Special. Le Mouton Noir is a special place serving special dishes. It is so good I can't really describe it with words. To say they are using the best ingredients possible would be an understatement. The onion and mushrooms are so good that they could have been a course unto themselves. You really must eat here, this is a pilgrimage.

We had a fantastic dinner here last month. We ordered the set price menu, and were blown away at how great the food was. Much was locally-sourced - and hyper local too, as in “spring lamb from the pasture over the hill.” Delicate flavors and yet complexly put together. Good wine list, with well-sourced wines. We plan to return!

Had lunch here. We share a planche de fromage et charcuterie. Everything is from the local area and the pate is homemade. One of the best cured meats we've ever had. Really interesting. The cheeses were good too. We had a picanha which was cooked perfectly with really good chips too. We had a glass of Portuguese wine from Alentejo which went really well with the food. It's a shame we were full as I bet deserts would be amazing too.

Kind of mixed on this restaurant. I really liked the large terrace in the back, overseeing the river (which we recently kayaked on). The sangria was excellent as was the carrot cake dessert. But the main dishes we had were not very original, they actually had the same sides, one was chicken and the other was halibut. Both were ok, but not great. I saw a lot of people ordering one dish, a puffy cake like dish, maybe we should have tried that. They also still use plastic straws, which was quite surprising (they should really ask you if you want one, so wasteful). There was also very little vegetarian options. The entrée they gave us however, cod nuggets, were excellent. The kids meal was also very big, way too much and should not have been recommended for our young child. Our experience was not great, at these prices it should have been, but I believe with other options it could have been much better.

Friendly staff. We visited it for lunch. Their terrace with a view of the river is really nice. For the entree, we had a refreshing and delicious gazpacho. I would recommend this place if you have time to relax because it could take some time before being served. If you are on a hurry, maybe it is better to try a different place.

The back deck is so peaceful, the food is so fresh. Portions were massive, we totally should've shared but then we wouldn't have gotten to try so many different dishes!

Beautiful setting. We sat on the patio overseeing the water, it was peaceful and magical. The service was outstanding. Regardless of the fact the restaurant was full, the staff took the time to properly explain the menu and offered local advise. The food was creative and delicious. Ingredients were seasonal and fresh. It was a perfect summer evening.

From start to finish we had a wonderful meal, and experience! The service was top notch, with a friendly smile. We tried a number of plates, and everything was delicious. We highly recommend!

My family and I had a fantastic dining experience at "Le Mouton Noir" in Baie-Saint-Paul, Quebec. The food was beyond amazing – I had a steak that was cooked to perfection, paired with a refreshing glass of cold beer. My wife enjoyed a delicious vegan salad, and our kids devoured their plates with delight. The service exceeded our expectations, making the lunch even more memorable. We couldn't have asked for a better meal. "Le Mouton Noir" is a 5-star gem that we highly recommend to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience in Baie-Saint-Paul. It's a must-visit! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🍽️🍺

I recently tried out this cute restaurant housed in an old-looking house, and it's got a cozy and quiet atmosphere that's just perfect for a laid-back meal and some good old chatter. When it comes to the food, it's good, but not mind-blowing. One of the two dishes we ordered, the « cocotte », could use a bit more flavour. What really stood out, though, was the service. The staff was super friendly, polite, and always quick to respond, which definitely added to the overall pleasant dining experience.

Excellent 3 course dinner. Everything was delicious and service was great. Highlight meal of our Quebec trip.

Limited but good offerings of those we tried for lunch - French onion soup, french fries (made crispy as I requested), fish and chips, salads, pork croquettes. We tried both of the offered desserts (chocolate mousse and carrot cake), which were thoroughly enjoyed. Good service. Seating is a bit Spartan and cramped inside. We didn't sit outside overlooking the stream (no one was), as it was a bit chilly.

One of the best restaurants in the area. A visible care has been put to gather fresh ingredients from the region; food is prepared with care and excellent taste - well cooked, well seasoned, thoughtful combinations. In summer, the terrasse overlooking the river is just plain lovely and from our experiences, the service always has been kind and efficient. Overall, the price is very fair considered the quality you are getting.

This place is truly an amazing dining experience! If there was more than 5 stars available, I would still give the highest recommendation! Having just come back from Napa, California where we stayed in Yountville (yes - the home of THAT restaurant), I can say without reservation that this was better in every way! This is great authentic New French/Quebecois and "non-poser" dining of the highest order! There was not a single bite here that was not perfectly on point! I had the duck confit cassoulet, and WOW, just WOW! Wine recommendations were spot on as well. Bottom line, this is the type of restaurant that it is worth driving into town for (it's an hour and a bit from Quebec City)! Only thing that came close in Quebec City was eating at Le Continental.

Cozy restaurant in a small town. They have indoor seating as well as a patio. We chose the patio close to the fireplace. It has a very romantic atmosphere. Food was good though I was expecting more local variety. Service was great.

😐 Came from Toronto and stopped by Joe around 12 on a Wednesday afternoon. About a 20 minute wait outside, and another long wait after we ordered. We got the "Le Sandwich" and the regular sized smoked meat Spaghetti. The sandwich was small, nothing special, and came with a small pickle. Not worth the...
