Waited 7 hours to be told they have no idea what's wrong with me. Except that my white blood cell count was high. I had a fever, of course it was high. Posted on Facebook and was told almost instantly what it most likely was and am now heading home to have it treated. I'm sure it's a fantastic hospital, and I don't know if it was because of the language barrier, but if I wasn't desperate I definitely would have left. Especially after I was told that I was "next" and watched 7 people go before me.

Only reviewing on its health system facility. Hotel-Dieu de Quebec is well known for the advanced Cancer Treatment, Kidney Disease, and Cochlear Implants and is affiliated with Universite Laval Medicine School. It is located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada, and a teaching hospital and a part of the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Quebec and a network of five teaching hospitals and several specialized institutions! The hospital was officially founded in 1637! Amazing history hospital! Thank you for the dedication and commitment to serving the Quebec City area.

A blessing in disguise. an orchestrated symphony that is running round the clock in a professional manner. A dedicated team who is consistently pushing forward to find the root cause of a problem with a systematical approach. A big time thank you from my heart to each soul that i have seen doing their part in a respectful beautiful manner. very very professional in everything.

Needs improvement in most of the areas. Waiting time is really annoying, went for a CT scan waited from morning 1045am until afternoon 3pm for a 5 minute scan

Two and a half weeks in Hotel Dieu and every single person (excluding one) has been an absolute angel. I was so nervous about the language barrier but everyone has made an effort and no one has been annoyed by my lack of French (and being in the hospital has given me some quality Duolingo time). Every nurse, doctor, and staff I've encountered has genuinely cared. They make sure I'm comfortable, they take time explaining everything to me, and they have worked extremely hard to find the cause of my issues. No matter how bad it got, including having a stroke in hospital, I've never felt scared. I feel so confident that no matter what happens, they will take the best care possible of me. The people at Hotel-Dieu have gone through a year+ of misery primarily caused by the selfishness of others. And yet they still smile, keep their patient's spirits up, and work extremely hard to help everyone in their care. Amazing doesn't begin to describe people with that level of selflessness. It's hard to put into words how grateful I am for the people who have looked after me and made sure I'll have the healthiest future I can. Shout out to the cooks. Tofu chili, steak, pork dumplings. The food here is so, so ridiculously good!! It makes a world of difference to know that no matter how awful the day or how sick I feel, I'll get something delicious and satisfying at the end of it.

I made a phone call to inquire about my son who had emergency surgery this evening. The nurse who I spoke with was exceptional. She was so kind, caring and very understanding. I did not get her name but I cannot say enough about how helpful she was on the phone. She put my mind at ease as I am from a different province. A special thank you for your help. Stay safe. 💕

I had a non-medical emergency at Hotel Dieu today. The Urgent Care security officer named Caleb went above and beyond the call of duty to help me. He used his bi-lingual skills & his knowledge of resources but what most impressed me is that he showed me compassion & kindness at a time of high emotion & anxiety. Thank you for having professionals such as Caleb as your front line/first impression workers. They matter!

Went to have an x-ray in the hand. Because I was not Canidian they wanted to charge 1.054 ($750) only to get checked by a doctor. Not nice... and installations are worse than the Costa Rican free hospitals. Better not to go there...

I am over the moon with all the care the staff demonstrated toward me last Saturday. My French is very basic and everyone made sure I was understood and understand. As any other hospital, I waited for hours on the E.R. but had a nurse helping me out when my pain increased. I had done all the exams and resources I needed and I am grateful for that. Thank you all for your hard work.

Night nurse unable to take a route correctly? Shame on you! She tried to prick me on several attempts to finally blame me by saying that it's me who moves too much. Lol what she didn't know is that I'm a nurse too and I understood very very well that she was doing her job badly!!!!! The staff in the morning were nice, well done especially to Juliette who took good care of me in the emergency room

I cant recommend highly as I was only offered rtg X-ray and not full cat scan after spine injury in gym. It effectively cost me 1300 dollars as I’m nonresident and I was told it’s either inflammation or something much more serious, but pain has to persist 6 weeks to find out. 1300 dollars plus 6 weeks of pain? I bet everyone will take higher radiation over 6 weeks of nerve pain. Effectively no diagnosis and no cat scan due to high radiation exposurk risk.. well, now it will be even higher as I have to again do CAT. Came at 21:00, left 4:30am.

Upon arrival in Quebec City, my son developed an ear infection. We came here just past midnight, no line ups. We were seen right away. Everyone was extremely friendly. Much better service than in Ontario. In and out in 1 hour.

Very beautiful historic site. The oldest hospital in North America. Free parking almost non-existent.

Once seen, the ER doctor was very helpful. However, it is not normal that the hospital employs only one doctor for the entire ER ward during the night shift. I arrived at 10:30 PM and was not seen until 5:30 AM. There were only five people in the waiting room.

My 1 year old had a fever of 102 and has had ear infections before. So as a worried mother I had to take him in for a checkup. Reception desk was rude and no one would even give us a wait time. Nurse saw us & asked about our concerns but never told how long we’d have to wait. After 3 hours still sitting here with no idea how much longer it would be. If we didn’t have to fry home the next day I would not have came to this hospital where even though we had to pay $$$$ as a foreigner just to check-in we still can’t even see a doctor.

Hello dear Hotel de Dieu, It seems that your operating system is not that effective, given the number of negative comments there are. I sincerely ask you to take care of your patients as properly and take care of them as quickly as possible. It is clear how poor your reception service is, with a waiting time that exceeds the future of all these sick people combined. My girlfriend spent more than 8 hours waiting and suffering from stomach pain, and no news has been given in the meantime. Absolutely deplorable work. Inadmissible and unacceptable!!! Change this system as quickly as possible!

Hospitalization of my spouse on December 15, 2023 in intensive care for renal failure treatment of dialysis etc. he is monitored at the minute with competent personnel.... Sunday the 17th a nurse or doctor tells me that things are going well and that my spouse has a room in the nephrology department so transferred on the morning of the 18th.. it gets bad at dinner 1st bite doesn't pass vomit even the hot water from the overwhelmed attendant doesn't pass, for the rest too long to tell, at 9:30 p.m. the doctor on call did not come. He died after 10 p.m.....

A nurse (proudly from the Ivory Coast apparently) tore the vein in my right arm over 3 centimeters by sticking into my intravenous line and, instead of apologizing and helping me, he reprimanded, raising his voice in a threatening manner "YOU ARE NOT A GOOD PATIENT! YOU DON'T DO WHAT THE DOCTOR SAYS! STAY IN LIE OR WE'LL SEND YOU AWAY!!" leaving myself to my own devices, trying to contain the resulting hemorrhage. A nurse (thank God) helped me when she saw me bleeding all over the stretcher... Seriously a horror drama. Be VERY careful when choosing this hospital for an emergency. In addition, I dealt with an emergency doctor who "didn't like" my admissions to the emergency room 10 years ago regarding alcohol. After losing 30 lbs in less than a month, I was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis upon examination. But when I was admitted, he looked at me and said "it can't be easy but here's a bit of Maalox, good luck I'll discharge you." Having not drunk in 10 years, I tried to plead my case, but to no avail. I had to literally "threaten him legally" to see a gastroenterologist and as a result, I was in such bad shape that I was hospitalized for 16 days (amputated gallbladder, dangerously low potassium, anemia and I passes)... the hospitalization was A1 on the other hand, but the emergency is no better than in the third world.
