You can’t visit Quebec City without climbing these long staircases up to the Plains of Abraham. You’re greeted with great vantage points to the St Lawrence River and you will get an awesome workout at the same time. 👍😎

Actually great to walk, great view, a few stairs to keep you healthy. Loved it.

A MUST do in Quebec City. High and scenic boardwalk between the Citadel and the St Lawrence River. We did as many suggested walking from the Plains of Abraham side down to the Dufferin Terrace. Walking up in the opposite direction would be a good workout but not terribly difficult for most people.

Stunning views and the walk through old town was spectacular. I loved Quebec City's Upper and Lower Town. Memories of our trip will last a lifetime.

Really fine perspectives of the river, from several viewing platforms, but I'm glad we were walking DOWN the Promenade from the Citadel, and not up to it! The long flights of stairs end in a splendid promenade, or perhaps it's a boardwalk, and on the grey and drizzly day we visited, we felt we'd become part of an Impressionist painting, with the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac as backdrop, a host of bobbing umbrellas in the foreground, and crowded quays and busy ferries beyond.

Stunning walk up the cliff and under the walls of the citadel. Affords sweeping views of the river.

My wife and I walked this. Absolutely beautiful. We got to it while walking and thinking "I wunder where this goes?" we then had to circle around to see Petit Champlain which was our original goal

310 steps to the top - would have been a spectacular view except for the wildfire smoke that made its way back to Vieux Quebec on Sunday, 25 June.

    The best view in town

The Governor's promenade connects the Dufferin terrace to the Plains of Abraham and is a nice walk with wonderful views. We climbed all the steps since we began from the Dufferin terrace towards the Plains of Abraham. If you want to avoid climbing stairs you can reverse the direction by starting your walk from the Plains of Abraham.
