If you’re looking to stay in Quebec City for the Winter Carnaval or just for some sightseeing, this old gal is the place for you!!! This is hands down the best hotel I’ve stayed in. It feels so cozy and welcoming and not to mention the historical aspect. Its over 180 years old and is so well maintained and just beautiful on the inside and out. It’s right beside the Fairmont and the boardwalk with the 1884 Dufferin Snow/ice slide not even a 2 minute walk away. It’s also a good walking distance from so many restaurants, shops, transit, and the ferry to Lévis! The staff are so charming, friendly and knowledgeable, they’re above and beyond! I couldn’t recommend this hotel more! If you’re lucky enough to read this before booking your stay, I highly urge you experience this quaint, great value, stunning hotel.

This 180 year old hotel is an experience by itself, which adds to the old time and timeless charm of Quebec. Conveniently located just a few steps away from the iconic landmarks of old Quebec (Terrasse Dufferin, Château Frontenac, Citadel). If you are looking for a posh and an accommodation with modern trappings this ain't for you. The building is antiquated but for some reason my wife and I end up loving it. Apart from that, Amelie is probably one of the most welcoming hotel staff that we have come across in our years of travel.

We really enjoyed our stay at the hôtel Terrasse Dufferin. We had such an outstanding view on the St-Lauwrence river and the Château Frontenac. The experience of old quebec city was enhanced by the historical cachet of the hotel and the room. Beds were really confortable, the room super clean and quiet. We had excellent services from the frontdesk. The location was also perfect to go explore the most attractives spots of the city by walk and very close to a lot of restaurants. I recommend 100%

We loved our stay at the Hotel Terrasse Dufferin. The location is incredible just steps away from a toboggan ride and the St Lawrence River. We came for Carnaval and it was so easy to walk to the venues. Everything was very clean, housekeeping was provided to us every day, alongside a complementary snack/drink stash (an amazing extra that made breakfast so easy). Service overall was amazing. Also the option to be able to store luggage on check out to explore the area a little more before leaving. Only thing to note is that the building is old, so there were loud creaks at night, but we just used earplugs and were fine.

Great Location and views of the St. Lawrence and the promenade. The hotel itself is a little old and a little tired, but so what, who goes to Quebec to sit in their room! The service is super friendly and helpful, and the money we saved staying here, we spent on fine wine and dining! Had a great time over the Canada day long weekend, would stay here again in a heart beat!

This hotel was build in 1860, so it's old, but we loved the place. Bath rooms are small, but functional. Rooms are nice and the views are stunning. Location perfect. If you can not climb stairs, don't book this hotel. Friendly service. Muffins a nice touch.

The location is wonderful, the people are nice, rooms are clean. We asked for a room on the 1st floor because we are older & didn't want the stairs. We had room #2 & it was wonderful. This is a 100+ year old building, so if you want something new & Shiney, this is not for you. We loved it!

If you don't go into this hotel stay thinking you're booking somewhere with a marble shower, elevator, chic lobby bar etc., you will be thrilled. This isn't your Instagram hotel. If you want to stay in the best location at a reasonable price, this is the spot. Yes, rooms are small and dated, but who wants to spend that much time in their room on vacation anyway? The whole city is there for your recreation. The important parts: rooms are clean, well maintained and dark at night; beds are comfortable if a bit soft (my husband prefers a hard bed but liked this one!); there is serviceable coffee in room; shower water is hot; room was sufficiently air conditioned; we checked in after 10pm and a key was waiting for us in the lock box (customer service texted with me which was super easy). I would stay here again in a second. Our room was on the top floor which might be hard for some people (the front door of the hotel isn't accessible so this place isn't an option at all for people with mobility devices) but I'm 7 months pregnant and managed it. There are little chairs on every landing so you can have a rest between flights 😊. We didn't have a view but looked out the window of a riverview room and it was gorgeous!

