I stayed here (they also advertise as an Airbnb) for the month of November 2023. The manager, Nicola, was very friendly until I asked him about the rate he had quoted me in writing, $1000 a month, but I was charged $1300. When I arrived, he said we would sort it out, but we never did. He asked me the first week I was there if his staff could clean the room, I said yes, and the girl mopped the floor and made the bed, she did not change the sheets. After that I was not asked again and my room was never cleaned again. The facility allows guests to do laundry from 3 to 6, so I did my sheets and towels myself. On two occasions, my laundry was removed from the machines and I had to ask Nicola to ask his staff to return my jeans and another missing item. About a week before I checked out, Airbnb asked me to pay another $40. I asked Nicola what the charge was for; he just shrugged and said he didn't know. He was indifferent and completely unhelpful. Airbnb locked my account until I paid it. I have a perfect set of reviews on Airbnb, and is my practice, prior to checking out, I cleaned the room, all the surfaces, the bathroom, put the sheets and towels in the laundry, and took the garbage out. I did not vacuum or sweep as I did not have access to those tools. The room, apart from dust on the floor, was cleaner that when I had received it. I asked Nicola if I could leave my valuables and suitcase in his office until my next check-in that evening. He said he wouldn't be there when I returned but his partner would be in the building, and to tell his staff to bring my suitcase to his office. I could not find a staff, so I left the suitcase by the door of my room. When I came back to collect my things at 5 pm, the other manager wasn't there. I had to wake up one of the staff to get my belongings. When the staff opened the office door, my suitcase was not there. They had left it upstairs in the hall by my room. Despite the dreadful attitude and slovenly service, I left a pleasant review on Airbnb in an effort to be kind and not cause any problems as I had come to see that Nicola was very disinterested in his guests and I wanted to maintain my perfect reviews on Airbnb. That is also why I cleaned the room so thoroughly, in order to get another positve review Nicola subsequently left a review about me on airbnb stating I had not allowed his staff in the room and I had left the room dirty. Nicola is dishonest and provides no service. He houses young traveller who clean the rooms in return for housing. The staff changed several times while I was there, and they were generally unfriendly, and occasionally openly hostile. I emailed Nicola and asked him to delete the inaccurate and dishonest review. He did not respond. I strongly recommend not booking this resource. I have never experienced such dishonesty and abysmal communication. I have never been treated this poorly by a resource. There is no service, poor communication, and no anemities. I would give it one star as the bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night, but it has the worst, and most passive-aggressive, service (or lack thereof) I have ever encountered.

Wife and I traveled to Quebec City on a last-minute whim as we had no other plans for Christmas. Found a deal for this place on Groupon and did not quite comprehend that it was more a B&B-style location, so we were surprised when we showed up the first night. That being said, the staff was more than accommodating and pleasant. Francois gave me a very detailed explanation of the places to see on their local tourist map and even the best walking route. Though I'm terrible with names, the lady and gentleman that work the cafe downstairs were most gracious and friendly; we ate breakfast there each morning. Parking was not an issue. The room was very comfortable and was clean every day when we returned from our daily exploits in the city. Definitely recommend this location to anyone, especially if you don't want to pay the high city hotel prices, but still be within a comfortable distance from the old city itself. We drove each morning to the market place and left our car parked there while we walked the city.

I am truly disappointed in my experience with Auberge Amerik. We first called to book our stay here 3 weeks before our intended stay and they told us they still had space and asked us to write them an email to confirm the dates. After not getting a confirmation for a week, we decided to call back and they told us again that they still had space and would confirm the next day. This went on for 4 more calls and 2.5 more weeks until they finally emailed us back 3 days before we had planned on coming and told us they no longer had space. I have never dealt with such an unreliable and disorganized place and I will definitely never be trying to come back here. I truly hope no one else ever has to deal with what we did but we are happy to be staying elsewhere than a place like this.

The pictures do not reflect our experience. Our room was quite small on the top floor (tower room). Angled walls from the roof made it even smaller. Toilet was in a closet and the shower was next to the bed. The room was dusty and had a bit of a smell. No windows in the room to let the air out either. Just a very noisy air conditioner to make up for it...

