Not much to say that hasn’t been already. The drive up requires caution and can be busy, drive slow and be safe. There are many amazing walking trails to access, but if you want ‘the view’ you can drive all the way to the top and park and look out from the boardwalk. It can get very busy and if it is cloud covered then you can’t see anything! You’re better stopping 3/4 way up and doing a walk along the base of the organs for some great views year around.

Great view of Hobart city and Surrounding places. Its windy and cold. Weather can change in minutes. Toilets are available on top but no other place for coffee or food.

Simply breathtaking. The view is spectacular. Driving is not very tricky if the weather is good, but the weather tends to change quickly. We went there in August and there was some snow as well. Overall very pleasant experience, highly recommended for a Tassie bucket list.

What a view!! Unfortunately we visited on an icy cloudy a day. We Imagine the view would be magical on a clear sunny day. We get very much humbled by nature in places like this, the expansive view, the mossy rocks and ground. The abundance of native trees and shrubs. There are Lots of easy walks and tracks, you can park your car lower on the mountain and walk up if you’re fit enough and time is no hindrance. The great thing about Hobart is that lots of great places are fairly close to the city centre. A must visit for lovely Tasmania!!

We went up this at night and again in the morning. Be ready for the cold, wild wind. As you drive up, you have to be very careful of the cars coming in the opposite direction. The facilities are exceptional and there are a lot of walking tracks that lead to the peak. There are spectacular views and the experience is worth the drive.

This is the place must be visited when you come to Tasmania. It’s very beautiful, magnificent view but also cold and extremely windy. I came here 3 times, morning to watch the sunrise (but not during Winter time because icing they closed the road so you can’t get on the top of the mountain. At noon is the best time to visit and watch the Sunset. It doesn’t take long to drive and I really much enjoyed driving on the top of the mountain. It will take your breath away ☺️

It is totally worth the effort to drive up the windy road to the top of the mountain. The views from here are stunning. If you're lucky, you will also get to see some snow! Was really cold up here so make sure you bundle up. Have been up here on two occasions and if in Hobart on holiday, will visit here again.

This was worth doing. The change in temperature between sea level and summit was interesting. Plenty of historical facts shared by the tour guide, mixed in with good humour! Like all high points the views were fantastic. Fog rolled in a bit but quickly cleared up. Highly recommended and worth visiting for the views, experience and education.

very little in Tasmania does not surprise and Mt Wellington is one. we visited on a cloudy day so couldn't appreciate all the mountain had to offer but were able to catch a glimpse of Hobart peeking through. the landscape is amazing i liken it to a seabed or alien terrain. A must see, you can drive or catch a tour bus to enjoy the scenery on the way there.

If you're planning to drive up Mount Wellington in cloudy weather, it can actually make for a truly unique and breathtaking experience. As you ascend the mountain, you'll notice that the clouds seem to envelop the road, creating an otherworldly atmosphere that is both eerie and beautiful. As you reach the summit, you'll emerge from the clouds and be treated to stunning panoramic views of Hobart and its surroundings. The clouds can actually enhance the view, creating a dramatic and moody backdrop for the landscape. That being said, it's important to take caution when driving in cloudy or foggy conditions. The roads can be slick and visibility may be reduced, so it's important to drive slowly and be aware of your surroundings. It's also a good idea to check the weather forecast before heading up to Mount Wellington, as conditions can change quickly in the mountains. Overall, if you're looking for a unique and unforgettable driving experience, consider heading up Mount Wellington on a cloudy day. Just be sure to take the necessary precautions and drive safely!

A little hairy on the narrow winding roads to the top, but worth a visit. Lots to see and established paths. Even on a wet and wild day the enclosed observatory makes a great lookout over Hobart

Definitely a must visit. The drive up to the top is already breath taking. Definitely a great place to be. Very weather dependent and by the time we went up, the clouds already started to creep in.

Very narrow road but the views are the best in Australia. Middle of Summer and felt like 5 degrees. A must do. If you do not like driving there is a bus company that does a run up and back .

Great views of Hobart and it's surroundings. Must do at least once per visit. It was incredibly windy when we were there (it wasn't at sea level). Suggest stopping half way up/down at the café. Apparently there are great MTB bike and walking trails all the way up.

Half hour winding drive to truly spectacular views of Hobart and beyond. Check weather conditions before leaving and bring a jacket as it's always freezing!

