. We were on the 4th floor so road noise (plowing and snow removal) was barely perceptible

Hotel is centrally located: we have easily walked to St-Jean-Baptiste and St-Roch besides Old Quebec. That means access to more affordable restaurants. It's easy to get to this hotel from the airport via public transport, and to head for our next destination via the train station that is round the corner. The colors and furnishings in our room are on the darker side; bathroom amenities are adequately provided and clean. I used the gym - which is clean and provides a good range of dumbbells. I remember fondly of its staff: everyone is eager to give tips on what to check out in the city, eager to chat, and cheerful. Due to my early flight, I got in a few hours before 3:00p. The staff helped me with an early check-in that gives me an extra 1/2 day to check out the sights worry free. I am glad I picked this hotel during my 4 days in Quebec City.

Older boutique hotel with friendly staff. We had a few issues during our stay, but management did their best to address them. We'd recommend better pillows and more thorough housekeeping, but otherwise, a comfortable stay in a convenient location. Breakfast delivered to your room was a nice touch. We especially enjoyed the zucchini bread. Loved the functional windows to let fresh air in. We didn't utilize this during our stay, but there was an extensive menu offering movie nights in, board games, etc. that would be particularly nice for longer stays or those with children. We requested a top-floor room with a view of the harbor, which was beautiful!

My daughter and I stayed for a week in the summer of 2023. Pros: The room was very clean and comfortable and larger than it appeared in the photos on their website. The breakfast hanging outside the door allowed us to get ready while eating or eat at different times which was very convenient. It is a continental breakfast which may not suit everyone but was perfect for us. The STAFF was outstanding. Pauline was unbelievably helpful with several issues we had and extraordinarily kind. Justin was very patient and helpful with our many questions. Location is very convenient, but in Lower Town, so you will be walking uphill frequently. Well you are in Quebec City after all. Cons: I sleep hot and the air conditioner was not cold enough for my comfort. My daughter was fine and I assume most people wouldn't be bothered. Especially other times of year. Overall I was extremely pleased with our stay and would wholeheartedly recommend it to others.

We had an amazing stay here. The staff was super friendly. The room was beautiful and clean. It was also right near all the main attractions! I just wish they didn't charge us for tooth paste !

This hotel was lovely and everything we expected. Staff was very helpful. Location was great, a nice walk to Old Quebec. It was quiet at night and bed was comfortable. Tavern next door was great and was fun to meet locals. If you like non brand name places this hotel is for you.

This hotel came highly recommended and given the rating it has, I had certain expectations but unfortunately I was dissapointed. When it comes to the service, it was friendly and they were able to accommodate a very early check-in at no extra cost. The hotel lobby is quite small and so was my room . Furniture are older style and quite basic and not particularly comfortable. The bathroom was was a bit small, in need of an update and the layout made it less practical. When I checked in, my room was done but there were still traces of long standing dust in certain area. Breakfast is provided but it was not particularly appealing or cared for. It was made of croissants in paper towels left in a cooler bag with yogurt and some toast. Walls are thin and there was a family with kids running around on the floor generating a lot of noise throughout the weekend. Overall I did not think this stay was good value for money. I stayed 2 nights at the same cost as a nice 4 stars hotel midtown Manhattan but in setting that felt more like a motel.

This is a terrific hotel in a great location. Our room was beautiful and well maintained and the staff at the front desk were sooooo attentive! And bilingual. A special shout-out to Pauline, thanks for making us feel so welcome. The breakfast-in-a-bag idea is a great concept. This was our second time here and won’t be our last.

Small but sufficient room. Comfy bed and relaxing rocking chairs. Breakfast - I wish more hotels did it the way this one does. And those pastries are superb! Get rid of the old keurig and have a nespresso machine instead and it will elevate the experience.

Positive overall experience for a 3 stars hotel but a lot of improvements to handle. + : the front desk is absolutely formidable (welcoming, enthusiastic and very helpful), location is great, parking is easy - : our rooms were not very clean and the linen a bit smelly, the breakfast is very limited (but delivered to your room). So I would have rated 5 stars if the cleanliness was up to the expectations.

We stayed here for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. The room was clean and comfortable and having breakfast delivered to the door was a real treat. The location is on the edge of the old city and very quiet. The staff were really accommodating with excellent restaurant recommendations, parking and generally friendly service. We would stay here again!

Thanks for enthusiastic welcome by all front desk employees, especially Ms. Pauline, she’s really nice about recommendations for all spots in the old city. Even the Hotel’s location is not in the center of tourist area, but it comfortable, convenient, wonderful employees, quiet at night, and serves breakfast in your room, very impressed.

Best rated hotel on Trip advisor. Classy hotel in the heart of Quebec City. What makes it different is that it’s cleaner and comfier. The main lobby is a bit small but they have a restaurant/bar. For women: They had makeup removing wipes, a mirror for makeup and a makeup removing towel!

We had such a great experience at this hotel. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating!! Justin was such a gracious host!! The rooms were so quaint and clean and they were fully equipped with fridge, ironing board and desk with charging station! The bed was super comfortable and we didn’t hear a peep from the hallway or outside. The location was perfect to dine, shop or go biking. We will absolutely be back!!

I stayed here for a business trip, first since the pandemic began but not my first hotel stay since then. This was by far and away the most reassuring hotel in terms of cleanliness. A great effort taken to reassure guests that the rooms are clean. The hotel is extremely accessible and well located in the old port, just a couple minutes walk from old quebec and a bunch of great restaurants. There is parking across the street and is not very expensive. The room was clean, comfortable and modern at a very reasonable price. The complimentary breakfast left outside the door is a very nice touch. I highly recommend this hotel for business travel as well as personal due to its accessible location and comfortable accommodations.

