Nice little place, not so busy in spring. It is not so clean (but at least doesn't sting like other hostels). I think they are doing reparations. The staff needs to clean the installations a bit more often, but it's not bad for a hostel this price. A main bus passes just one block away so the transportation is easy. Also, thanks to the lady that helped me with a bus pass when I was short of money!

It was disgusting. We didn’t even stay the night it was such a nightmare. The moment I opened the light in the washroom 3 flies made their presence knowed....in the middle of winter. It smelled like moisture and the basement looked like it was in the middle of being renovated. The shower was full of hair and weird stains, it made me so sick we just left. The basic should be to at least be able to shower.

I barely give it three stars as the bathrooms were really dirty and while having a shower my feet were covered in water because the sink was pretty blocked and also the mat in front of it was already soaking wet but the staff was really nice and spoke English. maybe the single bed rooms are better. to make a long story short. if you're looking for a cheap place to stay this might be a place to go if you're willing to live with the situation explained above.

TL;DR: You don't always get what you pay for. Check-in time was 1:00pm according to Expedia where I made the reservation so I showed up with my wife and our two granddaughters. Went inside to find a nice lady cleaning. After 5 minutes, she gave me my keys and no additional information. We left and went into the old city until about 9:15pm. Upon our return, no one at the desk; just some papers on the walls about the WiFi password being providing them with a 5-star Google review. Not gonna happen. In the room, we found two beds as advertised, a desk, a TV on the wall with a cable remote but no TV remote, and a few hangars. The fridge was a pleasant surprise since we have a Type 1 diabetic with us and need to keep her insulin cold. Regrettably, it didnt work and I was glad we had our cooler bag. No one to ask about that - just phone numbers on the wall for "emergencies". There was a relatively new AC unit keeping us cool. The bathroom was... yeah. Well, there was 1/10 of a roll of toilet paper and no back up roll which made me glad I carry my own from previous bad experiences. There were two 20mL bottles of shampoo and.cknditioner one of which was half-used. They left four towels so they knew 4 of us were coming yet somehow we were to make due with that shampoo. Again, glad I bring my own. There are two driveway dirt parking spots that were already taken when we got there so I parked on the street. Now, breakfast is at 8AM but street parking is over at 8AM so I'm probably going to have to skip out on what I'm sure is a wholesome breakfast of cereal and toast. Not sure yet but I won't be disappointed so that's something. The bed was comfy. That was good! I wouldn't recommend this place unless you get a better rate than I did at which point you could say "well, you get what you pay for". See you on the road.

I called last minute, came stressed out about finding a place to stay and the owner received me with great intelligence, kindness and patience. He was all ears and attentive to what I needed. He offered more than a room! This place is well-kept,pretty, warm, welcoming and clean. The bed in the dorm was super comfortable and it was very quiet and calm at night. I really recommend this place. The good option is that you even have the choice between cheaper cute and clean dorms or nice beautiful hotel rooms. So it's suitable for anyone! Thank you so much for your help, you made me feel like home!

Don't bother going here if you don't speak French... We were asked to pay 170$ for a room for 4 people. Aha! I forgot to add the owner who commented also showing his unprofessionalism! We called once we left Montreal to Quebec checking for pricing and parking. We've been told there is 1room for 4 people parking in French. Upon arrival, we came to know there is no motel parking and the receptionist was offering 170$. Thanks for your rudeness, we drove 10 more min and got a big room with parking for 130$. Don't waste your money with these people

Great staff and quite well located. Great price. For two students visiting Quebec on a budget it's ideal, but you don't get a lot of privacy (not soundproof at all). If you want to use the parking, make sure it's fine with the employees... we couldn't leave because there were other people behind our car and we had to pay a taxi to reach downtown.

Fake reviews Ethan Miller, Tom Gray, and Ben Taylor all only have 2 reviews to their name and coincidentally the second one for each of them is Yellow Airport Cabs in California. You can't believe everything you read. I won't even consider this hotel now. I will, however, tell people to avoid it based on this dishonesty.

We had a great time in Quebec. The staff of Maison Roy were friendly and helpful. The hotel is perfectly located in the old quebec city. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.

Staying in this Quebec City Hotel was a great experience. They are quite old people friendly. All the amenities and services could be easily used by old people. I was travelling with my parents so I was so happy to get this type of services. The rooms were clean, beds were comfy and the location was superb. LOVED IT!!!!

While I initially thought it was quaint and nice, I was quickly disappointed. My reservation was supposed to be for 2 nights and they had mistakenly booked us in a room with 1 bed when we needed 2. The first night they were able to accommodate us, but we’re told they were overbooked and had no room for us the second night. Not even a room with one bed. The driveways and paths to the doors were not shovelled properly or salted. And the 2 brothers who run the place didn’t know what the other had promised and wouldn’t try to help us. The room we stayed in had paint chipping off the walls, plugs being overused with some appliances unplugged because there were not enough outlets. The sheets and pillow cases were clean, but obviously old and needed to be replaced. Overall, not a great experience.

Recently I visited Quebec City unplanned. As I was backpacking I was looking for a cheap but modest hotel to stay. It was really hard to get a good hotel without prior booking. But fortunately I got a good room at perfectly reasonable price in Maison roy. Thanks Maison Roy for coming in to rescue and giving me a last minute booking.

I booked the least expensive place I could find on Expedia in the area so I did not set high expectations. They had no parking so I parked up against a snow bank on a narrow side street and had a hard time getting out. They honoured the expedia price for a basement studio. The hallway to the room was rundown but the room was decent and the bathroom looked newly renovated. Great water pressure in the shower. We could not figure out the TV but the wifi was good. The breakfast room only opened at 8 which was too late for us to sit but the orange juice, coffee and bagels I took to go were good.
