Our family has very mixed feelings about our stay. The location was good, the access was good, and the rooms were decent, if to ignore that we stayed in the room that had bedbugs that winter (hopefully no more!!!). The host, Gerald... I think sometimes he tries to joke and misses the mark, so it comes out rude. And sometimes he is genuinely annoyed with people so he says snarky remarks. In any case, he seemed pretty comfortable talking down on people. He constantly tried to make us feel foolish if we asked for something, in a passive-aggressive way. But if you phrase it just right, he would be happy to accommodate. However, during our 4 day/3 night stay, not ONCE our room was cleaned. He asked the first day if we wanted him to clean our room TODAY, and I said, it's okay, we still have fresh towels. On the 3rd day we ran out of towels, and our trash piled up high (we had a 1.5 year old with us, so yea, stinky diapers), so I asked Gerald to bring us some more towels and help us with trash. He got annoyed, because apparently he thought I told him not to clean our rooms at all. He did bring up the towels, but did not bother helping with tidying up the rooms or taking out the trash. The sink in the bathroom did not drain well, so it needed cleaning and attention - also did not happen. I tried to take out the trash myself, only to find the outside trash cans locked up. So I had to leave it in the hallway next to our room, where the bag of trash stayed until our departure. Hey, the entire third floor stunk, but I did my best to prevent it. As a guest, there is only so much I can do about that. The breakfast was exciting the first day, and quite redundant the second and third, and fourth, as it was EXACTLY the same thing every morning. But we made the best out of it - we kept croissants and made sandwiches for lunch with them, which were aaaawwwesome! Some fruit tasted moldy, so we didn't give it to our kids, except for the watermelon. The downstairs breakfast room was so pitiful. I mean, that place has an amazing potential for a cute speak-easy, comedy show, or local band spot (has a stage and lighting and appears to have wiring for it) but it is in such a rundown shape! The stuff and furniture is piled up everywhere, dusty broken, so sad... And it did add to a total impression of the place. Overall, the double room worked for our family, but I feel like we can find a better accommodations thru Airbnb or other places to fulfill that. We didn't really spend any time except for the sleeping in the hotel, so no TV or chairs to relax didn't really bother us. We would probably stay somewhere else for our next trip to Quebec, as the cleaningness and host's 'tude was kinda a downer.

Cozy place (feels European), the location and breakfast were perfect. The owner is really nice/knowledgeable and had a good sense of humour. He'll definitely make you practice your French but is very approachable. Would stay there again. Merci Gérald, votre place est vraiment unique et vous êtes très agréable.

Fantastic location. Darling and quirky little b&b. The host is generous of his time and helpful with getting to know the city. The beds are outstandingly comfortable, and the sheets and pillows are marvelous quality- we all slept amazingly. Breakfast is home made and delicious. Just a charming place with a charming host and a great launching point to enjoy Quebec.

Our knowledgeable host was super helpful mapping out our sites and activities and served us a hearty, memorable meal to start each day of walking the city, including delicious homemade strawberry jam. Room was as described and worth the price. Location central and super safe. Merci Gerard pour tout!

I was originally scared to stay here because of the images but to Mt surprise it was super clean and had plenty of space for my family. Two bedrooms and a kitchen with a nice size bathroom. Plenty of bathroom towels

We loved our stay here. Jacuzzi was fun, breakfast was great, great location to walk to sights and the parking was close. The owner/manager helped us find how to get to the best sights. Gary & Sherlyn

Nice little hotel a few minutes from the main station. You can reach the city by walk, too. Rooms are fantastic, you can't image the style if you stand at the front door. Breakfast is very good, too.

My stay at L'Intendant was one of the high points of my trip to Québec City. The location is incredibly convenient: 5 minute walk to the Train Station and 10 minute walk to the main tourist attractions. It's a charming old B&B, very comfortable for the price you pay. The owner is welcoming and willing to share information and tips about the city. And, of course, there is the delicious breakfast.

Good value per money. Good shower, good mattress and a very nice breakfast: croissant, fruits, juice, coffee. The location is good too.

The location is very close to the Bus and Train Terminal (literally right in front of it, a good 5 min walk). The staff speak English and French. Staff is very knowledgeable of the city and will even draw you a walking route on a map, suggesting key places to see and visit. No elevators. The building has a total of 3 floors plus the ground floor. They don't allow you to wear your shoes into the room, maybe that's just in the winter season (when I had stayed). They provide those rubber shoe mats outside the door for you to leave them. No one stole our shoes during our stay. The room was very comfortable. They have a thermostat for you to adjust your room's temperature. Very high ceilings. No TV but there's WiFi. No bath tub but there's a hairdryer. They don't provide those typical hotel soaps, shampoos, etc. but rather have soap dispensers for the sink and all-in-one soap and shower gel dispenser for the shower. Breakfast was included.

The room was lovely and clean, and the two bedroom suite was amazing. We got free breakfast with the best croissant you will ever eat. The innkeeper is incredibly friendly and has a good tour for Quebec City that he can recommend. It is nice and close to downtown and walking distance of Old Quebec and other attractions.

This was the perfect place for us to stay. If you're looking for great value, excellent location and a relaxed visit, this could be your spot. Being located right across from the train station made our arrival and departure stress free. We bought weekend unlimited bus passes from the Train Station's convenience store for $16 each. There were multiple bus stops close by that got us everywhere we needed whenever we didn't feel like walking. Both lower town and upper town are very short walks away (but there are a fair amount of hills and steps so the bus was a nice option). The host was very knowledgeable and gave us a very detailed map with helpful suggestions. He is quite amusing and very thoughtful. (I've read some reviews saying he was rude, but I think maybe he was just misunderstood. With us he was very jovial and playful so perhaps some may be offended, we felt welcomed.) Breakfast was amazing! (DO NOT MISS IT) even though it was the same each day, everything was delicious and I always looked forward to it. The room we stayed in had a Jacuzzi tub which we loved to use at the end of the long days of walking and climbing steps throughout the city. There is no elevator so if accessibility is required I would not recommend. For us, it didn't matter. 10/10, would recommend!