We loved our stay at this place. - The location is absolutely perfect and encourages you to discover the entirety of the Vieux-Quebec area. - The room was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable (mattress was top tier!). - Two freshly baked goods dropped off at your door (two per person, +2 per additional guests). Both baked goods were super tasty. We were given a croissant & a chocolate scone. - Staff were very kind and made sure we loved our stay. I can’t explain it but after a long day of exploring and travelling Quebec City, coming back to Hôtel des Coutellier felt like coming back home. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will come back in the future.

This is a great boutique hotel located walking distance crom Old Quebec. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Pauline was very nice and helpful, she provided us with good recommendations for restaurants and places go see, and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend this hotel.

The hotel was very clean! This is our second time in this hotel, and I highly recommend it. It's very quiet, not crowded and most of all very close to everything. It's a walking distance to the old Quebec and lots of restaurants.

Excellent. Truely recommend. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. Service above expectations. If you go here, make the attached restaurant, Legende, one of your must visit destinations.

Our stay definitely had some pros and cons. We stayed in a queen room which was small but comfortable and met all our needs. The hotel staff were friendly. The hotel was located on the edge of the old city and was quite walkable. The parking was 15$ across the street and convenient. The to-go style breakfast was a nice added touch. On our second night at the hotel while we were laying in bed someone barged into our room. The door had been closed and we listened to someone tap their key and open our room. When I called down to the desk to report this they seemed to think this couldn’t be true but we were told they’d investigate. The hotel was fully booked so we couldn’t move rooms. They didn’t follow up or provide us with a solution, so that left us feeling uneasy. Be sure to use your lock latch if you stay here. Hotel staff seemed to just brush the event off and for this reason we likely won’t be back.

Nice place to stay. 6 nights without any issues. The room is comfortable and clean, the breakfast is good enough, the team is very friendly and helpful. This location is what I was looking for. I hope to be back. Highly recommended!

Great, friendly hotel just outside the walls of the old city and close to an easy walk to the train station, busses and the old town. Great room, clean, and comfortable bed. Breakfast is a bag delivered outside your room each morning filled with delicious bakery goods, orange juice ....more than enough to keep you going. Would highly recommend this hotel.

We were going to be in Quebec City for two days with no plans of renting a car, so needed a place that was convenient and accessible to the Old Quebec city and train station area - Hotel des Coutellier was the perfect place. Small size hotel, but modern and very clean. Staff was helpful and pleasant.

Clean room, very good with the whole COVOD thing - can request new toiletries, mugs, plates etc. Breakfast was delicious and filling, coffee was excellent in the Keurig. Friendliest and most helpful staff ever. Superb experience. Looking forward to going back!! Also I didn't get to use the gym, but it looks nice with a decent amount of weights/machines. The computer/printer area is nice. Optimal location if you are arriving by VIA train and want to explore the old parts of the city (Vieux Quebec).

Very conveniently located in picturesque Quebec. Friendly and responsive concierge, breakfast is included and delivered daily at your hotel door. Deducted a star due to the mini fridge being a bit old and bottled water was not complimentary.

Amazing hotel marked by top-notch hospitality and very comfortably, clean rooms! Pauline and Justin deserve a shout out for their kindness and hospitality - from the beginning they provided great recommendations for places to eat and sites to see. Justin also took time to share with us about Canadian and Quebecois history, which was so great to learn about!. The location of the hotel is also very, very good given that it is close (several minutes walking) to the top attractions of the city. The breakfast croissants were something I always looked forward to! I think that the attention to detail - like delivering the yummy breakfast in packed lunchboxes with a print out of the weather and a little puzzle (ex crossword) every morning- is what truly set this hotel apart from others. There are so many great things I can say about this hotel; the short of it is that when I visit Quebec City again I will definitely book with Hotel des Coutellier again! Amazing job guys!!

My husband I would highly recommend Hotel Des Coutellier in Quebec City. We visited for our honeymoon and could not be happier with our choice. We were a bit dubious as they were doing some renovations on the front facade of the building but were assured by the staff that the noise would not be an issue as our room was at the back of the building. Our stay was very quiet, and we enjoyed the clean, cozy and quaint room. The hotel is a short walk from the old city and perfect location if you need to park your car as there is a parking lot easily accessible right across the street. We appreciated the front desk staff especially Justin who provided us with a warm welcome of champagne and chocolate to help us celebrate and had a very warm and welcoming demeanor. Thank you Hotel Des Coutellier for making our honeymoon extra special!

Fantastic service! Staff spoke English and French. Breakfast served at our rooms in a bag with delicious bakery items. Rooms and the hotel itself were replete with amenities. Located close to all the important stuff and not too far from the road: makes it easy for taxis to pick you up. Staff was incredibly friendly and made this a fantastic stay. Will totally book again when we come back to visit.

Rooms were somewhat small - but the classic room was fine for my family of 4 - we really didn’t spend much time in the rooms. Easy parking / unloading / reloading car. Staff were very pleasant / courteous / thoughtful and very hospitable. I believe Pier was the one that offered to even change my family’s room to a different room because the newly vacant room had more space and he knew we had a baby with us. Location was very convenient to the sites to see around - also about 30 min away from an awesome water park at Hotel de Glacé - also close to the ferry which can transport even the entire car across the river to Levis Quebec which was another new experience. Breakfast was also packaged very nicely. Overall excellent experience.
