We stayed at the Maison Générale for one night and it was a bad experience. The price of the rooms are extremely expensive for what you get (you’re basically paying for the location). Room was super small for two people and was very disappointed considering how much we paid. Rooms are not well cleaned. Hair in sink, dusty carpets when you walk in, no toilet paper was given and the room smelled musty. Concierge never picks up. I never write reviews for places but had to share.

I gave it a 4 star because of the location and great breakfast included. Our toilet barely worked and the floor was covered in a COVID slime that took for ever to wipe off...literally was slippery as ice. Check in was delayed and room was ok. The one girl at the front desk was helpful...

Ok hotel. I had a room with 2 beds my cousin was staying with me.well this room had the smallest bathroom, cold water, no fridge, TV was not working. So I asked for another room. Got one down the hall , which looked more like what I booked from booking.com. This room was fine except one if the table lamps could turn on, there was used coffee pod in the Kurig.the outlets had no plates covering it. The door to come into the room is heavy!! Bed was comfy, lots of pillows. It near everything. So very convenient. So if your there to sleep, perfect.. if you need romance nope. They own 2 other hotels check their rooms.. Oh and there is no concierge at this hotel. So payment and any request is done at hotel Acadia.

Location is awesome, room was good, not large but we knew what to expect, even though I expected two queen size beds and not double sized ones. What I didn't like were the little details, like parking, missing towels, dirty staircase, remote check-in and not so friendly staff while at it. Before I reserved the room I checked to see if parking was included, it said it was in Booking.com but when I got there not only it was not included in the price but it was full so I had to park in the public parking. This turned out not to be a big deal, even though I still wished I knew it beforehand. I called 2 days prior to check-in to confirm this and was told parking was included. I was not the only one complaining about this while I was checking in. Another thing is that they manage a few hotels in the area and tend to centralize things, so there is a note on the door that tells you to go to a different hotel to check-in. Once more, no problem at all but as I said, I called in before getting there and it would be nice if they had told me before getting there. When we finally got to the room there only 2 towels. We were 4, it was written in the reservation but they said they could not bring the towels to the room because of the pandemic, which sounded like a lame excuse to me, to be honest. So off we went to the other hotel to pick up towels and bring them to our room. At the Booking.com website it says breakfast is included but at reception there is a sign that says the breakfast boxes cost $15. We didn't like the look of it out from the website so it would not be a deal breaker for us. Finally, the staircase was a little dirty from the day we got in, which didn't look like it was very well kept. But the room was very clean. Would I go there again? Maybe, but this time at least I know what to expect. A part from having to go to the other hotel to pick up towels and a not so great reception from one of the gentlemen at the front desk, I would take the other aspects lightly as a trade off for the awesome location.

Hotel check in at other hotel with no understanding of other location. Terrible staff service on September 14,2020. Asked if we could have room with a balcony and a large room. Threw us keys, no other words (no it wasn’t a busy Monday night) We went to see our closet of a room that faced a wall and was not even made up. Returned our keys and found much better accommodation down the street. Pictures are not always what they seem.

Great location. Friendly lady at reception. Comfortable beds. BUT.... We kept getting dirty towels everyday of our 5 night stay. Shower had low pressure and took forever to warm up. Sink was in middle of the room and kept getting blocked. Blood on pillow case. Brown dirty stain on bathroom tile next to the toilet was never cleaned. No wardrobe. We left a tip for cleaning lady on the second night but she must not have been happy as our room was not cleaned properly at all. We paid $1600 and money was taken upfront upon arrival. There are better hotels in same area for much less. Definitely over priced.

When we arrived in the hotel, some clients contested their room price. The reception staff didn't look friendly or being a good merchant. The person in charge gave us our keys after a quick check about our booking but didn't tell us the formalities of the breakfast included in our room. The day after, at 8:30am nobody was at the reception. They let a notice said that we can call for emergency a number. I tried but the number call a phone just in front of me, it was the reception. So, it wasn't really helpful. But, I realized thanks to the voice message of the phone I called that the hotel was connected to a restaurant next door. So I went to the restaurant who told me that I need a coupon otherwise we couldn't enjoyed our breakfast included in our offer. We had to wait till 10am that someone decided to finally came to the reception of the hotel and gave us a coupon. We decided to visit the city and asked the reception for some tips. They try to help us a little bit but they didn't look like to know what we could do. About the room, the bathroom was really small. The sink wasn't in the bathroom. It was weird. The day after in the morning, we saw some scrap stone who fall from the wall on the other bed. We were lucky to choose the other one. The room was closed to the street where we heard too much noise. A good point of this hotel is we were well located but for the price, I found it not worthy. I don't recommand it.

We had a nice clean room on the third floor. Steep stairs only. Quaint and surprisingly small, but all you need for a comfortable night sleep. AC worked fine and was quiet. Rated 2 star but earned both.

Very old hotel, with so much character, rooms are small and beds not great, but the experience is totally worth it. Location is very good, basically in the center of the old town

The rooms are great value and a vantasic location. You are in the Old City for an excellent price. Rooms were good sized and modern. Parking was a challenge, about a 10 min walk. However the city was super busy so lots of spots were full and I had a full size truck which needs a good size spot. The only negative on the Maison du General is we booked a 2 night stay and the room was not cleaned or towels replaced after the first night. Spoke to the front desk about it and he really did not seem to care, his attitude could have made a big difference in the service score I gave. All things considered I would stay there again mostly because of value/location.

.Not all the old places here hold historical significance. This place is simply old and inconvenient. The staff at the reception desk were lazy and unkind. It seemed as if they found interacting with guests boring. Furthermore, they failed to provide a hair dryer as promised and did not inform us in advance about the change in the breakfast restaurant. This oversight resulted in our inability to enjoy the breakfast included in our accommodation fee.T The rooms were very cramped and in poor condition. The four-story building lacked an elevator, and the narrow, steep stairs made it even more challenging to access. Each floor had only three rooms connected by a narrow, short corridor, and noise from neighboring rooms, including snoring, was easily audible.

Location was very convenient, however room was dirty and dusty. Weak water pressure and constant toilet drainage issue if u know what I mean. WiFi worked but smart TV or any programming at all was dysfunctional. Parking not available in the old city. Price should reflect these deficits. Breakfast was included and was satisfactory.

Not a luxury hotel, but the location is excellent! Simple room, close to everything.

The hotel was very cute but not very well executed. The location was awesome, right middle of everything and right where you would want to visit. The rooms were not the best. We rented 2 rooms. The one room the air conditioner did not work. When this was brought to attention of the staff, they went I just doesn't work. The toilet in the other room didn't completely flush

The room was pleasant enough and the location is great. But there is no customer service, no easy way to get in touch with anyone (long holds, dropped calls) and it seems like there is never any staff onsite. We were stuck in room #1 which is on the ground floor, essentially right ON the street, and right by the front entrance. Basic street noise can be excused but someone was BANGING on the front door for over an hour a 3 AM, and with no staff on site to put an end to it. Add to that noisy guests talking loudly outside our room door, between 2 AM - 4 AM… it’s impossible to try and get any sleep here.
