Oh,
Bistro
La
Goulette
in
Quebec
City,
you
really
put
us
through
an
adventure!
We
decided
to
embark
on
an
impromptu
pilgrimage
from
Old
Quebec,
thinking
we'd
waltz
in
for
a
meal.
But,
oh
no,
the
gatekeeper
at
the
entrance
declared,
"No
admission
without
reservations."
We
pleaded
our
case,
explaining
our
epic
journey
on
foot,
and
this
fine
gatekeeper,
bless
his
heart,
finally
granted
us
a
table
after
a
suspenseful
25-minute
wait.
Now,
on
to
the
culinary
escapade!
I
fancied
myself
some
Tunisian
soup,
and
the
moment
that
bowl
touched
my
lips,
I
felt
like
I'd
just
found
the
gastronomic
holy
grail.
Seriously,
folks,
this
soup
was
so
outstanding
that
I
considered
pouring
it
into
a
flask
and
carrying
it
around
as
a
daily
pick-me-up.
My
wife,
always
the
adventurous
one,
went
for
the
Lebanese
appetizer,
and
it
arrived
fresh
and
yummy,
just
as
you'd
expect.
However,
let's
get
to
the
main
act,
the
lamb
shank
tajine.
It
had
the
right
balance
of
flavors;
not
an
overdose
of
cinnamon,
which
was
a
blessing
in
disguise.
But
oh
dear,
the
potato
in
that
tajine
seemed
to
have
a
stubborn
resistance
to
cooking
thoroughly.
It
was
like
the
potato
was
staging
a
culinary
rebellion.
And,
to
be
honest,
the
other
veggies
in
the
tajine
were
also
playing
hard
to
get
when
it
came
to
being
fully
cooked.
All
in
all,
our
evening
at
Bistro
La
Goulette
was
an
unforgettable
rollercoaster
ride.
From
the
"no
reservations"
standoff
to
the
culinary
surprises,
it
was
an
experience
we
won't
soon
forget.
So
if
you're
ready
for
an
adventure
in
both
dining
and
diplomacy,
Bistro
La
Goulette
is
the
place
to
be.
Just
be
sure
to
bring
your
appetite
and
your
persuasive
skills!