This is a lovely hotel. It's spotlessly clean, very comfortable and in a great location. It's a building with history, it's quirky and if you like lifts, huge uniform rooms with gadgets and 24-hour service, then this definitely isn't for you. The whole hotel gives off an aura of someone being very proud of it and loving it for what it is.

What a fabulous location overlooking the river, next to Chateau Frontenac and US Consulate. Older smaller rooms but bathroom was full size and the mattress in my room was perfect with nice quality linens. I arrived in city at 6:10 am off overnight train and was at their door at 7am. They don't open until 8 but owner and manager called me back to assure me someone would be there shortly to let me. 100% happy with the hotel but the location is a $$ million.

I think, this is the second best hotel in Quebec, you can go by walk to all of the most iconic places in downtown without issues, even you can get drunk and doesn't matter, because you can perfectly go back to your place without issues ☺️🤣🍺🍻 the concierge and the whole crew very friendly, thanks a lot, hopefully we will come back very soon!

Very great place location is amazing you cannot be located better then this. The view of the water plus attractions around is perfect for tourism every thing is walking distance. The place is a very old building 180 year old they mention but those days washrooms were very small, the fact that is old brings you back in time yet very clean and peaceful, even at night or in the morning..they dont serve breakfast in exchange there is cute restaurants very close by.. Thanks to the staff i recommend and would book again.

Location is spectacular! We didn’t have a view room but even so. Front desk very friendly and helpful, rooms small but charming and clean. The walk up is intense with suitcases, especially if you’ve just walked from the station because of a taxi strike! But a really nice place, definitely recommend.

Excellent hotel. Yes it's a little dated and the rooms are smaller then most modern hotels, but you can't beat the location and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this hotel.

Value. View. Much character, so be sure you know what you are reserving, as rooms vary.

If you’re considering booking because of the ~low price - I would stay away! The hotel is near empty and for our short 2 night stay they placed us on the very top floor. The stairs are very steep and there’s no elevator. It’s absolute hell going up and down multiple times a day, not to mention dragging your luggage along. I payed directly through their website so they should have had the courtesy to place us on the lower levels because there was no fee cut through a 3rd party booking site! The Queen Room is tiny, literally feels like a prison cell. The bathroom sink is abnormally low and in a tight cramped corner that you have to squeeze into. If you have wide shoulders - good luck! There is no AC and it’s so stuffy inside that it’s hard to breathe. There also a lack of ventilation in the rooms. There’s a ceiling fan that is completely useless and provides no breeze. Speaking of useless things, they included an old box TV which I suppose is just for decor because it also doesn’t work! The icing on the cake is the rude man at the reception. Overcomplicated a simple check in process. The hotel isn’t entirely that affordable to suffer through all this so spend the extra $50-60 and stay at a decent place.

I'll stay with this old lady, Hotel Terrasse DUFFERIN next time. Everythink is there.

(Stayed in July 2019) My wife and I had a lovely 3 night stay here. The hotel is right on the Terrasse Dufferin as the name would suggest and just along from the Fairmont. The room is clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is also available but has to be ordered the day before for a fee. The hotel also has a deal with the Fairmont that allows guests to use the pool and spa area (for a fee) which we used 1 afternoon. The hotel is also situated beside a quiet park that is nice to sit in with a picnic, a book or just to watch the world go by.

Best hotel in Quebec. The whole stay was well worth the money. Hotel is clean and comfy. Staff is very polite and helpful (especially the lady at the reception). They let us keep our bags near the reception after the check out, so we could roam around the city and come take our bags at a later time. Everything is easily accessible from this place. They provide a $4 breakfast order and that’s filling for the price. Our entire experience was great, will definitely return here the next time we visit Quebec City. I will highly recommend this to anyone looking a place with great atmosphere, staff and location. Thanks!!

Amazing location! Great value and clean rooms. Remember this place is extremely old and it's not a 5 star resort.