Very beautiful heritage guest house. The host (Nicola) was extremely nice and helpful and pointed us to several spots to check out. Only negative thing was the toilet, we had to flush it several times for all the waste to flush away. The stay is close to a bus stop that gets you into Old Quebec in 20 min and passes every 15 min. There is also a very nice cafe next door to check out!

Not at all like the photos. Run down, funky smell in the room, paint peeling from the walls, holes, sealant visible in the bathroom, the roof top patio needs to be repainted. They need to either renovate or take more recent photos.

The most gracious host far more than just friendly. Quaint old guesthouse with small rooms but a very pleasant place to stay in a nice suburb easy to park and even walkable to the city in 30 minutes. Pet friendly tops it off.

I stumbled upon this place because the two restaurant where I usually treat myself when in this area were closed.. and thank goodness they were! I was greeted by a wonderful lady, full of smiles and so polite. I had the veggie pate made into a sandwich, one of the best veggie pates I’ve ever had. It came accompanied with caramelized onions and carrots on the side to add to on my own! DELICIOUS!!!! Thank you!!

The place is well located, 10 minutes to the old city by bus. The owner is very friendly and gives amazing suggestions. Their breakfast is delicious and well served (go for eggs Benedict with veggies! Yummy) The room is also cozy. The only con is the shower, it could use some improvement. The water keeps getting cold and hot. Other than that, a very nice place to stay in Quebec.

The staff is fantastic, the rooms are clean, the location is great for visiting Quebec City and there are good restaurants within walking distance. That said, the building is extremely tired, the bedding and towels are worn, bleach stained and frayed, and the air conditioning is extremely noisy. While the price was good, the description of the property was not accurate and we were surprised and disappointed (and we live in a 150 year old house). We would never recommend this hotel to friends or family.

Our experience at Auberge Amerik was wonderful considering we were travelling with our one-year-old grandson and his parents. We felt at home during our stay and it was pleasurable to wake up in the morning with breakfast and coffee ready for us in the downstairs breakfast room. Our hosts were very helpful and gave us some great tips in where to go for meals with our grandson along with ideas for parking downtown during the Winter Carnival. It's a great location to stay in while seeing the city's main attractions. We would do it again in a heartbeat!

Charming place. Good location. Friendly people. Great breakfast. But the house is more than 100 years old and we had a room under the roof that was small and with a very small window that could not be opened. Lukely there was an airco but it was loud and lets say that it was obvious that it was not installed by a professional.

I agree with the summary of reviews: the auberge is probably 2-3 stars, but that's to be expected. It's an auberge - like a French country inn. We had a private bath. It was adequate but no effort was made to hide the silicon sealant, water temp fluctuated as other rooms used water. Most of the room was taken up by the bed, couch and small TV stand. And you can hear other guests through the walls. We could not get the cable box to work. But for the moderate price, we were very satisfied. Everything was clean, the restaurant downstairs served good food. Nicolas, the host, was incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable and likable. He speaks excellent English (but is happy to let you practice your French too), takes the time to give advice on what to see and do. There is a small lending library. The bus stop to downtown is right outside, a taxi from the bus and train station cost us less than ten dollars, a Maxi supermarket is 7 blocks away. And despite super cold winter temps, we were not cold. We'd certainly stay at the Amerik again. I hope that you do. We still remember our visit fondly.

Won't rent again. One little fridge for 2 rooms and no bathroom in a room! Everything old, with a century smell. No breakfast, despite promised one!

Location was good but the thing is it has poor toilet facility, you need to flush toilet several times, the towels were not in good condition (old, worn out and with holes! not presentable anymore), the cups had dirty marks which I need to clean before use, the tv and electric kettle is not working at all. The host is also expecting the guests to tidy up the room eventhough we paid for cleaning fee. Overall rating is lowest, 1, bad experience at all. Not recommending to anyone

A quiet and beautiful place! The host is very warm and friendly, and the room is clean, warm and comfortable! Nearby are restaurants, library, parks and a great value used bookstore! Great location! We love this place!