  • 5/5 Lee-anne V. 6 months ago on Google
No matter how many times you visit, the view and rock formations never get old! Always bring a jacket as it can be 10 degrees cooler up top. Worth the windy drive or longer walk.

Views for days of Hobart and surroundings. Unusually rocky landscape, looks otherworldly. Was a beautiful sunny day when we went, so jackets weren't needed but suggest you check the weather. If you love nature, and nature alone (don't expect a cafe or picnic area on the summit), this is the spot for you!

Well worth a visit if you love to get a bird's eye view of everything. Took the shuttle bus up there and back, unfortunately it was pretty cloudy going up but still got to see some spectacular terrain at the top. Felt great to be so high up. Hopefully next time I visit I'll get a glimpse of Hobart and beyond.

Kunanyi (Mt Wellington) was spectacular! Probably one of the best views over a city that I have seen in the world. In Tasmania, a place that has a constant procession of amazing vistas, the view from Mt Wellington can certainly claim a place in the list of must sees. The drive up constantly unfolds different aspects of the view, but when you get to the peak, you get a true feel of the beauty of the Tasmanian landscape. The fact you can go 'free range' on the rock formations and just about go anywhere for the perfect photo, is fantastic, and the kids loved that. Highly recommend heading up if you are in Hobart and it is a clear day, but don't forget to rug up, it is a lot colder than at the bottom of the mountain.

Mount Wellington is a must for any tourist visiting Hobart. The view is spectacular overseeing the city of Hobart. It's not a long drive to get to the summit from Hobart and there are tours that can take you there. Once at the top there are several lookout points which all give a beautiful view of Hobart and the surrounding landscape. First time we went it was windy and raining ice ( which actually hurt) but the second time was much more calm. Either way it was damn cold so do yourself a favour and put on plenty of clothes and a pair of warm gloves.

Breathtaking views from the summit in clear days. We went up 3 consecutive days. First day the road was closed beyond the spring due to heavy snow. Second day we managed to go all the way up but it was too foggy. Only on the 3rd day we could see the scenery. Nice snow play areas for the kids. Drive slowly with fog lights on.

Awesome views when you can get up here with the roads often closed due to ice and snow. The coffee is good from the springs lookout half way up the mountain. The local council light the stone fire right next to the coffee shop, so you can sit there all warm and sip coffee while awaiting for the council to open the roads. Plenty of parking at the top of the mountain for cars.

The bus trip to the top of Mt Wellington was absolutely stunning. Worth every bit of the $35 ticket. We had the mountain top to ourselves as the road was closed to the public. It was a perfectly clear, sunny day with no wind. Perfection!

Photos do not do this place any justice. Mount Wellington has such stunning views and lookouts to go and see but it's really weather depending as the day we went was so windy and not enjoyable at all. I would recommend being quite picky on the day you go so you don't get blown away however if you can manage to stay on your feet then it's stunning. The drive up alone is lovely and plenty of places along the way to stop for photos but all I can say is wow. It does have an indoors area with some information and lookout. Definitely want to go back when it's not windy! Would love to get some drone footage as well but you can just use your phone. It's amazing.

If you can reach at summit before sunrise then you are in for spectacular views. As sun ascends the sky, the landscape from top, city and water views are breathtaking. There is a coffee shop before you reach the top spot. There is ample of parking.

Great place to go. Went twice in two days. Great view of Hobart city from the top, and also have wonderful walking trails in the clouds.

Still can't move on from the view from the summit! We drove up to the summit and quite a lot of parking spaces at the top. Where else can you go see such wonderful nature or mountain view that is very close to Hobart city? This is it!

Recommended to visit during Summer. It's a small mountain so driving to the mount is easy. Place is such a treat to the eyes. You can see the earth line view from the top. Don't miss visiting this place ❤️

Wow what a view. 😀 Mount Wellington provides breathtaking views of Hobart, the Derwent River and all the surrounding areas. It is absolutely spectacular. See my pictures attached. Take a jumper or jacket with you even in summer.

Stunning view of Hobart city and the bay all the way to port Arthur. Magnificent indoor facility at the top, prepared for cold snowy days. The road is very steep and weather can change in minutes, be sure to be careful and be aware tour buses share the same road as you. There is a fair bit of parking at the top
